If it's true, why is that? Is it because stock ROM developers are better?
Not being a troll. Honest question.
I'm just curious. I use galaxy Ace, and I would very much like to use a custom ROM to get rid of all the samsung junk apps. But if it's unstable, it may not be worth it.
No. Well made custom roms are usually more stable and faster than stock roms, especially for devices which have unoptimized stock roms, such as the SGS.
You can remove apps from the stock rom by rooting it - Its not necessary to flash a custom one.
Hi 314! Really, I didn't know that. How do I do it safely?
My personal experience is that custom ROMs have been every bit as stable as stock ROMs. I'm quite often running alphas and dailies and impressed with their stability. Of course, doing that, you're bound to run into some gotcha's from time to time but that's part of the fun of dailies, discovering the changes and surprises. I'm on Deck's alpha1 ICS ROM and it's been sweet, but alpha2 hasn't worked for me (wigetsoid seems broken). Shurg. So I restored alpha1, wait for alpha3, and try and get my post count up to give Deck some feedback in his thread.
Thanks mhwarfield. What are dailies? and what is OPS?

Well i heard this before in some youtube video but exactly not sure how and with which software may be (root manager). Please somebody with experience in this matter give us a full guide how to remove junk apps after rooting. Thanks in advance

You can do that easy with "Titanium Backup" from the Market after you Rooted your Device. I think you dont need "Titanium Back Pro" to Remove Junk Apps.

It's really really not difficult.
Android stores all user apps in "/data/app"
all stock apps are stored in "/system/app" (this includes every system app, even the keyboard, camera and the gallery are in here)
this is the place where the junk apps should be ( i never had a bloated phone, but i guess they are in here, because we need root to manipulate files here)
now use a file explorer with root function (i use root explorer, and i definitely recommend it) and browse to this folder.
search the junkApp.apk and delete it.
you're done
EDIT: oh and yes, you can do it with titanium backup too, but i don't know if you need the pro version for it
Once you get custom ROMs out of Alpha/Beta/RC, they're better than stock, in my opinion. "Custom" means they can be designed for extra speed, power, leanness, beauty, or any combination of the above.
I don't mind helping out with betas and contributing to developers. Usually, by the time it gets to beta, most stuff is buttoned up nice and tight--plus I don't demand much from my phone.
Sounds like you got it covered with root and Titanium Backup. But do not fear the custom ROM.
It really depends. Some developers are EXTREMELY aggressive and throw a ton of crap into their kernel/ROM without much testing so they can "get ahead" - but often this leads to instability.
Others carefully fix issues one by one, with the exception of initially doing "standard" mods (like extended power menu on Android).
Some ROMs will often see releases coming out multiple times a week, often with lots of changes and reverting back and forth, and ALWAYS rebasing on the latest and greatest stock base, even before it's proven. This approach can sometimes pay off, but the risk of screwing up is high. Most such ROMs turn out to be crap.
Other ROMs take the most stable known base available, and fix whatever remaining known issues exist, and make a few standard tweaks. These are the ROMs that you still see people using more than three months after the last update. An example of this is VillainROM over in I9100-land. I only know of two issues with it - one has a one-time-after-install workaround, and the other is specific to trying to run that ROM on a device it wasn't designed for (I777).
Many people may be ask what is root? Surely most of you know there is an account called administrator in WINDOWS XP and it gets the highest permission to operate the system. Then, Root is to cell phones what administrator is to computer. Only after you root your phone can you have the permission to customize your phone.
Then can you share your root experience. I am considering whether to root my samsung phone.
Ahh for so many reasons. But to name a few: get rid of bloatware, block ads, listen youtube in the background, record my screen, most importantly customize your phone the way you like it and many many more
For more custom features and to make my phone more smoother. My stock rom was really freezy and laggy. When I rooted my phone and downloaded a new rom, my phone feels a lot more smoother.
Mainly for customization and for remove ads u.u

To remove ADS, definitely. I understand the value of them, but I can't stand them...

Install a custom ROM and you'll see why.
Rooting gives privilege , if you are not satisfies with what you have , default apps , any other think which can be modified only if rooted .Although i you wont be having company warranty anymore.
I saw this great reddit comment that summed me up pretty well; for a while I did the whole root thing. Loved it. Tweaking every tiny detail of a phone, getting access to insanely powerful apps, etc.
But it all started souring. Confession: I'm a convert from Linux and Windows to Mac. And that's because Mac's just work for me; when I'm needing to do something vital, I'd much rather something that is 50% less powerful but 100% stable. And I've found with my Galaxy Note 4, although I am annoyed at Touchwiz, at a lot of the stock touches, I much prefer having a non-rooted phone that, if/when an error happens, I know is nothing to do with me.
"My evolution using Android..

