Austin just got LTE and I went with a friend to get the skyrocket. The lag was obvious with the browser but the internet was smoking! It's so tempting to take my less than 30 day old sgsII back to hop on the LTE train. At first glance, i couldn't tell a difference with the display crispness but knowing it's there does bug me. Anyone else go to the skyrocket from the ogsII and have any regrets?
I made the switch and have no regrets.
Can you guys comment on the battery life on the skyrocket vs galaxy s2? Have the skyrocket and no lte here yet but already a bit disappointed in the battery. Plus I figure if its this bad now it must be much worse with lte

I went from GSII to Skyrocket.. I have to agree, battery is not better or worse than most of my past Androids. If anything, this shows better battery life BECAUSE of how LTE should be draining more juice.
Now that ive experienced LTE, its LTE over HSPA anyday.

Battery life for me has been excellent on the Skyrocket .. for me though, I have gone past my 30 days (dammit) .. if there was choice to get the SGS2 or even back to the Infuse .. I would jump on it immediately. The fact that there is MORE out there for ROMs and customization for those other 2 phones than there is for this !!! I figured the SGS2 Skyrocket would have took off in regards to having some neat ROMs .. but I guess I jumped the gun to damn soon.. Even looking at the HTC Vivid, they're in the same boat in regards to getting anything good on there phones.

the vivid has a LOCKED bootloader, and you cant even get perm-root on it. trust me, this is the better LTE phone on AT&T right now.

Ahh just me venting .. LOL
Yeah, the HTC Vivid looked good (was one of my choices before the SGS2 Sky), but with all the crap out there from HTC CEO and his promises, I knew that one wouldn't be the one to get.
I love the SGS2 Sky .. my final choice, seeing that there was many out there for the original SGS2 (all variants) in regards to ROMs, that the LTE versions (ours and Rogers) would follow soon in regards to the selections .. ME GETTING IMPATIENT .. LOL
But truthfully .. it will be well worth the WAIT
I think things are starting to look up for the skyrocket we have johnsondr80 of the collective working on his red sonja rom, mortem taum doing amazing wallpapers, da_g doing at&t and Rogers kernels just to name a few
After using Vibrant for more than a year and recently switching to AT&T with SkyRocket, I'm seeing exceptional battery compared to Vibrant. On moderate use, it never lasted me a whole day. On SkyRocket, I have been using it moderately since 8 AM this morning and after 14 hours, I still have 14% battery remaining.

This phone has the best battery life of the 2 android phones I've had which are the captivate and the g2 and is close to the iphone 4 battery life for me. I'm not in an LTE area but the speeds are already super fast compared to those phones.
I have also been debating between the gsII and the skyrocket because I love flashing roms (maybe I haven't tasted LTE yet), but I am really hoping for great developers to come to this phone. Right now I see a lot of potential though.
For now you could also use the T-Mobile SGH-T989 roms haha.

A beast that in many ways is slower than the 1.2GHz dual core in the real sgs2 which has a ton of development since it is an international phone unlike all this north America carrier specific junk we have to deal with.
Ok so its still a beast and probably highly overclockable, I have to wonder about features like mhl though, the att sgs2 that's already out doesn't come with the adapter, will the sky rocket? I guess the infuse needs a selling point with all these super phones coming out.
I'm still thinking of between the Vivid and Skyrocket, probably Skyrocket though.
I'm not going to do the same thing I did on my Vibrant, and be an early adopter, I'm going to wait a week or 2 to see what development is like, but I truly only want root, and I can wait for everything else.
EDIT: YES! I just looked on the AT&T website, and my area is one that the SGS II (original) wasn't sold, so the Skyrocket is $149.99, and the Vivid is $99.99 for me..
Guess I'll be getting one of the 2. xD

I'm on the fence! I barley became elgible for an upgrade. I was going to go with an iphone 4S and just sell it however the Skyrocket seems tempting. The specs seem only slightly better than my infuse. However my infuse has been buggy lately. Should I stay with the infuse and sell my upgrade? Or should I splurge for the skyrocket? I'm currently in an area that doesn't yet have LTE so AT&T will give it to me for $149

Agreed... If you're looking for development, I'd stick with the SGS2. I think the Skyrocket is going to have limited development and the LTE could cause issues like it has on Verizon with development. Just my own two cents. Or hold out for the Galaxy Nexus.
No issues here. I'm currently running both phones. Skyrocket does everything my infuse does only faster, and the battery last me almost twice as long. Side by side screen is same size, but skyrocket has shorter housing which to me makes the phone feel a tad bit smaller in hand.

