Finding the way to DOWNGRADE Defy+2.3.6 ROM - Defy Android Development

Hi there!
I think I've found a way to downgrade it, but I need someone to test, since I don't want to lock my phone.
So let's go...
- Root your phone and install Defy 2ndInit 2.0, BootMenu 1.0.7 (Latest Version).
- Download the following file: http://ul.to/kalqzsn2
- Extract the folder "backtofroyo" inside your "clockworkmod/backup" folder.
- Boot into CWM and perform a full wipe.
- Then choose Advanced Restore, select the backup of the Froyo Rom you want back, and select Restore system. (You may also restore your data partition if you want)
- Now, also inside Advanced Restore, choose "backtofroyo" and restore recovery and boot too.
- Once it's done reboot your pressing VolUP so that you enter programming mode.
- Open RSDLite and flash the Fixed SBF inside the file you've downloaded, named backtofroyo.sbf.
If everything goes well you should reboot into Froyo; at least the very same idea worked for me to go back from Froyo to Eclair. Hope it helps!

I've done some corrections to the md5 file, due to problems caused by the difference between Unix/Windows end-of-line. I've restored it myself and it's working now! Let's see if you can go back to Froyo now!

if i downgrade to froyo, can i store gb rom? like 2.3.4 build 74?

Only using nandroid backups.
But someone needs to test the second try. Where is fersago now?

fail to work

Everyone has been warned about flashing a GB Full .sbf and there was a possible way, restoring by nandroid back up. The thread about 2.3.6 also warned about the new kernel and bootloader it has.. did you all tried to download a full custom rom based in 2.2 froyo ? Re-install 2nd init and try to restore the backup with out wiping and before change the name of the backup folder to any you want.

Which one?

Did someone try to go back with nandroid to GB 2.3.4 and then go to froyo?

Won't work for sure. Try my nandroid backup and fixed sbf. http://ul.to/kalqzsn2

This is really stubborn piece of sbf.. Obviously because of newer bootloader and kernel being used in this latest firmware..

It's impossible bacause the key to sign kernal has been changed.
Old kernals perform like 3rd-party custom kernal on those defy+ whose BL=6
maybe u need to find a way out to let froyo work on 2.3.6 kernals

The only way to come back I think the developers should make a ROM over 2.3.6 kernel!

Is there somewhere I can see screenshots of each?
i installed them last night, but all at once, and it hosed my MIUI making it bootloop
EDIT: Installed 88, caused my launcher to crash, force stop and bootloop the boot animation. glad I made a nandroid.
Edit: Screw me! I see that you say "Mount System" first, then flash, I'm a dork.
Edit: Nope, still boot loops after NANDROID Restore, System mount, Install of Zips
Edit: Tried one at a time, still not working, boot loops. I am using MIUI: MIUI-108050 (from Settings-System-About Phone)(think it's the current one), could that a be the reason
Edit: And I'm using TeamWIN Recovery

[Q] Stock image for SCH-i925 Verizon Model

I am trying to get back to complete stock, anyone know how I can get a Odin image? Thanks
I'm 99.9 percent sure the only published firmware for your hardware is actually the GT-N8020. I to have the sch-i925. This is the verizonized GT-N8020 sold everywhere else in the world but the US. Bad news is we are stuck until Adam Outler and team unlocks our bootloader.
Once this is acomplished and a proper recovery installed we will have the options you seek.
Good news is Adam received his I925 just a few days ago and is activly working with a team to resolve the issue.

I have a an unopened SCH-I925 if your just looking for original files that you maty have edited such as build prop or apns etc. Otherwise you should just reset device. Only files you have modified with root in the system are not restored with factory reset.

UPDATE: Soft unbrick Verizon I925
Guys here is a small update on my case.
Good News: The soft bricked I925 is once again working with certain limitations. I had mariosraptor (post credits to him) install a clean non verizon N8020 version on it.
Bad News: Despite the fact that sim card gets recognized, it does not gets activated. Another possible problem "haven't yet figured out" is GPS.
Things to clear out...
I really don't know if I had the bootloader changed while trying to recover it at the beginning. In Odin's download mode, the model refers as GT-N8010 and not as SCH-I925. Members can validate thought...

Odin Stock Image?
Were you able to use the TWRP as an odin image or convert it to one? I haven't figured out how to use this since I don't have TWRP on my tablet. Thanks!
I purchased an I925 on Swappa, and before giving it to my wife I want to revert it back to stock.
Did we ever get a stock image posted somewhere/ I didn't want to PM drozek and beg for one if it has been posted elsewhere first.

I haven't been able to find a stock image anywhere else. The one drozek has is a TWRP version, and I haven't been able to get it to work because I don't have TWRP loaded on my Note 10.1 =(
I read there's a way to convert TWRP images into odin flashable images, but haven't figured out how if it is indeed possible.

I would help to be a tester as well! And I'm not sure how much this information helps, but a dev, Adam Outlier helped make CASUAL, which was the one click root for this device. After the OTA update, it no longer works due to a libusb -12 error or something. I tried doing as much research as I could and all I could come up with (not sure how accurate it is) is that the error is due to the computer not being able to gain access to the tablet to use heimdall. We've posted debug files on his page, but he hasn't responded not posted on that page in a while. Thanks so much for your help! :fingers-crossed:

I'm not very familiar with this device personally, but in my experience with the phones I have worked with, one of two things may be true:
If you can access CWM, then you may just have gotten a bad download/md5 mismatch. Try redownloading and verifying the md5, then go through the process of re-flashing the rom/kernel as per the post for the rom you have downloaded to see if the phone boots.
Or, and I suspect this may be the problem from what I read in the General Forum for your phone, it may be soft bricked or the bootloader is not unlocked and therefore it is blocking the custom kernel from booting the phone. If you follow the steps in this post, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=35338935&postcount=2 and then start over with unlocking/rooting/flashing your phone, you should be in business again.
I try the second option... and give me error. :s

In fact I used the ORANGE TRIANGLE on the right side for informing the admin. I did not even have to make a post. Everybody have to be responsible and read the rules on posting. Otherwise xda forum becomes cluttered. If you do not like what I am doing then you can also report me. No problem for me.
