No matter how many times I flash any ICS rom my battery never charges, I wipe everything data, cache, dalvik and battery stats, nothing it only charges if I go back to gingerbread roms. Anyone experiencing this or has a solution?
Thanks in advance for anyone's help.

This happened to me also it seemed to have been a kernel problem, not sure how but Use Rom Manager to install the koush ics. I did that and everything got fixed.

Hello everyone!
Phone: nexus s 3g running stock 4.0.3 with matr1x 14.0 kernel
my 1st question:
i was wondering how can revert back to stock kernel without flashing my stock rom again or going back to my previous backup?
i know it is very easy to switch from kernel to kernel but i would like to know how to switch back to my stock kernel. If you come across a link please send it to me. Thanks much appreciated.
my 2nd question:
my phone reboots the 1st time when loading up matrix kernel.
what happens is i press the power button .. the phone boots up normally then halfway through the animation it gets stuck and the phone reboots BUT this time the boot animation works properly and i am finally booted to my phone. Note that i have absolutely no issues running the kernel + BLn + Voodo etc (also not oced either)
question how can i solve this? is it normal?
I have one last question (sorry lol)
about voodo colour is there anyway of removing the grren flash that i get from unlocking the phone.
i know i can reset to 2.3.3 colours and that does do the trick but i would like to use my own custom settings..
stock 3.0.8 kernel can be found here in 3rd post
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1399273
Questions regarding matrix should be asked and may already be answered in his thread
And green flash is common on kernels with voodoo it also turns screen green occasionally for me when auto brightness set
not sure how to fix haven't researched doesn't bother me that much

Alright...
First off is this a specific rom? Like kustom kream, nexus beam..
Or just stock ics rooted
Second, try this again.
Get the rom zip again, then get the kernel zip again.
1. Wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache
2. Flash rom
3. Set up rom
4. Go back to cwm
5. Wipe dalvik cache
6. Flash kernel
7. Reboot
Did you do it like that?

Green flash can be fixed by downloading the voodoo control app in the market then going to the RGB profiles then selecting the voodoo profile

Green flash can be fixed by using either 2.3.3 colors or punchy

im on offical ICS 4.0.3 rom stock (rooted) with matr1x 14.0 CFS
well i downloaded matr1x through rom manager and after wiping dalvik cache i flashed the kernel.
is there anyway of fixing without clearing data? i have a lot of stuff on my phone i would rather not erase... also im on stock ICS so how would go about flashing it again(its not like a rom i can just dl and install or is it)?
speaking of which i know titanium backup backs up apps but does it also backup like my contacts, sms and phone settings etc?
update: i went ahead and only deleted cache and dalvik cache and then installed the kernel again. same problem =/

I'm 17! You want to teach me the basics of modifying roms? How'd you learn? The reason I'm asking is I'm gonna major in computer engineering at Drexel University in Philadelphia. I know Java already.

exact same problem ....
followed ur steps perfectly.
anyways i just restored everything back.
wow your 16 !
im 16 aswell i dont even know the 1st thing about making kernels and so forth lol.
Lol sorry you couldnt get it to work...
The only other suggestion I have is to try another rom...

thanks for trying .
anyways the thing is the kernel works perfectly fine other then that and sinc ei dont reboot my phone so much its really not an issue for me.
just another quick thing since that is the only problem i have experienced with the kernel and that everything else is fine working fine should i be worried about stability?
No, the kernel is pretty stable out of the box.

Since upgrading the CM9 kernel to a custom one, my phone will not boot once shut off unless I clear cache and dalvik. Is this remotely normal?

Thanks for the reply, anyone now know how to fix it or is it a wipe and reinstall?
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using Tapatalk
Try reflashing the kernel first and see how it goes. If that doesn't work it is probably best to wipe everything and reinstall.
i had a similar issue with matrix 14.5...it would boot loop unless i cleared the caches...i played around with the voltages and governors for awhile..and it was ok for a day or 2 then it started it again...so i ditched matrix and went with speedy 5 and i havent had a problem yet...

