[Q] Someone help identify my strange exotic tablet? - General Questions and Answers

Ok, I'll just say it, I'm an idiot. I took a gamble and bought one of these cheap Chinese tablets, payed customs, got something not so great...
Wifi dropouts, no market (doesnt start downloading), GPS stuck in China... I read about it, but the solutions are a bit dark to me, I'm not really a n00b (I know my way around computers), but to you guys I probably am just a megan00b.
So lets just dive into my question, if you're still willing to help...
What is this tablet and what would be the appropriate approach to getting it to work with wifi, market and GPS?
[I tried pictures here with the tags, but I'm not allowed to post links yet. I tried them through uploads, but I'm not allowed anything big there, so I hope it all is still visible.]
I'm not allowed to post links, unfortunately, but it's the 10" epad 1ghz wifi tablet android gps webcam 4gb 512mb p/n 4589 one costing $150,88 at a store called Buyincoins.com. Some specs I got from the website:
10.2" TFT LCD Touch Screen
512MB Memory, 4GB NAND Flash
Built in 1.3MP Webcam
GPS Function
Built in Speaker and Microphone
Built in G-Sensor Gravity Inducer, Auto Horizontal Screen
Support USB Keyboard & Mouse
More than 100,000 application in Android Market
Features:
◦CPU: Zenithink ZT-180 1.0GHz.
◦Operating System: Google Android 2.1.
◦Memory: 512M RAM.
◦Storage Device:4GB NAND Flash, Support for 32GB memory expansion max.
◦Size: 10.2 inch TFT LCD Touch Screen.
◦Resolution: 1024 x 600 Pixels.
◦WIFI connection: Support, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi CERTIFIED network connection.
I cant seem to find a good guide about this thing (Dk1031?) through Google, and I'm afraid I'll brick (or tile, it doesn't really look like a brick) it if I start my usual routine of 'just do it'.
I already tried "SuperPad2 Flytouch3 Hybrid Tim Rom (rooted)" (again, no links, sorry), but the tablet doesn't start installing when powered on with the SD card (and the two files on it) is inserted. And I'm a bit afraid to try some more without consulting people with more knowledge on the matter.
The webshop offered me to refund the costs if I return the tablet to them, but that would be my last resort after asking you guys for advice. Many thanks for reading my post if you've come this far, I hope you can help me with this...

my 2 cents
i'm not sure what it is.
I'm thinking that if you bought an off brand and it doesn't work right out of the box, you should send it back.
Eat whatever loss.
If you want a decent tablet, get one of the newer acer or asus.
or go with the HP touchpad, CM has a 2.3 gingerbread and possible working on ics.
if budget is an issue, buy a used Viewsonic Gtab. It has tons of custom rom, nearly unbrickable due to previous dev support and has a decent running HC. there is a big support community on xda and slatedroid for it.

Well, this tablet is dead. It started burning this morning! Just lucky I had it in my hands and it wasnt somewhere unattended... Bought it at Buyuncoins, so please be careful when buying from them!

If you purchased it with a Visa, and they won't return it, you can dispute it with your credit card company and 95% of the time they'll refund the entire cost themselves.
If the company is in the US, and you contact them...keep documentation as to who you talked to, (dates/times/names/phone number) for dispute reasons.
Visa has a 60 day policy, so if you're coming close to that timeframe, you'll want to file a dispute with them ASAP. They will require you to return the item no matter if the company refunds the purchase price so that Visa will charge the merchant back the cost and credit your account.
(The wife is a Visa Ops manager at a Credit Union)...only way I know this. LOL
Good luck!
TSG

Bought with Paypal unforunately, don't know what they can do for me, I'm calling them tomorrow.
Just to make it clear, the tablet started burning a few days ago, so it's no longer working.