the infuse dev will never be what it will be on th sgs2 varients especially not the i9100 or i777 but i think one thing holding up the infuse is that we expexted a quick 2.3 upgrade so froyo development stopped. i mean in janurary samsung advertied the infuse a a gb device. then we got rogers rom but it didnt satisafy everyone. i was gonna start up a rom on froyo and then we got some leaks. but now we dont have source code froyo doesnt look appealing and the gb leaks are dropping so fast nobody is interested in working with them.
i think there will be 1 or 2 decent roms once att says it's ok to drop a new firmware version but from the leaks id have to say samsung isn't ready. i foresee the same situations that happened on the captivate. come december we'll all bring up the add showing the 11 or so devices promised gb by the end of the year (like samsung promised froyo for the galaxy s varients on twitter in the us but att missed that deadline) and att will simply say "we had problems" which is all rediculous because it looks like samsung only started woring on the update 2 months ago, which probably has more to do with att not showing interest in an update than anything else.
Granted, I don't believe the Skyrocket will be getting ICS in a timely manner because AT&T truly sucks in the upgrade department...but I doubt it will be abandoned like the Infuse was. Any phone that can run ICS will be somewhat coveted.
The Infuse became outdated and forgotten because it was one of the last single cores made. There are always going to be people who want the bigger display. I personally hated the size of the S2. I can never go back to a smaller screen again. The think the Skyrocket will hold it's own with the "size matters" crowd. It looks like a great phone and nearly everyone who has one is loving it.
I was at att the other day upgrading gf line to the HTC vivid, I noticed the infuse was off all displays and all the cases and such were locked in a drawer. The rep also told me that LTE won't be up here in Maine until next upgrade, lol, although its launched in Mass. She also informed me that I can early upgrade any of my 3 lines for a diduction of $200 off retail ($450) ill wait another month or 2 than upgrade my line, ill only lose a few months while my 3rd line upgrades next may. Also, my infuse as been super buggy as of late, I'm now getting strange bubble popping sounds with volume off and with out touching anything, this is my 3rd infuse.

Long story short: I am on my third Infuse with constant dropped calls. ATT has now offered to replace my phone.
Any thoughts on what to get. I think my options are:
Atrix 2
LG Nitro
Captivate slide (really miss the physical keyboard)
Skyrocket
S2
The Nitro and Skyrocket seem to have some pretty stellar reviews.
I think the Atrix still has a locked bootloader.
The Slide has the keyboard I have been missing since I got the Infuse.
And the S2 has a smaller screen
Any thoughts on any of these phones?
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
Definately Skyrocket
Captive slide feels cheaply made its very light even with the battery in

From what I've read, all Samsung devices using the Qualcomm chip instead of the Exynos have screen tuning issues. Either way, I would take an Infuse first and the SGS2 second.
wow, no one is giving any love to the nitro. the more reviews I read, the more I am liking it. anyone care to elaborate on the reasons for the s2 or rocket instead of the nitro? reviewing the specs, the nitro seems just as tricked out as the others and even better speced on several fronts. not trying to start a war, just trying to figure out how to best take advantage of att's "generosity".

I'm wondering if there's something wrong with the network where you are - does it always drop in the same place?
No one else has had the problems you have had, and for it to happen with three devices says "network" to me.
I never had a problem with dropped anything while driving - http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0011GI94Q means it's extremely rare to ever have less than 3-4 bars anywhere when behind the wheel.
(I live in the boonies - I often go through areas where no phone ever has coverage, but with the Wilson I'll still usually have 3-4 bars in those places. It has more than exceeded my expectations.)
Just curious how many of us out there are going to move on to the galaxy note. I'm still in my 30 days with skyrocket and trying to make the decision to return it and go back to my old phone until the note comes out. Mr ed,
Were you on LTE when you tested it? How was the reception on LTE? I wonder if it is any thicker than the International version? I may sell my skyrocket and get the ATT version to go with my International GNote if the battery life and reception etc all review out well. I will wait a month or so after the launch to make sure I see all the reviews before moving forward.
Once you get used to the GNote, the skyrocket does not cut it for resolution and features.

Ive had something warm for the Note since its release but couldn't justify buying an unlocked unwarrentied phone (I party too much) My skyrocket has performed amazingly and it seems from the numbers the Note will too. I had an ATT sgs2 and then the skyrocket and I couldn't notice any difference in the processors. Ill have the ATT Note on launch day and Im sure Ill love it.
Hmm... according to red in another thread, AT&T is getting the GNexus.
I seriously hope that's true, so I'll wait a month or 2 (also gives the Note time to mature, and get some dev going, I don't like being an early adopter.)
Sorry if that came across that way...they are NOT getting it

I seriously hope that's true, so I'll wait a month or 2 (also gives the Note time to mature, and get some dev going, I don't like being an early adopter.)

