Hello everyone, I considered putting this in the marketplace but it makes 100% more sense to have it here.
I'm selling my faulty nexus one for spare parts so if anyone needs a part of the phone (except the PCB that the microusb sits on)
give me a PM and we can come to some sort of arrangement, obviously undercutting ebay prices lol.
for example... lcd replacement, digitizer or camera, speaker, volume buttons etc.
I've got a weird one to ask about....
What about the bottom soft touch cover (that goes over the usb port)?
do you have the little black plastic piece that covers the bottom pcb? its got the little vibrator connected to it.
Mine is like slowing down and isnt as powerful and i think its the reason for my haptic feedback dying

Hi Magacamz! I wonder if you still have your LCD Replacement? For how much are you expecting to sell it? Would you send it using USPS International? If positive, we can arrange using Paypal or something similar...

It is literally the piece that goes over the USB port and gold power connectors on the bottom of the phone. It's the same material as the battery cover.

Hi
Was it difficult to change? I've had a look at the service manual and it doesn't look too difficult?
It's not very difficult, however if you've never taken apart a mobile you might be in over your head. It's especially weird since it is a slider.
I have already tried taking mine apart just so I could see how it all goes... Its pretty simple really... Just waiting for my housing now

Hi all. I have a problem after I change the housing, the lcd doesn't work, simply no image. others no problem. Plz help me..
Spare Parts?
Question here,
My wife's Vox died, (not reading SIM and screen keeps going black), Is it worth trying to fix or should I just part it out? Having it repaired is almost as much as a new one.
Does anyone know where I can get another one at a fairly cheap price?
If anyone is interested in parts PM me.

The flex cable isn't seated properly? Make sure it clicks in and does not come out when you slide the QWERTY out.

i've taken the phone apart 3-4 times, double and triple checking all the connections. i dont know it its the lcd or just the flex cable.
I had the same problem. But I think h4waii is right. When I redid the thing it worked. And, by the way I was told by HTC service people in Delhi that the LCD would have to be replaced for the problem.
thats not the answer i was looking for but oh well. thanks for all the replies!! anyone know where i can find a cheap lcd??
Hi guys.
Well, i break my n1 while trying to clean the display, following a unmount video found on youtube.
Well, it's not totally break, but i cut a little the flat cable that let work the touchscreen and i break the flat cable that connect the volume regulation button.
So...i have original spare parts to give, if someone need, like display, chassis, battery...and other things.
Display and phone glass is in perfect condition.
No scratch, no dead pixel ( is it correct for amoled display? ) and even zagg shield on the phone is still there ( not on screen, just on the body of the phone ).
I can send high quality pics, if somone of you need particular view of it.

Hi.
Well if you can send me an 'how to' for disassembly that part i'll do.
I'm not familiar with internal component of this phone.
Anyway, i'd like to send the entire phone first at all, so the final user will unmount the part that need.
It will be more easy for me.
Or else, just wait that i'll give other 'simple' part of the phone ( display, battery, chassis ) to people that need and after i'll can send easily the remaining part to you.
i can build a queue of the people here that need parts with priority to who will take all the phone.
This is the actual queue:
1- teihoata: display
2- bingoz : power button circuit
How much for the whole set? Does it still have the accessories from the box?
100 Euro?
Im from the Philippines
send me a PM with your price along with shipping
for me it's ok.
i have the full box with everything.
shipping cost amount at 63 euro.ì, with assurance option included ( 5,68 euro ).
you can check also by yourself at this website ( postal service ):
http://www.poste.it/online/paccocelerein/application/privati/index.html
so the total it's 163 euro.
i think it's the cheapest way.

I want the aluminum frame ((the lighter gray portion)) if you part it out.

i sell it already some days ago.

I dropped my three-week old HTC one X on driveway by accident. The screen was shattered like a spiderweb. So I ordered a HTC One X screen/digitizer replacement from Amazon.
Today I tried to follow each step described in youtube ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ceHw6mezG60). In the last step when tried to separate glass screen from LCD, the LCD was ruined.
The glass and LCD were glued very tight. In my opinion, it is almost impossible to separate them safely. There are some differences in cables and connectors between the US version and the one showed in youtube (i assume it is the international version). There is one cable in the AT&T version that is very hard to disconnect.
Just to be clear, I consider myself very handy in electronics. I hope you can learn from my lesson. Tomorrow, I am going to send the phone to HTC repair center. Since I voided the warranty by disassembling it. I have no idea how much they will charge me.
i learned my lesson on this with a friends Inspire 4G...I have changed many many iphone screens, but the Inspire was a whole different ball game, and i would expect the One X to be even worse.
You are right, pay someone to do it.

