Ntelos MMS Fix For Rooted Heros

I have found the secret to getting the HTC Hero to send and recieve MMS on nTelos's network for all you impatient customers who have already rooted your nTelos Hero.
All you really need to do this is the android SDK you used to root your hero.
I will post the instructions as soon as the mods lift my lock that prevents me from posting outside links. I have no outside links to post but it sure seems to think the MMSC server for ntelos is a link. LOL

I can confirm that this does work on nTelos Hero both ways !! Great job kujars

All you really need to do this is the android SDK you used to root your hero.
First start off by enabling usb debug mode by going to settings, applications, development, and checking USB Debugging
Edit: Then open a command prompt. I almost forgot that part.
Then we plug the phone into the pc.
Assuming your sdk is at "C:\android-sdk" without quotes.
cd C:\android-sdk\tools
adb shell
cd /data/data/com*telephony/databases
sqlite3 telephony.db
update carriers set mmsc='http://mms.ntelospcs.net/?X-MDN=YOUR11DIGITNUMBER' where name='Production';

Good job man. I figured this one out a while ago. If I recall in darchlegnd he put in a config file that will do it for you.

Hmm...It's the first i've heard if it. I'd be interested to see the file to make my job easier when i have to do it for other family members who have the hero.

To be able to post links you need 25 posts or more. There's nothing the mods can do about it.

[Q] R.Java Not updating

Hello all
I'm new to the forums. And really dont know whether i'm posting in the correct section. So correct me if i'm mistaken.
I'm having an issue that i've failed to resolve. I'm trying to develop an alarm clock. But the R.Java file doenst update itslef. Only the drawables get added to it but everything else isn't updated eg the string resources.
I've tried making the project again and den copying all the files to it but that hasn't really worked several times now!
Please help me out of this

Yes sir. I'm using eclipse with the ADT Plugin for the development.

And now after all the fuss i've 10 posts and still cant post out there in he largere pond

[solved] cannot find uberkernel 3.0.2-36

I realized last night that I can't mount network shares from my NAS because i'm still using v22 but preware doesn't offer me to update uberkernel to v36 which has support for cifs, which is the issue.
can someone point a link or can help figuring out why I'm not getting the update?
ps: pls move if this thread belongs somewhere else
pps: I'm at work and I don't have my TP with me
Edit: Somebody who had the same problem posted the answer on the precentral forum
EDIT: Nevermind, I just realized that the version of uberKernel I'm using is straight from default Preware and not from the testing repository. I didn't realize I wasn't on Uberkernel-36. Updating fixed it. If anyone else is having the same problem, you probably fell for the same trap as me - assuming the latest Uberkernel is installed by default in Preware. It's not - it's in a testing package.

[ROM]WhiteTigerDK Goophone Y5 MOD v2.0

Hi all..
I'm currently starting this thread with a version 2.0 of my ROM..
Version 1.0 was found in other thread here on the XDA.
Please follow these simple rules:
1) I will NOT tell you how to install this ROM..
2) I will not support you unless your mail/xda-username is registered on download page.
3) I will not support any use of apps not in default ROM.
4) I'm not a app-builder so please do not ask me to change functions in apps.
5) Read the ENTIRE thread before posting your question. Others most likely have asked the same question alread - and you WILL find the answer!
- If you still ask a question that has already been answered - your post will be ignored.
6) Others who might answer questions - please also keep rule 5 in mind!
7) Remember - I use my spare time on this project.. I have 3 little kids - so be patient..

I cant wait to see on what you will both be working on... If your are hopefully working on something... Anyways good luck and btw you made a good rom with alot of english and no chinese I think I will try someday to port this rom to the gooapple v5 3g just need to find the right way to do it.

Problems with Desire S after Android 4.0 update

Hello!
Sorry, first asked my questions in the wrong Section. I didn´t found real answers in the Q/A Section, so i just re-ask:
I updated my HTC Desire S with the following update from HTC Dev:
Desire S HTC WWE RUU N/A v4.0 404.0 MB 14.01.401.2
Update went fine so far. Or is the update above the wrong update for my german Desire S?
But the Device has some problems for now. I Installed whatsapp and when i follow links i geht per whatsapp the app crashed and i get an error message.
Any idea for that?
And another Question to the Browser:
When i start the browser he first loads the last site i visited bevor i quit the browser. But in the settings i set google as startpage.
Even if hard kill the browser with the task manager it reloads the last page i visited instead of the startpage.
Any ideas on that?
How can i completly wipe the device?

Also there are no answeres in the sticky threads in the general area.
So, is this update the right for my german desires s:

And should i wipe the device after flashing because of my whatsapp bug?

For the WhatsApp 'Bug' - read this thread as it is not a bug, more a 'feature'

If i start an Link out of an whatsapp message i got the error, and the app gets killed.
in your link is the following information:
The app associations bug (not changing the app links in the appropriate menu) has a simple workaround. Go to Settings->Apps->All-> look for the app that is currently linked as the default one and select it-> scroll down and hit clear defaults. Now you can set a new link in the Apps associations menu.

But when i go to whatsapp i cant use the button clea defaults. And when i clear the defauls of my browser, it also doesnt help me with my problem!

You found a solution yet without a "Custom Rom"? If there is a solution to this Whatsapp thing it isn't clear in the threads.
Why can't people post exactly where the solution is?

htcdev.com apparently have a guide to (root) unclock the bootloader... There isn't an option for Desire S so you'll have to dig deeper for that answer...

Because XDA is supposed to be a Mobile Development Forum - simply telling people the answers doesn't help them to understand anything and then when it goes wrong they are stranded and panic.