[Q] Viewsonic gtablet

I just got a Viewsonic gtablet from Sears today (was on sale $379.00),looks like it can be very powerful... but I am lost ,it needs some updates... no market ... Very fast on the net... no flash at all, wont play any youtubes
I hope someone know s something about this tablet , I cant find any help other than calling Viewsonics help number
this is the newest pad i ever seen
just saw this device today on engadget.. ive been looking for a phone/tablet but this baby is fast enough that I might just use my g1 for calls and use this for everything else.. I wonder if there is going to be any modding for this device? Wonder if we can get marketplace that would be nice.
I am very interested in this tablet as well. If someone could get the market working, it would probably be the best android tablet out there right now.
I'm probably going to call my local SEARS, tomorrow - I pre-ordered an Archos 101, but this thing might actually be better (and available quicker). It's a little pricier than I was looking to spend, but it's probably very fast.
@catttman,
also interested in the viewsonic. apparently sears sold out its preorders online. can you confirm if its running 2.2 and the ram? Hopefully the ram is 1GB. Take some pics of the device

2.2 yes.... ram 512 memory
fast.... missing the market and No flashplayer (yet)
The Viewsonic 10 inch Android powered G-Tablet will be available for purchase via Sears online and in-store beginning this Tuesday. The tablet features Android 2.2, Nvidia’s Tegra 2 chipset running at 1GHz, 512MB RAM, 16GB of internal flash memory, microSDHC expansion slot, 10-inch capacitive display and a front-facing camera for video calls via Wi-Fi.
Pricing is currently set at $379.99, but the online store incorrectly points to a listing for the ViewSonic ViewPad which is a similar tablet that includes dual-boot capability with Android and Windows 7.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aL1b109GB2c
Someone posted that video. It shows that we really need someone smarter than I to get on this thing. This thing needs stock android ASAP, or at least something that removes the overlay and gets the normal apps on it. I am thinking of getting one if my local sears has them and a good return policy. The key will be installing a hacked version of market on it. Or if possible just installing the market APK and editing the file that tricks it into thinking it's a nexus.
I also purchased one tonight and it is utter junk with this TapnTap UI loaded on it. I did manage to load Launcher Pro and this thing was FLYING! Lets get this project moving!
from that youtube video:
tap n tap UI looks decent. I'm worried about the wifi issue. looks like i'll stop by sears tomorrow and hopefully can pick one up.

That video doesnt really show how bad that UI is. I bought this thing cause i saw a review on it. The guy on the video said it had stock froyo...which would have been amazing. Also the LCD has some really bad viewing angles...
Hopefully Tuesday I'll be picking one up... Or at least trying to convince my wife that I need this. I'll just tell her how awesome Angry Birds will be on it...
We need some serious support for this. First 10" tegra 2 tablet in the US! Can't wait to see what it can do with XDA behind it.
Hi.
I remember the early hype saying it had a 3g sim card slot, does it?
Thanks

The guy that posted an unboxing on youtube mentioned it looked like it had a cutout for it, but there wasn't a slot and it was blocked in. Maybe it will outside the US.

Why do you guys make fun of these questions?
They obviously have a legitament question which you can be answerd. No need to answer in the way you did.
First of all, The Gtab, in essence is a Malata zpad. And the T2 version was offered with 1gig of ram... If you did some reaserch you can see this. It is a legitament question.
I never took apart a GTab so I have no idea if its possible.
As far as the hard drive, you could have mentioned to them that it uses a flash based memory and may not be upgradable.
Was that so hard?

Interesting
I'll take my gTablet apart later when I get home from work and let you know if the RAM is soldered onto the board or if you can swap it out. My guess is that it's soldered.
I've taken mine apart and it's not like a PC or netbook where you have SIMM slots to add / change RAM - it's a chip soldered onto the board.
With that in mind - it may not be impossible, but definitely not an easy task, imo.

SIMM slots, math co-processors and HS/Link. Ah, the good old days...
*facepalm*
First of all. 512MB of RAM, DIMM slots, etc... My head hurts.
Brief spark of flame... Onto the help.
In my brief stint at staples, I saw the release of the G Tablet. And VERY quickly saw its recall. Whether you are running the original or their "fixed" edition, common sense derives you should get out from under that thing and get a much better tablet (anything not made by ViewSonic would be a GREAT start).
Now, onto what I do know about upgrading Soldered RAM. In almost ALL cases pertaining to ram that is soldered to the motherboard, it is almost impossible to upgrade it in anyway. I say "almost" because there is one exception I know of to date.
The original Xbox (ohhhhh, i miss that big black brick!!!). It came stock with 64MB of internal RAM. Soldered to the board. But there were 4 extra "slots" to solder down additional RAM as long as it was RAM from the same generation board (as there were a total of 8 or 9 different editions of the xbox motherboard released) and it was done CAREFULLY.
I highly doubt that viewsonic had any need or want to allow for expandability in their horrible excuse for a tablet (seriously, I think the nook color is faster than that pile of garbage). So my general answer (thanks to process of elimination) is NO, it will not be possible.
Have a nice day!

