Alien ROM provides a concocted stew of TouchWiz, and Gingerbread for your Galaxy S II Skyrocket. Samsung's TouchWiz functionality stays intact, but the Alien theme brings a slight hint of traditional Gingerbread to the party. There are very few theme changes with this ROM.Official Beta Tester signature:

It's not working when I install! I'm receiving force closes, sitting at bootloops, etc.
Make sure you're installing the ROM correctly. Remember that kernels, MODs, radios, and carriers can mess with your phone's performance and workability.
I'm not on AT&T and this ROM is completely broken!
This ROM is not necessarily designed for international compatibility. Please wait for future updates or attempt an install with a proper international kernel.
Why is my device running/booting slowly?
Your first boot will take an unimaginably long time. After that, your device will continue to run slowly until the application cache is built up. Don't worry, the speed will increase as you use the ROM!
Why is my battery life bad?
Your battery life is often killed when flashing ROMs in CWM. For the best battery life, you must drain your device’s battery until it turns off. Plug the device into the AC adapter and let it charge until the image says 100% charged. Then turn it on and use the volume buttons to boot into CWM. Click Wipe Battery Stats under the advanced menu. Then you should charge to 100% and install the ROM. Battery life should be comparable to (if not better than) every other ROM.
Where's my bloatware?
Alien deletes unnecessary bloatware that can be replaced by better applications in the Android Market. If you'd like the bloatware back, you can download the "bloatware.zip" from here.
Why isn't there a battery mod?
You can cook your own battery mod using the UOT kitchen. If you'd like the one I use, you can grab it here.
I thought Alien ROM was by KennethPenn, what the...?
Unfortunately, Kenneth is currently not able to continue development of Alien ROM for the SGSII SR without a phone to develop on. This is an authorized continuation of his work. Please show your support for his work by visiting BriefMobile.
Changelog:
Alien #6
Reverted brightness changes.
Added "Internet call settings" for SIP settings in Phone options.
Added "Network mode selection" (will not stick across reboots with AT&T modems but will stick for the current session).
Added "Stay Awake" development options (will not stick across reboots).
Alien #5.5 (full wipe required due to NFC and BT fixes)
Fixed NFC FC. Breaks Google Wallet, but that didn't really work anyway.
Hopefully fixed Bluetooth.
Added Roboto FlipFont (Settings -> Display -> Screen display -> Font style)
General file cleanup.
No change to frameworks, so the PDroid links in first post and any battery mods you've already cooked will still work fine.
Alien #5 (full wipe recommended if you use NFC)
No more Carrier IQ! It is still technically embedded in framework, but it is completely disabled. This allows MMS to work fine! After the first boot, you should wait about 10 minutes and then reboot. You can then verify there is no iqd process or Agent running. See known issues below if it somehow re-enables.
All system APKs have been re-packed. This solves a problem that occurred with Alien #4 and the "Android System" using more battery than intended. For the nerds, it was constantly running a garbage collection process for ~1 hour after a reboot.
Updated to use my stock kernel. This allows you to use BLN by simply installing the app from the Market. If you have no desire to use BLN, that's fine - no extra battery, etc is used by default.
Bluetooth fixes for HID devices (may fix other issues too).
NFC APK was resigned. This allows you to install the Google Wallet attachment in the first post. Unfortunately, our phone does not have a SecureElement so its unusable. But I have made this change in case some people have SIM cards with SecureElements in them (this is how ISIS will work).
Other minor changes and tweaks based on feedback in this thread.
Known issues:
Flash player seems finicky when installing the ROM. Uninstalling and re-installing through the Market seems to fix it.
Changing the Wi-Fi sleep policy increases battery drain. This is common across many phones and ROMs.
If choosing power off from the Power menu just reboots the phone, you have the first version of Alien #4. Apply the update zip from here in CWM or update to Alien #5+.
If Carrier IQ is re-enabled, simply reboot the phone which will trigger the NoCIQ script again. Wait roughly 5 minutes and reboot once more and Carrier IQ should be gone again. I've never personally seen Carrier IQ be re-enabled, but it is theoretically possible for AT&T to do.
If you are having FC bombardment issues after a reboot and you have ever installed Alien #3, then you will need to use stock recovery (3e) to factory reset, reinstall CWM and finally flash Alien #4 or newer. Wiping data in CWM, factory reset in Settings -> Privacy, etc will NOT work!
Miscellaneous:
If you want to enable "Preferred install location" in Settings -> Applications, run the following through an ADB shell and reboot:
Code:
sqlite3 /data/data/com.android.providers.settings/databases/settings.db 'update system set value="1" where name="set_install_location";'
Sweet will try this. Thank you

I think so. I was able to reproduce them on build 3. They occur because /data was read-only due to filesystem errors. I've changed the install script in an attempt to fix the problem. You may have to wipe data once using stock recovery if you are currently experiencing the problem, but I'm hopeful it won't recur anymore after that.
Is this rom based on ATT? Does it have Carrier IQ?

just to make sure that i understand, when i flash the rom, after the first initial boot, i would have to wipe data using stock recovery by settings->privacy->factory reset. ?

