Ya,I feel that the display look sharper.. I meant the font look clearer... need more tester to test it..
Doesn't the build.prop need to be changed/updated? It shows KPH AND CRANIUM etc.. Most of us use KPQ!

thanks for the heads up, I might have flashed without looking if you didn't say anything
you can solve this without too much trouble by copying your own build.prop to your sd card, and transferring it to your computer. yes, it can be done on the phone as well in text edit, but I recommend keeping the three lines, sony.../xxxx=true/persist (abbreviated for this post), saved on your computer or something. find the original text in the original thread's first post.
after all, each time you flash a rom or whatever that may have an effect on your build.prop, it may also delete these three lines and render your mod useless until you re-add it.
so, after downloading sak's file:
1) copy your build.prop to your sd card and move that to your computer
2) edit your build.prop to include those three lines using notepad++
3) delete the build.prop from sak's zip, and paste your modded build.prop in the zip in the same place as the original
4) put the zip on your sd card and flash it!

@ sak, I'm having a hard time confirming it works. since the screen would be altered on the phone if it worked and make a comparison of before and after screenshots impossible, I tried comparing pics I took with a real camera, but there's little to no difference. the easiest comparison would be for someone who has two of these phones available to install the b_e on one and leave it off on the other and with the same exact display settings, view the same pic or exact same frame from a video...
I have one additional question: what's the difference between build.prop and build.prop~? my phone has both...
that's a nasty little bug in linux,it always creates temp file with "~"
that kph and cranium in build.prop is just a name,it doesnt even matter.........u can change it after installing
and even i didnt find any noticeable difference in the screens in the galaxy s2 thread

I did, in the color of the clouds and the details of the rocks in shadows, plus a little extra clarity in some portions. I guess it'd be easier to see in person with one active and one not active...
is there any way to uninstall or revert back to normal?
I want to test it but scare not able to revert back.

I don't know how the other two files work, but the lines added to build.prop won't harm anything. it simply enables use and if it's used, then it allows it to "persist". if you want to revert, just find where the other two files get saved to, and save a stock copy of your build.prop.
I have seen this ported to only galaxy s2 and to galaxy note...
Could this be a AMOLED specific thing???

Also, the phone(s) it was originally designed for, SE Arc etc. don't have AMOLED screens.

CRT EFFECT for Galaxy Y stock/Custom ROMs
Hi Guys,
I am trying to port CRT effect to Galaxy Y.For those how don't know what CRT effect is can view the video. This is a test version so don't expect it to work on the first time.I need some testers for the CRT effect.
Instructions
the file is flashable Zip
Backup first
Download the file
reboot to recovery
Flash the zip file
clear dalvik Cache
reboot
it will boot but will not have CRT effect you have to upload the logcat for finding the problem
then report here or on my facebook group
Video (this is not galaxy Y)

I am using the files from Repencis v3 - DXLC1 so try this on that ROM.or you can try it on stock DXLC1 ROM also.
the file is flashable Zip
CRT_Effect.zip
apply this zip through recovery
then clear dalvic cache
then boot into phone and manually copy the services.jar file to /system/framework using root explorer
then reboot to recovery and wipe dalvic cache again
then report and give logcat

mimics an imperfection of an older technology, that the new technology has already gotten rid of. it's as ludicrous as 7-segment-digit-display fonts on a hi-res display.

the main reason we are here in XDA is to develop what our android phones dont have(CRT Effect)
You may state your own opinion, there are no rules against that. But please respect the developers work.
You may say it is not worth the risk of bricking ur phone, but for others as myself CRT effect is awesome stuff.. I know its that simple effect when you turn off a cathode ray tube TV or something similar. But it adds some effect that can make ur phone unique in some point..So if you have ur own crititics about this thread. Please save it to urself, and vivek is just asking for testers, you may or may not test it.
Bootloops and bricks are what makes a true developer. Keep up the good work, buddy!
I liked the Windy Weather live wallpaper that came with the GSIII, but I didn't like the ever so noticeable watermark that is on it. I've also seen requests for versions without the watermark so, I took it out back and beat it senseless until it was gone. See the screenshots below for a preview. (I will add more screenshots later)
READ BEFORE INSTALLING
- I recommend making a back-up of the original WeatherWall.apk at /system/app BEFORE installing this.
- This only removes the AccuWeather watermark. The name of your current city will still be visible.
- This live wallpaper was pulled from a Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III. Although it should, I have not tested if this will work on other versions of the Galaxy S III. I don't think it will work on other phones (because of screen size issues), but it may!
- You must have root in order to install this.
- Install at YOUR OWN risk. While highly unlikely, I take no responsibility if this damages your phone in any way.
Installation:
Manually:
1. Download the WeatherWall.apk provided and put it on your SD card
2. Open up your favorite file manager application on your phone that has system read and write capability. I prefer Root Explorer
3. Navigate to wherever you placed the downloaded .apk and move it to "system/app" overwriting the unmodified "WeatherWall.apk"
4. Restart your phone and enjoy!
NEW! Flashable: (Easier!)
1. Download the WindyWeather-NoWM.zip provided and put it on your SD card
2. Re/boot to recovery and flash the .zip file
3. Restart your phone and enjoy!
:good:
nice!