Well then.... ****.
I can get the International GNexus, or AT&T GNote... this will be one tough choice.
I'd love to switch, but just got the combo Skyrocket + Galaxy Tab 8.9. I suppose I can't return just the Skyrocket now. The 30 day return window should be up by next week.
My only option should be selling the skyrocket on ebay. How much are they going for anyway?
Aww man the G Note, i am really wanting one but the screen size is giving me second thoughts. Maybe if i see one in person i would probably have a better decision. If not the G Note i may just hold out for the skyrocket HD with 4.65 screen it could be the perfect size for me.
Mmmm Note is very attractive but I'm going to wait the price get lower....can't wait

Any skyrocket devs going to the note? It would be nice to have some guys familiar with the hardware cooking for this monster. Im hoping that there just has to be some recompiling done to the skyrocket roms to accomadate the larger hd screen. I would guess the faux kernel would work since it says it works with pretty much all GB sammys. I almost which sammy sprung the release on us like they did with the skyrocket lol this wait is killing me
Hi guys i just have a chance to get an infuse but i am still thinking about so i decided to ask for opinions in the best place there is related to android phones: xda.
So what can you tell me about ics and jelly bean? is the battery good or it sucks taking into account it will not have a new battery but a used one for about a year.
Any help will be really appreciated!!!
thx guys
I don't have the infuse any more but ICS was great on it. Battery would last me all day with 3 hours of screen time with usually 30%+ to spare when I went to bed. The only thing I didn't like about my infuse was the crappy gps. Would drop signal constantly and it would often take a while. The strange thing is that gps apps would take forever to acquire a signal but if I closed the navigation app and loaded gps test I'd get a signal within 5 seconds.
Infuse is awesome GPS is not crappy anymore that has been resolved. So if u can get it do.
The devs here are light years ahead of samsung itself.

If the phone works properly and you are paying a fair price, don't see how you could go wrong - you can buy another battery at some point.
Many great roms by extraordinary developers plus support from lots and lots of helpful, knowledgeable users.

There will be those who diagree with me and I understand why- for me I would be tempted to do it as I have a 10 inch Acer A500 that spends almost all it's time in the case- I use my laptop or my phone and am very pleased with my Infuse. Several have left the Infuse for SGS3 - I have an SGS3 and still enjoy using the Infuse about 25% of the time. As long as you are ok not having the 10in. screen, I hope you make the decision that you are happiest with.
Wow I am sold he he ... naw I love my infuse hmmm tab 10.1 hmmmm

i would do the change with you but you are a little far
yep, infuse is a great phone, i sold it for an htc...well lets just say i bought another infuse cause the htc vivid just didnt satisfy me the way the infuse does
You have countless roms to try...so if your a flashaholic...you’ll be in heaven
Tons of helpful people, a friendly community (with the exception of a troll or two every other month...)
i don’t know about other people...but i consider everyone in the infuse section like "family"...not literally but like a little forum family, like a no man left behind kinda group
moral of the story...unless you can get an sgs3 get the infuse!
Hey mg how bout lending a family member a few bucks lol....

If your doing it on a new 2 year contract. I'd say no. You could get something better. Like a HTC one x for $50, Refurbished Galaxy Note $50, sgs3 for $139. I'm waiting for Gnote 2 but if they want over $200 for it I may go with Gnote. Samsung Unpack starts today!
ICS and Jellybean seem to be working awesome here by the way. At least for me.

Bah!! When did the developers make the gps worth a damn? I sold it when I bought my s3.
Zeus 6 ROM had great GPS. And its snappy. I've used it on my vacations. Infuse isn't a bad phone but I'm thinking of upgrading to the Note 1. I think its a good decision coming from an Infuse. Half a gig ram more 1.5 ghz dual core a larger screen , longer battery life. Samsung adding jelly and butter. Also it'll get some of the Note 2 features sounds like a good investment for $50 bucks.

But you would need an upgrade to get the penny deal...and I don't think he's using an upgrade...

The Note is for $50 at At&t web only deal refurbished with new contract. I originally wanted the Note 2 but I don't want to wait another 3 or more months to get it. I think they have a refurbed S2 for $39 too..not sure. If your thinking about it get before its banned. Its on Apples hit list.

I have an iPhone 4 now but I had the infuse and it was pretty awesome coming from a Mytouch 4g but I wouldn't get on contract with it...At all.
The battery life isn't that great, neither is gps and video chatting.
I've heard there's better android phones on the market if android is what you're looking for, searching around is best to make sure you buy a phone that's 100% you.
Check out the skyrocket too my ex boyfriend had one of those basically the same as the infuse but the think the battery life is better.
