Is it possible or damaging to reflash the baseband on the G2x. Its the Jul 15 baseband. I don't want to risk the possibility of bricking the phone especially since I have one from T-Mobile on the way. I would like opinions on if I reflash the baseband will it fix the invalid sim issue? I am knowledgable as to flashing the phones and ROM's ect. I have flashed BIOS's and hotswapped a few for PC's so I do know the dangers. Only I want to know if it's worth trying to fix this issue or not? Opinions please! Thanks!

Just flashing a rom will not touch the baseband. There is not a flashable baseband for the G2x. There is a process to install the complete GB with baseband, but you would need a Windows XP computer. It will not work with Windows 7. Read the following link.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1180331
Well I did the flash properly and successful and no luck on the dropped carrier or invalid sim card ? I tried the flash twice..I give up! Hopefully the replacement will work flawless without issues? I still might be in the market for a different cellphone if these issues continue with t-mobile. With that being said, I will wait till Thursday of next week for delivery of the G2x from my carrier. Thanks to all who answered my questions it true to help.

Are you using the GetRIL app? It will tell you for sure if your RIL and baseband match, and give you the option to download & flash a new RIL.
If your baseband and RIL do not match, your phone's radio will not work efficiently.
I highly recommend installing the GetRIL app. Once I flashed the proper RIL I got better battery life and not one dropped call - ever!
Yes I used GetRIL but it needed superuser permission in order to work. I thought it only worked in ROMS? I just loaded it and in the stock it says baseband doesn't match, but not sure if invalid sim error is causing it or because it's not rooted? I will post a screenshot.

Can you provide a screen capture of the About Phone screen on your phone which shows your bandbase?
If you have the July 15th baseband and your RIL is v21e, then you have a match. Don't worry.
I do have the July 15th Baseband and the V21e RIL..but still invalid sim card shows..I think (know) the phone is hosed. I have the replacement from T-Mobile due today, and is expected anytime. Tracking says out for delivery...woo hoo..! I still might play with this old one until I have to return it before 7 days.

The phone will show invalid sim if the sim cannot be registered on the network. Are you sure it is a valid sim with a current account? Also dial *#*#4636#*#*, go to Phone Information and on that screen scroll down and see what the network preference is set to. If this is set wrong it can cause the sim to not be able to log into a network.
Also, get three screenshots of that info screen (take one scroll down, take another, scroll down and take the third). Post them (obscuring IMEI if you want) so we can see what the phone is doing. This info could help figure out what is wrong.

Do what jboxer recommends, if the wrong radio band and network protocol is selected the phone won't connect. WCDMA AWS is the one.
I'm having the same issue here are my screenshots:
I had the the invaled sim card message when i updated my phone. My sim card was too old. Came from a 2008 sidekick. Lol

I'm sorry to give you the bad news, but there is currently no way to flash baseband into the G2x without using the kdz flash if you haven't tried it. This LG tool sucks and is unreliable. If you lost baseband there is no way the kdz flash will work. My advice, just call T-Mobile for the replacement if it's still under warranty. If it is they charge you 20 bucks. Another tip, get rid of the phone if you have the money. This phone sucks and my experience with it had been bad. I'll never use another LG phone again.

The GetRIL tool worked for me and many others! I now get amazing reception and better battery life.
What does this exactly do for the RIL. I used to program with CM7 nightly 218, and i changed the ril to V21E. Is that safe? (for CM7). I have the July baseband
Thanks in advance
Been having this same issue. Not sure whats up, Tried getril, flashed all versions, but still, it doesnt connect to a tower. Even bought an unlock code, pop in att and it doesnt even try to connect. Was thinking to reflash too. Already have CWM on it. So not sure how to goto the software update mode from that.. since phone boots up on the new rom etc.

