[Q] Revolver ROM feature request - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I'm using the latest Revolver ROM with a netformer 1.6 kernel (running @1504 MHz rock stable) and I appreciate this and its added features through the revolver app.
I still would like a feature that would *really* improve the tablet comfort (at least for fullscreen gaming) :
- Instead of having the "statusbar quick setting" option adding another dedicated menu allowing to hide/show the statusbar and to close this dedicated menu window, I wish to have directly in the "power menu" the ability to show/hide the statusbar menu (avoiding to open another menu window, to click on the right entry then to hide it...)
- Adding a "back" feature button in the power menu (since this will be the most used and missing one when you're hiding the statusbar).
=> That would allow the user to quit any app (game) and to get back to the "desktop" and use any shortcut he like to launch another game without having to : 1) show the statusbar again, 2) exit the app (with the back button), 3) launch the new game, 4) hide the statusbar again...
PS : I also have a Nook Color running latest CM nightly and they've added in the "power menu" those buttons, plus (but I think that must be genuine on this tablet since it includes a physical button allowing the statusbar to be back when pressed on) a direct statusbar icon to hide the statusbar. I don't know if that would be possible to get on this ROM but I really think that would rock, even more that the direct "hide/show statusbar" in the 'power menu'.
Sorry to post this here (I don't have the ten required posts to be able to post my request directly to the Revolver ROM thread) and for the bad english btw.
Great ROM anyway !
Cheers from France !

Id like more sound options . And I cant find the app for screen sesensitivity

No worries about the memory.

button savior
Well you could install button savior if u have root access. Or I could put "menu-open" into the list of applications. Do you have some proposal, how to solve this?
I'm not sure why it doesn't appear. I don't have this problem with other apps. Perhaps it's being rendered off the screen?

future without menu button
i have gathered more info about this and it looks that I will provide you with alternate solution, because it is suggested that developer should not use menu button any more for 3+.
Options are:
.menu button between other widgets
.menu button in all lists as item - searchable
I'm happy to try test versions if it would help.

just perfect for me.. thank you! i use this as my default launcher on my phone. i tend to use only minimalist apps. and white text on black background is optimum!
i now also have a nook simple touch ereader. and eink prefers black text on white background. could you add reverse colour, as an option perhaps?

[APP][ICS & JB]WidgetShade FREE v1.80

I present here a new app. WidgetShade Free!
★With WidgetShade you can have your widgets always on hand. Just use the "+" button , or long press any empty space to add a widget. WidgetShade can be called at any moment and will show as an overlay over your active application.
To call WidgetShade you have three options.
-Tap the app icon.
-Tap the notification in the notification bar (can be disabled)
-Use the trigger area (can be disabled)
The trigger area is a white and blue zone that by default appears at the bottom right of your screen, but it can be configured. Tap it or slide your finger over it to activate WidgetShade. In the application settings, you can change the position and size of the trigger area, its visibility, or completely disable it.
IMPORTANT
To avoid android from closing WidgetShade when it runs out of memory, you have two options.
-Enable "Show notification" in the options ; or
-Go to Android Settings, then to Accessibility and enable WidgetShade
Enabling the accessibility service will prevent WidgetShade from being closed. It will not access any personal information, even if the standard android warning says that it may do that.
Widgets shown in the screenshots: Digical, Elixir2, Eye in the sky, retroClock, Gmail, and Top Contacts. These are independent applications, downloadable from the Play Store and I am not related to them in any way.
I will publish this on the Play Store this week, but I wanted to offer it here first. The PRO version will have extra features (extra pages, button bar can be hidden and configurable background opacity).
Please send feedback!
Get it on the Play Store!

Another practical and useful app from you! I don't have a widget I always need to be able to activate, but I think the idea is really good. It's easy to configure and set up to work properly. So a good job from you, even though I don't personally have a need for an app like this.
Multi-tasking via widgets = awesome.
I added a update that should fix tablet layout. It changes nothing on phones, so you don't really need to update if you are using a phone.
Thank you for testing it!
Cooooolll...!

v1.20
Tablet FC should be fixed now. Sorry for all the updates, I don't have the devices to test the program. I depend on user feedback.
I received report of text showing as squares in widgets. How many of you have this problem? Which device do you have? Which android version?
Thank you all!
New version 1.3b
Hi!
I completely rebased the program, so now the grid looks nicer (The number of rows and columns). It is now a 5x5 grid, because for some phones you were getting weird grid values like 4x2 or 4x3.
I hope you like it
Great app. Reminds me of that Mac OSX feature that does this same thing. Will definitely buy (once I get money). Cool.

