[Q] Nexus s tv out help

Hi I bought any MHL Micro USB to HDMI Video for my nexus s,but when I plug in nothing coming up on tv the only thing I see is my phone screem turn to landscape.
.Does anyone know how can I connect it to tv? do I need a different Rom?
I have look on setting but noting.
Please any help
I believed most popular opinion is that ns lacks the necessary hardware to perform TV out.
You without me is like Harold Melvin without the Blue Notes...

Anyone know if the skyrocket has a video out setting?

Im trying to find out if there is a rom out there offering the ability to use video out through the usb connection to hook up to a television. I have NFL Sunday Ticket on my phone, but I want to watch it on the big screen at work. Any help would be great thanks.

you're looking for the MHL cable which provides HDMI out from your skyrocket.

MHL Cable Discussion Thread

I wanted to make this a discussion thread for MHL cables. Currently, I have a Rocketfish MHL Cable and I love it. It doesn't have to be plugged into the wall via micro usb for it to work, unlike my ONN brand cable.
Other things I would like everyone to discuss, is quality and content. I love the quality of picture that mine displays, pretty sure it's 1080p, but how about other brands?
Now for content. Has anyone been successful in getting a MHL Cable to work with protected material? For example, when I hook mine up and try to watch NFL Mobile, it says "HDMI Is Not Supported". Is there a Rom that will work? Maybe an App to download? Xposed Framework module?
Also, speaking of nfl games, has anyone been successful in getting a Super Nintendo emulator working with hdmi and two controllers for playing multiplayer games?
Basically, let's discuss anything and everything MHL for HTC One M8!!!
I never put much thought into MHL, but came to this topic hoping to learn something. I found your cable on Amazon, and a lot of people are saying it doesn't work. Others are saying it does, but with an adapter. Together, the two add up to the cost of a Chromecast (which I have no experience with), so, what does an MHL cable do that Chromecast doesn't, aside from charging your phone, of course.

I'm hoping to learn something too. I'm going to buy a chrome cast tonight. I did some searching on the web and found out that I can use my HTC One M8 to screen mirror or mirrorcast to my TV. Someone out their has created an App that enables mirroring with any rooted device. Link is here https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23578570567717826
The guys over at Wal-Mart were nice enough to let my play and connect a chrome cast up to my phone. After downloading the file, I was able to watch NFL Mobile Network and Stream Twitch to a TV without any problems. There was a slight lag from what the phone showed, but nothing terrible as the sound and video synced up perfectly on the tv I was testing it out on.
I'm glad I got those two apps to stream to a TV. Not sure if an MHL Cable is going to offer anything more than a chrome cast. I'll see if I can tell a difference in quality or lag input. Thanks for bringing up the chrome cast. I know the HTC One M8 mirror option isn't supported yet, but with the phone being rooted and the extra app enabled, I can now stream anything and everything from my phone to my TV.
I haven't had any experience at all with MHL but do have a few thoughts about it vs Chromecast. I come from a long list of Motorola phones which all came with a dedicated HDMI port. If MHL is the same thing as HDMI, Chromecast is the way to go. At least for me. Since getting the ability to mirror on Chromecast, I really can't think of any advantage of using HDMI. There's a couple of really good advantages for using Chromecast though. Assuming MHL works the same way HDMI does, using it doesn't allow you to do anything with your device while mirroring on the TV. If you do something on the phone, the TV displays it. Also, the screen on your device has to remain on all the time. If you happen to use/stream Netflix or Youtube or some such thing, the screen never shuts off. However, if you use Chromecast for those types of things (or other apps that support it) you can still use the phone to play a game, browse the web or whatever it is you want to do. It has no effect on the movie you're playing. A big plus is you can also turn the screen off while streaming a movie or whatever. If you turn the screen off while streaming a 2 hour movie while using Chromecast, the battery drain is next to nothing compared to HDMI (again, assuming MHL is the same). If you mirror with Chromecast, then things are pretty much the same. The ability to turn the screen off or browse the web, etc.while streaming media is a huge advantage for Chromecast. At least, the way I use my phone, it is for me.
I apologize if my post is somewhat off topic but I figured since Chromecast came into the conversation and I do have experience with HDMI, I'd put my two cents worth in. Just my thoughts on the subject.
FWIW, this cable works on my phone.