Why don't you just order the whole LCD/digitizer/glass module? And of course the things gunna be hard to separate, you need to heat it up A LOT to loosen the glue

Agreed
I learned my lesson with iphone/ipad digatizers. Of course its less than half the price for just the digi but the lcd/digi combo is definitely the way to go. If you do get it separated you have a lot of cleaning to do to get all the old glue/glass off and they are much harder to get back together than you would think. Also invest in a good set of tools. The tools are garbage that they send with the parts.

A screen is about $50, and a screen/LCD combo is at least $180. If I knew it was so hard to separate, I would probably order the combo. Another concern is, I am not really sure that the LCD/glass combo from ebay is as good as that from HTC.
Fyi I had HTC replace my cracked screen. They also replaced the housing (new case, yay) for some reason. They had it for two days plus 3 days shipping time to get it back. Total cost was $220. I'm handy in electronics but seems this is the way to go for now based on costs for the full assembly. They really had great service through the process and you can track the repair online.

Oh how I wish I saw this thread before..
So I sure did break my digitizer.. and when I tried to replace it, it sure was glued to the LCD, and it did come apart lol. On the brighter side, I got a new digitizer and tools, I ordered an LCD but they shipped the wrong one.. but I will say this, I don't think it's that hard to take apart and reassemble.. aside from everything being glued together, and from what I gather the international version is not this way. Everything seems to make sense. I am starting to get lonely without her working. Sometimes I ADB into her just to say hi, mount my storage and make sure I got everything out just in case I butterfingers it and short something out. So aside from my agreement, here are the lessons I have learned.
1) Have a hair dryer handy, that glue is like concrete.
2) Don't just tug that battery cable out, the wires will come out of a socket (took 2 hours to get em back in)
3) For those of you whose digitizers and LCD's are broke.. "adb shell /system/bin/sdutil ums enable" will mount your storage so you can backup some stuff.
4) That torx screw driver you think you might need, haven't seen a torx screw yet, just loads of glue.
5) Take pictures of stuff before you disconnect it, and how you disconnected it for reference in reassembly.
6) This is the correct part # for the LCD 60H00664-01P, except no substitutes.
7) There are little crystal gluey things on the back of the digitizer that go through the case and transfer light. Don't expect them to fully light up ever again without remembering to move them (if you can)
8) It's worth fixing, sure I pre-ordered an HTC-One, but my One X will remain my phone because I love her, she's my first HTC and by far my best android ever. My HTC-One will be for Dev purposes >
9) Resist the urge to take the heat shield off to see if you can upgrade your storage by some kind of hidden micro sd, even if there is one, I'm sure it's got 5lbs of that crappy glue AT&T insisted upon.
10) If you think you want to change your digitizer just to rid your self of the AT&T logo, It's not worth it, I'm in it for 18$ for the digitizer and $43.99 for the LCD. Sure it's worth the money, but my sanity is long gone, I will name my next dog sanity.
You guys are the best ever! Good luck! God Speed!

I think I might do this if AT&T doesn't let me take my upgrade early to the One. So you would recommend HTC to do this? Just out of curiosity, was your phone rooted/romed when you sent it in? How long ago was this done for you?

Well..
Not that if he can't do it no one can, but the threshold of glue being heated to separation vs. the heat destroying the lcd is so close.. and the parts are so cheap to get independantly of one another. In the words of the hunger games.. may the odds be forever in your favor.

