Settings->Wireless and network->Wi-Fi settings->Advanced (press menu button) and there you can set it. However the last time I tried it (with froyo) only Opera mobile was able to surf and I think it works only when you are using wi-fi.
You can try this (Your phone must be rooted)

Hi loSconosciuto, i tried but no option for me to input script as show as Windows. I even tried on proxy, DNS & gateway doesn't work. Can be more specific on which colum field? thanks thanks

Sorry, I forgot to say that you have to fill the Proxy field. However I can't make it works right now, but I'm sure that it worked (when I tried it with froyo). As I said the only app that will connect on the internet is Opera mobile. It means that the stock browser, the market etc... will not work.
I think that the only solution is to use an app like the one I posted before.
If the proxy.pac file you need is the one in the screenshot, you can try to follow this using as proxy web-cache-ext.usyd.edu.au:8080 or directly put it in the advanced settings of wifi. You'll have some troubles with some websites I think and you need to remove it whenever you are not where you need to use that proxy.
As I said, go with the app

internet/data issues with flashed tilt

I flashed my tilt to an htc rom and I'm now having problems getting on the internet. Is there some place where i could find a cab file with at&t settings or anywhere I could find the settings and enter them by hand. thanks
still looking. thought I found a solution but it was for hermes.
try this network config...
thanks a lot. that seems to have done the trick.
turns out it didnt fix the problem. i can connect to the web via PIE but for some reason I can't get either gmail or windows live to connect. I don't know why it would work for some but not others.
Same problem
I am having the same issues too. IE and outlook mailbox can connect without any problem to the internet. Gmap too.
However, I am having problem with fring and skype applications. Anyone experiencing this issue?
I have flashed my Tilt with the original HTC Kaiser rom.
i think i might have the solution for ya...change the isp.cingular to wap.cingular
I'm having all sorts of problems, too. Very odd. I don't understand how it can work one minute, then not the next.
One thing that has seemed to help is to use the advanced configuration tool to keep the connection active all the time.
It's under Connections > Connection Always On.
Keep in mind, I had to choose MEdia Net. When I chose "My ISP GPRS", I couldn't connect at all....
I'm having the same issue. I didnt notice it until now with Fring. Over WIFI it works, over 3g it says cannot find internet.
I checked and my settings are already on the wap.
So other ideas?
I've also been having intermittent luck with the settings on my TILT flashed to HTC ROM.
One way I got around it for a while, was to connect to Pocket Internet Explorer to get the connection setup, then hop on Google Maps/MS Live Search/etc.
I also had this problem with MiniMo and Opera for a while. Eventually it all just worked itself out I guess. Also, make sure your 'proxy' settings don't get messed up. Sometimes I'll go into the connection settings and the "This connection uses a proxy" is checked... I'll go back in later, and it won't be. Not sure what the conflict is.

Here is a solution.
When you create settings using the Wizard it puts 2 connections. 1 MY ISP and the other MEdia Net.
GO to Settings -- Connections -- Connections -- Advanced -- Select Networks -- First drop down box make sure that My ISP is selected then click ok up top.
Try it and see if it works now.
If it doesnt select MEdia Net as the default connection and edit it, remove proxy and see if it works now. If still no luck remove MEdia Net from one of the connections, by managing existing connections tap and hold and then click delete. Then set MY ISP as the default connection in advance --select networks.
Good Luck.
That took care of it..
Actually what took care of it was going into the media net settings and unclicking the proxy settings..
It was using a proxy to connect but no server in the box. I clicked and whammo works now!
Thanx
same issue
Just wanted to mention had the same issue (particularly with skype) and made the change mentioned further up in the post about changing the connection setting from isp. to wap. and now skype works like a charm, thanks!
please help me aswel
i had my tytn ii , unlocked from orange and am now using o2, gprs aint workin, dno wots up, iv spent hours surfin the web and entered tonnes of variations of the manual grps settings ie access point name = ... username password . neway these didnt work! phoned o2 they said they dont have the settings to send me. can ne1 help?

