[Q] ROM update - Touch Pro, Fuze General

I've got the Windows mobile 6.1 ROM version 5.2.20764 from 2008
There is an update available on the european HTC website. This will update the device to 5.05.478.1
This update is from 2009, but it looks like an older version (05 and 2). Is this a newer update or is it better to keep the old version? There is also an update to 5.10.172.2 but this update is from Vodaphone which is not my provider. Is this update newer and safe to download (so I can still call and stuff)?

yeach, all update original rom already in http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs

Thanks, but does this mean I have the latest ROM? Because I don't know if it's updated since it's bought, because I'm not the first owner.

Official Mango update 7.10.7720.68 for Trophy

Hi guys,
http://www.filefactory.com/file/cd831bc/n/RUU_Spark_S_HTC_Europe_4.06.401.00_5.69.09_RELEASE.exe
Back up your data before, you will loose all.
If your Trophy is branded, use the gold card method:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10176994#post10176994
It worked well for me!
I wish you all a nice weekend!
Thank you. This works fine for me as well.
Would this work for the Verizon Trophy? I'm a bit confused at the difference between the Verizon Trophy (SparkW, I believe?) and the other models, but there seems to be a difference. At least there is in trying to install the DFT ROMs.
Thanks!

If you have the Verizon Version, AKA the Spark_W. DO NOT ATTEMPT the GSM roms.
They will Brick your device. There is no current NoDO (AKA factory rom) available for the Verizon HTC Trophy, so if you got there, there is no way possable to attempt to get your phone up and running again.
I wish someone would release a Verizon NoDO rom that works, so we can play with out as much worry.

Official rom for Europe, I don't know if it works for asia...
Work only for unbranded devices, must use a gold card if branded (it worked well for me).

both download link are same. no differences, i think.
Anyway in 1-2 weeks, mango is comming, confirmed with M$
I'm on the Mango RTM now & had no success using the timing hack. Anyone has any idea if there even is a "HTC Update for Windows Phone" for the Trophy? On a GSM Trophy in Singapore.
Thx!
What system languages are available in this ROM? I got the official Mango update yesterday, but Swedish is not available as a system language there (only same as before: English, German, Spanish,..)

Yes, I got a "HTC update for Windows Phone". I was on Mango RTM before and successfully updated just now. Not sure if this is the official Mango but I do see the firmware is updated. No more "not for sale" during boot up.
Is this the only update required for official Mango?
No bro GoingInside, that probably means you were on Build 7714. So you probably got 2 updates from 7720 -> HTC update, yes?

Bro e_t,
Mine should be mango, just not 100%sure if it's RTM or official Mango. I was on RTM Mango all the while. Recieved a msg from M1 (yes, I'm from Singapore) on Wednesday afternoon regarding a new update.
I did not roll back to noDo and just connect my phone to Zune while still on RTM mango. Immediately got a "HTC update for Windows Phone" and proceed to update. Once update is completed, I applied the CustClear.provxml trick and now my Phone is still chevon unlocked. All previously side loaded apps are working, including the Mango apps such as Whatsapp. Followings are observed after update:
1. Connected Media works (was not working in RTM mango)
2. During boot up, no "Not For Sale" logo
3. OS Version is still 7.10.7720.68
4. Firmware is updated: 2250.21.40601.707 (was 2250.21.12200.707)
5. Radio software and Bootloader version are also updated
This is the only update I received. So mine is 100% official mango?
Yes, but looks like your upgrade path to RTM is different from mine, coz I dun have the Not for Sales splash screen.
Yes, you're now officially Mango. I wonder if my upgrade last time affected anything coz I did not flash all the cabs when I move from RC to RTM.
Bro GoingInside, you said u got a msg from M1 as in SMS?
i downloaded and installed DFT 7720 rom
Compare with the Official 7720 is same, so i wont go to official mango
Bro stussy, I don't wanna lose any data & I'm don't side-load apps so I prefer to go with the official ROM. Now all I need is the HTC firmware upgrade for Asia WWE. Either that or the cab file so I can use UpdateWP.exe to manual update...