Thanks, I'm looking into this. I noticed it on my phone, but I have a custom kernel (soon to be published as well) and thought maybe it was my kernel. Are you using the kernel that came with the ROM (which is stock but a custom ramdisk)?

No, wipe data through stock recovery (flashed via Odin). If you aren't having the FC issue, then you don't need to worry.
Nice work. Any plans to nix ciq?

Thanks for getting this to #4!
I'm getting the FC bombardment on restarting the device for the first time after initial successful boot.
prior to #4 installation while running #3, I wiped data from OS privacy menu, then flashed #4 from CWM. FC bombardment on restarting the device for the first time after repeat #4 installation.
Going to stock recovery now to wipe data, then I'll try again! I wasn't sure if you expected the same FC problems or not on this version, so I thought I'd report!
*update*: in stock recovery factory reset.
Alien #4 booted w/o issue, restarted twice. Headed back to Odin for some more CWM.

haven't tried it yet but it looks really impressive. Still some thinks I would change and will put back into this rom, because I think it is a little bit TOO slim, but this is everybody's own decision.
looks really nice and will be tested on the weekend.
looks promising.
a couple of questions; you've removed conversations.apk and messaging.apk. what sms app does your rom use?
i can see that you have removed talk.apk. isn't it needed to be on the phone to access the market?
Good job. Thanks for that tutorial on knocking off some cmg. Can you by any chance tell us how to make those boot only files that other mods put up. It really helps to downgrade that way. I will try this once I am back home from work.
cheers
Very clean Rom, at the moment all work for me, market work perfectly, i will test sms and this evening...

Maybe if you dont do a factory reset before installing the rom (rom does a reset before anyways). So if Talk is setup in the first place its required (I'm guessing), but so far without it works fine. Added screenshot above of market with paypal on screen.
Also tiggggr is right, the messaging apps where replaced with a stock MMS app.

If your talking about things like the Android 2.2.1 - 3.4.2-107 TMobile US modified bootloader. No idea, this flashing method I dicuss does not use/make a modified bootloader. Its just removing the Froyo bootloader and system partitions from the sbf.

Ya I have a notion that Stagefright being enabled for player streaming might be the cause. I'm looking into it.

Ok no problem, only modify the media.stagefright.enable-player=true to false or use this buil.prop

Yup Stagefright being enabled for the youtube player was causing the issue. Flash the new version and should be all set.
coming from pays 3.3
I found pays 3.3 to be laggy when trying to close apps and the network connection quite slow and jumping between 3G and H a lot. I think the network issue is causing the lag.
coming from pays 3.3 on 3.4.2_145-003. I thought I'd wipe and factory reset before installing Lawnchair.zip
This left me with a clean ROM but with no home app and having wiped in clockwork recovery meant no debug for an ADB push. I didn't check for ADB connection but I found that voice commands would run and that allowed the selection of clockwork, so no need to reflash sbf.
Just a note if anyone sees this.
ROM has booted now and looks good, people shouldn't complain about what's missing, nothing's missing if you have ever used Titanium or Appmonster.

Ya the reason for re-flashing the sbf is because other rom's (and mine) do remove apps from the system folder. Something which a factory reset wont fix.
However, because my rom does include all stock system apps; yes this should work but like you said if your missing a Launcher in your system folder it will make it complicated.
Otherwise, glad to here its up and running.
thank you very much for the work. the downgrade method you just included are new to me. As long as i´m working on DefyFroyoSense Beta01 and cant fix the camera flash problem, i think your way to flash Froyo and keep downgradability will fix this issue. BTW you optimized rom is great for those who wanna have a personalized system running. Thanks again and keep it coming.

I really liked the rom, although what i did experience was a some random lagging occurring.. after switching on the screen the device seemed to hang completely then just as i was about to pull the battery it began working again. i hadnt installed any apps and i had followed all steps exactly.
I had to reflash an alternative rom in the end because of the freezing...
I am looking forward to trying new builds - cant think of any features needed really, it would just be nice to know if others had similar issue to me and if there was a fix for it.

Was this on the first boot after flashing the rom ? Also what method did you use to get to Finland Froyo ?

