[APP][1.6+] Google Bookmark Import Tool 1.11 - Android Apps and Games

Title:
Google Bookmark Import Tool
Description:
* Selectively Import / Download your Google Bookmarks. Labels are supported.
* View, delete and rearrange the bookmarks on your phone.
Can you help translate?
NOTE: default browser does not support folders for organising your bookmarks. Nothing I can do to change this. Sorry. Also rearranging bookmarks can do strange things. If it's a problem I will remove the feature.
Recent Changes:
* New requested features.
* New layout.
* Speed improvements.
Download:
Android Market
AndroidPIT
I hope this can useful to some, and I hope you can help me fix the bugs

I presume this is for Gingerbread and lower versions, cause ICS does seem to support folders ... it actually syncs them directly from the gmail account.
I only wish ICS would allow a view other than icon views.
Was looking for this kind of software about 3 months back. Too late, I've now moved on to ICS.
Thanks anyway

Thanks Paparasee. I haven't looked at this new ICS feature.
My app does work on ICS. I just added the comment about folders as some users have asked that my app organise bookmarks into folders (which as you've said doesn't work).
Just about to upload a bug fix version. This is really for me to learn the android system before I move onto some other app idea. Hopefully I'm not 3 months behind on those too...

Hebrew Calendar and Jewish Holidays

Since I have done the work, I might as well share it . . .
Here by are attached files that allow you to include Hebrew Calendar and Jewish Holidays in any PDA calendar (WindowsMobile / Palm / Android / BlackBerry).
The files are CSV files compatible with Outlook import format.
In order to incorporate the data to your phone's calendar do the following:
1. unzip the file.
2. start Outlook (or any other app that is compatible with the outlook CSV format)
3. Import the files
(in Outlook: File->Import/Export->Import from another app->
Comma separated values (Windows)->select destination as calendar->finish)
4. Check that the import went well (just see that the hebrew dates and holidays exist in the calendar)
5. Sync your device's calendar
*** it is recommended to import and sync each period separately -
meaning: import calendar and holidays to Period X and sync,
then import calendar and holidays to Period Y and sync, and so on.
In addition - I attach one of the files used to create the CSVs -
it is a OOo calc file with some (many) formulas and several macros,
so if you want, you can edit/add/change.
(If you edit it in OOo you would have to export each sheet as a separate CSV file)
Enjoy

Would somebody be willing to test gingerbread calendar synchronizaton, I looked at source code and it looks the same but I would like to test that it is working correctly.
Is Outlook required?
Yes, Outlook 2007 or 2010.

Sorry, where?
cz.psencik.simple
Q: is there a Due Today fildter (overdue + due today)?
A: Will do
Q: Can I filter by category?
A: No, maybe will do.
Q: Can I sync calendar in a specific date frame only (now it syncs all calendar items) ?
A: No
Q: Can I not sync completed tasks?
A: No, similar features were present millions years ago when devices had limited memory, I want to have everything in phone. You can move those tasks to different folder/archive in Outlook now.
Q: Contacts don't show after sync.
A: What phone, you must enable Local Sync account in Contacts application (open Contacts, Menu, Display options, check Local Sync All Contacts) - btw it is described in "manual"
Could this thread be moved to different forum where new users can post?

Hi Ondřej,
Thanks a lot for your answers. This really helped. Also do you think it may be a good enhancement if the app can sort tasks by two fields? (for example by Due Date and then by Priority)
Thanks,
Sergey

