Recently, this week, Skyfire began to freak out really bad. Video drops at least 11 times, like somebody pushed back button. I've been using skyfire for heck long time, and never seen so many errors like that. So pissed now. Hoping to see hulu app ASAP.
PS: Internet connection is stable, and I have been using the site, playmyvid.com, for months
Does anyone experiencing such behavior with Skyfire?
I guess its only my issue... Anyone using Skyfire for watching TV-Shows??
I am about at my wits end and ready to sell this thing because my music stutters sometimes when multitasking. It happens most often when using the browser (open new tab, clink a link in an app that sends me to the browser, etc) but also occasionally happens just switching applications.
This happens when using the stock player with my own local .mp3 files as well as when streaming using either Pandora or Spotify.
I feel like I'm back in the days of my old Pentium I / Win 95 machine and I just don't think this should be happening.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any tips on what to try? My next things to try are factory refresh and also a different music player (although I don't this will have any effect). I also have thought about getting an app from the market that will tell me cpu usage.
This is a WiFi only xoom, still stock, but soon to be rooted if I decide to actually keep it. I've had it for I guess 2 weeks and the audio stutter is one of the first things I noticed and is actually a big deal breaker for me since the main reason I bought the thing was so I could listen to music, watch movies, and browse the web. I'm just not sure if I got a lemon or not. It otherwise seems fine.
Factory reset should do it. Everybody says back up your apps but I never do. I like to go on the search for apps anyways
I get this as well. Bit annoying. Hope ics fixes it.

My music stutters like every two minutes. Even if the phone is resting
Droooooiiid.. the sound forever in our hearts and nightmares <3
same problem here. Since the very first day. I really hate it and every update I was hopeful that it will be fixed. Well, ICS is my next big hope...as long as it is a software issue
If it really bothers you that bad use a diff player from the market. When I use one it no longer stutters.. but i m a fan of the stock player otherwise

Have the same issue on my Xoom. Doesn't happen on my Galaxy Tab 10.1 though....

Happens to me with the default music but not Slacker or Pandora. Hmm...
Thanks for the replies. I guess I will have to try a factory reset. I'm using power amp player and still have the problem just like with the stock app. Power amp has an option to move to a larger buffer, which I'm hoping will help, at least for my local files. If not, factory reset is next.
Seems like a device with these hardware specs shouldn't have this issue though.
I think its not the hardware more the fact that honeycomb is a bodge job just to get into the tablet market.

Yes, this happens to me and is annoying. I try to ignore it so I don't remind myself I have a 600 dollar tablet that can't play music and browse at the same time

OK, I now have used Set DNS and set my wifi to Google DNS and get much faster downloads and that seems to have really helped with this music stuttering issue while browsing. I used both the updated PowerAMP app playing mp3s from my micro sdcard, and also streamed music using Rhapsody and no stuttering, no effect whatever, as I surfed. I don't know if this will help you, but it seems to have solved this problem for me.
Thanks I may try to give that a try. I don't really know how to do any of that, but I'm sure I can figure it out with google.
The $600 tablet that can't play music and browse comment is exactly why I have a dilemma. I wooted the xoom so I would have to sell it at whatever loss plus spend the extra $250 over what I paid for the xoom to get an iPad 2 of the same capacity of 32 GB. Even the 16 GB iPad 2 is still $150 more. Not that money is the issue, I'll spend the extra if I deem it worth it, but I just feel like the tablet market is changing quickly enough that who knows in 6 months to a year I'll probably want to get a different one any way, no matter whether I have a xoom or an ipad 2 right now. I really have grown to like the xoom and don't want to get rid of it over basically this one issue, and it's not like I can't get around the music stuttering issue by using my ipod or phone. I guess it's just that I feel I shouldn't *have* to do that.

