Sorry for the over dramatic title, but it usually attracts in more views.
I'm from Canada, and was using a Lg Optimus 2x p999, which in the states is a tmobile G2x.
The first time i used nvflash, it went through, but the phone wouldn't boot clockworkmod. It just showed the stock android. I re-did it, and it began to work.
I installed cyanogenmod stable 7.10.1, then installed a nightly v.201. IT was in a boot loop, but clearing the cache fixed that. Next, i installed a bad theme that killed the phone (bootloop again). Finally, i reinstalled the nightly, then installed a theme from this site.
so, it had :
Cyanogenmod 7 nightly 201 for lg g2x,
colorized for most roms theme pack (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1121299)
I plugged the sucker in over nighty to charge. It was around ~34% charged when i plugged it in. Now, i get absolutely nothing from it. I tried to plug it without battery, with battery, boot into clockwork, but the phone doesn't respond at all! it's as if it died over night

Might sound dumb but your 100% it was charging? I plug it in sometimes and it is not charging until I move or wiggle it... maybe it just died by the battery. Plug it in leave it for about 10 minutes see if the battery logo comes up. 2nd plug it in to the computer does anything happen computer recognize the device any signs of life?

i'm sending mine to lg tomorrow. thursday night i fell asleep to some talk radio with phone plugged in. friday morning, alarm woke me up as usual. phone was plugged in all night. on my way to work, battery died.???? i plug in my car charger and get nothing from the phone. i then notice the micro usb port is extremely loose. i left it plugged in for an hour or so and it finally booted. i couldn't get the charging screen unless i had the plug just a certain way.
so maybe just leave it plugged in for an hour or so and see what happens.
this happened to me overnight

Just rooted my Sensation and everything went just fine. Achived root and all my root apps works. But:
Yesterday I got my Evo 3D battery and to give it the best start possible i turned the phone off (took out the battery and put it back in) to charge it overnight.
When I woke up this morning the phone wouldn't turn on and the led was blinking orange. Luckily I had my old battery so I could just pop that in to get the phone going. Tried to turn the phone completely off with this battery and this won't charge either. Charging will work just fine when the phone is turned on.
Looked over to the Evo 3D forum and there are several users experiencing the same problem.
Anyone got a solution?
Solution: Get the new Clockwork Recovery mod- v4.0.1.5
Same here. Kinda sucks! Hope a fix comes. do you have a link to the thread in the evo 3d section?
Same problem here, on a UK Vodafone Sensation with ENG S-OFF
my phone charge when off maybe somthing went wrong with you guys s-off
Mine charges when off as usual.
T-Mo S4G
Might be seeing the same thing on my S-off Bell Sensation when truly off (not just screen off or HTC fastboot off)...will need to do some more testing to see what is going on...
Samen here.
Phone is off, light goes orange and after 3 sec it starts flashing orange.

It only happens when the phone is truly off. Shut down in the menu doesn't turn the phone off, only hibernates it.

was nearly a trip into town to buy an universal charger.
I just flashed the RCMix3D Aztec ROM by capychimp and my Sensation charges while completely off
EDIT: OK, no it doesn't. An orange light showed up after I removed the battery and inserted the cable, but I looked down and it had gone off. No luck when I put the cable back in, either
Can anyone help as to how to get my phone to turn back on??? Same as everyone else...i get a blinking orange light but it wont turn on!!! Please help!!!

Try removing the battery then turning on as normal.
I too was having this issue. Turned my phone off last night and put it on the charger only to wake up to a phone with the flashing orange light. I pulled the battery 3 times to get it to work and still couldn't get the phone to turn on. Finally I plugged my phone into the charger and left it for about 15 minutes and the phone was then able to turn back on. For some reason the phone never charged last night and the battery was dead, which is why the orange light was blinking.
Edit: Just tried to turn phone off again and charge it and now it's blinking green/orange. Guess I'll just have to charge it while it's on from now on until this is figured out.
ordered one of these just in case so i won't have this worry in future.
universal phone battery charger.