Got a message from 'someone' but don't think it's an SMS cos I cannot find it in my MESSAGING. Can't remember exactly what's inside the msg cos I was having lunch and just brushed it off.
But confirm I got an SMS from M1 (20000) later: "please rate the service you just received from M1 Officer: 1-very good, 2-Good, 3-Average, 4-below average, 5-Poor. Thank you."
After that got another SMS from 53011 (M1?): "A new service/update has been added to your M1 Xplorer Menu. Pls restart phone to refresh the menu. This msg & update svc is free." I did a restart but didn't observe any difference.
Maybe you would like to give M1 a call to check with them.

Can you confirm if connected media is working? This only works after I did the HTC drive update.
The M1 Xplorer thingy is for Feature (dumb) Phones using Java Midlet &/or SIM card based application. They used to have a Xplorer software for Windows Mobile but it is not applicable for Windows Phone 7. I also have this message but it's not for Mango rollout. Sigh...
Microsoft has expanded Mango rollout to 50%. Looks like I'm not there too.

[Q] Updating DS to the new shipped ROM

Hi... I am here in the Philippines and wanted to flash my DS using the RUU_Saga_S_HTC_Europe_2.10.401.8_Radio_20.4801.30.
0822U_3822.10.08.04_M_release_225161_signed.exe found on the stock shipped ROMs. I just want to ask the following:
1. Since it's a Europrean release, is it compatible for my DS in the Philippines?
2. Will I still be able to receive and install future official OTA updates after flashing this ROM?
3. What's new with this release compared to the prior 2.3.5 release?
I am thinking of flashing since HTC hasn't released the official OTA in Asia yet. I heard it might be end of December. Couldn't wait no more... TIA.

1. To flash a version for different region you will have to use a goldcard. Once installing it, there is no more warranty for you even when it is Stock, since you bought your phone in the Philippines with the local stock version on it. Using the European can also affect the performance, for example the baseband of your mobile carrier can be different, and the radio can have some differences accordingly.
2. You will receive and be able to install all future updates for Europe. But to repeat again - even using Stock, but for another region if you have problems with the device this is an indication that you have changed the software = no warranty.
3. There is some change in the libraries. Up to this moment the reported imporovement, as far as I know is a working Exchange synchronisation
In general if you insist on using Stock software on your phone is better to wait for an official update for your region.
Thanks for that information. I guess I'll have to keep on waiting. Thanks a lot

Can you run software updates on roms?

I understand this might be a dumb question, but once you install a rom on your phone can you update your phone's software like normal to a newer version(if there are updates to be had) or do you have to install a new rom instead? I currently have Android running on my HD2, but my girlfriend wants a WP7 rom & she was curious if, once she had it installed, she could update it to the newest version naturally as updates came out or if that might ruin the rom. Again I know this question is probably very novice, but I thought it was a good one.
The HTC HD2 has a fully functional WP7 Mango and it won't get updated to Windows 8 (Like ALL the phones including the Lumias)
So there won't be any updates avaliable.

Thanks for your reply Georges! I guess I was just curious if I ran a rom that was based on an older version of WP7 for any reason(like 7.0), if I could do updates on it from Microsoft or if I needed to just flash an entirely new rom. Also, if I can't update then I suppose I was wondering if you could supply a link to a really good WP7 rom thread that is running the newest version. I checked the Microsoft site and apparently the newest version is 7.10.8773.98 (http://www.microsoft.com/windowsphone/en-us/howto/wp7/basics/update-history.aspx). I found this one (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1665651), but it seems to suggest you need to have a Lumia phone. Not sure.

[Q] Updating HTC Mazaa to Windows Phone 7.8?

