Whenever I try to charge my phone it immediately switches from AC charging to usb charging, it is the charger or is the port on my phone actually going bad?
I had the same issue and was told to clean the phone port connection. Just put some compressed air to it or blow really hard in there and see if that fixes it. It worked for me.

It could be the port but I would try different cables first.
I have a number of micro USB cables and over time they can get stepped on or scraped.
For example I was plugging my micro usb cables in to my phone and my touchpad and it would get a loose connection.
After going to work I tried my friend's cable and it got a nice snug connection and charged great.
So I would say try ordering a brand new cable of monoprice before you completely call the micro usb port bad.
I have noticed over time the tiny metal "teeth" that hold the charger in flatten out and you can't get a solid connection, I mean mine is so bad that I literally have to have the phone on the edge of the table with the cord falling to the floor to apply the right amount of pressure to get a charge

I had my sensation. For several months now and the charging port has come loose, I bought a new charger and it helped a tiny bit but to get the phone to charge I have to have the cable tight so that its pulling down on the plug otherwise it doesn't make a connection.
Ideas?

I am not sure how to properly explain this but hopefully someone understands what is going on.
My Nexus S (i9020a) doesn't charge properly. The original Micro USB cable that came with my phone frayed and no longer works so I went and picked up a third party one for $20. For some reason my phone will only either charge on an angle or upside down with this charge cable.
(It isn't the cable its self it works perfectly on everything else Micro USB wise)
I do find it weird that I originally thought it was the USB port on the phone that was dying so I cracked it open and there seemed to be no sign of destruction on the board so I put it back together. I then plugged it into my Nexus 7 Asus wall charger with the Asus cable and the phone charges properly no angles or upside down.
Any suggestions besides buying a $24 charger from Google?

I doubt opening your phone will show you if the usb port is broken, unless you opened it previously. The most likely problem is that your USB port is worn out, dirty, etc and it's having trouble making contact with the cable ('charging at an angle' is usually caused by this). My recommendation is to try to clean it. First power off your phone, then try sticking something that can scrape the little metal pads in the usb port. Be careful that you don't bend or snap anything inside or outside the phone, so be very gentle.
Another possible reason, which is a problem I've run into myself, is that the charger you're using just doesn't work with the phone. My Nexus S doesn't charge when I connect it to a generic USB charger in my car, nor does it charge with most wall chargers and the original Wall charger that came with my phone was DOA. The only way for me to charge my phone is at my computer or with some wall chargers that, I guess, output more amps (I'm noob when it comes to electrical stuff! ). If it doesn't charge in one USB port, try connecting to another one and/or switching cables.
If it doesn't charge at your computer, then it's probably dirty.

I don't think the plug is worn out since it works perfectly with my Nexus 7 charger. I did look into the bottom of the phone and it does look a little dirty so that could be a small part of the issue but that doesn't explain why it it would work perfectly with one charger and not another. It does sound like it could be just the wall chargers I am using are not as good as the Nexus 7 charger (When I use the nexus 7 cable and charger the cable seems to fit alot better and it very firm when it is plugged in where when I plug in my 3rd party cable it is loose and feels like it is going to fall out. I might just buy the extra asus charge set from google since I know its a 100% work rate. was just hoping I wouldn't have had to spend that on just a wall chargers. >...<
My charger keeps breaking, to be specific the cable.
The cable is very, very poorly designed. It contains 1 wire which is covered by braided shielding. The wire is the positive and the braided shielding negative. At the point where the braided shielding comes together for connecting to the micro adapter the shielding keeps breaking. This means no charging. I have tried soldering couple times but the shielding and wires are so thin it´s just usable a couple of times, until it breaks again.
I tried to make a DIY cable, but i didn´t get it to work. Probably need to place a resistant over some pins, however on the acer micro usb i couldn´t found one on the board where the micro usb is soldered on. Acer didn´t follow the usb standard with this adapter, the wire inside the cable is white, normally this is data instead of positive.
So i´m waiting for the 2nd time for a new 50 euro charger.
Just curious if more people also experienced this problems.
Yeah, I'm on my third charger now. You can charge them through USB although the charging light doesn't show and it takes about two full days to charge from low to 100%.
I have heard, though that a USB 3.0 supplies enough power to charge the a700. Haven't tried it yet, though. It may be cheaper just buying yourself a USB 3.0 PCI card for your PC and charging to that way.

