Phone was bought second hand, and I think its from UK and I live in Europe.
So is there any more solutions?
Some roms can do that. May want to look for a hack to fix it. Warning this will require a rooted phone. Do at your own risk

My HTC Hero has installed 2.3.2 Gingerbread, I don't know is it rooted,I'm new in Android phones. I want to install this ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1283338 , but I have read somewhere that phone has to be S-OFF.
Sounds like you are already rooted, install rom manager and see what happens. Do a backup and then try flashing the rom. After downloading it, see if it works ignoring the S-off for right now.
I have installed ROM Manager and have Backed UP the phone, but then i turning the phone (VOLDOWNand ON button) there are no recovery mode, I only Can acsses to recovery mode trought theROM Manager.
That is fine, but did you flash recovery from the top of the app?
Yes,I have did ''Flash ClockworkMod Recovery''.
So You saying I can flash itwith that ROM and itwill be OK?
Yep, if it messes up, you can just restore if it shows something when you go to backup and restore.
Hit that thank button if I helped!
BIG Thanks to you, it worked.
So whenever I want to flash other ROM's, I can do it with no worying?
You should really try looking in the Hero forums and read up on flashing and using adb and fastboot. If something goes wrong flashing, those tools will be a lifesaver. The way you are flashing right now is just an accident waiting to happen rom manager is notorious for messing up. Just go to the Hero forum and read up on rooting and there will be a How-To guide on getting S-Off as well. Just do some reading and you will get the hang of everything. Its really easy once you get the hang of it.

hi guys...i have a rooted HTC inspire 4g with the CoreDroid Desire HD 8.1 GB 2.3.4 rom on it...the rom it's outstanding but it seems to have an issue....unless it's a hardware problem....
The phone crashes from once in a while and it keeps showing me the android bootlogo ..and the only thing i can do is to remove the battery and turn it on again....and sometimes..after turning it on..it freezes either on the HTC bootlogo or on the android bootlogo. Did anyone experienced the same problem? and does someone know what might be the solution for this problem?
It is called a boot-loop, it is an issue with the rom not your phone. You should reflash with a full wipe and you should be fine.

It may or it may not, but if you back it up, you can always restore it. Did you try just reinstalling your current with a fresh wipe?

Well, if it let you back it up, clockwork recovery must if already been flashed, i would do it again, just to make sure, after flashing recovery.

I'm thinking about romming an HTC One X for Rogers and I've tried looking up information about installing custom roms. I know I need to unlock the bootloader first and that TWRP is likely the easiest method in order to rom. But I've read some conflicting things. Does it matter which version of the software I have? There just seems to be multiple guides.
Would this guide work?
h t t p:// theunlockr.com/2012/06/05/how-to-install-twrp-2-1-recovery-on-att-and-rogers-htc-one-x/
I'm happy to do the research, but hopefully someone can point me in the right direction.

The version of software do matter. Currently 2.20 is un rootable if you did not unlock bootloader on earlier version
Here is the link which you need follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=26512322

Thabnk, I did read through part of that but I don't see anything there for version 1.94?
You can root and unlock 1.94 then flash recovery and rom fine.
Rogers HTC One X can be unlocked through the HTCdev site. Once the bootloader is unlocked you can install TWRP and flash any evita rom you want.

Any variant of the HOX can be bootloader unlocked via HTCDev except for the AT&T version. Firmware numbers for you will not matter in the slightest.

So I was able to unlock the bootloader. To install TWRP I installed GooManager and Installed "OpenRecoveryScript".
When I try to reboot the phone into recovery, nothing happens.
Is there a guide how to use TWRP. Most of the guides seem pretty basic, but I don't even know if I have it installed properly. I'm trying to install ViperX

hey! that's my guide! haha, glad to see my first real contribution be somewhat of a success.
As long as it's in the root directory (not in a folder) of the internal SDcard, you'll be fine. Also, make sure you make a backup of your stock ROM just in case you need to go back to it.
Another thing, copy down your APN settings (word by word) from your stock ROM. Not sure if Rogers is the same as Telus, but Telus needs two APNs to get LTE enabled. If you could PM those to me as well, I could add them to my guide as well. Thanks.
Ughhh. Tried to install ViperX 2.6.0 using TWRP however it didn't work. Says Checking Model ID then "assert failed: getprop("ro.product.device")==

Anything else you can/would recommend before I proceed?