BETA 2 Changelog:
Kernel:
-Voodoo lagfix by supercurio! (all partitions converted to ext4)
-Lowmemkiller tweaks
-Background writeout tweaks
-Init.d script support
ROM:
-Theme modifications: Messaging and Settings
-Updated Adobe Flash, Gmail, and Street View

-Added automatic zipalign at boot (init.d script)
-Changed GPRS class to 12
-Changed default UI selection sound
-Disabled power on and charging full sounds
-Fixed a bug in the TouchWiz wallpaper chooser
-Fixed busybox installation
-Fixed permissions to match the UXKG3 release build
-Cleaned up unnecessary libs and binaries only found in the UXKG3 test build
-Removed MediaHub (Purchased content would not play. UXKG3 is probably missing some drm files since it didn't ship with MediaHub.)
BETA 3 Changelog:
ROM:
-Galaxy S II lockscreen
-Fixed Adobe Flash
-Changed hsxpa to 2 (for real this time)
-Updated BusyBox to version 1.18.4 (fixes some things in root apps)
-Removed AOSP Gingerbread launcher (it can be a bit laggy with UXKG3 for some reason)
New Addons:
-Enable AOSP lockscreen
-Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)
-Change overscroll from bounce to glow (Samsung blue)
-Disable all overscroll effects
-Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent
-Revert to the default Infused configuration
Tip:
-There is still some lockscreen lag, but it's only visual. If you quickly drag your finger across the screen it will unlock just as quickly as on Froyo builds despite the background taking a second to start moving. Luckily the Galaxy S II lockscreen makes it much easier to unlock directly to missed calls and messages.
v2.0.0 Stable Changelog:
Kernel:
-Rainbows fixed by LinuxBozo. CWM, video playback, and the camera viewfinder are all rainbow free and working perfectly now!
-Battery charge current property fixed by Entropy512. This should fix apps like Current Widget.
ROM:
-Set wifi scan interval to 120 seconds (hopefully this will improve battery life a bit when wifi is enabled but not connected)
v2.0.1 Changelog:
Kernel:
-Disabled Carrier IQ. It's a service that runs in the background and collects and sends anonymous network statistics to carriers. It was eating cpu cycles and nothing about this was good.
ROM:
-Removed Carrier IQ
-New AOSP style notification pulldown theme
v2.0.4 Changelog:
-Another attempt to fix HSPA+ (modified CSC, stock Froyo APNs, and UCKE3 modem)
v2.0.5 Changelog:
-Brand new modem and ril for you guys to test (KH2 from the Galaxy S 4G)
v2.1.0 Changelog:
LinuxBozo's Hellraiser Beta 6 Kernel:
-Enabled TinyRCU (Entropy512)
-Added Simple IO Scheduler (drowningchild)
-Conservative governor tweaked and set as default (LinuxBozo, netarchy)
-Added interactive governor with tweaks (LinuxBozo, netarchy)
-Added smartass governor (LinuxBozo)
-Added Voodoo Sound v10 (partially working) (Entropy512, bedwa)
-Various fixes
ROM:
-Changed to Nexus boot animation and disabled shutdown animation
-Enabled ad blocking via hosts file
-Brought back the AOSP launcher (now lag free thanks to conservative gov)
-Updated to the new Market, modified to fix the insufficient space error
-Updated Maps, YouTube, and Swype
-Removed Samsung Apps
-Dalvik VM heap size changed from 64M to 48M so less RAM is wasted
-Reverted to UXKG3 ril and UCKE3 modem
-New network tweaks which may improve network performance in some areas
-Fixed APNs for Rogers users and included more APNs for those on other carriers
-ROM package no longer does a full wipe (only /system is wiped)
-Brought back ROM Manager support
v2.2.0 Changelog:
-Fixed an issue that sometimes caused the phone to have no service if rebooted while charging
-Updated to the UCKI3 rils and modem to fix network speed issues
-Updated to the UCKI3 camera libs to fix video recording framerate
-Updated to the latest Market (3.1.5) and modified it to fix the insufficient space error
-Updated Google Maps
v2.2.1 Changelog:
-Fixed GPS (Locks, especially the first one, may be a bit slow though. Test it out a bit and report your findings.)
-Updated to the UCKI4 rils and modem (Let me know if your speeds are still as good as they were with v2.2.0/UCKI3)
v2.2.2 Changelog:
-Reverted to KG3 rils and GPS files so that GPS will work well for everyone (Hopefully this doesn't mess up our improved network speeds. I suspect it may for some, but we'll see. If it does, try the KI3 modem as well.)
v2.2.3 Changelog:
-Reverted to the KI3 modem (Seems to work better than KI4 for most people. If you already flashed this modem on top of v2.2.2 there's no reason to flash this update.)
READ CAREFULLY - NEED TO KNOW INFORMATION:
1) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
Tips and answers to common questions:
1) Animations are disabled by default. Enable them by going to Settings > Display > Animation and selecting "All Animations". If you don't do this, you won't see the CRT screen off animation!
2) If your GPS isn't locking, try this: Go to the phone app and dial *#*#3214789650#*#*. The Angry GPS configuration app will open. Clear GPS data and back out. It may help to reboot after doing that as well.
