Anyone else run into phone shutting off with any rom except stock?

Random reboots can be in issue in some roms/devices/configuration. If reinstalling said ROM after a nice data wipe doesn't fix the issue I'd take it to the pertaining development forum where I'm sure you'll get better direction.

Today, I unrooted my G2x, and flashed it back to Stock FroYo. I have not had one single reboot since then. i'm going to re-root my phone to see if I've fixed the reboot issue.
this is not going to be good.

If you wanna reboot your phone, just use ADB using this command:
adb reboot
Good luck

Cm7 ftw.....
WTH is this thread about??? I know the stock LG build had some rebooting issues, and I know there were some HW rebooting issues with a few batches, but all custom 2.2 builds Ive tried have no reboot issues. CM7 has a sleep of death issue for some, but thats a known bug and a different issue entirely.
im on cm7, no reboots no shut offs and no "sleep of death".
i love it
Same here

I was running CM7 before too, but I was getting reboots on it aswell. Although it was less frequent, the problem was still there. I heard about poeople fixing the reboot issue, by rooting, and then unrooting.. Then rerooting of course.
Hey Everyone!
Running into a issue, I just cleared my CM7 rom and now trying to switch to Caty. (I need bluetooth in the car)
I cleared it with Odin, rooted, and have the newest Caty installed. Now the first time I'm booting up, I got passed the Samsung screen with the voice over installation and now it's been stuck on the moving graphics for the past half hour.
Does it really take this long to install or is something wrong?
Thanks in advanced!

You don't need to answer these questions. Just focus on your own threads. You can also report them to get the thread closed.

I have started to experience this problem recently after updating to 2.31 by running the ruu. Never had this problem before this version but not sure if it is the reason.
Basically it happened everyday without my notice. Sometimes I picked up the phone it just showed a notification saying phone had rebooted and there was an error report and asked if I wants to send HTC this report. See the picture pls. Then I went to see the battery status, normally there was a sudden drop of about 20% because of this error reboot.
Wondering if anyone else has this issue and also does op still experience this problem?
Thanks!

OK found this thread talking about this random reboot in general section. I thought this should be question... Anyway, should move to that thread looking for answers.

I was hoping anyone here could relate to the problem my brother and I are having with pretty much all AOSP ROMs. Every time we install an AOSP ROM after even completely wiping everything except ext SD, after about an hour of run time to smoothness of the ROM goes away. The pull down is all choppy as well as scrolling the home screens. A reboot fixes it temporarily for around a minute or so and it goes back. We did find one AOSP nightly from the 15th that remained smooth but that was it.
If anyone has any ideas what could be causing this I would be eternally thankful. We have searched up and down and can't believe no one else is complaining of this. This is happening on both of our devices where pretty much the only similarity is that we use TWRP and update it regularly.
Thanks again for any advice you can provide.

I've had this same exact problem. I believe you meant the AOKP build from the 15th as that was the one that has remained smooth (but had some other bugs) for me. Seems like nobody else is having this problem.

The reason people aren't complaining is because they haven't had that problem yet. The only thing I can tell you is when flashing ROMs make sure you completely wipe 2-3 times as for some reason with TWRP you have to do that to get some ROMs to work.

Thank you for the wonderful insight. But in all seriousness I wonder what is causing it for us.

please read my edited post. I will also add that when flashing ROMs the results are very random even with the most stable of ROMs.

Yes I wipe 3x and then use zips that wipe again.
then you guys might have to switch CWM recovery as I flashed most of the AOSP ROMs with no problems.

You really don't have any stuttering whatsoever with AOSP roms? Hmm.
I would think though if it was TWRP wouldn't a lot more people be having this problem? I will try CWM though.
Just wanted to update the thread. We have tried switching recoveries to CWM, also tried running the rom with absolutely nothing but Gapps. Same result after a few hours. This is on two completely separate devices, we can't be the only ones. Any additional advice would be really appreciated. This is driving us crazy!
I get pretty bad lag on carbon rom, flashing with CWM. Any other aosp rom runs fine but carbon seems to not like my phone
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda premium
Carbon was the worst so far for me as well.
That goes with the fact not everyone will have the same results when flashing ROMs.
Could someone please take a look at these kmesg for me? I just clean flashed the latest version of paranoid android and ktoonz kernel, and now I'm having constant hot reboots every few hours. I'm not sure why I'm having this problem after a clean flash, because the dirty flash i came from had no issues. I'm using the same files i downloaded originally. only reason I reflashed is because certain things stopped working correctly like full screen pie. Any help would be appreciated. I've had to flash this 3 times already and each time its something different that happens. Plus for whatever reason my nandroid won't restore correctly. I'm almost at a loss here, i havent had any issues with this phone since ive gotten it and i love it, i just need to figure out this hot reboot issue and I would be back in business.
Thank you