Really like where this app is heading. Reminds me alot of Intelliscreenx when I was using the iphone. waiting for a revision or 2 before getting the pro app to support. A suggestion maybe? How about an option for setting a trigger for when the notification shade is down, swiping left and right would activate the widget shade?

It is a good idea, but unfortunately I can't do that. The notification shade always stays on top of everything. This means that I can't capture events when it is down. However, you can enable the notification, which activates WidgetShade when tapped.
If you have more suggestions, let me know. I really appreciate feedback, and I try to implement all the suggestions I receive.
Fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

Bought the pro to support. Is it possible to implement a slide to trigger option? the tap to trigger can sometimes be abit disruptive (if the trigger area is too big) or hard to use if we make the trigger area smaller.

I'll try to do this. This was the original intention, but I assumed that tap was okay.
You are right, sometimes I also tap the trigger area by mistake.
Thanks for your support. I hope you enjoy the added features of the pro version.
@Dapaua:
Good app. I just gave it a try, and decided to log in only to reply to you!
Here are the list of my drawbacks (mainly in UI).
1- The trigger button you need to do something with it!
I would be happy if it's possible to trigger it with long pressing (I think this is easy to implement).
2- The virtual buttons are annoying (I already got capacitive buttons to start with), and it really takes some space.
Back button on capacitive could replicate the same functionality of the virtual one, also long pressing works fine (no need for "+"). The only thing is remaining a way to enter the settings menu).
Basically, I am trying to say give us an option to remove the floating buttons on the screen.
3- A slider to better control the high/length of trigger button & transparency.
Basically, focus more on the UI aspect and you will be good on selling this app.
Good luck.

Thanks for the suggestions.
1.What exactly is wrong with the trigger button? I am now implementing an option to only respond to swipes, and not to taps. This avoids the accidental triggering. It should be ready in a few hours (It's done, needs testing). If the problem is that it is ugly, it can be made transparent. If it is something else, tell me. I like getting feedback.
2.I agree that removing the button bar is a good idea, but I think this would be a PRO version thing. I already have an idea of how to change settings without the button bar.
3. This is a good idea, but first I want to concentrate in the core functionality. But I will implement it eventually.
I am just starting with this, I hope that in the end it will be a good program.

Official mimi-FAQ (TOO OUTDATED):
Q: How to use "Ultimate Dynamic NavBar"?
A: Switch the switch to "on", then you can trigger UDN's panel by swiping up near the trigger(grey triangle) at bottom-left screen corner of your phone(or tablet).
Q: Only button that works is "Recents" Why?
A: Looks that you don't have Root permissions on your device. Google for more info...
Q: Activated "hide real navbar" option, but nothing happened! What I did wrong?
A: That means that app can't obtain root permissions, or your device don't have busybox installed.
Q: App can't restore original navbar.
A: Rare bug You can manually restore navbar by removing all "qemu.hw.mainkeys=1" lines from /system/build.prop . Mail me if you need help.
Q: UDN overlaps information on the screen!!!1 How Do I fix it?
A: That's correct behavior! It is impossible to act another way! And No, I cant overlay nothing in the zone of real navbar Don't ask!!
Q: Android 4.3, can't hide notification. Is it possible to fix?
A: No, since google fixed bug I used to hide notification. There's no way to hide notification anymore
Q: OK, I found bug! What should I do???
A: post it to issues list I'll be happy to fix it!

Sorry, will fix it now. Use dropbox link for now: https://www.dropbox.com/s/5oalbgb7plr830z/com.mrbimc.udn.apk
It wont let me select to "hide real nav bar''. So all it really does for me is add a second, auto hiding nav bar on top of my existing nav bar.