I do not recommend to use "universal" chargers for lithium-ion, lithium polymer batteries.
This can significantly reduce their lifespan.
P.S.
Tmous Sensation, S-OFF (Rev).
Remove -> insert battery, charging working with phone off =\
well im experiencing the same thing when phone is completely off but i was also reading in the htc vo 3d thread that their having the same issue and one person flashed a different recovery img and confirmed that its now working so im guessing the recovery img on the sensation is the problem why it isnt working.
Mine won't charge while off. No biggie since I'm used to that with NAND on my HD2.
Does this mean you cannot charge the phone at all if the phone is off and the battery is completely drained?
I know some of you aren't going to believe this but all I did was plug an HDMI cable in and now it won't turn on. Plugged it into the tv, then the phone. Phone completely locked up and turned black. Was totally unresponsive. Waited a few minutes and yanked the battery. Now it's stuck in a boot loop. I get the motorola logo, virgin mobile logo, and then it restarts endlessly. I rather not return it because of all my personal info on it. Any ideas how to either fix it or wipe all my stuff from it?
...yeah I don't believe you. But what matters lol, I don't think there's anyway to restore your data. You can fix it by installing Clockworkmod and flashing an uploaded backup. Just search a little bit for it.

Yeah, I said that because I wouldn't have believed it either. I swear, I did nothing to it. Was working fine all day. Got an HDMI cable in the mail today. Plugged it in and infinite boot loop...

OMG! I'm back up and running. Here's what I did to fix it:
From start up hold Vol+, Vol-, Power. When you see the android let go of the buttons. Press home once (that's what confused me at first). This will bring up the menu. Vol+ moves up. Vol- moves down. Back arrow is to select. First I wiped cache partition with no luck. Next I chose "wipe data/factory reset". I have to reinstall everything but at least it works now.
I'm too lazy to look for it, but I saw a thread somewhere about 3 weeks ago about cheap hdmi cables toasting people's phones.
Glad to hear it's fixed! Did you try the cable again?
I bought a 15 foot cable from monoprice and it works fine for both mine and my wife's Triumph.

That's scary. You think you're saving yourself a few dollars buying a cheap wire and it ends up taking out a few hundred dollar device.
i definitely believe it. the hdmi mirroring works fine until i disconnect the cord from the phone. sometimes my phone's screen just remains black and won't respond to anything. only thing i can do is a battery pull. hopefully it isn't an issue with the hardware..
Nexus S - ICS 4.0.4 - rooted + ClockWorkMod + SuperUser
I have a big issue with my phone. The charging indicator, while my phone is turned off, doesn't stop progressing even when I have unhooked my phone from the wall-USB charger (From both sides I tested this). When I quick-press the power button to check the indicator, although the phone is totally disconnected from its charger, the charging indicator displays as if the phone is attached to a charger.
This happens only when the phone is turned off. When I turn on the phone, the ICS battery charging indicator works correctly.
And also the phone randomly reboots while it goes into sleep mode. This is so bad that I can't actually use the phone. It reboot every 1-2 minutes!
I have figure out this indicator malfunction is the reason for random reboots of the phone while in sleep mode (when no charger is attached to it)

UPDATE: ISSUE RESOLVED
I switched back to the stock Samsung wall charger ( bought a new charger) and bought a new battery.
The phone has not restarted in two weeks.
Try reflashing the kernel wiping cache and dalvik. If you haven't flashed a different kernel, try one out. They all react different from phone to phone but I have the best luck with Air Kernel.

So is this battery indicator showing while the phone is off related to the kernel? I tried to reflash a new ROM (ICS 4.0.3 and then upgrade to 4.0.4), wiped everything and the issue is still there.
Its a good place to start. Plus it wouldn't hurt at all flashing a better kernel than stock. If that doesn't take care of it, only other thing I can think of is returning it to completely stock (unroot and all) and see if the problem still persists. Then you know it could be some sort of hardware issue some how. But for now just make a nandroid of your current set up, find a kernel you want to run, clear cache and dalvik cache then flash your kernel.

Thanks. Where can I get these Kernels for Nexus S ICS?
If you have a GSM Nexus visit the Nexus S development forum. If you have the 4g variant, visit the Nexus S 4g development forum. You'll want to look for topics with [kernel] in the thread title. Matr1x and Air Kernel are few of the popular ones.