3) If the power widget isn't working and shows no icons, simply toggling something like GPS in the notification pulldown will fix it. This doesn't seem to be something I caused, but rather a bug in the Rogers shipping ROM. I believe a lot of Galaxy S Gingerbread builds have this problem as well, so it's a Samsung trademark.
ROM Manager Installation Instructions:
1) You must be rooted.
2) If you have a /Voodoo folder on your internal SD card, delete it and reboot.
3) If you're already running a custom ROM with Voodoo lagfix FULLY enabled, you can skip to step 7.
4) Download CWM-community-kernel-v8.zip if you're on Froyo or CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip if you're on Gingerbread and place it on your internal SD card.
5) Install SGS Kernel Flasher from the Market.
6) Open SGS Kernel Flasher, select choose kernel, select the file you downloaded, and select flash kernel. Your phone will reboot and begin to enable Voodoo lagfix. Let it do that and boot all the way up. It will take a while (5-10 minutes) because it's converting all partitions to ext4.
7) If you're on Froyo, you must now install a file explorer like Root Explorer from the Market and use it to delete the file /system/bin/recovery. You will need to hit the "Mount R/W" button in Root Explorer before it will let you delete it. I can't stress this enough... you MUST MUST MUST delete that file before continuing or else you will get boot loops!
8) Now install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.
9) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000".
10) Now go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest Infused V2 release, and hit the download button.
11) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select full.
12) Select the addons you wish to install and then wait for ROM Manager to download the ROM. There is a note at the bottom of this post about which addons are not compatible with each other.
13) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you MUST check "Wipe Data and Cache" unless you're coming from Infused V2 BETA 1.
14) Press OK. Your phone will reboot and automatically install the ROM. Just sit back and relax.
15) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
CWM Installation Instructions:
7) Download update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip and place it on your internal SD card.
8) Power off your phone.
9) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into RED CWM.
10) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select update-infused-v2.X.X-full.zip.
11) Once that finishes, select "wipe data/factory reset".
12) Select "reboot system now".
13) Do NOT restore system data with Titanium Backup. Do NOT restore ALL apps with data. If you absolutely must restore something with Titanium Backup, only restore MISSING apps with data.
How to manually install an update to Infused:
1) Make sure the vX.X.X portion of the update file name (update-infused-vX.X.X-vY.Y.Y-update.zip) matches the version of Infused you're currently running.
2) Download update-infused-vX.X.X-vY.Y.Y-update.zip and place it on your internal SD card.
3) Power off your phone.
4) With the phone powered off, hold both volume keys and the power button for about 10 seconds and then release. This should boot you into red CWM.
5) Select "install zip from sdcard" and select update-infused-vX.X.X-vY.Y.Y-update.zip.
6) Select "reboot system now".
Installing addons:
1) Install ROM Manager from the Market and open it.
2) Select "Flash ClockworkMod Recovery" and choose "Galaxy S i9000".
3) Now go to "Download ROM", select my section (gtg465x), select the latest Infused V2 release, and hit the download button.
4) At the "Installation Type" prompt, select "Addons only".
5) Select the addons you wish to install and then wait for ROM Manager to download them. There is a note at the bottom of this post about which addons are not compatible with each other.
6) When you get to the "ROM Pre-Installation" prompt, you can uncheck "Wipe Dalvik Cache" and press OK.
7) Your phone will reboot and automatically install the addons. Just sit back and relax.
Known issues:
-No HDMI support. It was not present in the Rogers base ROM.
----ROM----
update-infused-v2.2.3-full.zip (180MB)
update-infused-v2.2.2-v2.2.3-update.zip (9MB)
update-infused-v2.1.0-v2.2.3-update.zip (12MB)
----Kernels----
CWM-infused-v2.0.1-kernel.zip
----Addons----
-Enable AOSP lockscreen
-Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)
-Change overscroll from bounce to glow (Samsung blue)
-Disable all overscroll effects
-Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent
-Revert to the default Infused configuration
Note about addons: The only overscroll addon that is compatible with "Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent" is "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)", and for that to work you need to flash "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (AOSP yellow)" first. "Change overscroll from bounce to glow (Samsung blue)" and "Disable all overscroll effects" will not work with "Disable CM7 style battery w/ percent".
----Old versions----
update-infused-v2.2.1-full.zip