To go to the default SW update screen I think it's Volume up and power.
Up and Power didnt do anything. Any other ideas? Now to get to that sw update screen, does battery have to be out or in? (I tried it without but didnt have luck either) just just wondering.
Well I reflashed the stock recovery which gets me to that sw screen, but still claims phone could not be detected. Which is stupid. Trying to flash the stock rom now, but driver install.. seems to take forever..
Sigh *Pets HTC phones* You never give me a hard time.

try reinstalling them through the pdanet website http://www.junefabrics.com/android/index.php
download the free version to your desktop and install, then follow the onscreen instructions. itll install the proper drivers for your phone. its possible that it wont recognize your phone though. also, did you try reformatting the phones storage? and you never answered, can you still boot into recovery?

wauw,your info was really useful.
maybe you should consider RE thinking the meaning of bricked.
you call an electronic a Brick when it's useless and cant do the things it supposed to do.
that it can turn on and show letters, doesn't exclude it from the definition bricked.
and my nexus S was useless until repairs. so yes it was a brick.
i might not have as many posts as you do. but that doesn't conclude on what level of knowledge i am. so dont even try to say im totally wrong.
next time.contribute. not the opposite.
and if you cant contribute, than dont even post irrelevant things at all.

In the strictest sense of the term, bricking must imply that software error has rendered the device completely unrecoverable without some hardware replacement.
We at XDA like to take our definitions very seriously. You had a softbrick
brick/softbrick.. it just doesnt matter because its all relative to the moment the thread was started. to the op, it was a brick when he started the thread. it later became known that the phone was softbricked, only after fixing it. whats important is that the op fixed his phone, everything else is just semantics and irrelevant. well, its irrelevant unless now this thread turned into a "define bricked" thread. then its relevant and to the point
(btw, sorry. i wasnt meaning to be an ass if i sounded like one. im just feeling a little rambunctious )

Once again:
Bricked = non-recoverable. <- notice the period

at-least some one that doesn't think he's Almighty and knowing.
and being an ass about it.
and what simms22 just said.
in the start of the thread.i thought it was bricked.
but we managed to get it fixed.
though USB not working(yes the USB component of the main board)
does imply bricked. cuz it did need a replacement(though i fiddled with it and got it to work.)thats why i edited my first post.
it was part bricked, part soft bricked.
No one is implying that they are all mighty and know-it-all. We're simply saying that every time someone messes up their phone and don't know how to fix it they call it "bricked". Almost every day we see a post about a bricked phone and 99 % of them turn out to be just another newbie trying to root the device or some other mistake.

It was 3600000000006, then I gave phone to some service guy with a box who fixed it, back then, there was a SIM registration issue, so he wanted to flash other fw, afterwards SIM was able to register (barely), but had trouble receiving calls, phone started to be unreachable after a while and serial number was different than on back of the phone. Then I started to tamper service mode, and bands, but it helped temporarily, after a while phone would be unreachable again, and had difficulties to register on network, or even find the right one (what was odd is that somehow managed to foud other operators network). Then I tried to flash several more modems and fw, but it didnt help, and tampered service mode a bit more, and then is started not to detect SIM, exept if pulled out, or put again back in, then phone wanted to restart, but after restart again did not recognize inserted SIM (as if not there) and mobile networks menu disapeared.

Is imei same as back of your phone after repair by service guy?It must be same not different one, however it will be fixed by some service center or boy, flashing will not fix it, you have to some professional tools to fix it which only can be available at service center or service boy, I will suggest you to take back phone that boy and ask him to fix it otherwise collect your money back as issue is not resolved,

IMEI is same as on back of the phone, but I would rather give phone to someone else, when I asked this guy a question about EFS folder, he said he doesn`t know what is it.
Unfortunately when phone came to my possesion it was stuck on boot logo, so there is no way I could know is it something he did that contributed to this issue, or was it something previous owner did.
And as for different serial number, i wrote it to a file in efs folder and now is displayed correctly, before that is was like this

Imei 35000000000006 can be either u get your phone unlocked with root method or just root it, if you unlock it than go to that boy who unlock or root it, he may have important files backup like efs, nvm, cert file , if yes than he can solve issue, however you cannot solve it yourself by now, my guess

