Just bought the 3D wonder..need some how to - LG Optimus 3D

Hi all..I just got my LG 3d and I'm happy with it..I managed to update it to the official 2.3.5 and I find it satisfying to some extent,I also rooted it using SuperOneClick and all is fine, but I need the CWM Recovery which I don't know how to do it..any help to direct me to how to install CWM recovery is appreciated, and I am also hearing that it's possible to activate Sony Bravia Engine in videos and photos,is it true and really working?cause my Brother got his Arc S and always bragging about his Video and look how it's great and look how it's shiny...blah,so I wanna kick his ass if it's possible..thanks in advance

Install Rom Manager from market and from there you can install CWR. For the Bravia Engine, yes, there is a thread in apps forum.

Abo mara7 why u left us from adslgate forums?I was waiting for u and I am soooo thankful for ur tutorial on how to update it was great, but the problem that I can't find this ROM manager in the Market, there are other rom manager apps. but not the regular ROM manager u mean..u tested the Bravia Engine already???Thanks for ur interaction

First of all: This is the Android Development forum. Your question does not belong here. Sometimes I don't get it, why it seems impossible to choose the right one out of FOUR subforums for each device. But no offence. It's not just you
Second: It is impossible to not find the Rom Manager from Clockworkmod. It is always the first result if you search for "rom manager". Here you go: https://market.android.com/details?...xLDEsImNvbS5rb3VzaGlrZHV0dGEucm9tbWFuYWdlciJd
[EDIT] Misread something of your first post.

It does not hurt. But if everyone did it, this forum would be messed up soon. Your question would rather go into the general section.
You can install the Bravia Engine. There are actually some Roms including that per default. I don't know if its good or not. Did not try it.
It seems like you can install it by yourself (See: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1352859 ). There are also some sample images on pages 2,3,4 I think. But as far as I know, this is just post-processing. No improvement of camera-quality. Just screen-tweaks that should make your sceen look better in terms of colors and saturation etc.
Give it a try if you want...
Also note that many Roms already include some good camera and video improvements.

ur reply is really awesome thanks alot, now,I installed ROM Manger and when I try to install the CWM recovery,I choose the device (Optimus 3D)..but soon some progress and then boom error!I tried that for 10 times and still..donnu wat to do..cause I wanna try one of the ROMs u mentioned..any suggestion?and what ROM u think is good and stable?

If you have succesfully rooted your phone with superoneclick, it should be no problem to install the CWM. Maybe there are some problems with the root. You could try the superuser app ( https://market.android.com/details?...wsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5ub3NodWZvdS5hbmRyb2lkLnN1Il0. ), which grants su-rights to the apps.
Also be sure to check the right device when installing the CWM. You have internet connection while installing? CWM is downloaded before installing first.
Regarding the roms: There are some good roms out there right now. Everyone choses his/her favorite ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1359795 ). Currently I am trying the Acura Rom, but the ones from ThiaiZ and King are very good, too.
Just watch out, when you try out a overclocked kernel. Not all chips handle 1.2GHz without problems. If you encounter freezes or reboots, go to a lower frequency like 1.18GHz.

such an awesome reply from u..I managed to install CWM and I backed up my stock rom just in case, thankful for u,but I have one little question though left for me,in case things messed up,and the phone bootlooped, what can I do?I mean is there a way to reinstall the stock rom like I used to do with my Galaxy S2 via Odin?

You can always go back to stock using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18082599
But keep in mind that you will loose root access and CWM recovery.

To make your life easier looking for the SGS4G Bible. It's generally on the first page of the dev forum anyway, but there you have it. It is full of amazing things you can do!
Flashing a custom ROM would be the traditional thing to do. I'm assuming you've never flashed a custom ROM before, much less on a Samsung phone.
So things to look out for would be learning Odin and ClockWork Mod.

In he bible i see a list of things to do but im so new to this i dont know the order of it all what do u recommend i do first??
The first thing I did after rooting was use this thread to learn how to flash my first ROM. From there you should be able to figure out where to go with your SGS4G fairly easily!
Im confusedddddd !!! jjajaja ill get it .... thanks so much !!
do i make the changes with the phone plugged in via usb or on the phone directly?? sorry its just im not fully understandig here
after you read that guide. download odin from the bible under the "useful files" section. then follow the noobs guide to odin (also in the bible) to odin "bali 3.3uv". i think it was posted by fbis in the dev section. this will give you the latest clockwork mod for the phone. with this...you are ready to flash. go to the dev section and choose your rom. when you figure it out. let me know and i will walk you through it.