I am running 2.0.2 and my brother has an untouched stock phone. We are in Oklahoma, and we have done several dl speed tests. There is no difference at all between the two phones.

Kernel?
Does using the Infuse GB kernel 1.0 make a difference with what your testing for gtg.
is the infuse kernel you included any better/makes no difference or what?
upgrading to 2.0.4 later tonight. to see if it will fix the HSPA issue.

Kernel shouldn't make a difference for network speed testing. At least not in this case.
Just an FYI... v2.0.4 may be no better than v2.0.1. In fact, if it doesn't fix HSPA+, it could actually be worse if battery life degrades as well. There have been no real improvements since v2.0.1... just attempts to fix HSPA+. If you're happy with your network speeds on v2.0.1, I recommend staying there for now.

I am in oklahoma city and never got above 2Mbps ever on my infused with (2. 02). I have a grandfathered unlimited plan from my iPhone days. I read a thread on xda that said they might not have transitioned my plan correctly and gave the codes that I should have when i call. So I talked to About 5 different reps all of them told me I had to lose unlimited to get 4g speeds. Finally one of them switched my plan for me and when I got off the phone I rebooted the phone and got 5.55Mbps. I am curious what speeds you are seeing and if you came from an. IPhone or not.

Hi GTG.
First of all, I love your work.
I flashed the 2.4 ROM tonight. I am experiencing a problem. I cannot make calls with the ROM, I can with the other ROMs so the phone is fine. The call icon in the top bar remains there after I try to end the call. Hope this helps, if you need anything from me to help solve this let me know.
Thanks
Carl.

Same applies for v2.0.2 and v2.0.3. If you're happy with your network speeds, no reason to install v2.0.4 just yet. v2.0.4 is for those who haven't had great network speeds or working HSPA+ in previous versions. And it's a test version so I'm not guaranteeing it fixes HSPA+.
For future reference, please try to ask questions like this in the Q&A thread linked to in the first post.

Welcome to the "Energy" ROM collection thread !
This development thread is the home of my "EnergyROM" custom firmware series for the HTC Sensation device. Here you will find ROMs that I have created for this device over time. My main goal when putting a ROM together is stability. A second goal would be a good, professional look. I accomplish that by theming the original HTC ROMs and replacing the green with a dark, electric blue.
I build my ROMs with four main goals.
Stability through private beta testing before public release
Eye candy ( I want my ROM to look great and for it to all flow together nicely)
Speed !!!
Smoothness, consistency and good aesthetics
I preconfigure a lot of things in my ROM, because when I flash it on my phone, I want it ready to go. So, the ringtone, sms/email and other notifications to already be set. Doing it this way, makes for a nice ROM that's ready out of the box.
Now on to the good stuff...
(You can stay up to date on the status of my ROM development by "following" me on Twitter)
How to Flash this ROM:
- Root your device
- Install a custom recovery
- Install the downloaded ROM .zip found in post #3
- Make sure to do a Factory Reset / Wipe before installing ROM

The FAQ presented below is general to some common questions asked in this thread.
This is not my work, but I have put together the answers from various users. Thanks to everyone
Please also remember that this is a FAQ, NOT a guide, there are many guides here on XDA. I have tried to link relevant guides wherever possible.
Feel free to PM me if something else should be added.

Quickies
- For some of the operations below, e.g. Q23 etc, you will need a root explorer. A good one is ES File Explorer, included in the rom. You will need to check root access in settings and mount system for it to work.
- The first boot after flashing a rom takes longer (can take up to 10 mins as well). The boot takes longer also when you wipe dalvik cache.
- Incase you have missing widgets, wipe data and cache for HTC sense. Thanks to guptadh for the great advise.
- FOR ICS: If you are have sense FC, check to see if you have apps on teh SD card. Move them to phone. ICS doesn't seem to like apps on the SD card.
General rule of thumb before flashing:
- Unless specified, you don't need to Superwipe.
- However, before flashing, boot to recovery - wipe cache. Advanced - wipe dalvik. Now flash the new NRGZ Rom.
- Problems? Goto Settings - applications - HTC Sense - Wipe Data
- Still problems? Superwipe, as explained in FAQ 10.
Current Version - NRGZ June 24th - ICS!!! .Taketwo
(MD5 4355ae6ebe0b82006631135818513583)
- SuperWipe not necessary.
- Custom Kernel: Please use it at your own risk. More than likely you will face random issues. A dependable custom kernel for the Sense 3.5 is a WIP.
- Volume wake up Mod - Now included in Energy Tweaks!

Flashing ICS
Since the ICS ROM is coming up soon, it is highly recommended to read the following posts to get your self ready!
Do not do this till the ROM is ready and you are ready to flash the ICS rom
1. How to go about flashing ICS?
2. Known ICS Problems.
3. Going back to GB.
In my experience, if you are dead sure to go ahead with ICS, regardless certain bugs (assuming you are superCIDed - look at Step 4, post 1.)
1. Download the Firmware from 3.24.401.1 & 3.25.401.101 RUU from here. As per the post by viperd, you may not be able to revert back to GB if you flash FW 3.24.
2. Download the Energy ROM (when available).
3. Do a Nandroid backup of your current ROM.
4. Place Superwipe, ROM and the PG58 file on the SD Card. The PG58 file needs to be on the root folder of the SD card.
5. Boot into bootoloader and let it update, it will turn the screen off in between, don't worry, its updating.
NOTE: When the screen turns off during the firmware update that it is not finished updating yet. The screen will come back on and continue updating, so first wait for the message that the update was completed. Also check in bootloader that the hboot and radio were both updated. A few problems were the hboot is updated but not the radio and this will then cause a bootloop when flashing the rom. Hboot should read 1.27.1100 and radio 11.21.3504.13_2.
6. Once updated, remove the battery, pull out the SD card - stick it on to your laptop and delete the PG file from it.
7. Put the SD Card back on and boot into the bootloader (Vol down + power) and then to recovery.
8. Superwipe, Q10 below. (Do this only once, while coming from GB to ICS for the first time.. thereafter, only when NRGZ explicitily mentions)
9. Flash the rom.
10. Watch the phone as it boots .
Another simple tutorial by JaxChris.