I had similar issues where I thought my charger was broken, but it was a thermal problem. It seems, that if the charger keeps plugged into the socket for example over night, it can get so hot that it triggers some thermal protection and switches of. To reset the termal protection, It's not enough to let it cool down (which it does on it's own after shutting down anyway), but I had to unplug it for a couple of minutes, then replug it again - charger working!
I never had an issue with the cable though...
I got a Nexus 5 since December, and ever since I've had the phone, I've been having a tiny problem with the USB cord that came with it.
First of all, when I plug my phone into my computer with the cord, my PC would say my phone is connected and then in a split second it would say it's not connected. Then it repeats over and over and over again until I unplug my phone. This only happens with my USB cord. My sister also bought a Nexus 5 and her stock USB cord doesn't do this on my PC.
Secondly, when I'm charging my phone...if I hold my finger on the touch screen, it would jitter and jump around even though I'm not moving my finger. This doesn't seem to happen when I'm not charging or using my sisters charger cord.
Please help because this is kind of annoying... :\
This problem can be easily fixed. Use another usb cable and see if charging works. If it does then it's most likely the stock charger is broken like you said. If it's not a cable issue then it's the phone's usb port. Replace it yourself or RMA it.
about your phone jumping around when you touch the screen while its charging.. get a new charger, its your charger 100%. ive had this happen on all 7 of my android phones. as soon as i get a new charger, with the right volts/watts, it stops happening.
You have a slight chance of fixing the issue by thoroughly cleaning your usb cord. Use an interdental brush and compressed air to clean the cable from both sides preferrably. While you're at it, carefully clean your phone's connector too.
Its astonishing how many charging related issues are results of dirty connectors.
It really sounds like your cable broke though...

I'm Interested to know if Anyone know about a 4 foot to 6 foot Magnetic USB C Cable that Will be able to Quick Charge at QC3 Speeds so the Slow Charging Message won't pop up every time the connection is made.
Please attach Snapshots of the Phone saying Quick Charge and the Cable before and after connection is made and a Link to where to buy it.
I don't understand the large benefit of using such cables.

When constantly connecting and disconnecting the wire to charge with the regular cable, the plug on the phone gets looser and looser over time.
Also, if and when someone might knock into you with the wire plugged in, then it could make your phone fall to the floor possibly causing it to get damaged.
These are just 2 Very good reasons why a Magnetic Cable is a Good Option.

It's Not only for Data Transfers.
When you have a Low Battery and want to charge your phone with a Battery Bank and are also using your phone while walking around and someone or something bumps into or snags the wire, your phone don't get pulled out of your hand.
Also, what about when you have pets that jump around and knock into you or your wire? I constantly have My dog that jumps up on my lap and down when he wants to get down for whatever reason. Sometimes he catches the wire and My phone still stays either in My hand or on the arm of the couch.
And lastly, when you want to charge your phone in the car, you don't have to concentrate on plugging in your phone. Just put the end of the wire close and it connects on it's own and charges your phone.

Ah, gotcha. Out of personal habits. That makes sense. Personally the only time I've got my phone connected is to transfer large files and that's rare. I wireless charge almost exclusively, home and on the go, so I don't have to suffer the consequences of any pets or people pulling any cords out. Wireless is so lovely.
Have you read the comments in any of the magnet wires on Amazon to see if someone can confirm QC3 speeds?

Yes I have, and they either don't know the True Charging Speeds or don't know the exact Specs of the Cable.
For a QC3 Cable, it would have to be a USB 3 or USB 3.1 Spec Cable. Most Cables are USB 2.0 and most people think that's a QC3 for a Magnetic USB Cable.
A USB 2.0 Cable that Plugs into a Phone Will Quick Charge, but that's NOT the same as a Magnetic Cable.

Using the QC 3.0 chargers won't charge the Note 9 at QC 3.0 speed. Note 9 itself only supports QC 2.0, so when you plug it to QC 3.0 charger, it will still charge at the speed of QC 2.0.
These support QC, I've tested with my Note 9 and it fast charges fine. I've confirmed with an in-line USB power tester and it's going up to 9V and is able to supply as much currently as the other non-magnetic USB cables I've used. Data transfer is also working with this cable.
Hi guys the cable from nu wave supports fast charging of all Samsung devices. As you know quick charge 3.0 magnetic cables are backwards compatible with 2.0. But these cables also support Samsung AFC. They have a video demonstrating generic magnetic cables but the actual cable in the product description and images is what you get which supports the above technologies.