Hi, just started new job and found out we got HTC Mazaa for testing. The thing is it got WP7.5 Mango build 7.10.7720, check for updates shows nothing.
The question is what is the best approach for updating this device to latest Windows Phone 7.8? Should I use the Seven-Eighter tool described here?
http://windowsphonehacker.com/articles/want_windows_phone_7.8_now_try_this_easy_tool-01-31-13
Is here anyone with HTC Mazaa who already updated the device to latest OS? Is it stable when there was no newer firmware update since 7.10.7720?
Thanks for answer

I have updated my Mazaa to 7.8 - you only have to follow the same setup that you would to force update any WP device, using the cab sender tool.

[December, 19th 2018] System update 1.24.709.994 rolling out

Hi,
New OTA for TW devices.
I'll post link to OTA later...

[emoji1] in Europe we are still on december 2017 ...
HTC doesn't deserve our support anymore...
At least in Europe.
I got that update here in the states but I'm wondering when will give us 9.0 pie
This is the reason why I convert my European model to TW device...
Cheers
I'm still on December 2017(EU). My last phone from HTC, that's for sure. Next year i will buy an One Plus.

Short story before I get to my question.
I have a U11+ bought direct off HTC in Hong Kong.
I have had no updates since Dec 2017.
Wrote to HTC in Europe about the lack of updates and got this amazing reply:
------------------
Thank you for contacting HTC.
In regards to your enquiry about updates, kindly note that after running the serial number provided, your device ship country is Hong Kong.
Which means, it is not from EU region, and devices from the Asian region most of them cannot be updated and have no option to update.
------------------
Soo I checked through the XDA forums seems the TW version of the phone is the only one that gets regular updates.
Then I unlocked bootloader and downloaded HTC_U11+_TW_1.24.709.93_Images_OTA from nene bear.
I didn't install TWRP as I was going to return to stock and just be happy with the updates hopefully coming from the TW version.
all went smooth thanks to all the excellent posts and help on the forum.
378 fastboot flash -S 1G system system.img
379 fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
380 fastboot flash boot boot.img
oh and I relocked my bootloader
Yesterday I got a message about new update (I'm currently on Vodafone in Ireland)
I downloaded but it wouldn't install see the 2 screenshots.
ahh can't post the screenshots because i'm a new guy
its says:
cant update cause i may be running a modified version of system software....
I wonder is that because i turned of the boot lock once?
Or is this because of my CID is still HKG ??
I'm going to fire up fasboot and try and side load the update I downloaded from nene bear as I don't have root access and i couldn't find the update on the phone
I saw an interesting thread from handsome_hell about changing cid
Would the TW version or the WWE version the best for updates.
RGDS W
I have both TW and EU version of HTC-U11+ (both rooted with Magisk 18.0) and will apply OTA on TW only when RUU will be available (as I had - probably self-caused - problems during previous update of TW version).
I am not too advanced but AFAIK the phone needs to be "s-off" to change the CID to apply other region version updates smoothly, which is not available yet for HTC-U11+ (maybe I am wrong).
I hope for the EU version updates a "shortcut" directly to Android 9.0 (which was announced for HTC-U11+), otherwise the neglect of EU updates is really weired.
Today I got an answer from HTC support why European version U11+ did not get security updates ...
Sorry for for the answer but we can't say why 11+ is not getting security updates.
That's all [emoji1787]
Okay. I switched to a Pixel 3, great device and just the right size compared to the U11+ for me.
Bye HTC. Great devices wasted by a poor support...

Ah Thanks for the reply
I did have further conversations with HTC customer service regarding updates they said this:
------------------------------------
note that your phone is due to receive Android Pie very soon and this will be communicated via system notification message on your phone once the update is available for your phone, we are sorry for any inconvenience.
------------------------------------
It still doesn't explain the lack of regular security updates on the U11+ but my friends U11 has had 2 or 3 updates bought the same time as my U11+
I tried to get into recovery last night but got a red triangle Ill try it again later, got into the bootloader and download mode fine.
Think Ill end up going down the TWRP and Magisk route and change the CID just a bit more reading up to do.
Rgds
u11 + model is selling in taiwan because the small updates take that region. I think he's looking at the sales figures. But if it's just Taiwan for the update, it won't be able to sell anywhere except Taiwan. International brand, will be the domestic brand.
