Hi, I've been trying to have video calls to our mobile with any app, and version 1.33 of gtalk of this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1056793 works halfway. http://www.multiupload.com/ZIC4YI1F3Y I install it, using root explorer, (talk2.apk to system/app and rename as talk.apk, and /system/lib/libtalk_jni.so)
Send video well (only rotation issue) with the front camera but only if we put the mobile in landscape mode turning to the left, in vertical mode, i9003 reboots. But doesn't send sound. The same happens in the hangouts of google +, vertical phone = reboot, landscape to the left = rotated video and no sound but not reboot.
Can somebody try to finish to port for our i9003 Gtalk video?
I know youve been waiting for this feature. Jusy leave as it is for today and maybe later well all have it.

Finally,
Its available now.
Update your skype and enable it from the settings.
By default the Video is "off". So you will need to go the skype settings and enable it from there.
The Quality of the video is not that great but well its a start
I tried it on my G2x running CM7 nightly 151 and couldn't get it to transmit any video -- wouldn't even display locally on my screen in the little window that comes up in the lower left corner. I tried front and back cameras and even disabled video and re-enabled it. Still nothing. It may work on stock and may even work on later nightlies, I dunno. Google Talk video chat works fine for me so maybe Skype requires some updated libs?
Just passing on my experience.
I see that the front camera orientation while video calling is upside down. Anyone to confirm my observation???

I have the same thing going on as you, except I'm on Weapon G2x (2.3.3 Rom), it said skype wasn't 'officially supported' on my phone though. Nice to see it's almost there though
yup....on tweaked stock now...but Camera is upside down...

True, but if you turn the phone in landscape mode the video will be in the correct position.

Not just landscape mode, you gotten disable rotation and zooming to make video work properly? Anyone receive a SMS through carrier while on video chat and and video get distorted? Mines did but MAYBE because I wasn't on wifi, my thought only..

realized that in a skype conversation. my Phone is now complete!
Just tried it on a Froyo rom and I saw my wife's video feed for like 3 seconds and then it made my phone reboot. So close ... yet so far.
I think one of the android blogs mentioned that it was only good for landscape.
I tested everything on Stock 2.3.3 and the only thing for video to show up correctly is in landscape mode. Leave the auto-rotate checked, it doesn't fix anything. Picture is so-so but at least FFC works which is better than nothing...
Interesting how they rolled it also out to the Nexus One (works and looks great) yet no FFC so what's the point? LOL
Nice! not great but something is better than nothing
New release of google + allows to make videocalls. Ok audio and video almost ok, only rotation issue (as skype). And we have to put the phone in landscape mode to the left, if we put vertical (portrait) restarts the mobile! reboots (as gtalk and yahoo messenger)!!
Anyone can take a look? Now with video calls always exists problem with the rotation .... We will never videocalls in i9003?

i understand ur passion. Vdo calling is not working in rotation mode is a different issue. But i think at least u are getting a 'working' vdo calling. You should at least happy upon that...!
vishal.... working??? in a videocall between 2 i9003, the rotation issue is double, and do you can make a videcall if the image of the other person you see upside down? I can't, to make a videocall, I want to see the other person with correct orientation, not upside down... And if your device reboots after you put your device in vertical mode, its working? I don't think.
In landscape mode = image upside down = rotation issue.
Phone in vertical mode = reboot.
Can I be happy?
It'a step, but not the solution

Install using rot explorer gtalk from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1388449
And for hangouts... install google+ and swicht camera button on messenger app from goggle+
Could you try it on the latest CM?
Waleed had got the cameras working fine except for video recording, so there is a chance that it would work.