I was talking to you. Now my original post may be a bit harsh, but I'm sick of hearing the complaints about Viewsonic's stock software. Everyone knows it sucks ass. That's why there's ROMs like Vegan-Tab. Try that out, see if it changes your mind about this tablet.

I bought one just to dabble around with since my HP laptop that I was using for web surfing died. tried the stock ROM, holy s***, what a pile. Put Vegan Tab on it and it is quite a nice tablet now. Of course I did my research, and decided that I don't need 1 GB RAM especially with the improved performance of the Vegan ROM. But, if I decide to go the internal GPS route, I might go for some RAM too while I'm in there if it is possible.
EDIT: Just noticed, I have been on here for almost a year, and this is my first post.

Hmmm. I was not talking about the software. I was talking about the sad excuse for original hardware. You might have gotten it AFTER the recall. But they RECALLED it for a reason. My store got 100 of them in at launch, and all of them got recalled within the following month. Why? The GPU's were built wrong. And I had a few customers flash custom ROMs and still had the same issues.
Thanks for the clarity, though. We were apparently talking about two different generations of tablets.
And either way. I hate everything Viewsonic makes. Spend another 50 bucks and get a better quality piece of hardware. I have never had anything but trouble with ANY of their products in the 7 years I have been in electronics retail.

I got one of the original units a month after it came out. When I got it, there were no issues whatsoever after flashing a custom ROM. It got sent back during one of my "dumbass wanna-be dev" moments (I tried to get Windows CE on it and flashed the wrong BCT)
My 2nd one had a busted screen
3rd a busted screen LED backlight
and now the 4th is on it's way out (it thinks it's charging all......the.....time)
All my units are before the recall.
(and Tapn'Tap is still one huge Pileo'**** )
Did not want to "Flame" you with my last response. But it seems that your history with the device is kind of shot. lol. There are just so many problems with the VS name, that I gave up on them YEARS ago when I first started selling Home Theater and Computer tech with their logos on it. *sigh*
And for the record, I have never used Tap'n'tap, unless it was on a demo unit (for the quick week we had them) in store at Staples! (lol)
AAAAAAAAAAAND... I am a n00b to ROM/Flashing/Etc... , but learn quick, and have absorbed A LOT just on the epic in the past two weeks since I got my phone (first smart phone ever). I really hope to step up and contribute to the community here and weigh in. This is one of those sites that will live for a VERY long time, unlike Xbox-HQ, which is the last site I was an administrator on.

Yeah, all these problems are starting to make me hate the G-Tablet
I wanted to blow up the tablet when I tried to use Tapn'Tap
And yes, this site will last a long time. At least I hope it does.
The memory as far as I can tell is in the FBGA package. Which means Fine Pitch Ball Grid Array. In otherwords you can't just get in there with a solding iron like a metcal, and a microscope and change it. It would require more expensive equipment to reflow the chip off and replace it with a 1 gb Ram package. What they use on the 1GB version is HYNIX H5PS1G83EFR-S6C.

