Hi, I wonder when we could see some custom skins and widgets for PowerAMP we all know that since version 2.0 that is possible.
On the other hand I thought of the possibility of some application to customize the widgets using the PowerAmp public API, I could think of something like Bowtie for Mac or Windows CD Art Display where the users could have the option of make their own skins or install from other users, just like Widgetlocker.
I have created a PowerAmp widget "mod", it hasn't been easy to do and it is not suitable at all because I have used many widgets to create the "skin" so it create more system processes, so if we could have an application to do that for us it would be great.
I have no programming knowledge so the changes I made are purely visual, with help of Photoshop I have achieved a result similar to what a developer could get in a single apk (of course only if this is possible).
Look at the screenshot below to get an idea what I mean.

I hope some developer can do this (of course, if it is possible), I know that many would buy an app that can do this, and many others would donate to them if they can work on something like this
Please leave your opinion even if you don't like the idea and think that this is stupid and I'm only wasting your time, any feedback is appreciated.
If this thread is not supposed to be in here please move it to its right section. Thanks
I was thinking about this just the other day - the Android userbase kind of sucks. I mean, you get a piece of software as well-made as PowerAMP and we still have zero custom skins and zero custom widgets?
Barely anything even uses the PowerAMP API...
I guess fragmentation is to blame once again
I've been searching for poweramp themes as it just is the best player that gives the best sound quality ever! I came across this one:
http://androidforums.com/android-themes/532036-extreme-skin-poweramp.html
It's not very popular yet on the market as you also have to pay 0.76 euro for it. Have not tried it yet but hope this may help

k so i been on google all night and searching and youtubing but yet have i found my answer....im getting my new hd7 tomorrow and switching from a moto droid and on my droid i have launcher7 which is a homescreen replacement for android....and on that launcher i can have ties and my own background....i can set the transperancy levels to were i can see most of my background...now what i want to know is this possible on an actuall wp7 running device and if not is there a way of getting it?
hi
it is not possible just yet, but there are people working on this project and it is just a matter of time when this too will be available.
i really hope so this is really the only thing thats keeping me from keeping this phone...i thought u could change the background an all but guess not....was thinking of just gettting an hd2
It is still worth getting. I have an HD7 & a lot has been accomplished. We've managed to be able to change quite a few icons. See attached screenshot of my device.

well to b honest drkfngthdragnlrd i read your post on how you almost got a custom bg on your start screen and thats the main reason im really considering just keeping the device once it comes in tomorrow....i just hate plain main screens and simple u.i
I totally agree, but I will say, screenshot do nothing for the beauty of the UI in motion & the animations. While it may be simple looking, the 3d effects of the animations look nice. I will continue to try to find a way to add a background among other things. I believe that won't happen though till we can edit the dll's/exe's.
just to show what im talking about this is my current home screen on my motorola droid running a home replacement program called launcherpro 7
This app is the first one I have been able to actually make myself and make it do something. I did this through App Inventor.
It's a terrible app really, but I just figured maybe the community might think it as a funny one
I call it a TrollApp, but there's nothing NSFW or bad about it.
I am just really happy to actually have made my own app (mo-betta appz to come!)

Oh, and since this app is so simple, if anyone would like I would be more than happy to post the source code. The whole thing consists of 3 mp3 files, and 3 pictures. Two timers (clocks in app inventor) are used and.... That's about it. But I am definitely going to be doing more with this!
Good luck to you. And at least you can say, you have made an App!
Everyone starts by learning the Basics first.
Regards and well done.
Thank you for the kind words. TBH can't say I haven't tried before..
I have been wanting to program for Android for quite some time now. I cant even really count how many times I have successfully set up Eclipse and ADK and even ran through the demos quite a bit as well, but I have never actually been able to successfully go it on my own.
Some people would say I copped out with using app inventor (it is actually MUCH easier to work with) however as a negative side note, that's also why this simple app is 2.5mb instead of what it should be for what it is (about 900k). Could be the media involved though.
I have made roms, scripts, and everything else but finally I have made a program
This is a widget to display the usage of memory. Now we provide 11 different color/shape for you to choice. You can find a proper one to match your desktop wallpaper.
That is a first step, with its limit function we just bring an inspired idea about how to develop tool to service digital life. We will develop more function later. If you wanna share your good idea just write to us: [email protected]. We’d like to realize it.

Got sick and tired of the lack of tablet-optimized apps and was wondering what popular apps would like like if they were optimized, so I decided to make a concept of a Spotify tablet-optimized-app. Made two concepts, because why not. Buttons aren't in the exact same places as they are supposed to be, but it's a concept so that shouldn't matter. Hope you guys like them. And of course I also hope developers start optimizing apps for tablets.

Very nice with a touch of material design. I think you got some inspiration from the gmail app, didn't you?
It's just a matter of whether the spotify devs will really implement something like this.
This looks gorgeous
I'd kill for this. Looks way better than the current UI. Especially now since they removed the tabs in "my music" in the recent update. I have an apk that still has the tabs if anyone is interested. It has a different signature, so it won't update through the play store.

Yes, indeed, I did. Just really hope popular apps will be tablet-optimized in the future. Would kill for apps to look like they belong on the big screen!
And thanks all!
I've made a completely open sourced launcher.
Currently it's based on the same "Launcher3" app of Google, and I'd like Android developers help me make it the best launcher out there, yet keep it open sourced and free for all.
Here's a sample of how it looks like (but you probably know how the launcher looks like anyway) :

I think people deserve the right to have such a thing.
Here's the GitHub project:
https://github.com/AndroidDeveloperLB/LB-Launcher
I've also described how I did it (and it was quite hard to do it).
Will publish it to the Play Store when I see enough interest in it.
Would you be happy to work on such an app?
What features would you like to see first?
As this is based on Google's code, I guess it would take me a very long time to understand how to implement things there (Google makes code very complex for me to understand), so I'd like to ask for anyone who can help with this.
In the future, I'd like to do the same for other Google apps, like the contacts app.
Attached an APK and a video showing the app (though you probably know how it looks like by now...) .
I personally would be interested. Currently I'm learning Java so when I'm finished, I would definitely be interested in helping to build the launcher

You can also watch the "the new boston" series on YouTube. They teach about both Java and Android development for free. I didn't learn from there, but if I was a beginner, I would have tried it.