i appreciate all of your help ,,,,, but how do you transfer from pc to phone?
when you plug in the phone, it should ask you. if not, make sure you go into settings applications usb settings and choose mass storage
can you please suggest one to me im to new at this .... i looked around but didnt really understand,,, thanks
Search around the forum and see what sounds good. Make sure you read carefully too, before there's another "OMG, I BRICKED" thread. Even in the event that happens, be sure to search around the forums for immediate answers too.
We can't really tell you what ROMs to flash, as everybody has their own personal preference. However, if you just want something simple to flash, I think nothing gets more simple than Bionix Frost by Team Whiskey. As long as you read carefully, there will be no problems.
Good luck.
First you're gonna need CWM, which comes with the Bali kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1195860
Next you need a ROM, lots of people were using this rom (icbinb):http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1157593
If you're not willing to read and follow instructions then please don't try to mod your phone, you might brick it.
As many will mention to you and have mentioned, the bible thread is your friend:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1117554
Read and click, read and click.
How about icbinb 2.3.4? I an currently running bionix frost

if you installed rom manager delete it and take the update.zip from krylons thread and put it to the root of your sd card..
*Note*
Newer kernels dont require this as cwm is built directly into the kernel..

I figured that it may work with a vibrant ROM as I heard it works on the regular galaxy s, so I Odin back to stock, reinstalled Rom manager and flashed cm7 for the vibrant...now my phone won't even boot...what gives? Can someone tell me what I'm doing wrong? It's almost like Rom manager doesn't work on this phone or something. If you installed it and didn't use it, no problem.
If you used it to 'install', then you earned a one way trip to using Odin to get everything back.
Raver, if you don't mind could you please make the title have capital letters and not lowercase like it does. There is no reason for it other than everytime I open the forum, it bugs me. Also, what is up with the "bold" html command ""?
I wonder what goes through other peoples heads when they decide hey I'm going to root my phone and install a custom Rom. I mean the first thing I did was a Google search on how to root SGS4G. That lead me to XDA. Then I found the actual SGS4G forum and began searching for guides. This was the same process for my MT3G and my G1. I don't understand why people would just grab Rom manager and assume it's a cure all. Boggles the mind.

that works out fine if the first thing you get led to is xda, but if you are unlucky like me then you end up at joe schmoe's tech blog or something similar and they tell you that any android phone can be "hacked" with superoneclick and rom manager. thats where the true issue lies, imo: that not the sites state the same info and most of that is wrong.
Thanks raver!

+1 Sure there were multiple sites related to the subject, which is why you take a little bit of time to examine more than one. I know I didn't just click the first option and run with it.
This post got me thinking. We have the SGS4G Bible but apparently it can be a little overwhelming and too much information for some people to digest before they start modding their phones.
Keeping the biblical theme maybe a simplified "SGS4G TEN COMMANDMENTS" that contain the ten most common questions and answers, noob mistakes, and does and don'ts in one place. Simple, easy to read, and easy to refer people to. For example...
Commandment 1: DO NOT USE ROM MANAGER...EVER!
Commandment 2: DO NOT FLASH VIBRANT ROMS....EVER! - THE SGS4G IS NOT A VIBRANT!
etc, etc....you get the idea.
Any thoughts?

Your good intent aside, if you post your response with clear English then it may get a better response. I had trouble reading anything you said.
It only takes two seconds to use a spell checker and correct punctuation.
You might start with your signature.
With that said, I hate it when people don't say "thanks" when someone tries to help.
Ok, let's say something INTERESTING... I'm a advance user, I just was asking for a easy ROM install, if you don't have the answer or you are not polite... bye then.

you say you are 'a advanced user' but you dont know what CWM is....you need to read up on the terminology used here.
you are likely to brick your device by not understanding what you are doing. this website isnt a 'make your device cool' site. its a learning tool for devs/hackers/enthusiasts to learn and share ideas and work. if you dont comprehend what you are doing, then you dont need to be hacking on your device.
Also xda can be entertainment i get alot of laughs reading some posts on here..... and that advances my good mood.