Best MHL for HTCOne M8
Hello , I just purchased an MHL cable for my phone and it only works intermittently. You mentioned the rocketfish. Is it reliable and doesn't cut out?

I use one with my video head unit in my vehicle. I can mirror anything on my phone to it. I also have a MirrorLink device. All just different ways to skin a cat.

1080P HDMI Output from S6

I've just found out my S6 doesn't support MHL I've tried MHL 2 and 3 adaptors and they don't work.
I don't have a Samsung smart tv and I don't have an allshare cast (which Samsung have discontinued)
How can I screen mirror please? Am i missing something?
Oh damn. I have to even tried my mhl
The manual just talks about 2015 Samsung TVs and doesn't say anything else I can see about tv-out.
I know they leave it off the s5 mini but on a flagship device?
I've spoken to Samsung, no MHL, no all share cast support. Basically their answer was buy a Samsung smart tv. Very poor show
I was able to mirror my screen to an amazon fire TV with a note 4, has that been taken out in the s6? Guess I should just try it huh
Please try it and let me know
You can cast a video or movie through video player. That's about it.
Other than thinking everyone who wants to screen mirror will buy a Samsung smart tv why would Samsung do this?
You said exactly why. But Chromecast is cheap and so many apps are supporting it these days, this is not an issue for me.
I can also confirm, doesnt work with samsungs own mhl cable, then i bought a microsofts miracast dongle, tries to connect but fails everytime, i think the only way to screen mirror with this thing is indeed to buy a samsung smart tv, but i went to best buy last night and the rep told me it doesnt work yet because the tvs need a firmware update, then i read it will work with upcoming K series tvs, asked a samsung rep when we will see them in the US and he said 2016, are u kidding me samsung? Im seriously considering returning this phone.
Samsung SideSync
SideSync lets me display my phone on my laptop which is connected to the TV. You can supposedly drag and drop files, but I haven't tried. I can rotate the display and control my S6 using my wireless mouse and keyboard. Fun playing a game on the big screen. You can even choose to keep the phone screen active in a side by side mode. Sound transmits so now I can play music over TV from phone. Not the perfect solution, but better than nothing. Still going to look into casting via other methods (xmbc or amazon fire tv stick).
I'm trying to get video out either via MHL or HDMI from my S6E to my Alpine x009 and no luck. My alpine just says device not supported. Chromecast needs wifi so I don't think I can get it to work....I was looking forward to being able to watch Uverse while I was sitting in my truck on a 9" screen. If anyone has any luck please let me know. I just bought a chromecast to see if I can mirror my S6 to it but haven't had time yet.
Wow.. I am completely shocked.
I finished installing kodi earlier with the plan of connecting my S6 to the tv in my room via MHL like Ive done on my previous Galaxy devices for years. I did not even notice the lack of MHL on the specs and not a single review I read before making the upgrade mentioned it either. I'm assuming this would be a hardware feature and not something a firmware update could enable so this is very very disappointing. I know people are saying that chromecast is the solution but in reality it's not, especially as KODI/XBMC won't ever officially support it and the work arounds to enable support are far from perfect. Guess I'll never be able to rely on just the one device like I hoped.. it's a shame.
The last few versions of chrome have been beta testing mirroring the screen is not perfect but may be of some help
Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
The biggest thing was being able to mirror without WiFi which I think is what the newest version allows. No mhl or usb video out is ridiculous for a device that is $700-$1000 in my opinion.

Did you ever figure out how to transmit video from a S6E to an X009? Fighting that battle myself right now.

[Q] Alternate method for MHL?

Hi All,
Since the great minds of Samsung have decided that MHL is 'Old Tech', does anyone have an alternate method for MHL?
I have tried the Samsung Allshare Wireless Hub and the Video is laggy and the Sound is real tinny. Plus if I want to share my screen away from home I have to pack up a device the size of my phone instead of my nice compact 'Old Tech' MHL Adapter. I'm going to end up keeping it as I don't seem to be able to find an alternate method for this issue, but I would prefer much better quality then what it seems to be capable of.
I tried a friends Chromcast but was not able to get the Plex App to work so no joy there. Those are the only two methods I have been able to try so far.
Does anyone have a viable option for this?
Thanks in advance,
-NJ
