When you select a word or phrase on the browser and then search, an App comes up: 'Look Up' which displays result of the search in 3 options: Wikipedia, Translate, Google Dictionary.
Is there a way to include Google web search as one of the options here? Or can the apk be modified to do this?
No one has answer or solution? There has to be someone smart out there.
Is it just me or does the search only ever search apps and the web? I've added a bunch of other stuff, including my contacts, but unless I specifically search contacts, the "all" search setting still only searches apps and the web.
Hm?
Sent from my HTC ChaCha A810e using XDA App
Go to Settings -> Search -> Searchable items , and then thick what do you want to be searchable.
I hope this helps.

Yeah, I said I've already added a bunch of other stuff including contacts, and they are searchable if you change the search from "all" to "People," but the contacts (and messages, and mail, and essentially every HTC app) are not searchable under "all."
Does this happen for you? When you type one of your contacts in the search menu on the "all" setting, does their profile appear?
For me, it works perfectly. I don't have to change anything.
I click on SEARCH, than type "birth", and I get all calendar events for birthday.
When I start to type someone's name (and that name is same for something I searched over google), I get as result my google search, and that contact from phonebook.
on this forum (only this forum) if i highlight a word/phrase and then search in google it doesn't search for that word, it searches for sentences before and after what i selected. it's something to do with that annoying "search" icon that comes up when you select text. something about that screws up the copy/paste when using a right click to copy. if i ctrl+c then it only copies what i selected. disabling javascript on the forums stops this annoying search thing appearing as well.
is there a way to disable this or do i have to leave JS turned off on xda?
edit
apparently it's the "New XDA Feature: Contextual Search" thing. it screwy in opera. i'm assuming then that i can't disable it for my profile?

found it. woot!!!
Hi, even though I've disabled the Google search history Chrome still saves the search entries and I can't find a way to disable that in Chrome. I provided a screenshot as attachment. Any advice?
Hi
On my Android phone I am trying to delete all of my google search history.
- I've done it in chrome and deleted everything possible
- I've gone into settings, then chrome and deleted everything from there.
Then when i open chrome everything is gone as i want it.
However when i sign into my account some of my search history returns so when i start typing in the address bar, old history is shown.
To confuse matter further i've gone into my google account using a PC and viewed the 'my activity' section, when i search for the entries showing up on the phone none are shown. Also within my account i have tried deleting all search data
Does anyone know how on earth i can delete the search/browsing history properly from my account??
You've deleted your browsing history not your autofill suggestions. So if you type "Planes Trains and Automobiles" into your search bar you'll get a result, then you click on the link that takes you to facts about the movie. When you delete your search history the page with facts about the movie is gone but where you entered PT&A into the search bar remains. So if you begin to type PL... it will still have that suggestion in there as something you searched once before. You have to delete your Autofill history. Click the Chrome toolbar and select Settings>Show Advanced settings>Passwords and forms>Manage Autofill. Here you'll be able to selectively delete entries or all entries.