Problem: Omnia, programs cant connect through GPRS, but opera can!

ok, here is the deal, im going to try to be as specific as possible so i dont cause too much trouble. Thank you in advance!
Phone: Omnia
Version: Lite02
Provider: Wind Greece
Problem: I used to be able to connect to the internet ONLY through my wi-fi connection. In order to "reprogram" the whole deal (under settings > connections > connections) i deleted all the settings there thinking i could do it correct if i started from scratch.. what i fool i was.
Exactly what i did: I installed the Htc_Network_Wizard_GR (in order to get the greek settings automatically for wind. Also, i installed a cab which added a "Opera Widgets" program - cab's name: echOpera Mobile 9.5 b2520.
Current situation: Under connections i got Wind Internet, which apparently has the correct GPRS settings, because, when i set it under advanced > Select Networks > Programs that automaticaly connect to internet:, AND select the Opera browser to use that connection to connect to the internet, Opera DOES connect and show pages JUST FINE! on top of that when i pass from Opera a youtube video to CorePlayer to play it.. It DOEs!
Now, EVERY other program that uses internet doesnt seem to find the connection!! for example, youtubeplay, when i press feed: top rated, it IMMEDIATELY sends message "search failed, internet connection not working or timeout." Same goes for: SPB weather, Insight, and even the built-in e-mail (from the windows)
A secondary problem, is that now, every program, INCLUDING the Opera browser, DOESNT find as an internet connection my wifi! meaning, although i connect nicely to the only source i could go online from my omnia, now thats gone too. In addition, where i think the problem with that one is, Under Wifi > Network Adapters > My network card connects to > there is NOTHING to select from.. how do i change this?
Pictures of the problem:

ok, an update, ive come to the conclusion that i *probably* need to restore some registry keys in order to make this god damned phone work at last.. anyone who can provide me with a cab probably? which can restore the previous settings? :S
dont make me format the phone again. please.
you could ring the provider and ask them to send you setting to your

something like a firewall for G3-connections?

well, i'm getting the G1 within the next few days. (hopefully today).
I wanted to put my german eBay-Prepaid-Card in there (you can surf the mobile ebay-portal/site for free and the rest may cost a little.
i don't know how it is, when other programs try to access over umts/g3. As far as i heard, there seems not always a notification when a program is accessing internet.
So all i ask for is a programm like a firewall, where i can choose, what program can access over umts/g3 and which has to use wlan, if available & connected.
Or at least a program, where i manually can enable and disable the data-service (umts/g3) at any time.
In winmobile (on my xperia, 6.5) i just edited the network-config and changed the official (configured) network to a (unconfigured - so not working) network from the drop-down-list. (so when any program tried to access, with the configured it worked and at the unconfigured, the program tried to connect, but couldn't. (at zero charges)
I think, it should be easy to find such program.
Thanks in advance.
Try this Droidwall
hi,am getting an error that I need a rooted phone to run DriodWall. How can I go about the'Rooting' thing!?I know its something like gaining Admin prevs...are there any other similar apps?
goto the G1 forum and look around