F.A.Q
Q1: How do I flash this ROM?
A: Assuming you have S-Off, and have installed recovery – Reboot the phone into recovery (Vol Down + Power [In power off mode] and select recovery. Select “Install with Zip from SD Card” – Select the ROM from your SD and press power – Confirm and you are good to go.
Q2. Huh?? What is S-OFF or Recovery?
A: A detailed explanation on how to is here.
Q3: Which radio should I use?
A: This is a trick question. According to many users over the years, they have recommended to change the radio only if you are facing troubles with the current one that you are using. Radio is a very very very location specific thing. So, what works for me, may not work for you. Here is a good thread discussing radios ad their performance.
Q4: Is the radio included in the ROM? How do I flash?
A: No, you will need to flash the radio separately.
A: Easiest steps to flash a radio is (assuming you have sdk and HTC Drivers and are SOFF)
- Put the radio.img in the folder where fastboot is under sdk\tools
- Turn off your phone and and reboot into Bootloader and select fastboot, connect the phone to the pc - now you show see Fastboot USB on the phone.
- Goto command prompt on your pc. Goto the folder with Fastboot.
- Type fastboot flash radio radio.img and watch it write the new radio.
A: If the file is named PG58IMG.ZIP, then simply copy it to the root folder of the sd card and reboot into bootloader and follow instructions on the phone screen.
Read about radios and RILs here
Q5: Right or recommended order of flashing?
A: Wipe>ROM>Reboot> Radio.
Q6: Should I use a task killer on the ROM?
A: Check this and decide for yourself.
Q7: Backup? What is that?
A: A good idea is to back up all your data and settings from the phone before flashing a new rom with a full wipe. Best app available is Titanium Back up (included in the ROM)
The best way to back up the contacts is to sync it via HTC Sync or via your gmail.
Q8: Is Nandroid and Titanium backup the same thing? How do I manage backups?
A: No, Nandroid backs up the ROM and Titanium backs up the applications. Nandroid is what you do using the recovery and it makes the exact image of your ROM along with the data.
Q9: On what occasion will I lose my data (apps, contacts etc)?
A: Only when you apply the full wipe or the super wipe. When you just flash a rom or a .zip from recovery, it will not wipe anything unless otherwise mentioned. Generally, Android Chefs do not include the full wipe script in their ROMS.
Q10: I was on stock (or another rom from another cook) and I flashed NRGZ ROM, now I am having some problems.
A:
1. Try rebooting the Phone and see if it makes a difference.
2. Reboot into recovery and clear cache and dalvik, reboot the phone and clear data of the apps causing problem.
3. If nothing else works, “SUPERWIPE”. Beware: A superwipe/ full wipe will erase EVERYTHING on the phone. EVERYTHING! So, be sure to backup what you want.
Q11: How do I flash Superwipe and what does it erase?
A: Copy the .zip to the SD Card and flash it via recovery. DO NOT REBOOT once it is done, flash the ROM straightafter. Superwipe will erase data, cache, system, boot and system files on SD card (EXT4 format).
Q12: The screen is not very responsive and is lagging.
A: Let the phone settle down a bit after you unlock it. It generally needs a few seconds to kick up the CPU. Some discussions on the screen responsiveness and a market app here.
Q13: The market is not installing anything. Gives error.
A: Reboot into recovery and select “clear cache partition”. And under settings - applications - Manage applications - under the Market app < Clear Data>.
Q14: I don’t like the CRT on and off animations, what can I do to disable these?
A: Install the patch from the post above.
Q15: My battery is draining heavily
.
A: When you first flash a ROM this is what happens. Give it atleast one full charge cycle and it should come back to normal. If required, reboot into recovery and clear battery stats. It is advisable to do so on 100% charge. Here is the battery calibration app from the market.
Common Opinion - Heavy battery drain is one thing that you cannot complain about on this rom, for sure. The battery life is much above average
Q16: Should I run the phone battery to zero percent, and what if it does??
A: Absolutely not! Both the current recoveries are giving problems while pulling the battery up from zero percent. If the phones dies off due to battery being zero, look here, might help. The new recovery from ROM Manager claims to have fixed the charging issue.
Q18: MMS Problem?
A: Please check your APN settings. Or try the patch from here. Also worth checking out Shroomster's post.
Q19: Some games that use the motion/G sensor are not working as they should.
A: Re-Calibrate your Gsensor –> Settings – Display – Gsensor Callibration
Q21: What about Wifi Printing?
A: NRGZ released the APK's here.
Q22: I dont like the animations. Dont want them.
A: Go to settings - display - animations. Or go to Spare parts and disable all animations.
Q24: How do I change the bootanimation or the downanimation?
A: System\Customize\Resource again. Replace the bootanimation.zip file with the one you want. The new file must be named bootanimation.zip/downanimation.zip.
Q25: Can I modify frequencies using SetCPU?
A: Avoid set cpu at this stage. It is causing much troubles. The app needs to be updated for dual core usage.
Q26: GPS Problems?
A: Try faster fix app from the market. Has helped a few members.
Q27: I am having difficulties assigning ringtones from my SD card on the 3.5 sense.
A: Go to contact, select ringtone. Select ADD where it shows a list of system ringtone - Now it should take you to your music and tones on the SD card. Select the one that you want and click OK. Back on the system ringtones, scroll to find the newly added tone and select it.
Q28: The search capacitive button does nothing, only on press and hold I get menu to select from. I want the normal search action.
A: Download and install the Google Search from the market.
(Fixed in Oct 3 Rom)
Q29: WiFi turning on randomly, can't find "Install unknown sources checkbox", found a typo somewhere on a screen.
A: Use this ICS OTA patch that fixes those issues.