The Xoom is really an awesome device and I think it will actually get better with a bit more time. Its problems basically are related to software and there are some solutions now and more coming. The DNS thing is something I hadn't bothered with but I saw something about that app (ugliest icon ever) in Android Police so I checked it out--very easy to set either Google DNS or Open DNS or another, depending on what works for you. I think the app requires root, but you can probably find a way to change it if you're not. I recommend rooting anyway, for a smoother and richer user-controlled experience.
Thought I would just revive this thread and say that I'm really glad I held on to my XOOM because I've been running some of the ICS builds and haven't had any music stutters. I had one moment of music "crash" where the music makes an awful buzz sound for a moment, which is because of using the equalizer built into the music player on ICS. I've had it multiple times on my GNex and it is already widely noted that equalizer may cause music to do this. But as of yet, fingers crossed, I haven't had a single stutters on music when multitasking. It would happen most often upon clicking links in a program that would then open the browser. I haven't done a ton of testing, but have listened to music for a good 4 hours now on my XOOM with EOS ICS while surfing and installing apps and what not and haven't had any stuttering.
In general ICS has made this tablet 10x more awesome than it was to start for me. It was a bit of a disappointment at first, has grown on me with time as I accepted it's shortcomings, but now with ICS is a tablet I'm excited and proud to own. Can't wait for official ICS and more ICS roms.
I installed dolphin about a week ago and it seemed OK a first, now it seems to not respond or go painfully slow when taping a link or going to a new tab. Progress bar starts to move then stops half way and pinwheel spins forever and nothing happens. Tried clearing cashe, no good. Double checked settings, all is well, original browser is disabled, dolphin is set as default browser.
Any input will be appreciated.

sounds like network related.
try reset to default and reboot twice and/or power device off fully for a few minutes.
My network is OK, I have two Epic's, sprint phones and they work great on same network. In fact I was trying to place an order with Amazon on tab and had to stop because of the way the browser was acting. Pick up phone and was able to finish order in less than a minute, same network same Wi-Fi.

I also have a problem with dolphin, my crashes when I click on the address bar. Nothing helps, does anyone have any solution?

I suppose I would uninstall the app, shutdown the tab, then start it back up and re-install the app and see if made a difference. If not, I'd head over to the Dolphin site and see what they have in regards to help, tech support and forums.

Will try that, its painful trying to use the browser the way its acting.

Problems that I have:
1. I get the crashing as well sometimes when clicking in the address bar.
2. It's one of the few apps on here that can manage to completely freeze the tablet.
3. Lots of completely random crashes resulting from loading pages.
4. Fails to download most of the various files that are on the free file hosting services available.
But all that said I've used it across so many devices and for so long that it's the only browser that I really feel comfortable using full time. If there was an easy way to migrate my bookmarks and saved form data it might be an option.
i'm using dolphin and im always getting FC radomnly in one session..
i keep it up to date but its still get errors with it..
I second the fact that it is the only app that has been able to completely freeze my tablet. Also the back of my tablet get really hot when using dolphin even though it does not seem to drain the battery any faster.
Using Opera Mobile as my default browser.
Dolphin will FC on the tab 7+ when the URL is too long. I believe this is a bug. Reported it last month but doesn't seem to have any patches released to solve the problem...
Which one are you guys using?? The HD one or the one for Pad?? The HD one works fine for me. No FC at all, go try it out.
Update.
Unistalled dolphin, EM developer about issue with browser but have not gotten responce back. Went back to stock browser and that's acting the same way, slow, won't load pages even after five or more minutes, pin wheel just keeps spinning in add. bar, and forget about Google images that's even worst.
Installed Opera, same crap as dolphin. They are so bad I can't even place an order on line, internet access is usless on this tablet. My Epic touchs browser is super fast, and can place orders no problem.

Not sure what the issue is with my browsers but still can't get browser satisfaction, is it possible that I need an external SD card in place in order for the browsers to work properly? I have no SD card in my tab, been waiting for a sale to pu a 32 MB card so I have been using tab without a card in place.
Can anyone give me some input on this.
Tried dolphin HD, opera Mobil and still same crappy results, slow loading pages, even with images turned off, slow as molasses, and forget about trying to purchase online, not happening.

For what it's worth, dolphin works fine in my LG optumus 2x. Only issue I have is that it crashes whenever I rotate the screen horizontally.
Good luck!!

No tethering, have broadband at home, dlink router with great speeds and very little or no traffic on router. Same network I use with my SGSII Epic Touch and laptop.
I'm starting to think it's a bug, because I search in all kinds of forums, blogs, you named it and I don't see any complaints about this issue that I have. Three browsers and they all like crap. Have not D/L much stuff on Tab because i get past this browser crap. This is the wifey's tab and i never hear the end of it, wah wah wah, she needs it for work, graphic artist w/childrens ware company. Including shot of speedtest on my home net. this is avg.

If my other Internet devices download fine on the WiFi and I have done a Factory Reset, plus uninstalling and reinstalling Dolphin as well as the stock browser not working, it's time to get a replacement under warranty or talk to Samsung. What's the point in having a tab if can't surf the internet?

