Video streaming made easy - Kindle Fire Themes and Apps

So i was a big fan of Air Video on the ipad, thought I would look for something similar for android.
Came across an app called Emit. Works awesome. Flawless transcoding from your PC to the Fire. Highly recommended if you want to watch your movie collection on the fire with out having to run it all through handbrake for the right codec.
Quick setup and it just works.

gonna give it a try thank u

http://www.skifta.com/ offers something similar, for free.

I hate using transcoding, it jacks up the temps of my MacMini server 20 to 50 degrees! So I started converting all my videos to mp4s using ffmpeg and some Ruby scripts I wrote. Works a lot better and I can fast forward and backwards without any lag.

I've been using UPnPlay to connect to PS3 Media Server on my Mac (it's cross platform) and then MX Player to view the videos. Works perfect. No transcoding icky stuff on the mac side. It's been playing MP4, AVI, MKV stuff just fine. Although some containers\codecs with 720p video don't play smoothly on the fire.

I have a bunch of videos that I have converted to mp4 with Handbrake for playing on my Roku via Roksbox. This requires an Apache server so I can play the same videos though my wifi network on my Fire and Thunderbolt as well as 4G on my Tbolt. Not to mention any computer through Chrome. Everytime I buy a DVD I just rip it any put it away, rarely ever use the dvd player.

I second emit, it uses very little of my Pc resources while giving me very crisp video... match it with my wifi ap on my phone, instant hidef movies anywhere I go, on any android device

[Q] Video streaming from PC to Inspire

On iDevices there is an App called Air Video Server which is a neat s/w to stream videos from PC to iDevice over Wifi/3G
So is there any simple way to stream videos(any video format like mkv, avi, .mov ) from PC to Inspire atleast on Wifi?
"any video format" is tough but using playon and vlc works for me. Also gets you the ability to stream hulu, netflix, etc.

Any video format meaning mkv, avi , .mov
Do you install playon on phone and vlc on PC? Is there a step by step guide?
Playon is installed on the PC and phone, vlc on computer. Go to playon site for instructions. The software is not free but they have a trial period to make sure it will do what you want. They say that using vlc to stream within playon is beta but I haven't had any issues with it. Works great for streaming to a roku box and wifi blue ray player as well.

Video playback choppy

I just transferred the new tron movie onto my wifi zoom but when I go to play it, it skips through the whole movie like 20 to 30 secs at a time. Its mp4 format and I tried playing it in mobo player and the stock player but there's no change. The file plays seamless on my PC until its transferred. Anyone know how to fix this?

I'm interested to know this too. I'm having the same problem.
Your video file is probably not optimized for playback on the Xoom, meaning the encoding/compression might employ features which the Xoom doesn't handle well. see the following FAQ from Motorola:
Motorola XOOM - Optimal video settings
You can transcode your video file in software like Handbrake (free, but technical) or DVD Catalyst (inexpensive, easy-to-use) to play better on your device.
Ok ill give that a try and see how it goes. Hopefully it will workout. Thanks for the help

[Q] Best video player for xoom?

I just wonder what is the best player.
The Movie that comes with xoom cannot play several files that Archos101 can.
try vplayer
I like mobo player. Pretty nice imo.

+1 , its very good imo
i use mobo and rock player
MoboPlayer, hands down
MoboPlayer and RockPlayer basically can deal with almost all types.
Moboplayer for hardware decoding, Rockplayer for software decoding and to see if files will play over network shares (it fails more gracefully)
I use Rockplayer...best i have found so far
What format do you guys rip your Vids in, I ripped a DVD down to MP4 today, the stock player just played it at warp speed and Rock player played the Video at normal speed but the sound very slowly and out of sync..
different strokes for different folks. i like bulit-in player on xoom. i think it is the best player for me. but sometimes it can't play some videos. maybe formats limited. i will convert them.
for movie lovers, a converting tool and a player is needed.

I use this one as well.
I'm doing the same thing with Fringe . I have some episodes that were recorded in HD (each episode was around 350-400MB) and they looked beautiful on the Xoom. I was also able to play MKV files using Rock Player, but it was pretty laggy. I think that may have to do with them being close to 2gb files though.
vplayer also seems to work well
and also I am now using Plex to stream them from the laptop (acting as a media server) to the xoom without having the files on the xoom
Hi all,
Interesting reading as for some reason RockPlayer wouldn't work on my Xoom much to my horror but i am now using VPlayer instead and so far it hasn't let me down or diaspointed me with its performance. Using Opera Mobile i am actually downloading my new US Tv shows straight to my Xoom and then either watching them on it or using the micro HDMI to HDMI to output it to my monitor that is also hooked up to my JBL speakers and powered subwoofer and the results are nothing short of stunning IMO. I have only had my Xoom for a little over a week and am really happy with my purchase but of course looking forward to the upgrades it will get.

Vplayer and Moboplayer both work great

Glad it's working out for you - i only had issues with mkv's with vplayer that were juttering and stuff but was advised to try Plex streaming them afterwards as they may work
Out of interest - any good US TV shows we should be watching out for? I'm finding most shows I was interested in are being cancelled and have nothing to replace them...
What kind of shows do you like? I watch mostly TNT, USA Network, FX (mostly cool crime/spy dramas), Science, History and History International Channels.

i think if u have xoom, u can transfer your avi files to it for tring. from user manual of xoom, we know xoom supports H.264, H.263, MPEG-4, MP3, AAC, ACC+ Enhanced, OGG, MIDI, AMR NB, AAC+.
it can't support avi file. u can download a player or use a converter to convert avi files to xoom compatible formats. good luck!

xoom don't support avi format. some player can play avi videos such as qqplayer. another way you can use a video converter to convert avi to xoom playable formats such as H.264(mp4), H.263, MPEG-4, etc.

[Q] dLNA MKV Streaming/xferring files over WiFi

Hi all, so here is my situation:
I have a new Xyboard 8.2, and with the MX Video Player I can play 720p MKVs perfectly fine, as long as they are stored on the tablet itself. However, if I want to play the 720p MKV by streaming it off of my computer, therein lies a few problems. I am using TVMobili as the dLNA server on my computer, and I've not had any problems with it for other dLNA devices, such as a WDTV Live. However no matter which dLNA browser I try to browse/use to play, I can see my files, but when I try to play I either get a cannot play message or audio but no video. Does any one have any suggestions such that I can stream via dLNA (or some other means) and play these 720p MKVs with audio and video?
Plex media server with the plex app for android works like a charm on my Xoom.

Thanks for the tip, will check it out. I actually ended up ditching the dLNA route and going with the MotoCAST server/app that motorola was touting for this device, and it works quite well actually. I am not sure (actually, I think it does) if it employs dLNA technologies, but it is quite seamless. May try the PLEX route to see if the video/audio quality is any better.
For plex there is actually an option to change the streaming quality.

Plex works well, but bsplayer with native lan support baked into it works better locally.

For a tablet side fix rather than server, try using ES File Explorer to browse to the SMB fileshare on your PC rather than DLNA. You'll then be able to stream straight from the PC.