[Q] Help on rooting Inspire4g

Hi all,
I am new to this community and new to smartphone.Very recently i got Inspire 4g with android version 2.3.3.I am very much interested in updating it to ICS.But from internet sources i have heard that HTC will most probably not give updates to Inspire 4g.So,the only option left to me is rooting. So,can someone kindly suggest me actually how to root my android device to ICS from scratch.I know nothing regarding rooting except that rooting gives administrator privileges.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance!!
First, you don't root to ics. Second, try actually looking in the development section

Inspire will NOT get an ICS rom officially. You can only run roms after rooting. HTC is not releasing an ics update for our phones, the desirehd will get one but you can only take advantage of that if you are rooted. and as mentioned please do a bit more searching, as all of your questions have been asked many times.
Another thing to keep in mind before flashing/installing an ICS rom, there is not a single ICS rom that is fully functional at the moment. With most of the ICS roms besides small bugs here and there (that is if they still have any) either the camera or videocamara or both do not work and will not work until the dhd gets the update. Most of the roms in the dhd forum will work with the inspire.
As i ha already been mentioned, read and rea some more. You'll find a lot of nice "toys" to play with.

Just like the 2 members said ics has some bugs I used it from some other devs and from having a good cam and video to work was important to me and yes you can use 3 rd party but was not all that good.
Also understand the importance of backups this is some info I posted else where but its nothing special may help or so...
No need to say sorry lol...your ok just hate so the new ones get cyber yelled at by some mod and close your thread and not getting your answer.
But even though it maybe not be for the rom that your running but also check out the Q&As of those Roms.
And also I know the htc inspire thread for ROMs is always on top of the game here but just letting you know as well Desire HD forums is I would say you should go for the most recent ROMs and updates etc.. And yes Desire HD can be used for the Htc Inspire so thats where Im at for the most part..
But if you ever get a boot loop form a rom you flash make sure you fully wipe (sorry just funny every time.you will see what I mean) from rom to rom unless other wise...If you still happen to have the PD98IMG file still on your sd card happens when you 1st root and for get that its there delete I use Es File Explorer to find whats on the sd card there are others astro file manager. Also This happen to me once when I flash scripts, gps fix, kernels then the rom that I was going to use and it just totally F'd my phone or re boots random or just gets stuck on the htc screen..
But I had made this post for another user (new) maybe this may help:
So this is an idea of what I do when I flash a rom and some other ideas/tips.
Getting Started or Flashing A Rom:
Once you root your phone (this is not in any order really) you should get ROM Manager aka Clock Work Mod. Once you get that, open the CWM and the first top half you will see flash clockworkmod recovery make sure your on wifi I would at least for the updates. You will see a dialog box click desire hd. This will allow you to make back ups of your settings that you made when you flash a rom its always a good idea to make your backups its a life save!! So, once you made your back up and this is what I do.. I plug in my phone to the pc switch to disk mode which will let you see whats on your sd card. Since you flash the CWM and recovery you will see on your sd card a folder called clockworkmod open then backups folder you will see you back that you made, drag and drop that backup file that you made to your fold that you made on pc to save it for later. And thats pretty much how I save my backups of roms etc.. Now if you need to load that back up just plug phone in disk mode cwm fold>backup drag and drop back up that you need. And boot into recovery mode and select back up and restore and select restore and the file boot and your good..
I would download which Rom I would like to use. Save it to pc to a folder that I have made that I store all my roms, backups, radios & rils, kernels..etc.. just to keep myself organized. Once you get your rom just drag and drop it to the ROOT of the sd card do NOT add it in any folder thats on the sd card. Once you have it on the card just boot into recovery flash your rom.. Other then that its easy to flash the rom.. And when you get all your settings set up make a back up and when done save it to the pc and delete it from the sd card if you dont want to keep on the card I do that..
When it comes to battery life it depends on what the rom.. But I like to use killers http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...ht=killersolth scripts for the kernels.. For me I always flash a different kernel upon flashing a new rom. For me having the kernel and killers script is the best combo for me to have for performance and battery life.. now since I have inspire I use the uv lites scripts.
For the most part flashing radios & Rils you would never really need to do that so I wouldnt recommend it for now maybe later but read about it its good to know what it does..
Other sides which I for got to add.. When you flash a new rom its always good to wipe user data.,cache, delvik it makes it for a good clean install with other roms..
Also the desire HD thread which the inspire can use the roms from that thread to.
Well I hope this helps you in any way.. if you need help PM me best of luck
SORRY FOR SUCH A LONG POST HAHA
Sooooooooo if you had ?s about Roms or Scripts,GPS not locking on after rom flashing,KERNELS (are my fav) let me know PM me