So if you would like toto back up your apps than yes u can use titanium but yes make a back up sounds like u already did of your stock rom ...download viper 2.00 put it on your SD where you'll remember. To find it ... Once in twrp hit wipe menu ...wipe system ..factory reset ...and wipe dalvic cache than go back to the home menu in twrp and click install and find viper and this is very important since you wiped system you'll see in viper menu flash stock kernel or install rom ...hit install rom and go from there if you don't you'll be stuck. At. HTC dev screen and have to get back into recovery

One last important thing in case u didn't know
If you're ever stuck in bootloop this will do the trick to get into bootloader and back to recovery
Turn on, hold power 10-15 seconds, until screen goes black, let off, press n hold volume down, press power just 2-3 seconds, let off power button but continue holding vol. Down
LoL wow, already done. Using the rom now.
Wow, that was easy. Not sure if I should have checked some of the options (like one to enable exchange mail, and another for better sound). But it was so easy I guess I can always just redo it.
Was starting to think rooting maybe wasn't worth it (last root I did was on the original Nexus). Just going through all the features on ViperX, I'm glad I did.

Good news: your phone is not bricked, as it's responding, it's just stuck on boot, so there's something wrong with the ROM you flashed (maybe a wrong one?).
Have you tried taking your battery off, waiting for a while, put in back in, and then tried to enter CVM? I'd like to help you further, but I don't own that phone.
Also check the Q&A and General threads at http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1138 for a similar problem.

Hi!
I've been readin and searching for quite some time now and can't seem to find an answer for my question.
Here's the deal, I have an Inspire 4G on which I want to install the BLACKOUT 4.0 with SENSE 3.6 rom, my phone is S-On and I can't do S-Off because of broken volume buttons, I already managed to install 4EXT Touch recovery, so I can flash de rom's zip file, but, since I have S-on, I know I need to flash the boot.img file via fastboot, I've put the phone into fastboot via adb command, but the thing is I don't see any boot.img file inside the rom's zip, I found some boot.img inside the Kernels folder, but there's no "Inspire" folder in there.
I hope somebody can help me with, I only need to know where to find the BLACKOUT'S boot.img for my inspire 4G, or can I use any other boot.img inside the Kernels folder?
Please help.
Thank you.

You CAN'T really brick tzhe device as its S-ON. Worst case was that you had to flash the stock firmware / anothr rom again. The kernel will not affect your recovery. If you downloaded the rom for a "Inspire 4g" it WILL be compatible lol

I'm having a hard time trying to get into bootloader/fastboot mode, and once in bootloader I can't select anything, so I just don't want to start and then find out I can't continue because I don't have no volume buttons, I have never done it before, but I remember when I rooted my inspire I had to select something, and in that case, the volume buttons were needed yes or yes, so I just don't want to start and then having to revert everything back to stock or bricking the phone, and by bricking I mean, that it might keep just rebooting and since I don't have volume buttons I won't then be able to get it out of the loop cicle.
Or you don't really need to volume buttons in order to S-Off?

Ok guys, so I messed up and flashed the Viper Rom onto my phone. I am Boost mobile (K2_CL) and didn't realize it wasn't supported, luckily I had backed up through TWRP so I went to restore that backup and now I have an issue with the NFC. The NFC icon in the status bar quickly, like miliseconds quickly, flashes ever half second. I don;t have the NFC settings in my menu anymore either like previously. I even backed up my wifes One SV and restored hers on mine, which has never been tampered with until today, and even with her restore it is doing it on my phone. Any ideas on hos to make it stop and get the function back again?
There are different partition layouts between european and boost roms. So it seems, it has some firmware parts overwritten. In this case you can't solve that with a backup or flashing another rom.
I would try to run the available RUU for your phone, maybe it can restore things.

I guess you need to downgrade hboot first. And therefor you need S-Off.

i cannot get my device to s-off for anything, it now is just boot looping unless i wipe it again and put my old restore back in, which again has the flashing nfc icon that is killing my battery
its not exactly boot looping, it starts up for about 1 min and then reboots, unless I restore it... Please help me!
