I hsve the keyboard up and running fine, but i was having trouble not being able to close the keyboard like the default kindle keyboard, as it hides the soft buttons atthe bottom of the screen. Anyone know of a solution? Thanks in advance.
A downward swipe is supposed to close it, and in fact it does work on the Kindle Fire with the NON-Tablet SwiftKey X. However, the Tablet version doesn't respond to Swipe down. Urgh.
Randy
yeah swiftkey tablet x does not swipe down for me either
As a temporary workaround I've been using the cog to drop down the toggles menu and then the keyboard closes

Force close?
Has anyone experienced a forced close of Swiftkey X tablet? I had it installed and was using it but after a couple of days I start getting the app failing and it being forced closed and it appears to continue after that. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

i would go in and re install it (through your file explorer. that clears up all the issues with lots of others). i havnt had that happen to me although i switched to swype pretty quickly.
I'm using Switkey Tablet X on CM7 about week now, and i'ts working perfectly.
To close keyboard I'm using back button on status bar, and never experienced any troubles.

I'm running cm7.
I can't decide which to purchase, swiftkey tablet or non-tablet. any opinions?
Dont purchase now, try the Beta of version 3. Its totally awesome, you should try it. just google for swiftkey forum, register and grab the beta
Try thumb keyboard, it works well and you can close it

This is what I've been using and it works well. Would like to see them merge split the keyboard with a simple gesture like the keyboard on the iPad, but other than that it's been good.

I have been trying to get swiftkey to work but its having issues. Whenever I bring up the keyboard a second later it just goes back down. I have tried re-installing the app but same issue. Anyone else having issues with it?
I'm using SwiftKey to type this reply. It's been working smoothly on my device.

I have a problem whit swiftkey
I am running swiftkey on ICS. My phone is a Samsung Galaxy SII
the text is displayed wrong on the display. How can i fix this?
i have a screenshot.. but can't post it here. because i have to type 8 messages before i can post images.
For some reason I can use the swype keyboard feature only the first time I install the swype keyboard. After that I can type each letter but it won't let me swipe anymore. Any suggestions?
I am having an issue with Swype as well: I cannot get it to Auto-space. Any help would also be appreciated.
There is some issue with it in HTC Sense Messaging. I have the same issue. If you use Handscent it works though.

You need to re-license it. It kept doing that for me over and over again so I got rid of it. Using Shapewriter now...its basically the same thing.
Yes swype is very bugging on this phone. Only works with well with 3rd party messages apps. I have reinstalled several times, with the same results. Hopefully an update will fix.
There are version of Swype that can be found that are apparently for the EVO. I am not quite sure if it is an older version, it may very well be but I heard that it works. Just some food for thought!
the only issue I have is that it doesn't work on a fresh reboot right away.. I have to enable the touch keyboard (stock) and then change it to swype after that and it works fine until I reboot my phone

Same, the easiest way is to just open up any txt window and hold your finger there until the "Txt input" box comes up.. choose standard, then repeat process choosing Swype.

same workaround ive been using.
After dealing with the same issues I switched to flext9. It's not as pretty as swype but does the same thing and has surprisingly accurate voice recognition, which I use once in awhile. Hopefully the first update from HTC includes a stable version of swype so we can all stop dealing with the licensing issues.

Swype beta works fine on the t-bolt, like the previous post says one issue is that it doesn't work after you reboot, you just need to enable the stock one again and then re-enable swype, takes 2 seconds.
Another issue is it doesn't work well with the HTC facebook/twitter app. The app has built in auto complete which messes up aftermarket keyboards. If you use something like launcher pro it doesn't matter, or 3rd party widgets.
I found a working version on swype on my TBolt. It took me a while to find this but finally got it working for me, doesn't reset after reboot or anything, and it's not a beta version I don't believe. It's the full version and haven't had any problems with it at all. Send me a PM for the link...
I got the eco swype apk, works great for me.
This sometimes happens, switch between stock IME and Swype on a text area and it should fix it for a while
I switched to slideit keyboard and I prefer it over swype beta.

keyboard lag
Thanks for the quick reply. The problem with the lag in the keyboard is on all sites with message boards or forums...I.e. yahoo, YouTube, etc... I have no lag when doing emails or typing in notepad. I have tried half a dozen keyboards, but the problem persists.
I called Motorola, but they were more interested in telling me they have no fix because no one has complained about that before, and I could just return it.

The keyboard lag still exists in 3.2. It's pretty ridiculous that there isn't a fix yet.
On a side note:
Another thing that is annoying the hell out of me is when I pop up my keyboard and start typing it opens a random program.

I hated that keyboard lag!! The only fix I ever found was to download thumb keyboard on the android market for honeycomb. This fixed the keyboard lag all across the board for me. I am on 3.1 on a 3G Xoom Stock. Too bad I had to pay to get a fix and if there is a fix without this keyboard then please post!

Ditto, I've used several browsers, always get lag, I love when it finally starts typing, but the first few letters are now just gone. Or when it finally starts showing characters, and the browser does a force close.
Highly recommend it! The AI predictive capability is so much better than anything else I've used. Can oftentimes type with only one or two clicks per word.
But note that the word predictions are currently disabled for the HTC email app on the ThunderBolt. This was a quick fix for the predicted words blocking the text box in landscape mode on some screens. They are now aware of the problem and actually received a ThunderBolt today to test on (they are in England). I think the fix should be very easy because the predicted words are no longer blocking the text box when typing in the Subject line of emails in landscape mode.
In the meantime, the predictive capability still works great in Gmail, TouchDown (for MS Exchange), the Comcast Xfinity app, etc.
Thanks, Robertus

Seems ok in my limited testing. I always found the prediction engine in SwiftKey to work the best, having swipe just makes it better. I was going to try the tablet version on my Nexus 7 but I guess the download site is swamped as it couldn't connect. Most likely because guys like you are posting it all over XDA...
been using it all morning so far so good
Odd... In some cases it won't let me swipe.. Like the main search on the xda app for example..

My first install was awful, it installed, but the prediction boxes on top weren't working. I uninstalled it and reinstalled and it's been working fine ever since.
Although, I think it predicts words better if you actually type the words. You can't select the word you wanted to type if it guesses the wrong word

I don't like the fact that if it got the wrong word when you swipe, you have to backspace over all of the letters. I think the stock 4.2 keyboard will delete the whole word if you backspace once. It might be an option though, I haven't looked that closely yet. Other than that, no real issues. Haven't decided if I'm going to stick with it or not, even though I bought it.

I've only used Swype as far as having something to compare it to...and it seems faster to me. I also like the prediction better than swype.
I don't type often(I mostly swipe), but when I have used it for typing it seems pretty fast....a little lag now and then.. I also do NOT miss the glitches in Swype, such as not spacing automatically in the browser and other apps...this has been good for that.
Keep in mind it's a beta, and as fast as the previous version is, I'm sure this can only get better...they've already got a great start..
So its been a week. Flow works pretty smooth for me but I did notice that the prediction needs a little work. But all in all I see a solid keyboard app worth using.

Has anyone else experienced the inability to search from within a website using flow? For example, using Chrome or Google search if I navigate to xda, rotten tomatoes, imdb or android central(those are the sites that I've tested on) I can't search from within that specific site. After I switched back to SwiftKey 3 I was able to search successfully. I haven't checked the forums over at SwiftKey yet so that will be my next step. Thanks

Google Reader sharing to Facebook doesn't allow the use of flow swiping. Hope they fix that as I'm sure there are other instances it won't work.