With some valuable suggestions i have downloaded ICS ROM from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1450962
and a stock ROM from here http://www.htc.com/us/support/htc-inspire-4g-att/software-updates
So,i have a doubt now.In case if i screw up something while rooting can i go to stock(right now i have 2.3.3) and which is the better ICS ROM available for Inspire 4g for a starter like me without any bugs.
Any help is appreciated,
Thanks in advance!!
Well once you root your phone its rooted just can't add a stock Rom to it to make it stock. There is thread in the inspire forum called returning to stock or something like that like as in stock out of the box the members name is genepool I think I had to use that to unroot ny friends phone it was very easy ... So keep in mind that you need to unroot to go back to out of the box stock Rom.
As you may know as my other post always make a recovery of what you have on your phone just in case.
Sandy I also messaged you about your ?s to the ICS roms

your best bet (imo) would be to check out the ace hack root kit...and read that thing repeatedly...that's what I used to root mine...as for roms go...every ics rom as stated before has some sort of bugs or errors...you will just have to try some that you like the best.....keep in mind to ALWAYS backup...backup...and backup again to be sure in case you jack something up...this site has TONS of info if you search for it..lol
Thanks all for your replies.
So,should i wait till desire hd gets a stable rom or what?
Another thing to keep in mind before flashing/installing an ICS rom, there is not a single ICS rom that is fully functional at the moment. With most of the ICS roms besides small bugs here and there (that is if they still have any) either the camera or videocamara or both do not work and will not work until the dhd gets the update

There are a few good ics roms, but none will be rock solid until its released officially to the DHD. Then we can have some goodness here on the inspire. The few that are out there are solid enough for now.
Welcome to xda, big rule is to learn to search. That question could have been answered very quickly by searching. I won't give you the names of the Ics roms out currently for that same reason. Search and ye shall find.

It's not the problem with searching but confusion as i am very new to smartphone, infact it's my first smartphone. Most of the guys in this forum own like above more than 2-3 smartphones.so,there won't be a issue fixing things and knowing things.
That's why i constantly ask doubts and ask for senior suggestions like you people, hope you don't mind and keep giving me your valuable suggestions as always you do.
Thanks.

My friend so will all the replies and input I would say find what rom you like or seems very popular so if you need anything you know that thread is "alive", root your phone, backup, and flash the rom that you pick out. Once you do that go through all the set up.. and take that backup and save it to your pc(thats what I do) not to throw you off track here but there is kernels that will help out battery life like I stated in one of post. I would also look into kernels, which kernels are very easy to flash and scripts to match with the kernel but I think your ready
I have been watching this video to unroot http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y0eMcpoTPMU in case if i screw up something.I have a doubt with what the guy is doing. In that he downloads the Froyo Stock rom from internet. But,my doubt is what if we alreay have the file with us,how can we flash it.I have downloaded the stock rom(Gb) from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1208507&highlight=inspire+s-on.
So,how to flash the above file?

Ok, if you want to revert to stock and S-ON use Gene´s Method. Put the file (named PD98IMG.zip) in the root of the sdcard and the boot in hboot.
Never flash a froyo RUU if your phone is running GB. You will mess the bootloader. DON´T USE YOUTUBE TUTORIALS, just do the homework and read.
Have in mind that if you mess your phone no one but you will care. You can also use the last version of the Hack Kit to revert to stock and S-ON....
Thanks for the reply,Yes,i downloaded the gb stock as i was shipped with it.
My phone is an unlocked one. Will i have any problem while rooting, please advice as I am thinking that the stage is set for me to root my device and flash an ICS rom.
Thanks in advance!!

Your phone is an unlocked one? Where did you buy it from?
This is quickly turning into a "please hold my hand while I root" thread....

SQ#1 Is CWM the same as ROM manager? and how come when I DL it to puter it was like a metafile or something, no .exe and no .apk?
SQ#2 How come everytime I click a link in this forum it takes me to something called iLivid and wants me to download the download manager, which I aint gonna do.
SQ#3 I've been reading alot about Cyanogen Mod and Paranoid Android roms, Certainly Cyan seems pretty popular, Is it just a matter of taste and or function which one to choose?
I sincerly hope these questions were stoopit enuff for you guys, Thanks

1. No, CWM is clockworks recovery, which is a mode that the phone boots into to allow us to flash stuff we normally can't. Rom Manager is a software that is to help manage and download ROM's but doesn't work with our phone since Cyanogen isn't official for our phone.
2. Sounds like you have some spam or spyware in your PC, I've never heard of iLivid and have downloaded almost every ROM on this site and none of them every asked me about that.
3. Yes, it's all preference. There CM, Paranoid, AOKP, AOSP, etc. It comes down to what you want to run on your phone, how much you want stability over having to have the latest, etc, etc.
SQ2 it is an ad I think. Look in the top eight corner and you should see a skip this ad button.