I confirm the portrait issue.
BTW program crashes (no reboot) in portrait also disabling video but remaining in hangaout with only audio on.
Maybe it's an issue due to unstable GB?
it was working properly in portrait and landscape but only the back cam was working but i was able to see the other side properly and not upside down --- after i updated the yahoo messenger it became ugly !!!!!
it reboots in portrait mood
and also i see the other side rotated
so it's not an issue with our phone it's the prog. itself
Try Tango, works perfect

We rely on u buddy :-D
Latest G+ update "FULLY" enables video hangout on mobile devices. Which means, now you can initiate a video conference over G+ using your phone
Now I remember sometime back on some ROM, I'd managed to see the video streaming up from my phone. But now I'm on vanilla DDKP2. It reboots as soon as the streaming starts. I mean.. FFC preview starts alright, but when we say "Join Hangout", it'll reboot.
Anybody here getting a different result? I'm sure there's a lot of people on lot many different ROMs. I really want to know which ROM could possible support this feature. This might be the first break-through for our phone !
Got it.. Start hangout with Rearview Cam preview, and later switch to FFC. Works We DO HAVE a break through

Sorry but it doesn't true. hangouts works if you put the phone in landscape to the left, and work both cameras, but appears a problem sending your image rotation, rotation issue again.... And if you put the device in portrait mode (vertical), phone reboots. At the moment, hangouts doesn't work.
100 % tested
Can any one report this issue to google+ team ?

Hi folks,
My camera app has stopped working.
It will load and the buttons are cliakale, but the screen is just black and i cannot take a photo, odd or what?
The capture button can be pressed but nothing happens, kinda needed the camera lol
Any thoughts please?
Thanks
You need fix a permissions, better way use a program Rom Manager for it.
Nat that didn't work.
If you have removed some system .apk it can do that. After removing phone.apk my camera stopped working, putting it back fixed the camera.

Your a star, works again now. Thanks.
Hey
Just posting here in case anyone else is having this problem and has found a solution.
The problem is that once I set a youtube video into full screen, I cant get the video player controls to appear again when tapping the screen, meaning I can't seek or pause the video unless I press back to get to the small player. This only happens on my note 12.2 and not on my other devices running the same youtube version (nexus 5 and 7).
I have rooted and flashed the near stock rom from Gatsrom and am using CivZ kernel rev3.0
Uninstalling updates to the youtube app does fix the problem though, so it looks like it might be a problem specific to the note with the latest youtube, so I was wondering if anyone else has hit on this same glitch?
This happens on CivZ rom too, with CivZ kernel or stock kernel. Probably a YouTube glitch.
I am stock non rooted and it's happening to me too..Has to be a YT issue.

The Youtube app isn't adapted to work with screensizes above 11" yet. That's why.
Essentially what happens is the app is stretched and the HUD bugs out because of it.
Must be a regression in the newest version of the app then, since it used to work fine. I've sent feedback to Google regarding this via the youtube app.
Thanks for chiming in everyone!

I hve the same issue

Same problem here.
It's really irritating! When i enter the Youtube app from a link (in chrome) and then hit the full screen button, and then i want to pause the video, i need to hit the back button but that's immediately takes me back to last app (chrome).
i found out that if I want it to stay in Youtube app, i need to: press the link (in chrome or gmail app), lower the minimized video to the right bottom side of the screen, then enlarge the screen again, after all that i can hit the full screen button and if i want to pause i can hit the back button and it will not exit the app.
Oddly enough the interface can be forced to show up in full-screen mode using the play/pause media controls command. For example if one clicks the button on a pair of headphones with a play/pause button while in full-screen mode then the video will pause and controls show up on screen. As soon as the controls fade away due to the standard interface delay they cannot be brought back by screen touch gestures but the headphones button will bring them back.
Since I'm rooted and use tons of customizations, I've set up a custom gesture in GMD gesture control to invoke the media play/pause command as a work around to this issue in YouTube until it's fixed. I now simply tap and hold 5 fingers on the screen while YouTube is playing full-screen and the video pauses and Youtube displays the player interface.

I have the same problem both on Note Pro and Tab Pro. Very irritating.

I confirm that the problem is solved with version 6. You can get it from here as I did if you don't want to wait to roll out to your country's play store.