I root my device to get rid of bloatware, to install custom roms, to customize my device the way I want.
For best battery life.
- Remove bloat/spy/adware
- Titanium backup for easily migrating apps+data (including system apps) to other devices
- Micro-manage permissions of apps for security and efficiency.
- A good proxy/VPN app (if you've been to China you know what I mean).
- Killer youtube replacement app (downloads, plays in background, checks other video services, etc)
- Screen rec. app (pre-lollipop)
- Adaway (blocks adds even in games)
- Tasker
- Possibly to re-partition the eMMC --typically with those cheap 8GB devices that emulate an SD card and only have 1GB or so for apps. But that can be tricky. Would preferably try to flash a custom ROM/Recovery if possible, which is not really related to root.
- Also didn't add nandroid backups to the list because I don't tend to flash custom ROMs much.
I rooted my Samsung as soon as I got it in order to get rid of the unnecessary apps and save the ROM space. Enjoy my customized phone since I don't like the feeling being led by the rose.
I root my devices to use them to their highest potential and of course for Flashing various ROMS and Kernels

I root mainly for removing bloats and of course more customization.
manly to clean a lot of unnecessary apps in order to get more ram and faster device, also to put allays the software of the newer devises
I have never had this issue on any other device with 5.0+ and wonder if it is unique to the X2
I can do any app that says start at boot up, e.g., Smart Unlock, and any autostart app, and oftentimes the service will not start at boot up
I have downloaded and tried a number of apps and utilities (about 4 init.d utilities and bootcomnand) and unfortunately no dice. "Autostart and Stay" is the latest.
Not only will the service not startup at boot, even manually started (which like Pavlov's dog I have trained myself to do), it does not "stay" ie keep the apps persistent or working in the background. Padlocking the apps (pulling down vs zooshing up in the multifinder/square box background tasks doesn't keep things executing.
This is a big hassle. I'm rooted and would do a single command line type command in boot shell pro, but don't have a command I can toss in to start the process or app and/or keep the process persistent.
Any help appreciated.

Go into phone manager then settings then shortcuts and add the Dropzone shortcut to your home screen. Then open the shortcut and enable everything in dropzone.
That is great advice. There are still nuances about this phone I need to explore. The nuanced nuance was I needed to have the dropzone shortcut (the service was already turned). I also had to protect it so it would run in the background during sleep (?!?) and after that third reboot it booted the service correctly. It seems like a combo of science and mysticism. But it works & thank you!

Let's check your energy saving level. Any level higher than lowest one makes problems with prematurely switching off apps.
Energy saving mechanizms are pretty nasty in X2. I have great issues with notifications from WhatsApp and other communicators till I switched energy saving level to the lowest.

Thank you. I have the energy savings set to "Normal" as the next level seemed to save only 5%. I'm learning something new every day. Thank you.
I'm trying to research the wonders of dropzone. The best I can find is that it allows a small set of apps to allowing floating notifications. Doesn't really explain the ability to get autoboot things to work or other magic. I'm grateful that this and some of the protected app changes are making this androud work like it should (or like other phones) . A slight more battery drain but a worthy tradeoff for tearing my hair out.

If you don't mind losing the No Disturb mode, you can delete the whole system manager app from system/app if you're rooted and you won't ever have to deal with the permission problems again.
I'm up for that. Would that kill the app lock also? Would a Titanium freeze do the same? Guess I can give it a shot.
And… it works. App Lock just as if it didn't exist. Will keep Phone Manager frozen for now. Thanks!
And it seems much faster/smoother, which is saying something since it was snappy to begin with.

Yeah when it's removed it even seems like the battery lasts a little longer. It's something I wish wasn't even included as just a task manager app would have sufficed. You can always delete the PhoneDiagnose and PowerGenieEngine as well. I can also remove them from the Super Slim KangVIP ROM as well if the majority would like that. My goal is a flashable ROM with no bloat that runs fast, gets great battery life and makes it easy for everyone. In fact, I'm going to remove them from my stock debloated ROM's and the KangVIP ROM's from now on due to the fact that a lot of us are having permission issues. I'll have three ROM's for each. A stock original bloated one, a medium debloated one with most of the Chinese apps we don't use removed but all the stock apps like Email will remain and a maximum debloated ROM and all the Huawei apps that can be removed will be.