Previous owner said that phone is unlocked, and when I got it there was allready triped Knox and TWRP on the phone, so I am guessing that he rooted the phone, possibly unlocked it and mess up IMEI.
I will rather try give phone to some other service technician, because I just don`t trust this guy know what he is doing, he maybe can do some things with his tools, but I doubt he understands what he can do with it, or have enough background knowledge (He was calling me to tell him which kernel to flash to get the phone out of the boot logo, and I figured it out after half an hour I first layed my hands on the phone, BIG THANKS XDA), don`t get me wrong, I am a noob that likes to play with new things, and explore (sometimes even screw up ), but I know when I see a bigger noob than me with some pro equipment.

issues after mm upgrade
Here's what I experienced after update...
Once you upgrade you can't flash back to stock. LG flash tool fails because it couldn't detect the model. After setting up McAfee it disables root and usb debugging. You have to go into McAfee and turn those options off. So it seems like once you go to mm you can't get back to lollipop. I'm also having proximity sensor issues also with the screen going black during a call. I guess once we can get root I'll be able to install another rom.
Hi, I got the notification and I was not in WiFi network so decided to cancel it and check it again once I got to wifi zone. But when I checked next time, I just get a message, your phone is uptodate. I tried rolling date forward to circumvent the 24 hour check, but no luck. Any ideas to get the update notification back ?
no luck updating
tried the update today, it just sends me to twrp recovery screen every time
You can't install a factory update while rooted. Come on guys you should know this.

I had the same thing happen to me so what I did to make the phone think I haven't checked for an update and avoid the 24 hour wait I did a hard reset. I want to point out that I didn't care much about all my apps being deleted and you might want to back them up. Note: I was on stock lollipop
Anyone do an adb pull and extract the modem yet? Want to flash it on Fulmics 5.0.

Not sure if there is an "anti roll back" But You cannot use flashtools once updating to Lollipop you must use LGUP.

Its KDZ. the D850 is TOT method only.
My Guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
But remember its your own risk, not sure if downgrading will brick or not yet from MM on the AT&T Model.
FWIW, if you're experiencing DND issues after the 6.0 update check settings > dnd > advanced > schedule. kept noticing on my moto360 it was switching to dnd for no reason. turns out some scheduling magically appeared. been running 6.0 without a hitch since last night. had to manually disable at&t video calling and a few other things but im happy with it thus far.

You have to do a hard reset through stock recovery. Don't do it if you are using a custom rom. If you are not experienced I recommend you wait to see if you get another update notification

It's in the 2nd post of my guide in the link I posted earlier ^^ but just remember at your own risk as I haven't seen anyone try yet. Example like the G4 after a certain point people bricked there AT&T model from downgrading. But if you do risk it and everything went smoothly let us all know!

I've got a Galaxy S5 that I purchased from someone earlier today and it worked well until I did some type of software update, it went well but then restarted and it's been messed up since. Now, whenever I boot up the phone it boots fine all the way too the Sprint Spark screen and it just hangs, and hangs and then restarts again, and goes through the same process. I've tried reflashing the device using Odin but I keep getting an error "SW REV CHECK FAIL" with some other stuff. I've tired to do so much, I tried resetting the device and the cache using the options. Please, can someone offer me some help. It's a 900P and it's a Sprint device. I just got back from a funeral a little bit ago so I'd love to get this thing working finally, I've been working on it all night.
Can you check the model number under the battery?
I think Sm-g900m is the South America version, and Sm-g900p should be the North America sprint version.

Ok, good The "SW REV CHECK FAIL" is probably caused by secure bootloader which won't allow downgrade.
Have you tried to flash the latest firmware?

It goes fine all the way till the system.img.ext4 part and it just sits there. I tried letting it sit last night for 4+ hours on a different firmware and it just sat there. Any thoughts?
EDIT: So, I reflashed it, it was successful but my device still hangs at the Sprint screen..

Hmm, I have no idea why it won't boot properly. This "stuck on bootlogo" seems to be a common problem on todays samsung models.
Have you tried factory reset in recovery after flash?
Only other thing I can think of is if some other partition got messed up during the software update.
Maybe can be fixed with a 4-file "repair firmware" with BL/AP/CP/CSC-parts. I'll see if I can find one.