Hi Sergey, I think it may be a good enhancement. Will do it likely.
great,i love it ! does it have italian language ?
i also loved it! =)
thanks,
unfortunatelly I do not speak Italian, so there is no Italian language. I can post language files somewhere and you can translate it for yourself.
I relased update with some of Sergey's requirements.
Wow!!
I regret I haven't found it before - testing it right now and it looks really very impressive.
I also have installed AutoSync Account Activator.
I'll be syncing Calendar and Contacts via corporate push through Email.apk (with fixed 60mA drain in no-data/flight mode) - but was missing Notes.
And it's convenient to have your Simple Note and Task apps - both are cool!
In short, your solution deserves much more publicity!! Everything seems to work OK, but some questions for explanation:
* the PC Local Sync app - does it have to be running? or is it just to provide info. Pressing X seems to kill it, but the process seem to remain active.
* BTW, I see more than 1 LocalSync.exe process, is this correct? or is it due to running again PC Local Sync after closing it with X?
* the pairing is defined by IP number. what happens if my notebook is automatically assigned another IP number on next boot - do I have to adjust the address manually? will the app know it is actually the same pairing, or will it try to define a new one (all settings again)? could it be searched by name in the local pool 192.168.x.x?
cheers,
1. PC Local Sync app - if you shuthdown in via X it should shutddown (after while), if not it is bug - you can kill it with task manager.
2. You should not see more local sync processes, it means that something is hung (kill with task manager). Note - if you minimize app it is in tray, still running.
I will take a look at desktop application to improve this :/ It is masively multithreaded so some thread is probably hanging (however I did not have experience this much, is it WiFi or Usb sync?)
3. If computer changes IP address (you can use hostname too), you can change it by pressing button with link icon in that pair configuration - so settings will be kept.
If you delete pairing all sync data are removed indeed and you do not want that because it would have to resynchronize (can take hours if you have tens of thousands items in Outlook).
Thanks for clarifications.
re: PC LocalSync
Seems like all is good, X closes the app and also process. Minimizing puts it in tray. Just running it twice produces 2 processes ...
It seems the app does not need to run for syncing - is it just for info and monitoring? or does it have to run in order to sync items?
(If it is needed it'd be better if X just minimized it, to avoid closing by accident ...)
1 minor issue is that I have 2 Outlook profiles set up for manual selection at start-up - if I start Localsync before starting Outlook, it tries to start Outlook but your initial LocalSync logo hangs on top of the profile selection blocking it (can't be moved)
re: changing IP (this is a nuisance)
I guess you mean running Localsync on my HD2, then pressing adress/machine name at the top, then second icon at the bottom, next to Save, then edit address and re-pair? still not too convenient.
Trying to use hostname I get Error: UnknownHostException: <hostname>. What am I missing? Hope we can resolve this, I'd be very happy ...
BTW, tested USB sync and all is well, but I would prefer to keep it as option for syncing outside my home network only, I'm constantly on Wifi at home.
cheers,
PC application is important, it is server which exposes Outlook to android. Do not start it multiple times, it does not matter because it starts on other port, but it is not useful.
I did not test app with mutliple profiles, I will have to improve it in this area to avoid data loss (if you sync one profile, switch profile, sync then you will probably loose data).
In order to use host name, you must configure DHCP/DNS in your routers, I tried it now and it works with name then. I am using also fixed ip addresses for particular devices (where possible).
many thanks, forgot about my router config . I assigned a fixed IP to my notebook and all should be well - I should have automatic synchronization of my notes, tasks and files whenever I'm at home.
Outlook profiles is not a big issue for me, as the only difference between them are additional private mail accounts (which cause some problems while at work), data is the same. Still, you may make preparations for more sophisticated users...
So the only minor issues you can think of improving are:
* allow changing Outlook profiles if PC LocalSync starts before Outloook,
* make it more difficult to close PC LocalSync inadvertently (X minimizing not closing; separate Exit)
As mentioned, I'm push syncing Calendar and Contacts via Email.apk, and not using Tasks much - so can't help testing them.
But once again congratulations on very good apps - I'll be recommending them!!
One problem is the thread title is not mentioning local Outlook synchronization at all, so people might be missing it - I would say Note and Task apps (both very nice) are rather in addition ... unless you depend on Market exposure ...
thanks,
Thanks, I updated title. The app original name was Simple Sync but I discovered that this name is trademarked so I renamed it to Local Sync. And originally it did not have so many functions as it has now.
I am syncing exchange with this (calendar) because I do not like policy pushed by Exchange.
There can be only issue with Contacts, because manufacturers are doing proprietary changes in contacts app. But it should work on base Android, Htc and Samsung.