Exactly! this was the issue. I used some tissue and electronic board cleaning spray to dampen the tissue. Also, I raised the lower edge of the ubs port towards its top a little. After plugging in the charger and playing a little the Crazy charging indicator went away. No Reboots so far!
But why would this happen? I read somewhere that Galaxy Nexus is also infamous for this hardware bug. Is this normal? (My phone is 8 months old)
i think there may be a ics bug that the charge indicator is wonky, i have been to lazy to roll back to gb to see, it charges just doesn't always show on the battery icon but in stats it is charging

Cleaning it worked till last night I again turned the phone off the fully charged it using the wall charger (I am using a Nokia Charger with the same specification of the Stock charger).
Turning the phone on today, it started rebooting again. Now in 5 minute cycles while in sleep mode.
I plugged in the USB connector of the computer and plugged it out. The charging indicator went crazy again!
I really doubt I could count on this phone as a "phone" any more. This is so bad.
Same here, completely disassemble it and a little bit of cleaning and rising the pins.
So far (4h from now) no problems.
But im expecting it again, since the problem is hardware related, and all day im charging and using usb ...
nexus s random restart
Hi experiencing same problem from couple of weeks. phone show charging indicator even not connected to charger and random restart. some time battery drain like crazy even phone in completely shutdown state. I think some thing short in hardware end which eating battery power. phone is in stock with ics 4.0.4

Hy! I have a HTC Sensation that won't turn on. The phone is stock, was never rooted. It has 4.0.3 original update. So this happened like this: i had 1% battery left. The phone turned off. I turned the phone on, tried to make a call and the phone just died. I plug the charger and nothing. The orange light is off. I have tried everything, but the phone is dead. I have searched on google about this and it seems like a general problem but no one knows how to fix it. What do you think ?
Thank you and sorry for my bad english.

Hi,
Try taking out the sim card and the sd card.
Plug the phone into the wall ,and leave it for 5-6 hours.
This is normal
Just plug the phone back on the charger for about 30 minutes and the phone will come to life again.
Best of Luck

Anyway...I have read another post here and one dude was saying about "instant death syndrome" . Is that possible? I don't really belive that the phone can break just like that.
It hit into charge mode when the battery is detected again.just the battery out of juice,no big worries

Yes. It has happened before exactly like that... strange I know. I've had this happen to me but was able to fix it. Here is my story. I had about 60%battery left when I plugged it into the charger. When I went to check on phone it was completely dead!! I had no charging lights anything! I happened to have another battery so I popped in the other battery and the phone sprang back to life! Very strange because it was a new battery inside my phone! You might want to give a new battery a try and see if it helps. As for the "instant death" the guy was talking about, what happens is that certain batteries have a trigger that if ran down too low they shut down and only special chargers can bring them to life again. I've read this my self you can google it. Now if that has an effect on our phone, I don't know but I've read numerous stories like yours and now I'm afraid to run my battery completely down in fear it will do this to my device. I hope you get your device working again. Do try another battery, it worked in my case. Best wishes
The battery is only 3 months old. When I bought the phone (from someone, not new) the old battery was trash. The new one is original, just like the old one. Is the first time it does that, never had problems with the new battery. After the phone died, i've checked the battery and had verry little power. I've tooked the battery out of the phone and charge it enough to turn on the phone, but it did not. Now the phone is pluget in the wall, as suggested. The orange light is off. Is like the phone is bricked and I really can't understand why. I had a Samsung Galaxy i9000, run out of battery, but as soon as I connected the charger turned on. Same with Galaxy i9100.
Keep the phone plugged in for atleast 1 hour and see if it starts to charge...
If it doesn't, you might want to try an external battery charger like this one....

Hi,
I have the same issue, received the phone from china yesterday and will only charge when the phone is turned off.

Ive tried different usb cords and wall chargers all the same outcome.
Would it be a software issue?
and would flashing an updated rom fix issue?

So if the connector is disconnected it can still charge and get power?
Though if that is the case ill have to send it back to the supplier as it is 2 days old, which means $30 shipping and a month or so waiting for a replacement.

First before sending check that the drivers are properly installed.
Due to the connector, I let myself to recognize the PC as the connector goes from the load plate to the main board, this problem you happened to many people, after a fall of the phone will even have come to put paper below so as not to release more.
You can do the test pressing on the connector by removing the battery and putting the mobile on a towel to see if it connects, it does not remove it.
(sorry for my English i use google translate)

Sorry i dont understand the step with the towel.
The supplier got back to me saying the factory informed them it could be a back board issue? whatever that means?
I can return it or they can send out a new back board.
So not sure what to do?
Thinking about returning it and getting a full refund and trying another supplier?
Promblem is with charging iocean x7s! It can be charged only if it is turn off!!
Can I solve this problem?