Going to contact Samsung, maybe they'll have a fix for me.
Thanks for the input.

Hi guys,
I'm an Android poweruser, but definitely no guru, so I decided to share this problem with you guys. Although less urgent, it's still bothering me.
I've recently (a few months ago) purchased my TF300t. For me, it's the perfect device. However, with all it's quad core magic, the browser frequently hangs on me. Sometimes, it just works perfectly, but other times it freezes for about 5 seconds after which I receive the force close image. Would I press wait, I could continue browsing. Until, of course, the next pageload. This might seem like something minor, but it completely ruins the experience of having a great quad core tablet.
Here's some facts:
It happens all around the web, although some websites seem to trigger it the most. An example of this is the website foodgawker.com, which is a responsive website. However, this website never gives problems on my S2 with CM9.
It happens randomly. At one moment it may happen each pageload, or it may not happen at all for about 15 pageloads. Feels random.
Other browsers either give the same problem, or a terrible browsing experience.
Yes, the problem occurs after a factory reset
Yes, I've upgraded to the latest available firmware.
After a lot of dialoque with Asus, I sent it off for repairs. But as expected, all they did was wipe everything on it, and the problem still exists.
In the meantime, Chrome for Android seems to have been updated, and the problem is less apparent.
My questions:
Does anyone else experience these kind of problems with their TF300t?
Would unlocking it and installing CM help?
The reason I'm asking is because I want to determine whether or not this issue is hardware related. I don't want to be messing with custom software when I'm not totally sure the hardware's fine.
Thanks in advance

Yes, exactly so in the stock browser or clones. Hitting "Wait" often seems to fix it. Just shifted to Chrome and haven't seen it happen. Got to say not impressed by the browsing experience with any browser - slowwwwwwwwer than I expected.

So you have exactly the same problem? That kinda saddens me, since exchanging it won't have any use then. Are custom roms known to fix this?
I also have this issue....however after using the "brows2ram" app and root access, it seems to have 90% disappeared.
search XDA for the brows2ram app, install, reboot, and grant superuser permission and it seems to help a lot.
after a lot of reading here and the TF201 (prime) forum it is a fairly common issue and most of the users believe the 5th companion core is to blame.
basically downloading/scrolling (two main things in browser) are both handled by the companion core...so when this is done, it boggs down the processor.
i have yet to hear if someone experiencing this on stock OS also experiences is on a custom ROM....would love to hear this.
but if you can wait, Jelly Bean should be here pretty soon....and since jellybean was built around the nexus 7 which has almost identical specs, all lag should be gone. i expect JB to be here by september....hopefully.
in the mean time, brows2RAM has helped tremendously and makes me not even have a desire to unlock and ROM this thing.

This helps me out so much! It would explain why browsing is the only thing lagging, and games like Dead Trigger work flawlessly. I also forgot the Nexus 7 also has Tegra 3. I'm guessing Jelly Bean will work flawlessly on this tablet.
Thanks to your post I'm going to stop trying to solve this with Asus, as they'll probably won't admit this. I'll keep using chrome until the official update is here. I don't even think I'm going to root, because Chrome works acceptably!
Thanks!
Edit -> Also; September? Asus is that quick? I guess being used to Samsung, anything is quick.
I'm running hydro on tf300 with the stock web browser
the pause and wait option does still happen, but very infrequently
when I was on a stock rom, it happened all the time
now with hydro it rarely happens
And how is fluidity of web browsing? Because for me, even on Chrome, the experience isn't what I'd expect from a high-end tablet.
Try Ics Browser + and enjoy.

web browsing seems fine on hydro
there are still the normal hick ups from time to time
the difference in speed and fuidity between hydro and stock is night and day
after being on hydro for about the last month
I really don't know how I could even stand the stock rom
on hydro everything is super charged, super fast, super smooth
I've noticed the same problem on the stock rom, for that reason I switched to a early version of cm10 with jellybean. Haven't seen it happen again ever since
I noticed the stock browser which I preferred to use on the S3 doesn't have an option for text reflow (auto-fit page option), and more surprisingly the phone gets quite warm around the camera, anyone else noticed.
Try Mozilla Firefox or Dolphin or Chrome, they should all have text reflow, waiting to get my s4 so I can't help with the heat issue you asked about.