Hmm..
LOL figures I would run into a problem like this, new screen stops the phone from booting, old screen fires up the phone, if i plug in the new one while its running, the new one works fine, if i restart, back to death.. i could reassemble with it still running and pray i never need to restart my phone, but that would be messed up.. any ideas?
I've never had problems with it. Even while drinking. Just apply heat, then pull. If it doesn't come that easily, then it isn't hot enough or hasn't heated evenly.
Btw the combo fpr screens and digitizer rins $50-75 on eBay

Hello
Alright, so I had my lcd digitizer combo replaced, since the glass was broken. At first the lcd didnt work because it was AOM or something like that and wasnt Sharp's model like originally, but i syncded it as follows:
1.Took out the battery
2.Connected the old screen
3.Put back your battery
4.Start your phone
5.Wait about 2min to be sure
6.Take the old screen and replace it by the new
7.Press power button
8. Should be running and working.
But now.. after assembly it does detect the sim card, but gets no signal, so i cant make calls go to internet etc.. But wlan however does work ?
is there something I broke in the progress or ..
Hoping for some help, thanks

Sure sounds like you didn't re-connect the cell antenna correctly. Those ribbon cables are a *****. Could also be the little EMI tabs that come off of the blue antenna PCB and connect to the case, I would think (just guessing, as I'm staring at my disassembled phone right now).

I need to replace the hardware keyboard in the Q. Reason is the 'b' key doesnt click much anymore, it has almost no travel when typing on it. Where can I buy a genuine replacement? Is it also difficult to replace?
Please, let me know if you can.
here you go ;
http://www.etradesupply.com/oem-motorola-photon-q-4g-lte-xt897-qwerty-keypad.html
This will not help you... Photon Q's keyboard is build in such way that there are golden circles with golden dot inside - each button has its own. Then, on those golden pads, there is a sticky film with metal caps which, when you press, they connect the dot with the circle around it. So presumably the thing that got broken on your phone is either the metal cap (it can get worn...) or it somehow moved (rather impossible). So the thing you want to buy is the sticky film (white foil) with metal caps. If thats not it, then you need the motherboard...
If I didn't explain it clearly, check the photos, for example in Cornholio GSM hardware mod thread
Thanks for the advice. Indeed, I believe that's the problem. Where to find a replacement for that one?
I've seen those replacements for XT894, which is the same. Search for that one and you will find it on Ebay.

Hi there, the keyboard sticker with metal pads would be handy spares, but do you have access to the slider ribbons? These are a wearing part - the one that joins the screen to the base.
I'd like a few of those!

Recently, I purchased a Nexus 5 from a friend. The screen was completely shattered and nothing would appear on the display, but my computer was able to recognize the device. This morning I replaced the screen with a new one, however, there is still nothing appearing on the display even though the computer recognizes it and there is still life left inside of it.
Is there anything I am missing? I rechecked that everything is plugged in correctly several times and still nothing. I was thinking of replacing the flex cable, but I am low on funds so I don't want to waste money if its not going to work.
Attached, are photo's of the device.
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, the entire assembly has been replaced which includes the LCD and digitizer.
Once again, I'm thinking its the flex cable as bad flex cables I've had with other phones have affected the functionality of the device.

The second poster simply asked me if I replaced the LCD and digitizer assembly in its entirety.

Oh sorry you said flex cable. I was on my app. My apologies. Honestly it could be the flex cable. I replaced the screen in my Droid 3 and it didn't work because the flex cable was damaged.
Based on your photos it looks like what you replaced should have bean sufficient but of course with electrical components who knows... I wouldn't rule out a dead replacement display either. I'm in the middle of a similar situation, returning my replacement display today and trying another.

So you were able to get a display after you changed the flex cable?
The odd thing though is that I'm still able to charge the phone...the flex cable also holds the usb port.
Anyway, I've ordered a new one so we'll see what happens.
If anyone was wondering the screen still does not work with the new flex cable. I'm assuming its a motherboard issue and am just going to sell it on eBay.
Before than, any other suggestions would be appreciated.

I bought it from him for a very cheap price ($30US). Even with it broken, I can still get more for it by selling it on eBay than I can by getting my money back.
Try to make preassure on the wide connector on the motherboard. If display backlights or displays temporarily it's micro distached pins between connector and motherboard. Heat Air is the easy solution! In my case I used hot air heatgun 350°C and 10sec on row near edge of the board. The solder melts and at that time PUT slight PREASSURE down to the connector for few seconds! It makes the legs got proper contact to the pads on the board. Solves problems with Mic and Loudspeaker too becouse it relay on this wide connector.
Good luck Tomáš