[Q] Thinking of buying one of these

I love Android, and especially the community that every device has.
I currently have an Epic 4G Touch (Sprint's GSII) and I have never owned a tablet.
This Thanksgiving break I visited my cousins and lo behold, practically all of them had an iPad 2. It was a very convenient thing to have around, I never really saw a tablet as a useful item. But I see that tablets are really neat now, it's like a phone, but bigger and not as heavy and clunky as a laptop.
And with today's web based world, it's really convenient to have a tablet on your coffee table to just use when chatting with friends, family gatherings or just watching tv and you need to look up something on the web. Or a device to watch Netflix or Hulu on, but your phone's screen is just too small and it's weird to hold it. Blah blah, useful features could go on.
Anyways, I missed the BestBuy sale for $250 unfortunately, and Gamestop is sold out for $300. But on Craiglist, a lot of folks are selling them for $330 unopened because they are bastards and bought them during black friday to make a profit.
I know the Transformer Prime is coming out on 12/8 for $500 but I simply can't afford that. Do you guys think that the regular Transformer will drop down in Price after the Prime comes out?
So I am left with multiple dilemmas:
1. Buy brand new for $330 off craiglist
2. Wait for possible price drop
3. 3D monitor + nVidia 3D vision kit
4. Solid State Drive
When I look into Android products I look into the modding community for the device on XDA, and it looks like the Eee pad has the best one.
So, should I get one or no?
If you could provide me with a link to buy one for under $300, I will buy it without hesitation.
Thank you
I can't give you a link, but I will tell you that you will certainly love your Eee Pad. Keep looking. This week has a lot of good internet deals. You're bound to find something. Otherwise offer someone on craigslist around $315 and see if they bite. Even at $330, its still a great value.
Sent from my Transformer TF101 using xda premium
As an owner of a transformer I can personally say that it's a great device. It does everything for me (including the stuff you listed) and i'm not sure how much a performance boost the quad core will actually bring (to me i think the tegra 3 is an overkill in processor power).
I recall asus saying that when the transformer prime is released, the old transformer price will drop to 250 and 350 for the 16 and 32gb models (respectively). Don't quote me on this though.
However, if your interested in the dev/modding of the transformer you may be disappointed. I believe all the models you'll find in the stores today will have a locked kernel which means you can't root the device (until the xda dev's figure a way out)

In fact there's a one click root for all models in the dev section
New models can be rooted now. There is a link in the dev section somewhere. If you can wait untill the Prime comes out I will have 2 32gb for sale. Already rooted, with or without docks. If you buy a transformer retail you can always get a price adjustment if it does drop. Bestbuy extended their return policy for 60 days during christmas. Just an idea.

Save your money and go to Best Buy and price match it with Game Stop for $299. I just bought the wife one for Christmas.
There will be a lot of these for sale as people trade up to the Prime, however I would be very cautious of the Craig's list ones advertised as new in box. They are more likely to be used with the box. The same thing happened when the current transformer replaced the Viewsonic Gtab. Once the prime comes out, you should be able to get a good used TF for $250 or so with some acc.

No, as long as it's a current advertised price they should match it, in stock or not.

I just called the best buy in my town and they said it had to be in stock in the store in our town too. So no deal on that. Luckily I snagged one last night from bhphotovideo for 344. Hopefully they don't get too cheap any time soon. They are selling out almost everywhere though.

You should be able to find one for $300. I bought one (excellent condition, barely used) last week with dock for $350 and there seem to be a few at around 320 without dock. Wait a week or so, people who have it at 320+ will not end up selling them anyway and when the prime comes out they'll go in the 250-300 range pretty quickly.
Best buy models are tf101-x1 and everywhere else they are the original tf101-a1. Best buy did this to prevent price matching the device because Walmart and others sold the a1 model, good luck on price matching

Just to revisit the original question for a moment, the SSD purchase might be a compelling alternative. It depends how you use the PC you would be putting it in, but they can pretty dramatically speed up a lot of tasks. Disk I/O is quite often the bottle neck in modern systems, and going from a spinning platter and arm to no moving parts could have a dramatic effect. Again though it all depends on how powerful your system is (if it can take full advantage of the IO speed gains), and what types of tasks you use it for.
Of course the flip side of that is: you may end up using your PC a LOT less if you pick up a Transformer, Prime or original. I know I do. Between my blackberry (email, instant messaging) and transformer (web surfing, google reader for rss feeds, and occasional angry birds or similar simple gaming), I barely have to use my laptop any more.
I got mine during black friday at best buy too. I was hestitant at first and wasn't sure about the rooting because of it being a newer and different model but this tablet is amazing. I love the internet, FLASH!, the apps, and the widgets. I hooked up to my tv the other day to show my roomates and they were blown away. I already rooted mine too just need to overclock it. This is is my first tablet and android device. The camera isn't that great but I did not get it for the camera. I recommend the best buy way. Buy it now and when the prime comes out you can return it to best buy and get the prime.
If I play with the prime and it seems worth it I will probably do that. However, if you want a first generation one there will probably be lots of people selling them on here. Totally worth the black friday mess and being short for rent. Also, if you use your phone as a hot spot with it it's even more amazing. There are plenty of apps to enjoy even without wi-fi and spotify or rdio for music.
I atually do use my laptop less now. Only thing I dont like is the laggyness of the keyboard strokes on this site. I am hoping overclocking will solve it. Dolphin and stock are both fast but I like dolphin the best so far. I'm falling in love with the touch gestures. Made one just for XDA
There are a couple of ways to get it for $299. Call around to the local game stops and see if they have the transformer in stock. When you called best buy you gave too much information.

