Hi guys, I would like to share my experience on rooting and flashing the custom firmware on my P1000.
Initially, my P1000 was preloaded with froyo 2.2.
I flashed my P1000 to the gingerbread 2.3.3 and subsequently upgraded to v2.3.5.
The major difference between 2.3.3 & 2.3.5 is the lock in screen. 2.3.5 no longer have the fixed slider at the lockin screen, to unlock, just touch anywhere of the screen and you will see 2 circle lines, and then slide out of the 2nd circle will do.
A few days ago, I degraded my P1000 back to 2.3.3 and flashed with Overcome 7 v4.0.0 edition rom.
It is working extremely fine and fast, still monitoring it, but so far face no problem at all.
Thanks guys for the overcome 7 rom. Fantastic.
I am looking ahead at Honeycomb custom rom for P1000.

OVERCOME 4.0 is great. But I think CM7 or MIUI are also fast and fine, with more freedom. You should lookong ahead at ICS, personally I think the Honeycomb custom rom is meaningless now.
Reports are allways good.....
But you have used the wrong thread group. Please use this thread and report it there.
Because this thread group is only for apps and themes, NOT for roms. Thank you

Does anyone know if the new CM6.1 rom that dropped in the past few days works on the Samsung Vibrant? Or any other really great froyo rom. I have axura 2.0.4 right now but I wanna see if anythings better. Thanks!
Hi there,i have installed bionix v 1.3.1 on my vibrant, and it looks and feels quite good, but since it was based on android 2.2,i started to search for other custom rom with android 2.3,and i found Cyanogenmod 7 RC1,i have flashed it,used for while, and honestly found it not as good as bionix v 1.3.1,because of poor battery life, weak gps performance, and i really missed swype and touchwiz,so my question is,can you guys recommend me some other roms(stable if possible, and with swype and touchwiz)based on Android 2.3,for vibrant.
Thanks a lot for reading, any advice will be great.

Ok Guys.......here comes a Noob question....
To start off with I am familiar with rooting & flashing my Epic 4G.
But my wife has an Evo Shift & I'm not familiar with the ROM's out for the Shift.
Since the GB update rolled out her phone has been lacking & a little buggy.
She complained about the launcher redrawing, checked it & she is almost out of memory (internal) with very few apps installed.
My question is: I'm looking for your opinions on a good stable ROM with the bloat removed to free up space. She liked the phone better with Froyo so that could be an option.
Thanks in advance.
You could try Supreme sense 8.0 its a hybrid rom of 2.1 and 3.0 sense its very smooth and stable ive been running it for a month now no random reboots or nothing only bloatware is sprint hotspot and thats all.
this article might help install: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1201233
Closes to froyo is the mikshift rom expect its gingerbread and from what i've read has no problems and is closes to stock
She's probably used to Sense and would complain but if you really want to free up memory then I'd suggest an AOSP ROM like CM7. Or she might like MIUI.

If you want something that is very close to stock. You can try MikShift v1.1, it's Froyo 2.2 . Or if you prefer 2.3 Gingerbread, MikShifted G v1.76. Both are Stable, Smooth, and very quick. Even on the stock Kernel, without Overclocking.
supreme sense 8 or cm7 nightly.

There are some very nice and stable ICS ROMs for the A501. There is also a stable, but not quite complete Jelly Bean ROM which I am running. (JB 4.1.2) The two best places to get an ICS ROM and support is Moscow Desire's Evil Alex ROM (hosted on xda), which I understand is based on the stock Acer ICS ROM... however, you will need to upgrade your bootloader to an ICS bootloader. That can be scary for someone new to flashing. An alternative is TegraOwner's ROMs built by Thor and Digitex, which can run with your current Honeycomb bootloader or a custome ICS bootloader, if you wish.
I used to ron Moscow Desire's 3.2 ROM which was very nice. I never have tried his ICS ROMs. I pretty much stick with the TegraOwner's ROMs now because they are well fast, feature packed, stable, and well supported. If you want to run one of Thor's ROMs, you will need to upgrade your CWM Recovery to Touch Recovery v1.7.3. You can find this and all of Thor's stuff on the TegraOwner's site, as well as a lot of support in the forums at forums.tegraowners.com
The final and most stable ICS ROM for the Acer A500/A501 is the TegraOwners ICS v170. If you would like the newer Jelly Bean ROM based on CyanogenMod 10 and Thor and Digitex custom kernel, you can it and support here: forum.tegraowners.com/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=680
(You'll have to copy/paste the links into your browser since xda is preventing me from creating links due to my low post count)
The Jelly Bean ROM is real fast and stable. They are still working on gps, hdmi, and a few smaller issues. They will get them ironed out soon. Hope this helps.
i just got a Virgin mobile LG Optimus V from a friend and i don't really want it as a phone, i would really like it as a iPod sort of thing and i'm new to rooting and flashing roms so i need help with it. i have already rooted it using gingerbreak and i would like either a 2.3 or 4.0 rom . (not really digging android 2.2) whenever i look at the forum for a rom on here the links are always broken so can someone help me maby walk me through flashing a rom and which is the best? another question. if i install a rom with either 2.3 or 4.0, will i be able to use apps that require 2.3 or 4.0?
the play market docent have alot of selection for froyo 2.2.
For flashing rom just google it
for a good rom try gingersnap by neko95
apps frm 2.3 will work as o1 is upgradable to 2.3.1 but apps for 4.0 will not work
Press THANKS IF I HELPED
You can try LeWaOS by me.. link is in the description
Ics roms have some bug's so let's try gingerbread based roms they are good.
