Guys, Lets Get @Drod2169 a Thunderbolt - Donate Here!

Ok guys, It's that time again. Time to help a great dev get a Thunderbolt so we can continue to enjoy a wild variation of Roms and Themes.
@Drod2169, former and current dev on the Droid X and Samsung Fascinate (and broke ass college student lol) could use a little help raising the funds for a dev phone. Anyone who knows him, knows he has a real passion for android and dedicates A TON of time to it. You can rest assured your money is going to a great person in the android community. His work is always top notch and I can assure you it'll be worth a few bucks to throw in the pot. Ask any current or former Droid X & Fascinate user, Drod does not disappoint.
A few notes
-This was not his idea, he wouldnt ever ask.
-No one is demanding you give him money, if you have something against it, move along. No hater comments please.
NO one here is begging, it just gives us more Rom options, which is ALWAYS a great thing.

Don't have the Thunder Bolt, don't plan on it, but I sent a small token his way cause I love rubiX for the Droid X, drod rocks and so does rubiX! Without devs like drod and others, smartphones would be boring lol

Do I have to do this by myself?

I wish I could but I am a broke ass college student myself... lol Donate to Drod so all of us moving on to the T-Bolt can continue to see awesome dev work! If I wasn't giving my X to the GF I would part some of the sale profits to this effort.

i would gladly donate a few dollars to help the great morfic get this phone but we have to come up with some sort of benefit for the people that dont know what he does or have never used his work.....

id say only people that donate to him can use the pre released beta/alpha kernels he makes....
but that never really seems to work and get alot of interest...

i think maybe every dollar we donate to him he should also add to the pot...
i.e. i donate 15 bucks he puts in 15 bucks
so its not all of the community paying for his device just helping him
or maybe he should send out thank you android cards made from his blood and sweat to anyone that donates.....

Yes he is a great dev. I'll set up a fund somewhere, let me see what i can do. Might not get to this tonight but i will get to it. I have been talking to him all day today and he is a great guy. Just for the record I will probably be throwing in 50 bucks myself.
I would like to ask you people if you have time, can you try to help spread the word?

In terms of a fund, why don't you have one of the mods here hold onto it. Mikey1022 and Ryanmo5 are good guys. That way people knew it was going to the right cause Just a thought

Agree with this! Maybe make a Facebook group like TW/EDT.
TW once release a built exclusive to the FB group and everyone respected it and there was no leaks!

Based on my geek level, a dropbox.access on.a.shared folder if people prefer this added benefit, I can do similar over mailing list to unpublished links on my host.
Not much of a fb guy.

im in for 15 as well. i havent personally used any of his work since i've never owned a vibrant, but i've certainly heard a lot about him.
always feels good to help out someone who can help us out as well.

(by the way, this was jface's idea, white & I didn't know he was doing this, thanks jface)

I will be 110% committed to development on the G2X. First order will be a multitude of lockscreens for everyone to choose from. Roman has been developing all kinds of status bar tweaks and such which can be viewed here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1123830.
Since the G2X is aosp based we will be able to do so much more with it. That and that fact that Roman is a java master. Needless to say, I dont think anyone will be disappointed.
BTW - thanks jumaan for getting this going.

Yeah they most definitely will be once/if they are able to purchase the phone(s).

Good to hear you guys are interested. I looked at some of your work and was very impressed. I donated a bit...will do more next week (after payday).
A note to everyone complaining about a perceived lack of development...devs can't afford to purchase every new device that they are willing to support (working for free). If you want more development, support it. Skip the morning Starbuck's and give a couple bucks...just my two cents.

Guys, I used birgertimes roms in the vibrant days and they were the most stable, eye candy full roms, that would fly. I'm down to donate when I get trip a computer. We need more developers.

Agreed. Y'all are kind of jumping the gun here. I know you want it now, but just be patient. The last thing you want is something that's been rushed. There shouldn't be deadlines on these types of things. ICS will be released, and when it is, the devs will get to work on it. Just...chill for a bit, lol.

Man, a lot of these threads going around.
It's not gonna happen with out source. Might as well give the money to CM team as they will be the first to get a ROM out with everything functioning. Source isn't going to be dropped until the Nexus is out. So I won't even expect source to drop at the very earliest maybe beginning of December. Then it will probably take the CM team maybe a month or two to get Alpha builds out. So realistically, I honestly don't expect ICS builds for this phone until maybe the middle of Jan to beginning of Feb of next year.

You can't get a stable rom from an SDK dump. You can only get a buggy rom with most things not working. The SDK drivers are not compatible with most phones. You have to wait for source and that might still be difficult as the drivers on our phone are for GB. They need to be compiled for ICS and without source and LG releasing an ICS rom this is going to be very difficult to do, even for the most talented devs.

I know. But there's just no point right now in asking for it.
I think everyone here knows who's going to be the first to come out with a build of ICS for 60+ devices, or how ever many CM team upkeeps.

Very well put my thoughts exactly! Donating to these developers shouldn't be a "do this for me and I'll donate" situation. It should be done simply for the fact that we wouldn't have ANY of this without them to begin with. Too many people think they're just entitled to everything (I'm not talking about the original poster just people in gerneral ) even when it's already given to them for free!! I completely understand why some developers get fed up and quit working on these phones because of people who piss and moan about everything, without even contributing in the least bit. And it's because of those entitle people we've already lost a few awesome developers, which sucks but who can blame them? Can you imagine what it would be like to work your ass off just so you can give something to someone for free, and instead of being thanked for your hard work, all they do is complain about it? Just go to the Market and read some of the reviews on a FREE app for an example of that ****!! These assholes don't have to spend a dime on the app, yet all they do is sit there and complain about it!! God I hate people sometimes! LOL So my point is that if you enjoy having your phone rooted and having access to things you never would've without rooting it, then that's the reason you should donate to these developers. (End Rant)

Personally, I say we pool a bounty for a working AOSP build. Even the best SDK port won't touch a legit build. I'd put some money towards someone laying down the foundations for a native port.

I'd just like to thank everyone!

Hi I would just like to thank everyone that has helped me on this forum the Samsung Galaxy S 4G has been my first very phone and when I got it I already knew what I wanted to do with it which was install a custom rom but didn't know much about the procedures and had a lot of help from the community here at XDA. I am kind of sad that I will be returning this phone back to the Tmobile retailer because I will be missing all of you guys that are so helpful to me and everyone else, but also happy that I will be getting a newer phone (having the SGS4G for under a month). Reasons I am returning is because currently I pay a overpriced plan for features I barely even use so will be getting a cheaper plan and buying a phone by itself, for whatever phone I will be getting I can at least hope that community will be half as helpful as the members on this section!
I like to especially thank some people who have really took the time to help me out.
The first guy that helped me with rooting and such is Fbis251!
I received a very great if not the most help from thomas.raines, a lot of other people I like to thank too are dsexton702, JuLes' MostWanted, DnickDominic, RaverX3X, lumin30, and Im sure I'm missing a lot of people!!!
Shout out to Raver's miui rom never got to try that but man the preview screenshots look sexy!! Also was waiting on airfluip's 4.0 version but I am sure the wait is worth it guys will be amazing as well!