A shortcut to show and hide the navbar will be helpful ... to use it with gmd gesture control to combine the best parts of both apps ...

Ok, will add toggle shortcut in the next update. (actually, it is going to be "show" shortcut, because hidding is hardcoded for now. and i'm not going to change it's behavior in nearest future )
Will watch this apps progress. Thanks dev.keep up.

Very well sir
Simple and easy as that. I like it.
I have one suggestion. If I set, in your app, "Activated state time" in 2000ms i would very like that navigation stay on for this 2 seconds but after last tap. Reason is using BACK button for several time. If I leaving Gallery app a don't like pres home button, I usualy press back button for 3-4 times. With your setting I have to swipe every time when i want to press button.
"Just this" for and from me
Good luck !

I second this. Thanks to MrBIMC for your great work but instead of automaticly dispearing after some seconds, can you put a button (directly in the nav bar) for hiding the nav bar, the gesture seems very OK in most apps.
Thank you

Can anyone mockup how shoud this button look? because right now i can only add it as normal button, but it is not aestetic.
Or i could edit XMLs a bit and add support for small edge buttons (like legacy menu button of shame), so it will be possible to set hide trigger there.
What do you think?
Updated the app, check the head post for details and apk!

Thank you for the new version. I have only tested it for a short while yet, but I can see a lot of improvements. Some feedback:
You are right, the button looks quite out of place. And I think the best position should be in the middle. I will try to make some better graphics and send then to you.
The small graphics seem to work well so far, and on a phone with small screen, I think this is ideal for the menu button.
I am glad you are not killing SystemUI to get rid of the navigation bar, as the best option is to edit build.prop
Not too sure the option to stay on screen is behaving as it should. First, if no button is pressed, the bar should disappear after the normal timeout. Then, only if the back button is pressed, it should stay on screen. In that case, it should reset the timer on every press, no just the first one.
I hope that helps.
Awesome app, no need to edit any system files or push anything to /system, but still quite buggy, if the nav bar does not hide, it blocks the thing behind, any way to shift everything up, or not hide the thing below? See screenshot attached.

Even if it was possible, it would not work at all as a user interface. Three possible options:
* shift everything up: the top of the screen would disappear instead, and the sudden shift in position would be very annoying.
* squash the screen to fit in smaller space: that would look awful, and would also be annoying.
* leave everything as is, and overlay the bar on the bottom part of the screen. This is the current situation. The fact the the screen does not change, makes it much smoother for the user. To counteract the fact the bottom of the screen is then hidden, maybe transparency would help?

Yes sir, it should be best if you put one edge button for hiding. About the design I think you should focus on the idea first, after things get better and the app runs well then you can change your focus to the overall design. Yep the current design is not very aesthetic yet but it can wait .
The new version looks very promising but when I choose more than 3 big buttons then the toggle hide button dissappear
Anyway, thank you very much, your idea about this bar is very good and much better then lmt launcher or gmd gesture which are difficult to use for normal users.

