booting clockworkmod recovery gives me a blank screen - General Questions and Answers

I used ROM manager to flash clockworkmod and when I touched reboot into recovery mode, the screen just goes blank with the buttons still half lit. Nothing happens.
This is a Optimus V that's been rooted. I'm trying to flash a Cyanogenmod rom and this is a step I have to take before doing so.
Anyone know what's going on here? Any general tips?

[Q] Question about recovery OG Droid

I cannot get the recovery flash to stick. My phone is rooted and I downloaded ROM Manager and flashed clockworkmod. I pressed boot into recovery and it worked.
I rebooted the phone and then turned it off. I hold power and "x" and it loads the stock recovery with the triangle and exclamation point, I press volume up and camera and it's the stock recovery mode.
I go back into ROM Manager and flash alternate recovery (SPrecovery) and then I turn off phone and boot with "x" and power and it goes into SPRecovery. I then reboot and then turn the phone off and it goes back to stock and I cannot get back into the SPrecovery mode from power off.
Why does it seem like it keeps resetting? Am I doing something wrong? I've tried flashing clockwork about three times and I can only access by pressing the boot into recovery on the app but not from a powered off state.
Why does it do this?
Android 2.2.2 FRG83G stock ROM.
I posted this a week ago and got 0 responses... does no one have any ideas or links you can send my way to help me out?
Should I try and flash an alternative recovery manually and not use Rom Manager? Any tutorials for that?

Can't boot into recovery After using NVFLASH

hi all i have a T-mobile G2X and im trying to root this phone so... i try to flash CWM using NVFLASH and everything goes according to plan but once i try to boot into recovery by pressing both volume up and down buttons nothing happens. Once i flash stock recovery phone boots and everything is back to normal but once i flash either version same thing happens again. I tried searching but couldn't find a solution. So if anyone can help me or point me to the right direction i will appreciate it.
You boot into CWM recovery by holding power + volume down (do not touch volume up). Hold the keys a good 10 seconds and wait for the fancy LG logo. Once you see the fancy LG logo (not plain white) you can let the keys go. You will then boot into CWM. You are just pressing the wrong keys. Don't boot that way into stock recovery as it will do a factory reset on your phone.
I seem to be having the same problem, except that my phone only shows the s/w update screen and wont revert back to the stock recovery when i try. nvflash just leaves my phone on the update screen for hours. it will boot up normal if i pull the battery and put it back in, but it only shows the s/w update screen when i try to boot into recovery. any thoughts?
To boot into Clock Work Mod Recovery, you press and hold the "volume down key" and the "power/sleep" button at the same time.
Hold the buttons all the way through the Lg boot logo. After a short moment, you will see a distinct "purplish" bluish glow to the logo. At that time, release both buttons.
You will boot into Clock Work Mod Recover and ready for flashing

This command does not work on the P999. Recovery is not on the standard partition and this command will only reboot the phone. To reboot into recovery (if you have CWM installed on the physical recovery partition and not installed by ROM Manager) you need either Weapon Rom installed, which has this built in or there is an app on the Android Market written specifically for LG 2X/G2X devices that knows where the recovery is installed and can reboot into it. On some G2X (P999) models it says not compatible because of the way LG wrote the build.prop but instead of saying "Ok" which closes the program you simply use the back key to get to the main program screen and it works like a charm.
This app is also preinstalled as a system app on my roms.

Thank You everyone for ur help. Ive figure everything out and im now running MIUI ROM.

[Q] Cannot get into recovery on g2x

Hello I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but i been looking for the whole day and i have found nothing. The problem is I cant seem to get into recovery mode. I tried reflashing it with the one click recovery flasher but I cant flash it with the CWM 5.0.2.0 its says "not enough quota to process this command" but I can however flash with the stock recovery, but once its done and i turn it on it just stays at the blue LG logo. When I hold the volume down + power it boots into the stock recovery but then it reboots itself and im stuck at the blue LG logo again. Anyone know wats going on? Thanks

[Q] Phone boots into ROM but not Download or Recovery (d2vzw)

I've tried to search for a similar issue but none of the threads I found were able to really help me.
So I recently flashed Dirty Unicorns 3.6 to my d2vzw and decided the ROM wasn't for me and wanted to restore my backup.
Unfortunately I cannot access either my recovery or download mode to try and restore or just flash a new ROM. I've tried booting into recovery with the button combo, from a terminal, ROM toolbox, goo manager. nothing works. the Samsung screen comes up and then goes black and nothing happens and I have to do a battery pull. When I try and get into download mode I get to the vol up/down to accept I press up to move forward into download mode, the android logo loads up and it says "Downloading do not turn off target" at the bottom, and then the screen goes black and i have to do a battery pull again.
The strange thing is if i want to boot back into my Rom I have to attempt to boot into download mode first then do a battery pull and let it reboot and then it will boot into the ROM.
If anyone can help me figure this out I would really appreciate it.
Thank you

Once your phone is booted up open Goo Manager, press Menu, then "install open recovery script, then yes. This will install the latest recovery (TWRP) and may fix your issue. It's worth a shot.

[Q] Bricked Samsung epic 4g touch?

Hello, i am having a big problem with my samsung epic 4g touch! Im not sure to exactly what caused this... But i was installing the CW Mod recovery with ODIN. Then i rebooted off of download mode. And my phone stays on the booting screen. I heard of this many times. But this booting screen has a type of caution sign below it, i am still able to enter recovery mode and download mode. In recovery mode, ever single option says -NO though.. Im not sure if i bricked my phone or what? Can anyone please help me!
Thankyou.
Get back into download mode, flash cwm again, GO STRAIGHT INTO CWM!!!! The ROM you had before using ODIN will not boot, you're forced to boot into recovery immediately. Make sure you have a ROM zip to install a ROM right after, you'll have issues if you try to boot TouchWiz stock. The triangle on the GS2 logo is normal, it means you've flash custom stuff through ODIN.