[Q] Omnia 7: activating Internet Sharing

Hello xda,
I'm trying to activate the hidden Internet Sharing feature of my Omnia 7. My problem is, no matter what I tried, the settings option "Internet Sharing" does not appear between Bluetooth and Accounts options.
Here is the guide I'm following, for reference:
1. Remove (uninstall) Network Profile application and remove any APN you set up in settings -> cellular.
2. InterOP-unlock your device (Heathcliff)
3. Install DiagProvXML app
3. Using Isolated Storage Explorer deploy enclosed provxml files
4. Install the xml files in this order: hotspot, hotspot1, mxip_hotspotconfig_01, EnableAutoDataConfig
4b. Check in settings that you can now see Internet Sharing between Bluetooth and accounts!
5. Reboot
6. Deploy WP7 Root Tools (Heathcliff)
7. Now launch Root Tools and go to Local Machine -> Comm -> InternetSharing and manualy add:...
Click to collapse
I restored my firmware via Zune to before KK2 and successfully installed InterOp Unlock. I followed the steps till no. 4b, but the Internet Sharing option does not appear. I also executed the "Internet Sharing.provxml", without result.
Anyone encountered similar issues? Any idea how to solve this or what might have gone awry?
Best Regards.
what;s your system version>?
seems that some update fix the bug that we used to deal with .xml file
try some other way
thanks for your reply! my pc system is Windows 7 x64, if that's what you meant.
I also slightly advanced on my issue. I made another backup restore and did all the steps without updating. That way, I could actually get Internet Sharing to appear and even work.
Then I updated my firmware via Zune again to 7.10.8107.79 (KK2 I presume). Now, the Internet Sharing option doesn't work anymore. It says "Connection not shared". I checked the registry entries, uploaded and executed the xml's again, toggled data connection and wifi on/off, without effect. I pretty much did all the steps over.
What could the update have changed? How could I get it to work again?
Thanks for help.
8107update locked some registry key,it makes something do not work anymore
if Internet sharing is really necessary to you ,i suggest that you could use another stock rom,XXKB2 seems work great(i can;t remember ,I'm using a lumia 800 now)
did you tried xda-devs Omnia7 Tango V3.1 rom? it works as well (see:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1571068)
Thanks for your tips. Really seems that it doesn't work on KK2. I'm using my phone as my internet connection at home, so tethering is crucial for me. Alas, a wifi hotspot would have made it so much easier. Maybe I'll try another firmware, but today I'm too fed up with this, spending half my day on it. I'm glad that the ordinary usb tethering still works after I started deleting stuff in the registry! ...bleh
If you roll back to before KK2 and use the Interop + ICS in my sig then update to KK2 ICS should still work.

[Q] Can't download/update apps using data connection on play store.

whenever I try to download or update an app from the play store when my wifi is off and only data is on I'm getting a "xxx could not be downloaded due to an error.(404)"
I tried deleting data of everything market/play store related and nothing helped.
When the wifi is on everything works great.
Edit: if im going to the market site and choose to install the selected app on my devices it will also fail if the wifi is off
Also if it matters I'm using the market fix from LCD modder pro
u answered ur own question. Market has a known flaw when interacting with LCD modder and any dpi changer.
As far as I know the flaw is not being able to see/update certain apps, but after using the fix everything works.
And as I said over wifi I have no issues at all only while using data so I doubt that's the case.
Bumping this because I tried restoring to the original market and I still cant download/update using mobile data.
Would be great if anyone can help me with this.
while in market> settings> deselect wifi only.
Sent from my SGH-I727R using xda premium
It's not selected. I think I tried most of the obvious things but thanks for trying.
have the same problem
Did u fined a solution?
Solution
The solution is: go to System Settings > press "More..." in Wireless and Networks > Mobile Networks > Access Point Names (APNs) >press the menu button, inside the menu press "Reset to default“ > now another option will appear called "Internet 3G" (modem) , besides the "Portal 3G". Choose the new option "Internet 3G" and you are done! =] here's a screenshot:
http : / / i47. tinypic .com /2njbv2u. png (delete spaces)
Solution - works
It worked for me although I didn't change to Internet 3G - just reset to default.
Thx. I already tryed a few fixes that didn't work.
Change proxy settings
I removed proxy settings from my APN attributes and then it worked fine.
Thanks a million! This worked for me and has been bugging me the last couple of weeks. Google support had me clear cache, do a data reset of all the Play store related apps/service, along with flip air plane mode on and off. They eventually sent me to Samsung support and they pretty much went over similar steps outside of trying it in Safe Mode. They even had me do a reset with the phone which didn't fix it either. I knew something funky was going on as my wife's Pixel was also doing it. Now I have both phones fixed!