[APP][2.3+] Bubble Launcher with PA 3.56+ HALO support

Bubble Launcher 2.6.1 launched here on XDA(free version) and also in play store (payed full version)!
FULL support for PA 3.56+ HALO - apps can be launched in downsized MULTI_WINDOW
Please remind, that Bubble Launcher XDA 2.5+ is a time limited Version (with all functionality of Full Version!) since today!
-The testing time period is 10 days after installation.
If you consider to use the prior version 2.3.1 (WITHOUT TIME LIMIT), I' let let stay a download link in OP for that all the time...
(but in that case you don't get new features from now on...)
Bubble Launcher is an 'always on top' side launcher for Android OS. It can be used on top of every opened app.
The starter halo hotspot is made as floating system window, so it can be on top of everything on screen!
It was made for JB 4.2.2 / 4.3 , but should work on OS versions since 2.3+.
The Launcher comes with a
-standard listview
and
- circle halo knob
for selecting an starting an app.
How to use:
Hotspot -> swipe left -> opens Circle Launcher;
Hotspot -> swipe up -> opens Favorites Panel;
(You have to mark some apps as Favorite in 'Blacklist & Favorites Editor' -> start 'Settings Panel' via Menu Button -> mark some apps as Fav. in most right column checkbox!)
Hotspot -> swipe down -> opens App-List-Launcher;
Short Tap on App in List -> HALO)))-start of app;
Long Tap on App in List -> Fullscreen-start of app:
circle launcher -> circle swipe to outside -> fast release -> HALO)))-start of app;
circle launcher -> circle swipe to outside -> wait a second release -> fullscreen-start of app;
circle launcher -> circle swipe inside Halo-knob -> no app will be startet;
Menu Button Opens 'Settings Panel'
Bubble Launcher supports Halo))) start of apps in MULTI_WINDOW on Paranoid Android 3.56 and above!
And of course you can start apps also in Fullscreen Mode.
On non Paranoid OS the apps will always be started in Fullscreen Mode.
In the full version of Bubble Launcher you can mark any app as blacklisted or favorite.
Blacklisted apps will never be shown in the launcher lists.
Favorite apps are listet on top of standard listview and are the only listed apps in circle launcher mode.
You can test this free XDA version, before purchasing the full version.
the XDA-app-version is full working with the following
limitations:
- blacklisting of apps not active
- Favorites not active
- Themes not active (only Holo Dark is enabled)
All other features are fully working!
No ads!
If you want to uninstall the app, than first go to settings -> security -> device administrators and un-tick the box for Bubble Launcher

HowTo use builtin 'Floating Notifications'
If your device runs Android 4.3 (and only than!), you can use the builtin 'Floating Notifications'. This may be useful, if you want to use your device in full screen mode.
To activate 'Floating Notifications' you have to download and install NLSHelper.apk (see attachments below...).
This APK will be installed as a Bubble Launcher module hidden from Appdrawer/Home Launcher.
After installing this module you have to activate the Notification Access Policy in SETTINGS/SECURITY/NOTIFICATION ACCESS by ticking the checkmark for NLSHelper!
(Bubble Launcher tries to guide you automatically to related Settings Panel after Installing NLSHELPER. If it doesn't happen, please go manually to SETTINGS/SECURITY/NOTIFICATION ACCESS for activating the policy.
If you have completed these steps, Bubble Launcher will intercept incoming notifications from gmail, sms/mms, google+, google search, whatsapp and similar apps.
(Only push notifications, no ongoing notification, will be intercepted!)
When a push notification is received an notify icon will be displayed in Bubble Launcher's Hotspot Bubble and a notifying Label will be displayed near the bubble.
If You Click on the notify icon in bubble, the notify label will be updated and displayed again.
Click onto the label for opening the notifying app.
Swipe from notify icon to down, for updating the push notification queue.
Swipe from notify icon to up, for clearing the push notifications queue.
HowTo use 'Custom Themes'
For trying out custom themes, download customThemeSample.zip (see attached files below).
Unzip this file to your root folder of your devices sdcard. After unzipping you will get two files:
1. old paper blue-16776961.blt
and
2. old paper gray-11446940.blt
(Don't touch the filenames or file name extensions of these two files! - Or the import will fail!)
if they are in the root folder of your devices sdcard, you can open Bubble Launcher's Settings Panel by its the App Icon in Home Launcher.
-Tap on 'Select Custom Theme ' in settings panel.
-Tap in the opening list on 'Import Themes'
- a Toast Message should notifying about successful import...
After that you can Tap on 'Import Themes' again and you can select one of the two freshly imported custom themes.
So you will see what you get...
That's all...
A detailed documentation for 'making your own themes' will follow later here!
HowTo 'Sort App Icons in custom Order'
Since Ver 2.0 of Bubble Launcher you can change the order of App' Icons in the Favorite Panel View.
To change sort order - open Favorite Panel by the related swipe action (i.e. swipe from Hotspot to left).
On the bottom of panel you find a Label called 'SORT ICONS'. - Tap on that - All Icons will begin wobbling...
Single Tap on an icon, that should be going to new position - the Icon's background color should change to orange color.
Now tap on an Icon at the position, where you want to get your 'marked app icon' - the order should be changed now!
If you finished sorting, tap again on 'SORT ICONS'.
The new sort order will be saved and used in Favorites Panel, Favorites List (and in Circle Launcher View, if you use full version of Bubble Launcher).
HowTo 'Use Custom Icons From Free Icon Packs'
Since Ver 2.0 of Bubble Launcher you can use free ADW-compatible icon packs to select single custom icons per app in Bubble launcher.
There are many free ADW icon packs available on Play Store or on other resources.
Support for Payed Icon Packs is not implemented atm.
The following steps should guide you for use of such icon packs.
1. Install at least one of those Free Icon Packs
2. Start Bubble Launchers Settings panel via it's Icon in Home Launcher
3. Tap on 'Edit/Sort Favorite-Icons' - a special Favorite Panel View should be opened.
4. Long Press the Icon you want to change to custom.
5. A share menu for installed Icon/Theme Packs should be opened.
6. Select the pack of your choice - If you have more than one icon pack installed - use 'only this Time' (to have the choice option later).
7. The Icon-Overview of your selected Icon Pack should be opened.
8. Tap on an Icon of your choice to select.
9. Tap the back button.
10. Your App Icon should be changed to the one of your choice.
that's all.
I'm working on the support for Payed Icon Packs for a later version of Bubble Launcher.
...
Thanks, looks cool.
I try it