KNOWN ISSUES / NOTES
- First Boot Installer sometimes fails to complete (usually completes on reboot)
On first boot, unlock the screen and let it sit until
you see all the media scanning notifications stop -
this is because on first boot, there will be some
app installing going on for the apps included, will take about a minute.
If you're coming from a clean install, you will have to set
Swype as your text input in Settings > Locale and Text Settings to start using it.
File system (BML/MTD) SleeperROM will retain your existing EXT4 or YAFFS2(MTD) partition configuration,
but will convert RFS to EXT4 (journaled).
It will otherwise not do any conversion.

Installation
Boot into recovery: Three Finger Salute (Camera + Vol Down + Power)
OPTIONAL: Wipe all the things (Wipe Data/Factory Restore, then, "Mounts and Storage" > Format /system (be careful - DO NOT format your SD card)) - ! don't wipe if you're installing an Incremental update ¡
Install from Zip, Choose SleeperROMv2.x.xx-EL30-[Pkgversion].zip
Reboot. First boot may take up to 3 minutes while the dalvik cache is built for the first time.
If you don't have recovery/are on stock OTA EL30, Flash the BML/Odin ShadowKernel/CWM5 Root combination in Odin
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1465033
***CLEAN INSTALL
1. Backup with Titanium Backup, then a CWM Backup.
2. In CWM, go to "Mounts and Storage" > "Format /Data", just once will do.
3. To restore your basic data with Titanium Backup, avoid Batch Restore for system apps, choose the Green items one by one for the feature you want to restore then reboot. - I usually Sign In to my google account (open market, gmail, talk) then restore [CONTACTS/CALLS], [VOICEMAIL], [SMS/MMS/APN], [BOOKMARKS], and if i'm feeling daring and lazy [SETTINGS/BLUETOOTH..] - but this last one usually causes me FC grief. After a couple of reboots, you can batch restore all of your user apps.
ABOUT LOCKSCREEN MOD (or lack thereof) TSMParts may be integrated in the near future but NOT the lockscreen mod, as it goes against the philosophy of this rom in maintaining stock appearances (exception is scrolling status bar) while featuring the latest patches and mods which enhance usability and stability. The standalone lockscreen mod flashable is NOT compatible with this ROM.

Let me know how it goes, I did a lot of testing back and forth between RFS/EXT4 this time around but haven't done much with MTD, so if it worked before it should work now...
I just realized wifi may be broken on the MTD version, uploading the update now (10 minutes)
Sensei!!! Wooot. Downloading now to try out. Hey, I see it says MTD. How do we make it MTD? Is there a script or is it setup to do that automatically?

I would hold off on MTD for now. I'll make sure it's working. Right now giving me some fits.