Your phone can't handle undervolt. That's the problem.
I use matr1x, have done since gb days and have never had a problem so its definitely just your phone.
Thanks for all the replies, just went back to stock. Can't have my phone acting up now that I am working. Will reroot once the update to ICS happens on Sprint.

When you really make a clean install of rom and kernel there shoudn't be such problems.
When changing KERNEL always follow this steps !!
1) CWM format /system and /cache
2) go to advanced menu, wipe dalvik.
3) Then reinstall your ROM, then flash kernel right after.
No data loss, system exactly as you left it, only difference is new kernel.
If you are switching to a different ROM, add format /data.
I can no longer use my home hard key.i went into revovery mode cwm and wiped data/factory reset and cache partition and dalvik cache like i was supposed to to stop the black screen problems.everything was fine before this but now my home hard key does not work at all.ots as if it dosnt exist as well as my search hard key.this is vital to me and use it alot.some kindly help me with?there dosnt seem to be anything in these forums about this.

doesn't work in CWM or at all? have you tried flashing another rom or kernel (I've heard custom kernels do this sometimes)? a last resort would be doing a full wipe and reinstall/reflash
blazing through on my Nexus Prime via XDA app
Can you still get into CWM? that would tell you if it's a hardware or software.

gummy is kind of outdated at this point. you should really try tweakstock or eclipse with one of the other kernels (pjb, IMO, or TS repacked). see if you still have the problem.
It works...but only when i wipe data and reflash the gc rom.i cannot figurw out wats causing it.but after so long it jis....dissapears lol.i know it works but only wen im in a call n press it it goes to the main screen, other than that it wont work until reflash.also wat kernel can i flash that still works with gc...ive become accustomed to it not sure wat i need to flash a new one or if its necessary.pretty sure ive got wats neccessary sitting in my folders ready to go tho.yeah its outdated but from wat ive been and keep reading is how gc seems to be very prefered to many users.im looking to get the best jus like everyone else.amazing kernel amazing stability amazing fresh look.and user friendly.if humble or eclipse is worth the truble, sure ive got most the knowledge trying to peice it all together here.and thanks in advance fellow drooooooooooid users

Every time I put my phone to sleep it freezes and reboots. Sometimes it'll reboot fine, others it'll freeze on the google boot screen until I pull the battery. I've tired 4 different ROMs from locked stock to unlocked Cm9 to baked and slimbean. I've tired dirty flashing. I'm out of ideas now. If anyone could help out I would greatly appreciate it.

Flash stock? Try a different kernel then ROM specific. Factory reset.

My knowledge ends at locking/unlocking and flashing ROMs. How do I change kernals and how would I know which one to change to?

Changing kernels is exactly like changing ROMs. You flash them, although, you have to wipe cache and dalvik cache every time you change a kernel. Look in the developer section for our phone, there are 3 kernel choices: Matr1x, Marmite, and Air Kernel. Test each out on different ROMs, find your favorite. Be sure though, if you're going to be hopping between Android versions (4.0.4 (ICS), 2.3.7 (GB), and 4.1.1/4.1.2 (JB)) You find the version of the kernel that corresponds with whatever version of Android the ROM you're using is running. As far as I know, Marmite is only available for JB, Matr1x has kernels for all versions of Android (GB-JB), and I think Air only has ICS and JB versions. Hope this helps!

Hi..
It either some junk files u have floating around ur SD card..
Or
Are u tweaking the CPU when u install the ROMs?
Or
Are u using titanium backup to restore any of ur apps?
Try to do the entire factor reset/ wipe both cache & dalvik but also flash a zip file call "wipe all" ( it formats everything under storage and mounts except the SD card stuff)
Then flash the newest slim bean 3.0 it comes with a good kernel
Flash it and do not add anything. Check if the sleep reboot issues still occur.
If not then make a backup b4 adding ur apps and restores since one of those can be causing it.
I hope it works... good luck

Clear cache and dalvik cache, that is a sense kernel so make sure u are using a sense rom, also ur phone might not be able to handle the settings u are using try changing them until it is stable. If all fails use stock kernel or another custom kernel.