Nice! Just bought the app. I've noted one minor problem though... If you launch the blacklist editor and then try to scroll it up to see more applications, it disappears and the settings window returns. This makes is practically impossible to blacklist apps that require the list to scroll to see.
Other than that, it makes a great addition to GloveBox and Gravity Screen. Looking forward to see where this project goes.
Thanks

Uhh... just to add to this... the problem only seems to occur if the Bubble hot spot is located on the left side of the screen. When on the right side of the screen I'm able to access the full blacklist listing.

Good launcher, I test it
hello i just bought the app, could get quite handy i think.
Some suggestions though.
1.Favorite only mode or maybe all other apps as an expendable tab or something like that that can be closed to make it cleaner for me people who mostly use the favorites.
2.customizable line height.I would like ti see more lines of apps at once.Sadly changing the dpi of the launcher doesn´t work as on all other apps. The circle gets cut off and the height doesn´t change at all or get too small and you see too much.
3.Could your app maybe force certain apps always to launch in floating window mode even when not lauched from bubble launcher but also from the notification bar or any other way?
4.option to disable app names.
5.improve list opening speed, maybe the in point 1 mentioned favorite only mode could help here.
6.If there would be a way to launch a favorite only mode like bubble but as a grid of icons that could be good.Faster and more convenient than the bubble i think. This way you could directly tap for launch in floating mode and long press for fullscreen mode.
ok,that´s it so far i can see. Please tell me what you think of it and what could be done maybe
also found a bug, even if made visible i can´t see the bubble on the left side on my Nexus 7,one my One x see it on both sides though.
Also icons on the Nexus 7 overlap with the app name text as can be seen in the screenshot
Launcher is very good
Im Not able to uninstall it..

This is an amazing app whose concept can revolutionize the android experience. With KK I used to download Xposed and install XHaloFloatingWindow and Floating notifications just to mimic a PC desktop. Now I can do something similar with this app and Nougat! Thanks, OP!
It would be great if the Taskbar overlay can support the Extended Desktop feature. I use an unofficial build of LineageOS, and when you open an app in a freeform window, the nav bar appears and it doesn't hide. And when you close all windows, the overlay and the nav bar stay, making it impossible to use, for example, gestures in your home screen. I use Nova Launcher, and in order to open the app drawer, I use a double tap gesture. So I have to go to the Taskbar settings, disable it, and then I can access my app drawer as usual. Is it possible for the overlay to automatically close when there are no freeform windows opened?
Also, is there a way to implement a shortcut to toggle off the taskbar without opening the app? Like greenify hibernation, that can be even set with a gesture in nova.
If the overlay and nav bar issues can be fixed, and we can somehow enable a shortcut use the taskbar whenever we want, this is going to be my favorite app from now on ?
Thanks again, OP. I hope this feedback helps!