Will do bbelos. Thanks.
Yea. I flashed the regular one and it's rebooting over and over on me after a minute or two. I'll just go back to stock for now or try reflashing Sensei
1. This does not install EL30 modem.
2. Mine reboots in a loop on startup.
Coming from Sleeper 1.1.02a I wiped all the partitions and installed the .zip. First time I was stuck on samsung screen. Wiped again, installed again. This time I was stuck at the galaxy S boot animation screen, it would keep looping. Installed .zip again without a wipe and Still stuck at the boot ani screen. I'm going to go back to a nanroid backup of 1.1.02a for now.
EDIT:
After restoring my nanroid back up of 1.1.02a I tried to install 2.0.01 over it with out wiping anything....and it worked!
That's the first time NOT wiping has fixed an issue I had when installing a rom?
Running good no problems so far! But I don't have a scrolling status bar anymore? Also sprint zone is on here, how can I remove that?

Not sure what in blazes is going on here but this method worked. I restored my backup, wiped NOTHING and flashed and good to go. My OCD made me go back and wipe dalvik and cache but it was running and is running just fine now.
I tried flashing from the EL30 Odin package. I went through the process of rooting and getting CWM 5.0.2.7. Before flashing SleeperROM I wiped cache and dalvik cache, it took a long time to boot (fully expected), but once it did boot it was just FC after FC and I had no status bar... I will try a clean install later but for now I went back to Stock EL30.
If anybody can see the flaw in what I did I would appreciate the insight.
Home/ search soft keys
I installed this ROM and now my home/ search soft keys vibrate but don't do anything.
Could this be something my last ROM screwed up or is anybody else having this issue?
**EDIT-
This was after having installed this ROM over MTD CyanogenMod.
I no longer have this issue with after a clean BML upgrade
I did not wipe i simply copied the Full version over installed from ZIP and it booted. I did have none stop FC with SWYPE but i uninstalled then reinstalled without any further complications.
It does still say i'm Base Version: S:D700.0.5S.EI22. Are we suppose to install the modem ourselves?

you on BML or MTD. Pretty sure for that modem delta update to work you need to be on BML.

Before installing this ROM, where you on BML or MTD?
If MTD, you can try these steps:
Download and install (through CWM): ShadowKernel-EL30-MTD-v3.0+OC/UV
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21830188
Download CWM-bml-sdcard-5.0.2.7-epic4g.zip:
http://epiccm.blogspot.com/2012/01/boot-cwm5-bml-from-sdcard-no-flash.html
Flash that, re-boot to the temporary recovery, then install the modem upgrade.
Well, I'm on MTD/Yaffs2 and my first attempt at flashing this resulted in boot loops at the ani screen. After wiping and reflashing 1.1.02a then flashing this over that without wiping, it worked without a hitch. ;-)

Common ICS leak bug: shutdown/Reboot "stick"
Fixes: try whatever you want
1. Pull battery after first boot
2. Superwipe before installing my superlite
3. After install take a nandriod backup and reload that backup.
3. Last Resort fix. Backup your Internal SDCARD data which is the /emmc to your computer via usb cable, boot to CWR, format /emmc, superwipe and reflash superlite. Again this is a last resort, and will delete all of your data. MAKE SURE YOU HAVE AN EXTERNAL SDCARD TO FLASH FROM.
Launcher bug Messenger shortcut "activity cannot be launched"
Fix:
Recreate the MMS shortcut!
No LTE at first boot
Fix:
Pull battery after first boot (or move to a LTE service area j/k)
My clock isnt set right to the right time
Fix:
Call your voicemail or call your cell# from a land line, time is updated over the air from your network provider
An APP Force closed after loading backups.
**Common if you load backups. #1 or #2 should fix it quick
Fixes:
1. Reboot to CWR >> Fix Permissions
2. Settings >> APPS>> Clear App data >> Uninstall app, Reinstall APP from market
3. Reinstall Superlite, dont load your apps data, just load the apps.
4. Dont load backups, just reinstall all your apps by hand from market.
Android Bug, Lock screen doesn't engage when screen times out.
Fix:

No I didnt do anything for it. Its random. Its some sort of first boot up cache/db.
If you have this trouble pulling the battery after first boot fixes it.
Does this come with romracers kernel already in there or do I need to flash it separate? I ask because I see a separate link for it

Let us know how it goes. I am also on Rogers and have been holding back on ICS thus far but the itch is getting intense

Repeat the installation instructions 3 * it should work
Installed over 'Working Rogers ICS' ROM, and it worked fine, home button still doesn't work, but screen lock and receiving calls work, so that's two steps forward. I then decided to go for broke and installed 15 toggle, ICS camera, romracer kernel, and agps fix. Something in there broke it, since I lost the background and notification area, I imagine it's the 15 toggle, so I am reflashing the ROM right now. My fault, I know, too ambitious.
Update: reflashed, home button works! Now I just need 15 toggle ICS theme to work, and I'll be running a perfect ROM for me.
everything is awesome except my market keeps FC-ing. any advice, should i just install another ics market over it?
I just keep getting boot loops. Installed it 3 times as per the instructions.
Update: Ok its booting now. i had to do a Dark super wipe. Then i followed the instructions and now its loading. Will report back if i see any other errors.