I'm having the same problem with some services at boot (I'm not rooted yet). I'm not sure I understand what you're explaining here. I created the shortcut to the dropzone and made sure everything was allowed in there. What do you mean by "I also had to protect it so it would run in the background during sleep"? (How do i do that?) Thanks!
AJ is the expert. Freezing phonemanager was easiest, but may require root. Search under settings (there is a search bar at the top) for "protect" services you can unprotect services that don't need to run in the background. Protect the ones you want to run, but they will use battery. May be in the phone manager app if not under setting
Thanks, I already tried that but I still don't get all the services to start at boot. Looks like rooting and freezing phonemanager is gonna be the only way... Thanks anyway for the help!
Killing phonemanager was the best thing that returned the X2 to an actual android-like device. There are a couple other services to freeze you can go through thread that also help.
Hey guys
i need some tips or feedbacks. So ive been with the Galaxy since the S3, and each one ends up becoming the same. They are great when i first get them, then within the first 2 months, they pretty much turn into crap. The UI isnt smooth, things take a while to open, apps dont transition to another smoothly, opening texts,, going back and forth between texts and apps arent the best and i constantly get problems to the point i need to do a warranty exchange with tmobile.
Do you guys experience the same or are you phones super fast and fluid? Even with a rooted phone i experience the same. Whenever i test out my friends iphone, everything seems to be super quick and fluid, just not customizable and limited to what you can do
What can i do to improve my phone or this is just how these galaxies are?
Thanks!
Hiya
I find it's good to reboot every so often, and I also use the built in Smart Manager to Clean All, and I don't experience any lag.
I do run my phone pretty clean though and don't have a million useless Apps which does tend to slow it down.
Reboot and use the smart manager from time to time and you should be good to go. I also find that using Package Disabler, Nova Launcher and Anti virus Apps SLOW DOWN my phone and make it buggy and laggy.
I have now wiped it and left it fully stock and it multi tasks properly and is super quick.

Thanks for your response. i already do all that. I use clean master everyday to clear my phone of cache and boost it so all background running apps are closed. when rooted, i deleted all useless apps and bloatware. i do restart my phone but still, i face these problems. its just frustrating when using an iphone because everything is so fast! i just want to fix up my android to be the same but it always turns to ****. im now facing a problem where outgoing texts stays stuck on sending and doesnt go through so now i have to use a third party messaging app.

Seriously, cleanmaster?? Delete immediately! If you're rooted, why don't you freeze the bloats? Use amplify and greenify combo! Can't believe a rooted user uses cleanmaster
Clearing cache every time is not good and results in stutters as cache is meant to make loading times faster and usually only cleaned if there are signs of corruption!
Your description looks suspicious

So if you're no longer rooted, you can't use titanium backup. No need to root the S6 as you won't be able to update and rooting without using custom roms isn't that great.
Use package disabler pro! It's enough. Put apps to always optimize in battery settings. Use a custom launcher like Apex or Nova. Update everything. Clear cache in storage menu and reboot. You should be good.
Try leaving at least 1GB out of your internal memory free, although its impact is not proved!

no, i meant i used titanium backup when i was rooted. im no longer rooted because i had to update my phone in order to fix some problems i was having. When i was rooted, i used a custom rom, twisted sixx version 3. i want to reroot my phone again, but i want to know if i need to download new files again to root if what i used last time is ok. last time i rooted was in septempber so my files are from that time frame. If not ok, where can i go to get the new files i need to root again? also with your phone, is everything usually fast and fluid or do you come across the problems i mention earlier as well?

I'm completely stock and using package disabler pro and app optimizer. It's not buttery smooth like a Nexus or Motorola, but it still is a fast experience, i.e, rarely any scrolling stutters. Try putting animations to 0.5x or 0/off.