[Q] What to do with old phone?

Alright, I recently upgraded to a Samsung Galaxy S2 i9100T and was immensely impressed. I had the option of getting a Galaxy S3, but it looked abit ugly in my opinion
What's happened now, is that I have a spare Acer Liquid Metal that I use as a door-stopper and paperweight. I was wondering, is there anything cool that I can do with it apart from selling it?
It doesn't have too high specs, after all, I did get it for $128 AUD. The basic specs are the following:
-800Mhz Single Core Scorpion
-Adreno 205 GPU
-800x480 screen
On top of that, it's rooted and has t&l metal 2.3.6 with TechnoLover's kernel running on top of that.
Comment on what you think I'd be able to do with it, thanks
i will be sell it and change other one or bue a new phone
you can give those who need a phone or you can deal with it as a second hand
You can use it as an android Touch.

Try a website like gazelle.com
Or recycle it at a Staples or Best Buy
There are also a lot of devs that can use old phones as test platforms when developing apps. I'd recommend finding some projects you'd like to support and ask the dev if they'd like to have your old phone for testing on.
Consider converting it into an mobile audio player
I loaded up an old smartphone with mp3 files, including music and audiobooks, and paired it with a motorola roadster portable speaker (around $50-$70). I then dropped my satellite radio subscription, so now, when I'm out and about, I'm able to listen to just the music I want to hear, with no commercials, come-ons, or monthly fees - including data overage fees resulting from streaming content from the internet. I originally stopped using the smartphone because it was a lousy phone. Makes a very good in-car audio player, though.
sure you l get a buyer ..not one....................... more guys are rushing for an android cell......:good::laugh:
use it as a universal remote for a media centre
sent from the thing I stab with my finger when I've got two minutes
Sell it, or donation it to a project you will could use it , you could install linux on it and get a full pocket computer! (See my project in sig) or use it as some form of controller if you have devices that can use it (many smart devices etc support this)
Sell it would be best unless you wan to save it for a spare! The price shld fetch you some accessories or something for your current phone!

just sell it. simple solution
Sell it on ebay

you can give those who need a phone or sell in ebay
Root it, put an awesome rom on it, install all your apps and stuff you use regularly and keep it as a back up phone. You never know when yours will break or go missing, its ALWAYS a good idea to have a back up phone that already has all your stuff on it... Good rule of thumb would be to add any new apps and phone numbers to this phone once a month, just in case. You may need to run somewhere while flashing a new rom to your GSII, so you can just throw your sim in this phone and your good to go! So my vote says keep it as a backup.
I always keep a spare device or two, just in case something goes wrong in my primary device. Also, I can lent it to friends in need of a cellphone until they get a new.
i would sell it as well..

Lenovo IdeaPad A2109

I'm thinking about picking up one of these tablets.. any idea if they've been rooted? Any custom roms?
Thanks

Well I have one (in my signature), and there is no official root I know of. However, this device is very similar to Asus transformer infinity and also runs pics, which as an almost universal root tool somewhere (don't remember where to find it). I am hoping someone would be willing to test this on the a2109, as theres many things I wish for root with. As for roms, cwm will need to be made for this and, again, infinity pad may help. But in all honesty, this is so fast that I would be too concerned for roms. Theming would be nice though

A buy-it-now is on the auction site for $260, including shipping. Very slightly (obviously) used. I'm quite happy with mine.

Just bought one at Best Buy for 259.00 this thing is smooth and fast I'm impressed. The screen is its only down fall. Head on viewing is not that bad. Definitely worth the 259.00

