[Q] Reinstall Stock Calendar - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I am trying to reinstall the stock calendar on my htc wildfire S. I believe i have all the required files since it was backed up with titaniumbackup. I tried to move the apk into system/app, and changed the permissions, and rebooted but I still do not have a calendar. What am I doing wrong?
Thanks!

Why don't you just reinstall it with Titanium?

What ROM do you have installed? If you have an AOSP ROM installed, such as CM7, you can't use the stock calendar app because it is part of HTC Sense.

I've tried that. I think because it is a preinstalled app, it will not restore it. It says restoring...but it just continues in a loop. Or am I doing something wrong?
I have the stock rom installed, so that's not the issue.

[Solved] How to reinstall Touchwiz Calendar

my calendar kept force closing on me, so I had the bright idea of uninstalling thru titanium backup. I thought by uninstalling, and then restoring my older backup, that I could fix my problem. I was wrong, In doing so, it also deleted the backup file for my calender app. So I got nothing... Any help and guidance would be greatly appreciated. I am rooted and running infused v1.5. Before I installed the rom thru cwm, I made a backup of the stock rom, if that would help.
Thanks!
Edit: I don't really know why our how this worked... I installed an android calendar apk I found by googling. It was a piece of junk, so I uninstalled it, and voila my original calender app appeared!!!

You could try downloading the Infused rom, extracting it(it's a zip file so use whatever you want to extract it) then copy the calendar.apk from system/app to /system/app on your phone.

Anyone try the ICS Music app yet?

I got it to install after uninstalling the old then rebooting, but i get fc's when trying to play music. Anyone else have better luck than me? Im on prime 2.02 btw. Oh and to get it to sync you have to clear data once or twice until it asks you to sync your gmail acct.
Doesn't work... Apparently its honeycomb in general, I checked the Xoom and Galaxy Tab forums and they're having the same FC problems as we are.

I did, it's pretty nice...the layout of the playlist (if you have less that 5) is kind of weird...It looks a lot like the old one, but smaller icons and text...
latest Prime if that helps anybody...
i have the same problem, fc when trying to play music.....now the question : has someone get the original HC music apk to revert to the first one ? Just to avoid revert to nandroid or reinstall rom...thanks
Here it is. Pulled this out of Revolution rom. I think you will have to uninstall the ICS app and then reinstall the stock app with Titanium Backup in order for it to work.
Work around for the FC's, just hit shuffle all and profit
Wouldn't exactly call that a workaround... yes, you can shuffle, but anything else is still causing forced closes.

thanks a lot Getlaid, but i didn't manage to install it using titanium back up......(i'm using the free version), and a normal installation abort.....
Try deleting /system/app/Music2.apk with a root capable file explorer like ES File Explorer or Root Explorer, reboot, and then replace with the stock Music2.apk
Thanks! I think the power is in the reboot! Worked nicely afterwards.

I got it to install, but I don't see the login option in settings for music beta. (
Edit: fixed by clearing data, force stop, then launch.

Titanium Backup isn't restoring Facebook for HTC Sense

I removed all the Facebook crap from my phone when I first got it, but now I'm putting it up on eBay and I'd like to put it back on for the sale.
I backed it up then uninstalled it using Titanium Backup, so I just went into TB and tried to restore Facebook for HTC Sense but it isn't working. It just says it's restoring and sits there forever, nothing actually happens. Installing from unknown sources is turned on in my settings and I've tried rebooting.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I had the same problem, in fact titanium was unable to restore any of the system apps. I had a nandroid backup and i used nandroid browser (available on market) and extracted the right apk's and put them in their respective folder and rebooted. Eureka! Everything was just like before. It Works! Try it out if you can.
Yeah TB seems to hate all my system apps
I think I'll just load a ROM onto it or something, might sell for a little more like that anyway
Have you tried the "restore missing apps + data" option?
And I think because it was a system app and you uninstalled it, the only fix I could think of is put the apk in the /system/app folder & change permissions (if you have a backup of the actual apk files taken from the /system/app folder). Or I would just go ahead with a clean flash of the stock rom. Atleast it would technically be factory set and ready to sell.

In the end I just reinstalled the stock ROM

Calendar apk removed, now won't install

My Nexus S is on the stock rom and I wanted to download some Jellybean apps from: http://androidforums.com/evo-v-4g-all-things-root/574539-resource-apps-jelly-bean-4-1-apks.html and started off with the Calendar app here. Using root explorer, I deleted the Calendar apk that was already there and I was even dumb enough to remove the other Calendar files (one of them was a .odex file and I can't remember the other one). Then I copied the Jellybean Calendar to system/app and set the permissions to r-w-r-r and then I tried to install but I get "Replace app?
This is a system app. All your user data will be saved." before installing, then I tap OK and install but I get "App not installed" every time. Is there a way that I can get any Calendar apk to install successfully?

stock rom? ICS i presume? well, just flash another set of gapps http://goo.im/gapps/ choose the ics one, and you should get your data back since it's synced with Google Calendar.
If you're using ics, unmodified jb gapps cannot be installed, because jb has api level 16, while ics has only level 15, so don't try this
I'm actually running a Jellybean ROM but I tried flashing the ICS gapps which only resulted in FC's and a JB gapps which I found on the internet didn't work either...

Reflash the ROM then
Xxx oops! accidentally beamed from my awesome NEXUS S! xxX
Well, reflashing the ROM made the Calendar app appear in the apps, but I can't open the app and get a force close as soon as I select Calendar. I now also have the other calendar files appear in root explorer but I just can't open it...

Clean install? If not, make a wipe, if you did, try another port, if you're using the SDK build, try the GN port, vice versa

...And now it works! I was hoping that I didn't need to do this, but a full wipe worked. Thanks

How can I remove Facebook Home?!?

Just installed Butterz Sense on my HTC Evo V 4G (Awesome ROM), but I elected to try out Facebook Home... Someone help me remove it now? It's not in my list of apps to remove, never ran in to this before... Do I really need to re-install the ROM without selecting FaceBook Home?
Any help appreciated!
Does titanium backup find your app? If not, go to /system/app and if it's there, delete it. Be sure not to delete something else.