Hmmm... Also make sure when you're overwriting the old one that it sticks. You can do this by looking at the date last modified in your file manager. If it says anything but the current date and time then it did not overwrite it. If that's the case make sure your file manager has SU and root privileges and it is mounted in read and write mode. Once I get a flash working this should be much easier, but it does nothing but fail in TWRP when I try to flash the one I have put together.
ok thanks for working on it....but see thats the prob...there wasn't one there originally. maybe the rom i am on had it removed...but either way it should show up after moving it to that folder under live wallpapers right?
The key is to make sure that WeatherWall.apk is your /system/app directory. Normally you should be overwriting an old .apk. Like you said though maybe you're rom doesn't use it so may not work. As far as I know it 100% works with Touchwiz on ICS. Someone said it did work with an AOSP based rom, but I'm not sure if this was ICS or JB.

Yeah I've had issues like that with the stock panorama as well. Maybe adjust the speed and method of rotation having your body act as a tripod. Also try the gmscore. apk in the second post for viewing the photosphere, it will open it in a nice viewer.

okay, just flashed the v4 zip from the thread in first post!
panoram viewer works now. gotta test if it stiches better now ^^
well..... No!
still stiches horrible! a 5year old child could do better!
and for the normal Panorama... do NOT shake! you're supposed to keep the camera totally calm and stable. or else you can't take a useable panorama picture!
in that case it would be way more usefull to let the user shot themselve and not autoshot!
hmm, I'm not having many issues with the photosphere stitching, it seems to work pretty nice for me. Even at night at a concert I was able to make a nice picture of the area.
It is probably a sensor issue from like an accelerometer or something, not getting the right readings of angles and what not to match everything up right. I'm sure it won't be too long before it is set right for tablet use, the different size and shape would change the math a bit I'd imagine. Maybe we can get the version from the nexus 10 and see if that works better with the note 10.1

There is still one more thing needed to get the photosphere running right, gmscore.apk and that can be found at the source but takes some time so here is a link to it in my drop box, along with the zip with the carmera for the apk, move it to your system/app reboot into recovery to fix permissionss and then after you take a photosphere pic, hit the icon at the bottom to get to the viewer, it's pretty cool.

You don't need to worry about modding that anymore with the zip on the second post. But it is the file that holds the properties of your device, kind of like a config file or something of that nature. Others can go into more detail, or you can open yours up and look at what's inside.
It is in the /system folder
It worked well on my tab, and now i have 2 camera apps and two galleries (samsung stock and google)...i'm on 4.1.1 modded official rom by dr. Akrim.

[Disclaimer: this is my first use of APKTOOL. So, this may be a bit buggy, and I'll state that up front. No bugs so far, but feedback is appreciated and will be used to tweak/fix it up.]
I noticed some other ROM had done this, but I couldn't find it. So I modified the EasyOneHand.apk to attempt to make it have a black background, to save power and save your eyes in a dark room. After all, black pixels use zero power on an OLED screen.
[As luck would have it, the chef of the X-NOTE rom responded and told me his ROM was the one that had it. Of course, I didn't see his response quickly enough and I had already gotten impatient and did it myself, so I thought I'd post it anyway. Credit to him for the inspiration for my learning...]
I have attached my mod as well as the original stock files (APK and ODEX) for replacement. I have added an Update.Zip for those who prefer to let the magic happen automatically. There is also a dark version - just be sure to rename it and overwrite the existing file to install it. The dark version intentionally has white edges so you can easily see where the screen border is.
Extract this to your /system/app folder, overwriting the existing one. Be sure to delete the corresponding ODEX file if it exists. Set the permissions to the same as the other files in the folder (chmod 644).
Let me know how it works for you!

How do I enable One Handed Mode? Look at the settings screenshots for details. You have to go to Settings -> Device -> One Handed Operation. Turn on "Use for All Screens." Then click the link at the bottom for the tutorial.
One handed mode is not working even after rebooting! Make sure you have all accesibility apps turned off.
Thank you Sir, its working great

There is a flashable update.zip there now, but I'll post a screenshot. Good point - some people are not familiar with the name "EasyOneHand.apk".

Screenshots and instructions for enabling one-handed mode added to the original post and the FAQ, respectively.
Hi there! I tried to install this mod unsuccessfully by replacing the file as instructed, then tried to replace with the original files and didn't work either. tried to flash and nothing. So right now I lost the one handed operation. I´m kind of noob so I think I´m probably doing something wrong, or perhaps is a different version depending on the phone, I have a N900W8. If anyone could help me would be very appreciated.
EDIT:::
I found the solution by desactivating "any dash" app from accesibility. I think it has something to do with this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2465085&highlight=one+hand+operation

Glad to hear that you got it all sorted out! Accessibility apps can wreak havoc with the bugs Samsung has on their Roms.

Thanks Slappy! This works great! (although the update.zip failed to work via TWRP recovery. Have to manually replacing the apk)
Suggestions
1. Change the frame of the windows to deeper color as it's still white which wastes bit battery.
2. I don't know if this is feasible. Can the One Hand Mode stay after unlocking screen?
3. Can it also work for landscape mode?
Thanks again for your great great effort!
it seems like your apk is from a rom earlier than mj6 thats why it is not working with accessibility ON...so please please update it with a newer apk from mj6 or newer

I'm working on darkening it today. I have been working through quitting my job and finding another, so have been occupied as of late... I'm going to change it from #ffffff to #222222.
As to points 2 and 3, it is not something I have looked into, but I'll do some research. I believe that it is just the way it works (in other words, TouchWiz only calls the app when it is in portrait and it does not allow it to survive a lock/unlock.)

I have added a dark version, as per your request. I was actually thinking about this for some time myself. The X-Note ROM author made an all-black version, but I found it was hard to tell where the screen edges were, so I went with a dark gray and left the edges white so you can see them better.