I totally agree the speed and smooth, I actually went in to get the ASUS TF300F, but when I held it was just too heavy. There are a few cons such as the camera and the lack of pretty much any accessories. I'd read on another forum that a guy got the Galaxy 8.9 case M-EDGE case for it, so I got the 14.99 one and it fits, though it is pretty tight, and doesn't close completely. It's close enough that I don't worry about anything scratching the screen. Also the way it folds does allow you to use the camera with ease and none of the buttons are covered. I've spent 4 hours searching for a case made specifically for the tablet and not even the MFG has one yet. They do have a picture of a smart cover, but it's nowhere on the site or anywhere else.
I think the people that make non OEM products have bought into the reviews slamming the tablet so much that they didn't decide to make anything for it, which is pretty sad. It's an awesome tablet for people on a budget and doesn't like the garden wall of the KF, lack of additional memory of both the KF and Nexus, and IMHO the specs are awesome. The salesperson did a bench mark test in store and was totally shocked at the rankings it ranked well above all the big name tablets, so at 259 I was definitely sold.
Speaking of the screen, I've viewed it at every angle that I use and there was no problem. I've previously owned the Toshiba Thrive 10.1 and this baby blows it out the water with ease. I kept my KF because trade in went down to 35.00 from 75.00 within a week.
Maybe with people giving positive feedback, more retailers will carry products for it.

I've been posting reviews to every site I can think of, except Amazon. They still haven't gotten their **** together regarding the A2109 specs. Probably a campaign of FUD to sell their own products. Newegg, though, has very few reviews so far...
For those of you not on the Lenovo forums yet, there is now a dev ROM for the A2109. Right now we're at the point of having root, cwm, and a ROM free of bloatware and deodexed -- ready for some theming. Not like I've done any of the work -- by "we" I mean thanks to mcl we now have it.

Well, I took the Lenovo A2109 back to Best Buy today and swapped it for the ASUS TF300T 16GB for a 90.00 difference. They have the same specs under the hood based on a few quick searches on the web. Honestly I hated to do it, because I rather liked the A2109, but the screen kept doing these weird flashes. At first I thought it was something I was doing, but I googled it and it's a known issue. I decided that with the screen already being the only bad thing about the tab and then the flashing I'd just go with something else. Luckily BB had the 16GB ASUS in stock, since it wasn't there the last few times I checked.
There seems to be more support and accessories for the ASUS tab as well. I've not had the chance to test it yet because apparently you have to let it charge a couple of hours before you can use it. (Thought I'd have to make another trip to BB)
I'll update on my blog when I get some play time with it. Just before I took the A2109 back I ran AnTuTu and Vellamo tests on it for S&G and it ranked pretty high, so I want to see if the ASUS tab does the same thing.
I can't post any urls here as a new member, but there is a link to my blog on my profile. Just case anyone is interested.

$90 more? Ooooh... I'd ask for a refund and see how this turns out

Spec wise the Nook tab can't touch the ASUS or Lenovo. The only place it would be beat the Lenovo is the screen. Right now the ASUS is running stock JB and still out performing the Lenovo, which I bought for the specs in spite of the screen.

None of the work goes to me (I am just a noob) but I just thought I would share this link with you regarding this tablets develepment.

There is considerable development on the ROM front on the Lenovo official forums. I can't link either because I'm a n00b too, but with just a simple google search using the model name bought it up.

Just picked one of these up tonight -- primarily for the family (non-techie wife & 2nd grade daughter). We've used it for a little over an hour and I'm already noticing random screen flashes. So far they're not anywhere near annoying enough to think about taking it back, but I'm keeping an eye on it. So far very, very pleased!

Excellent! I have noticed the screen glitches myself, and they don't seem to become more frequent or serious over time, so I think what you see is what you will get. I suppose you notice them more when you are concentrating on it. Ordinarily a defect like this would drive me crazy, but for the price I'll overlook it!

The only forum so far is at Lenovo:

There are multiple devices in this forum, not just the A2109. There's a reasonably active group of users over there tho.

I just wanted to come back let you know that the ASUS TF300 is indeed awesome. Even though the two tablets share most of the same specs, the ASUS tab seems to just fly and I have to admit the screen alone was well worth the additional money.

Yeah? I'm jealous. Of course, at this point I'd be pre-ordering the Nexus 10 if I were willing to pay more than the $250 I shelled out for this guy. The one thing I would miss, tho, is the convenient size. I really like how easy it is to handle. The 10" on the Gtab were a little much for me. Rationalizations... But now I have an upgrade to look forward to -- after mcl & I get an overclocking kernel running

I've been thinking about the Nexus 7 inch since the 16 GB model dropped to 199 to replace my KF. I still think 7 inches is the sweet spot for a portable tablet, and I'd also love to have the "true" Android experience with out MFG tweaks, but that will be after the New Year and who knows what will be available then. They seem to be introducing the next big thing every week now.
