[Q] Can't boot into recovery - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I returned my original transformer that I rooted and installed Revolver on because of a bad touchscreen. Now on my new one I can't get to recovery. I rooted using razorclaw again, but when I try to get into recovery I get the android with an exclamation point. Any help would be appreciated.

Did you install CWM recovery?
Razorclaw only root. RecoveryInstaller

Yeah, I found my mistake moments after I posted this. I was thinking there was a stock recovery to install CWM from. I forgot about the installer. Thanks for setting me straight. Back in business now.

Issues with Recovery

I have a Transformer B70 and I used the Pure root 8.4.4.11 method
Shown here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1185104)
and I can't seem to get into recovery after following all the steps.
it seems to hang at "Booting recovery kernel image"

I'm having the same issue too.
And what is really weird is that it was working the very first time I did it, but after trying to root the 3.2 update, I can't get it to work anymore. Nor can I get the tablet to see the 3.2 OTA... I wonder if I borked it up somehow with NVFlash. Anyone got any ideas?
Did you read the note about recovery in first post?

my guess is no.
Yeah, I completely missed that. I need to sleep more instead of hacking tablets...
I still don't understand why it worked the first time I did it manually, but after restoring to stock via NVFlash, I can't get the exact same recovery.img file to boot on the same tablet.
Is there a way to wipe the whole flash and start fresh? I had this kind of issue on the GTablet and the full wipe clean and re-install to stock fixed it. Maybe I can look at the commands to do it in the GTab and adapt it for myself.
I just installed clockworkmod recovery though a nvflash method with a rooted 8.4.4.5

I think my Gtab is dead...

I had my Gtab running stock 1.2 4349 and I screwed up while trying to install cwm v.8. I had not re-rooted my Gtab so instead of replacing the standard recovery with cwm I ended up with no recovery. After a few failed attempts to install cwm I gave up as I was worried I would wreck my Gtab. That was when I got the 5699 update around the beginning of Feb. Foolishly I tried to install it hoping it would install a recovery with the updated firmware. Now all I get when I boot it is "Booting recovery kernal image".
Is there anything I can do to save my Gtab? Thanks in advance for any help.
Go here http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/ follow instructions for code red. You will be fine.
Thank you so much for the help. My Grab is alive again and running ICS!

[Q] CWM recovery bootloop

I'm pissed that I installed CWM recovery... I wanted a factory reset, so I did it. Now everytime I turn on my TF101, I get directed to ClockworkMod Recovery v5.5.0.4. My computer doesn't recognize my transformer now, and IDK how to let CWM use my microsd. I don't know what to do... My serial number is b80, and it's ICS. Latest firmware. I rooted this device with ViperMod Prime, since it can also root TF101. Please help me? I want to get rid of CWM and unroot, so I can sell this.

CWM 5.5.0.4 only read from the internal sd.

cannot use recovery after JB

I can get into recovery but after that then to android with red exclamation or usb fastboot screen or fdr screen cold boot. Once I get to red x andy I can go no further. Tried all combo of button pushes and will not go to blue menu for clear cache partition fdr or re start. I am trying to clean cache . It just sits at Andy then after about 5 Min's tab reboots by itself. Have tried about 6 times same thing happens each time, Any idea what is happening or what I am doing wrong or is recovery clean cache partition gone? Thanks
Other wise JB install went smooth no problems and tab is working well . seems smoother . Also kept root with voodoo.
Same here...
I had this same issuethis once, after update with the same intention, was considering either clear cache or to do a full wipe from that level as opposed to doing it through settings. Almost had a stroke u I saw the animated android with the famous (or rather infamous red triangle) Ended up using the one in Backup and Restore in system settings. Think I will try this again, since this concerns me. Anyone else seeing this? If recovery is broken in JB, we have another wait on out hands. Sigh
ditto, starting to see a trend...
Same here, I've had no luck getting past the initial stock recovery screen. Not good.
When you flash OTA update you lose custom recovery.
i have custom recovery installed on JB but it is useless. nothing wants to mount.

I kept root with OTA Root Keeper. So I was able to reflash TWRP from Goomanager. But anyway it cannot mount either the internal storage nor the microSD card. There seems to be no working recovery for JB, yet.

That's not entirely accurate... if you mount /system in twrp, you will see externalSD is mounted instead. Kind of goofy. Messed me up good, since I expected to install supersu through recovery. Now I have no root and no useful recovery! Anyone know the mount point cure?

Has anyone been able to get past red exclamation point andy in recovery mode yet?

This recovery works with the JB Kernel. Flash it using fastboot.

I like a few others was stuck at the infamous red triangle with no way to get into TWRP. Lost custom recovery. Did the above mentioned in fastboot and was able to flash CWM and then was able to flash Supersu via CWM. Got me out of a jam, unfortunately missed the opportunity to NVFLASH on .26, had already upgaded to .30
merge thread?

[Q] Bootloop after flashing TWRP. Please help.

I was on locked on stock OTA JB.
I unlocked a few days ago, then last night flashed TWRP. Created a nandroid, then rooted.
Today I've spent several hours downloading ROMs, doing Titanium backups, surfing forums, backing up my personal files etc. i.e. using my tablet normally without problems.
I decided it was time to flash a ROM so booted in TWRP to create a fresh nandroid. Then when it finished I rebooted the system with the plan to copy the nandroid to my pc.
The tablet booted, but then after 30s or so rebooted. It's now stuck in this boot loop. So I tried a cold boot, and then restoring the latest nandroid and the problem persists. I'm currently trying to restore the pre root nandroid I made.
To recap - I am on stock OTA JB, with TWRP v2.3.1.0 recovery. Any thoughts?
Ok just to update - the pre root nandroid seems to be stable at the moment. So... What to do?
Should I reflash the recovery? Try a different recovery?
Any ideas why the nandroid would be borked when the system seemed stable when I created it?

Question: Does TWRP actually root the TF300? Mine is unlocked but I am looking for the easiest way to root the device.
No it doesn't, it just replaces stock recovery and allows you to gain root.
You could start your own thread. Or, you could read the thread in Android Development that gives clear instructions for noobs to gain root and install TWRP or CWM.

which ROM were you trying to flash? was it a JB rom?

After you install TWRP, you just need to flash a root zip file with TWRP to gain root..

Since this thread got immediately hijacked i'm not sure but I'm going to assume this part of your post was aimed at me...
I wasn't trying to flash a ROM at all. I hadn't even got that far. All I'd done was flash the recovery, root it and then create a nandroid. It was creating the nandroid that seemed to trigger the boot loop, even though that makes zero sense.

can you get back into fastboot connected to your PC?
I'd try to re-flash TWRP. Also make sure you are using the JB version, not the ICS version.

I just unlocked and flashed TWRP on my tf300 (with the OTA JB update) this morning, and everything is working fine. I also flashed a root file without any issue.
I reflashed TWRP and re-rooted it seems to be OK.
Then I found I couldn't get any ROMs to work - they all froze at the boot screen. The solution to that problem lies in flashing the US update of JB rather that the WW. Now I'm running Hydro with Untermensch's kernel.
One thing I did notice with TWRP 2.3 is I get the error "can't mount /storage" in the log whenever I do anything. A bit of research suggests this might be an issue with TWRP 2.3, not present in 2.2. I wonder if that is what was causing the boot loop issue I had previously.
I can't seem to find a blob of 2.2 to downgrade to so I'm living with it for now and hope it's not going to cause problems down the line.

Good that TWRP always using the same names for a DL Link. So here is the 2.2 for JB Bootloader
If you are looking for ICS just edit the dl link .