Or he could use Kernel Adiutor and set Androids build in kill scheduler to free ram
Sent from my LG-LS740 using XDA Free mobile app
My little tips :
First. Speed up your android device by *not* installing any speed booster app.
2. Android is smart enough to force close background services when more ram is needed. And restart them when ram hungry process (e.g heavy game) ends. Do some research, it's a very very bad idea to manually kill background apps and services. Doing so will just decrease both your performance and battery.
3.Stock Samsung provided applications gives better performance and battery life. They also use ram more efficiently. try using stock launcher, stock keyboard, stock E-mail app, etc.
Also every other launcher that uses vertical scrolling will have lags. (Apex,Action,Nova and even Google Now Launcher)
4. Manually clearing cache is also bad idea. Imagine you put your charger on your desk to quickly access it when needed (cache), then someone puts it back to drawer every time :| (Clearing catche)

Thanks for the tips. i already use stock email, stock interenet stock everything. My battery dies extremely quick with minimal use, as oppose to when i had it rooted, which was significantly better. with minimal use today, its been off the charger for 5 hours and im already at 50%. i also dont force close. i just click that menu button and press close all when nothings being used, or are you saying thats not good to do?
i have mine for 10 months, and i don't regret it at all, i had a galaxy S2 and S4 before and i always said i won't get another samsung because of the lag, but this time i made the right choice...the phone flies through everything, loading apps takes no time, opening apps really fast, the truth is this is the first galaxy that didn't lag after a couple of months, at least not for me, there are sometimes some frame drops, but in general it's really fast, i use stock apps, i restart my phone about every week, the battery isn't that good, 3-4 SOT...so not bad but not that good, because this is a phone you wanna keep using all the time and then suddenly the battery die.....the truth is if i had the money now i would get the NOTE5/ S6 EDGE PLUS...because of the battery and big screen, other than that it's perfect....best screen, camera, the new TW is really good....

Hi everyone,
Today I had a chance to go over some of the specs on our phone to still try to come up with one of the best settings to really take advantage of the S7's capability and performance.
Nonetheless I would like to begin with the real numbers I scored on AnTuTu: 147212. To confirm that indeed the settings I applied shrunk space and bloat I also attached the AVERAGE score for the SM-G935U Firmware.
The ROOT guides/procedures provided by @araldtm and @Quickvic30 are both great. Thank you developers for your outstanding work.
The only controversy about rooting is that no matter how well developed, configured or tweaked the root is, IT WILL NEVER....SORRY DEVS....BUT NEVER WILL BE AS PERFECT, STABLE, AND SOLID AS THE MERE STOCK FIRMWARE.
So throughout this quick, easy, humble, and simple image guide I will share with you with the settings that have given me a device I can truly rely on with proven and noticeable performance, optimization, and customization while keeping a solid STOCK FIRMWARE.
EZ PROCEDURE:
- (Optional Step): I would strongly recommend backing up your personal files, apps, and settings in order to do a clean installation of the firmware. the reason for this is because during the setup process, I personally suggest you NOT logging into your Samsung Account because this will end up installing ~6 bloatware apps. I just avoided this.
*Attached is the xml file that I HAVE SET for my device and I always top 2 GB free RAM. Use it at your own risk and enable any system/apps to fit your needs.
Recommended Settings: SUGGESTED TO DISABLE
AOD
Palm Swipe to Capture
Direct Share
Keyboard Vibration
NFC
Keep WiFi during sleep
YouTube
Facebook
Instagram
WhatsApp
TouchWiz (Nova Launcher strongly suggested)
Bloatware apps using Package Disabler. Attached is the debloatpackage.xml script.
Any suggestions feel free to share the deed just as I did. And remember, there is nothing better than finding an alternative way to manipulate our ladies while staying ORIGINAL..and humble
Current Battery Use. Any suggestions, feel free.

He is stock.
Alright im interested, root has me lagging too vad. You installed the G935U first ? And then you installed the xml file ? I am a little confused about that part.
Which root.bat file works for 935u? Does anyone know of progress on something better then an eng AP
Just for grins (I don't believe in benchmarks), I ran Antutu on my completely stock phone with no mods and scored a little over 145,000. An extra 2,000 points is hardly worth doing anything about. I can also get well over 24 hours of battery life with average use at work as long as I have good cell phone signal or airplane mode with wifi on and wifi calling enabled. My opinion is that you all are wasting time with package disablers, debloating, etc. Stock apps are no longer resource hogs, chances are that disabling stock apps is doing more harm than good, especially if other system resources are looking for them. This can result in excess CPU activity and battery drain. Your biggest battery and resource hogs are going to be apps that you physically installed. Especially facebook, and it's ilk. I just gave you my personal experience on one device, so take it for what it's worth. But here you have a whole guide about how to eek out infinitesimally small performance gains whereas I did absolutely nothing and scored virtually the same on a synthetic benchmark.