Sorry, I don't. Maybe it's better if you ask for more help in S5 forum on how to go on with this, as I don't own this device myself. I will probably find that thread if you do, and be able to help futher if needed
Otherwise there's plenty of tutorials on how to flash 4-files with odin.
I did find one and uploaded it to mega in case you want to grab it. G900PVPS3CQB3_CSC_SPT_CL10090296_QB12576102_REV00_user_low_ship_MULTI_CERT.tar.zip
I've used those kind of firmwares on various devices for all kind of problems where official firmware wasn't enough to fix it, and it always worked without problems.

First make sure your battery is well charged (we don't want it to die during flash)
Just put the files in their boxes in odin, connect your phone in download mode and flash.
Hopefully it will now boot past that bootlogo. If not...there must be some hardware problem.

It just sits there? No errors? Maybe you should try a different version of odin, like Odin 3.09
You could also try another usb port and/or different cable. Those are the most common problems when flash won't start.

Yeah you can do that too. Another thing you've reminded me of now when talking about smart switch...Go to your task manager on pc and make sure that no smart switch or kies is running in background before open odin. It may interfere with odin connection.
I remember it was a common problem with kies/odin.

I'm getting a problem where everytime I try to call someone or I receive a call, my SIM cards become undetected, the phone crashes after a short time and then doesn't detect SIM cards again, and Samsung or Google backups stop working, and all Samsung account related apps refuse to work. Only fixable after multiple factory resets.
After some investigation, I found that the Baseband and IMEI of the phone seem to be "unknown" whenever this occurs.
Is there a reason to this, or even a fix?

same with my A125F variant, try to reset your device and it will fix the problem
and don't update your device with the build number of A125FXXU1BUG6, i think there's is a bug with that update..
You were completely right! It WAS the new update. I flashed the previous firmware and my SIMs work perfectly now! I've turned off auto-update in the normal area and developer settings too, hopefully can avoid it till it's fixed sometime. Thanks again!
I found a way how to fix it... try to flash the A125FXXU1BUG6 firmware version together with the pit file and it will fixed the problem
Hi all,
That sounds exactly like the problem I have

When I ROOT, I unblock BOOTLOADER, the connection to the network is blocked: / Bootloader unlocked = connection blocking

I was using Frija to get the latest (bugged?!) version - I was unable to find the previous one
Baseband A125FXXU1BUE1 / Build A125FXXU1BUE3 (XSA)
Could anyone please describe where to get an older version / the pit file?
Thanks a lot for that!
is your device is A125F?

i have an app that can download latest firmware for Samsung
or just try this website https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&sou...0QFnoECEIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw0neIA-O_nYmWom070upF4v
Just as a note for everyone who has the same problem -
I could fix this without the pit file, all that was required was flashing the complete (previous) firmware with Odin.
So not just the AP file but all the other ones as well (AP, BL, CP, CSC). Maybe a modem issue?
Hey guys, i tried everything, but have not been able to fix it.
I have the SM-A125W
and I tried flashing:
Samfw.com_SM-A125W_RWC_A125WVLU2AUFA_fac
Samfw.com_SM-A125W_RWC_A125WVLU2AUG5_fac
Samfw.com_SM-A125W_XAC_A125WVLU2AUFA_fac
Samfw.com_SM-A125W_XAC_A125WVLU2AUG5_fac
and used the pit file:
from: https://www.full-repair-firmware.com/p/galaxy-a12.html
and also, checked repartition option in odin,
When i make a phone call, and hang up, the sim card and phone number shows UNKNOWN
and when i perform a factory reset, it comes back and then goes again when i make a phone call.
Are we able to use the SP flash tool on this phone?
What seems to be the problem here?
I had this problem as well after updating firmware to A125FXXU1BUG6. I could not find a way to repair the IMEI until I found this file.
All I did was flash the tar file using odin in CP. I didn't need to flash other firmware packages or anything else.
Voilà!! Enjoy!

If you're not sure it a software fail, "Unknown" Baseband probably cause by faulty MT6177mv chip on mainboard. Usually damage by warter or falling, and it just need to reflow or replace a new one.both imei will re-apear when the baseband chip working.
