Hi I don't have a router/a wireless card for my desktop, and I was wondering if there is a program for internet sharing via USB? Something like PdaNet(tried it on my G3 but it doesn't work)...

I found this, but you have to use Linux.
Sorry for the trouble with the link, but it does not allow me to post one.
What you are referring to is called "Reverse USB Tethering". It is a function available by default in HTC phones (Internet Pass Through) but sadly we do not have this function natively built in. I made a thread on this topic long time back, search for it.
It all depends on what OS you are using on your PC and whether or not you have a static LAN connection. Theoretically it can be implemented for Windows but it is quite tricky and requires DHCP enabling. Unfortunately i have a static connection and i couldnt do it so i use a wi-fi dongle.

Is there a way to use the ppc as an wifi adapter for a PC?
Basically I want to share internet through USB connection, which is easy when using cellular network, but not if I want the PPC to have internet access via WIFI.
I have a regular wireless router, but my PC doesn't have a wireless wifi adapter, so I want to use the PPC as the adapter. Is it possible?
Thanks a lot..

ICS Control (and probably the latets version(s) of WMWifiRouter) are supposed to support Wi-Fi routing to USB - see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=407563

I've read your bible before posting, but couldn't find nothing regrading the question....
Anyway, thanks a lot, ICS control did the job..
I wonder if there's any app/program that can make me use my HD2 as a internet source through WLAN? I've already searched the forum for this kind of question without sucess, so now I wonder if this option are availible in the HD2 or if someone could make a app for that.
And if it is availible as a option in the HD2, I'd really need some instructions.

theres a program called wifi router in the phone. where you can connect your laptop or pc too and use your data connection to access the internet.

Yes. I know that =) But with WiFi router I can't use WLAN as a internet source right?
So what do you want?
HSDPA --> HD2 --> wifi --> laptop?
Wifi --> HD2 --> wifi/usb --> laptop?
I think it's the latter.
You can connect your HD2 to an access point. However, then it is in infrastructure mode. It only has one radio with no virtual radio option. You cannot connect to a WLAN network AND simultaneously broadcast your own ad-hoc one.
However, you can connect the device to a WLAN network and connect it via usb to a laptop and then when it connects select 'internet modem' out of active sync and disk drive on the menu that appears on the phone.
Then disable the phone in commanager to force it to use wifi.
His question isn't clear at all, but I presume it's rather Wifi->HD2->laptop via USB, i.e make a USB Wifi dongle. In that case, WMWifirouter can do it.

as soon as he plugs in the HD2 via usb it will offer the 'use phone as gateway' option. no need to dialup I think. i havent tested it tho.
your laptop has no Wife function ?
perhaps he has another need for a second wifi card...yes, you techies know why you would need more than one wifi device or mac address...tehee, yes you do
Enchanter has a point though - why not get a usb dongle or pcmcia stick?
Better performance, less heat/strain on phone.

Look for Wifi Remote Access. Turns HD2 into something like a web server. You can browse and upload files to it from any other computer.
Okay thank you, and yes i mean Wifi --> HD2 --> wifi/usb --> laptop/PC.
Need it because of my wifi card is broken, and sometimes it is really usefull to have something like this.
And thank you all =) Will try what you recommended.

Even I'm also waiting for some solutions. I searched over website but i couldn't able to find anything.
Do you want to share your computer internet to phone?
Yeh like the E71.
So you use your home internet and tether it to your phone, via blue tooth, or usb.
You can search around the web for tether programs for your laptop or wifi enabled desktop. I tried it out once but couldn't really get it to work.
If youre running on windows 7 then you can download a program called connectify... its gonna transmit wifi through the laptops internal wifi card... but for that to work you have to have the actual internet accessing from an ethernet cable on the laptop
At work, there's no Wi-Fi and no T-Mobile signal.
Is there a way to use my PC's network connection to provide data to my phone? I have a rooted Android phone.
I´m also looking for this.
It is the same thing we can do with ActiveSync in Windows Mobile: you get internet access trough your PC...
I hope someone can help us with any clue.
Thank you.

Like USB tethering? I thought there was a USB tethering app on the market.
Sent via Tapatalk on CM7.0.0-Vision Stable.
Hi both of you!
It's called ad hoc network, if you have Vista or Windows 7, do like this:
Control Panel -> Network and Sharing Center -> Set up a new connection or network -> Set up a wireless ad hoc (computer to computer network) -> Follow instructions!
Good luck
You forgot to mention the tiny problem that Android has do damn Ad-Hoc support....
honestly just try starting your own network go grab a wifi dongle thats capable and go from there that or get a wireless router and try that sharing the internet connection to the router OR bluetooth connection if your phone is capable ! many different ways ive tried them all but usb tethering ive never heard of out side of wm os
It is possible...
I wrote about this before. It is possible to do via usb cable if you use Sense as it is a standard feature in Sense connection... Just plug in and you can choose to use PC internet connection.
I have done it a lot with my PC

My custom rom (x10 mini pro) support ad hoc as far as i know.
Connectify
If you are using Windows7, you might want to take a look at Connectify. Just google "connectify for windows". I can't post outside links yet.
Direct from their website:
Take any Internet connection and share it wirelessly with no additional hardware, wires, plugs, or chargers
Easily connect any number of Wi-Fi enabled devices to your network including desktop computers, laptops, phones, gaming systems, and more
Don't break the bank paying for multiple Wi-Fi connections on the road, Connectify is ad-supported and free to download and use.

Adhoc can be made to work
Check this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=755254
Of course this would need a wifi dongle in your work PC, will admins allow that?
in the newer roms with gingerbread it's an option to do this when you plug in your phone.

Where is this option? Can you describe how to access it or link a thread with instructions?
I came from HTC HD2 with Android where I had in the very usefull function Internet Pass-Throught.
With Internet Pass-Through I can share the internet connection of my pc with my phone through usb cable so I have not to use wifi when I have to download a lot of Megabyte.
Is it possible to do something like this with the Galaxy R or with same apps?
But wifi is free, why do you need a PC?

This is a standard function built into our android. You need no app.
Go to settings... networks... tethering... and there select if you want the R to route to usb or wifi.

Because when I have to download a lot of data (maps or tegra game) wifi need a lot of time than direct connection with pc.

Then turn your pc into a wifi access point.
If you have linux, try this : http://blog.mycila.com/2010/06/reverse-usb-tethering-with-android-22.html
You can try the following for windows, but not sure it works!!
For reverse tethering/pass through, you have to connect your phone using USB and go to network devices and bridge these connections : NIC with you phone.
I use Connectify and a cheap USB wifi dongle to share the Internet connection from PC to phone. Good wifi connection speed is 3-5 megabytes per second. So it's less than 3 minutes to download half of a gig (the size of heaviest Tegra games). I wouldn't call this slow.

How do you do that? My phone is not visible as a network adapter when connected. Should I try USB tethering and doing it?
I always used to use this feature on my Windows mobile through Microsoft proprietary ActiveSync software. I certainly miss that feature on Android devices.
Hopefully we get it on ICS!