Thanks for your feedback!
Unfortunately, due to System UI restrictions that Google has put in place for multi-window mode, hiding the status/navigation bars is not possible while apps are running in freeform mode. What you could do, though, is disable the navigation bar entirely (through build.prop) and then use an app such as Simple Control to provide an alternate implementation of the software keys.
Taskbar staying open even after all freeform mode windows have been closed is by design. If it's not set as your default launcher, though, you can still press the home button to collapse Taskbar and exit freeform mode. (You're not the only one that has asked about this, so I might make this an option in a future version )
You can already turn off the Taskbar by either: pressing the "Quit" button in the notification, or by long-pressing the app drawer icon and selecting "Quit". I already have a "Start Taskbar" homescreen shortcut for Android 7.1+ devices - perhaps I should change this to an on/off toggle instead?

Perfect, I'll use a third-party nav bar instead, I forgot it was possible to disable the system one via build.prop.

A toggle is a great idea, and if in the future it's possible to add support so it can be set with a Nova gesture or a similar app, we won't need a dock anymore ?
Another thing I saw while checking the app was that when you move any window to one side of the screen it automatically pins like in split mode. Is there a way to avoid this? I'm not completely sure, but through the developer options it was possible to disable this. However, I cannot find it anymore.

I was using this wonderful app for awhile as my main launcher. The problem I ran into was Hangouts Dialer wouldn't launch with this app installed. Think it was some issue with drawing on top conflicting.

No it's not possible to disable that. It's built-in behavior of Android.

Hmm, interesting, I use Hangouts Dialer and haven't had any issues using it with Taskbar. I'll investigate this a bit more though.

I tested the new version and it works with Hangouts Dialer. Issue now is my power button doesn't work with Taskbar as home launcher. If I enter an app it works fine but on the homescreen it doesn't. If my phone falls asleep on homescreen, I can't turn it back on without rebooting.

The power button issue is a ROM-specific bug that has been reported on OnePlus devices, and also devices running CyanogenMod/Lineage OS. It's an issue with freeform mode itself, unfortunately, and not with Taskbar.

I am using a CM based rom. I will turn off freeform.
--Feature request--
Please add an option to disable the start button entirely so it can be used purely as a system wide dock or resents bar only.
Please add icon spacing options so we can centre icons etc when using the "fill white space" option. either manual padding or various presets. also aligning them left/centre/right would be nice also.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
Also, any thoughts to a Kitkat compatible version? We don't need free-form windows, but surely the overlay taskbar would work just fine on kitkat. I ask because Taskbar is extremely useful for tablets, yet most tablets are still running pre-lollipp android versions.

Assuming you're talking about the navigation bar icons, yes, more customization options for them is something I plan on adding.
As for compatibility with Android 4.x devices, this is something I have actually investigated adding before. There are a few issues with adding support for 4.x, though, that I would have to work around before I consider supporting those versions:
The app is pretty tightly built around APIs that were only added in 5.0, such as UsageStatsManager and LauncherApps
The app also takes advantage of the Material theme for context menus, and I have not been able to get the context menus to look correct on Android 4.x devices using AppCompat
More testing would be involved on my end if I were to support 4.x devices in addition to 5.0+

Understood. I'll keep my fingers crossed. It's the one thing I'm missing from my kitkat tablet to make it truly awesome.

Fantastic app( but for nougat only...I am talking about freeform). It needs the following two features and it will be unbeatable:
1. Option to open notifications in freeform/floating like hover or halo and
2. All the features working below nougat(at least lollipop)also. Thanks for reading.
Is it possible to trigger the taskbar with on screen navbar? Maybe with tasker and custom navbar app?
Excellent app - restored a better version of windows than were on my Lenovo Yoga Book. If I click on the maximise window button so that it fills the screen, I can't see a way to rewindow the same app?
is there any hope of getting live wallpaper support added to this app?
I would absolutely adore the ability to use this as my Launcher with KLWP.
But I don't know if that is even possible... :/
I know this thread is pretty old now, but not sure where else to put this.
With taskbar installed as a system app, it's possible to have it detect only the running apps (found this out thanks to bliss OS), however, i am unable to get a list of running apps on Android 9 MIUI 10, it just remains blank, is this a bug in the app, or an issue with MIUI (rooted with magisk, app has been manually moved into /system/app)