[Q] [Android] Best Agenda/Organize/todo-list/Journal/bookmark app

I've always been a confused, badly organized guy, and my head is one big chaotic mess. Since I wont carry a paper agenda all the time, I've recently bought a smartphone (SGS2), mainly to keep things organized and structured.
The problem is, for each task there's a different app. Now I've got a zillion apps, and I wonder if that's the best way to structure/organize things.
I currently use on my android phone:
- Jorte Calender synched with Google Calender.
- Dropbox to sync files between different platforms
- Evernote for my journal/notes/to-do list.
- QuickPic to view my pictures (normal pictures and pictures of paper documents) and video's.
- Opera is my main browser and I use the build-in bookmarker. The bookmarks are synched between my phone and my pc.
- Build in sms/contact Touchwiz app for my contacts
- Gmail app for my mail and mail addresses.
- etc
I want to reduce the number of apps to get things done easier and faster. You guys know any all-in-one apps that are capable of many of the listed tasks? Or could you explain how you structure things?
EDIT: Sometimes I don't even know what app I should use for certain things.
For example: I'd like to make a list with my favorite movies. Should I do this with evernote?
Or: I've got something scheduled and used my calender app for that, but I also need to make a few notes about that appointment. Do I use my calendar, or a notebook app like evernote?
Thanks in advance.
Jochem
What do you guys suggest?
I would just use evernote for everything! Why do you make such a mess with apps? Just get used to ONE app, and you should be fine
There is as of now, no "multi-app" that can do ALL of your tasks. Unfortunatly, I think you'll have to use the apps the way you already are. Unless you want to root your phone, and install a custom ROM that has some sort of "multi-app"

[App] Sync notes

Hi all,
I developed a Android app, Sync notes. I hope some one could actually test it and give me their valuable suggestions
Sync Notes is a simple, light weight and elegant notepad application where you can take your notes down quickly. With its simple navigation UI taking notes is extremely easy. Save the notes to your Dropbox account so that the notes are only with you and secured.
Features:
• Create and save notes.
• Assign labels to notes
• Search notes
• Save notes in cloud to your Dropbox account.
• Save notes to SD Card
• Create or delete new labels
• Themes
• Fonts
Future Updates:
• New cloud options like Google Drive
• Widget
• Reminders
• Import notes from external storage
Here is the play store link,
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mkr.notes
Thanks,
Murali
I like it so far ... except for the ads
Some things I would like ...
a) an option to lock labels so that they cannot be viewed without a pin/password/pattern
b) an option to delete in-built labels or to rename them (I do not want labels such as personal, ideas)
c) an "all notes" view where in all the notes are visible on the opening screen (except those falling under "locked labels" mentioned in (a) above),
I look forward to the option to sync with Google Drive and .... if possible sync with Google Keep (can be synced with keep so that we can even update notes through the PC?).
Hi,
Thanks for the suggestions.
I'll implement these for the upcoming release.
once again thanks for using it.
Cheers,
Murali

Hi Paparasee,
A new release is uploaded to play store.
As you mentioned I implemented the pin lock, able to delete default labels and google drive implementations.
Also the UI has been updated and new features like import from sd card has been added.
Can you please install the latest app and tell your opinion.
Thanks in advance,
Murali

[APP][4.2+]Pure Rss - Offline Rss Reader(Out of Beta)

Being an avid news reader, I really missed the good old Google reader when it shut down. After that, a couple of services like Feedly, FlipBoard popped up...but I didn't like the curation done by them. Feedly is an awesome service...but its UI has become really old and no longer interesting.
I prefer my news only from a couple of websites and don't want any curation. In my opinion, an Rss reader should be lite and offer a complete offline support -- I hate turning my phone to a brick when the network goes off.
So I started off on this project initially for my personal use, but decided to release it for public use. It is adfree and I don't hold any backend servers to serve the feeds. This app grabs the feeds directly from the websites you subscribe to and save them on your device. I have provided a couple of default feeds, but you can add your own feeds as well. OPML import available too.
This app has come out really well so far and now, I can use some feedback from the XDA community to perfect it Please let me know how I can improve the app further.
Note on Feedly Support Feedly support is done, but the developers at feedly have closed down support for new apps. I will enable that as soon as I get a response from them here https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/feedly-cloud/6OHPVevlnRM. If you have a developer token and would like to use that feature, let me know and I will push an update with limited feedly functionality(250 api calls per day, manually refresh your token every 30 days).
I am currently working on having support for NewsBlur service here.
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.udn4hc.purerss
To list out a few features in the app -
- Complete offline support
- flip scrollng - similar to flipboard
- pager scrolling - similar to feedly
- standard Android scrolling with lists and cards
- Custom sync/cleanup
- Alternate Themes - 11 currently, including a dark theme
- Material Design
- OPML Import
- Add Custom feeds
- 6 fonts available
- Readability mode - Save full articles from websites(this is in beta and hence, the option is slightly hidden)
Looks interesting! I'm gonna try it this evening.
Any way to import the subscription list from Feedly besides adding them one by one? If you could import the subscription list there would be no need to use the Feedly API.

You can export your subscription list from feedly as an OPML file...and import it in this app. You can have all your subscriptions that way.
