[Q] Mass Storage possible? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
I want to connect my transformer as a mass storage to my pc. I don't want to use mtp. Is there a way to mount the tf101(g) to a windows pc?
I know, that honeycomp normally don't support this mode.
Thanks for your help

no there isn't...of there were i may not have sold mine

I have not tried, since my PC can't provide enough charge while dismounted, I just skip it .
Using Samba File Sharing and Windows Explorer, and OpenSSH, I'm able to access stuff over WiFi, perfectly fine.

[Q] How to Push as mass storage device in PC?

Hello all
I bought a P6200 recently! but when I connect it to PC it doesn't mount as USB drive?
As well in settings menu I couldn't find it to set it to mass storage mode!(like my Xperia neo and other Android phones) even it doesn't have USB part
Would u help me ?
It's ridiculous that can't be done!
yup... it is ridiculous because it really cant be done...
That' s not true. After connecting my Tab Plus to PC, I got new wino opened with 2 drives. One is my MC and second Phone memory so I can copy whatever I want. Try in settings-application-development...
that is in MTP mode...
The reason is because of how the GTab 7+ uses internal/external memory.
It's impossible for Android to unmount the memory because it's constantly in use. This provides a lot of benefits for performance and application space.
However, the trade off is that unmounting the partition would cause android to crash. So you can't unmount it to let a PC mount the partition. The work around for this is Android hosting the partition as an MTP device and doing file changes by proxy for the PC.
Personally, I haven't found a situation where I needed to do something on the file system that MTP prevented me from doing. At least so far...
I too have had no problems so far transfering files using MTP but its very slow. So I've used a card reader to transfer files to the sdcard when I wanted to do a quick transfer of a larger amount of files such as mp3's.
Hard to mount the sd card as a drive for use with synctoy is one example of where mtp is inconvenient at best.

Mass Storange mode is no longer available since Android3/4 deives as there is no seperate internal SD card. All Android tabs connect with MTP mode.
I use SyncToy as well to backup the whole of /sdcard. But that's for the P1000, now I can't do the same on the P6200. All the other available options are either too slow or too cumbersome to use on a daily basis.

Has anyone tried the "Multi Mount SD-Card" app on this device? It mounts the SD card as USB mass storage without dismounting from the android system.
I found mine mounted them both only after i inserted a micro sd card into the device.

I have just installed Multi Mount SD-Card v2.12 and found that it is not compatible with the device. It's disappointing.
I would suggest setting up adb and using Android commander (it is a GUI for windows)

Connect with USB cable, open Windoz file explorer, drag/drop files. With Windoz it should work just like UMS, although it is now using MTP. Linux is a different story since libmtp has (had?) issues and is not yet transparent. ICS and JB no longer support USB Mass Storage file transfers and have moved to MTP going forward.
Hope that answers your question.

[Q] Can't copy files from PC to tablet

When I connect my tablet to my PC my only options are to connect as a media device or a camera, so I can't copy across .zip files which is really annoying.
How can I connect the tablet to the PC as a mass storage device?
I'm running the latest CM10 nightly.
Thanks!

Use media device and you can copy any file you want. A drive should appear representing your tablet.

[Q] Impossible connect P3100 and Macbook pro Snow leopard

Hi everyone!
i Have this problem: when i plug my p3100 to my Macbook pro with Mac Os X Snow Leopard the Tab says that is connected and to choose if i want it mounted as an archieve or as a camera. when i check camera i can import phoos from the internal device memory, but i i check archieve nothing happens, with my Galaxy S Plus GT-I9001 when i do so i see the internal and external sd-card as archieve and i can use them as a normal usb drive, but this won't hapen with the p3100. so i tried to install Android File Transfer but it says that is impossible to connectto the device to restart and try again.
I have tried with stock ICS stock JB OTA Update and now with PAC-rom, but it never works ((
i also tried adb! and with adb devices it is detected but if i try to transfer somthing to it via adb push it takes a lot of time and when the process ends i do not have any file on the tab!!!
Can someone help me to figure out how to do connect my tab to the computer and transfer files to it??
Yeah, macs don't support MTP, so the "media device" connection option isn't going to work out of the box. Dunno why Android File Transfer is erroring out though. At this point maybe the simplest solution is to get a MicroSD card and reader and transfer the files by moving the card between devices and using ES File Explorer to move them wherever they need to go.

thanks for the info! yeah i think that that is the only workaround because airdroid and similar are just too slow

P3110 cannot be used as mass storage in win7

A friend of mine got this P3110 running stock 4.1.1; a week of usage, she can copy files from her pc to the tab (mass storage), after a week or so, she can't used it as a mass storage device nor we can have it change thru dropdown change USB options (only MTP and camera are present no Mass Storage option). Question is how this can happen? Anyone has any idea what's going on? USB debugging is off. Installed proper drivers (KIES). But now, always asked for MTP drivers and when windows tried to install mtp drivers, not successful.

This device only offers mtp and ptp mode. Msc is not supported. Just read the manual

Well, can't find any option in settings on my stripped down JB with Custom Kernel as of now. But I think these are possible connection types:
MTP (Media Transfer Protocol): for Windows Media Player
PTP (Picture Transfer Protocol): to act like a connected camera
MSC (Mass Storage Connection): to act like connected USB drive
As far I remember the GT-P31xx only supports 1 + 2 - not 3. 1 + 2 have the disadvantage that Android Libraries must be updated before files are visible. My experience with this is not good. The manual (for ICS in German) mentions also 3.) but I cannot recall ever noticing it.
If you want to have fast copy actions, then use an external card reader to write to the sd card and then insert the card. This wirks for sure and is the fastest way.
Also check if the device connects well to another PC - problem may not be the device after all, but the PC.
