[Q] took the ota - Verizon Droid Charge

hi everyone new to the site and to rooting . now that i have took the ota can i still root and get rid of the blaotware .thanks

Yes. Install one of the GB kernels. I personally recommend imoseyon's repacked kernel.
For debloating, you can use Titanium Backup to freeze unwanted apps.

[Q] How to root Cappy with official Gingerbread?

I upgraded my 2.2 rooted Cappy to 2.3.5 using Samsung Mini Kies everything worked perfect and now I want to root my phone again, any help with this?
P.D.: I dont want to flash any custom kernels or any custom anything as I saw on another thread, I just want to re-root my phone.
Sorry friend but you're going to have to have to flash a new kernel to allow you to root.

[Q] What can be removed

Sorry if this has been covered but I did a search and didn't find anything, but then it could just be my lousy search skills. I had to rebuild my Charge using IMNUTS GREAT recovery method, (THANKS IMNUTS you saved my sanity) now I am starting with the stock ROM and is there a list of applications I can safely remove with TB. DOn't want to remove somthing I shouldn't and break it. Also one last question I was not able to succesfully restore from a backup I did in CWM. Is there a trick to making and restoring reliable backups using CWM?
Thanks For your help & Understanding with my stupid questions

Check the thread "can't believe I'm saying this" in the general section. There is a recent post there that has nearly everything that can be frozen.

rooting 4.0.4 and other questions

Greetings
I'm new to this and I'm trying to root my skyrocket in order to uninstall some apps from my phone like NFS and other at&t apps and I read in order to do that I need to root my phone. I read some tutorials about how to root my phone but they are for version 2.3.6 and I'm running version 4.0.4 . So my question is can I use the same files or is there one for the version I have. And my other question is how I uninstall the apps I don't want after rooting. And I also saw something called super user which u can download after rooting from the market app. Can someone please tell me what is the use for that. Thanks in advance for your help.

Thanks for the reply. I went through this sticky before but it did not answer my questions. I'm trying to find out what us the best method to root my galaxy skyrocket for version 4.0.4. Not 2.3.6. Now if that doesn't matter please confirm. Also I didn't see on the link you put where it tells you how to delete the apps after rooting.
Thanks in advance for real help
There really is no best sense it is. Subjective plus rooting for 2.3.6 works the same. As for deleting apps i use titanium backup though u might want to freeze apps instead of deleting them. Just my opinion on that though

So you are saying I can use the same usb software and zip file to root my phone. Just want to make sure that what you meant. I tried to search for root 4.0.4 but didn't find any straight forward toturial.
And thanks for the tip regarding titanium.
If ur using odin yes there are other methods but they should still translate over. My advice before u try it look on youtube for step by step instructions (just search for how to root skyrocket) also use google search there are some nice websites out there for our phone plus google search picks up xda better than there own search does. If you don't want to brick your phone do as much reading and watching how to videos as u can. I read as much as i could for about a week before i rooted but i was also looking at roms

The sticky IS straightforward! All you do is flash cwm in Odin, and then flash the su files in cwm. Titanium backup is used for uninstalling bloat as well as backing up apps+data for when you switch roms. In ics you can freeze apps without root so TiBu (titanium backup) isn't as necessary for uninstalling bloat as it used to. Also, most custom roms are very debloated any way. Upon rooting superuser will automattically be an app on your phone. SuperSu is used to replace it in some roms (some prefer it). Read, Read, oh and btw READ! The sticky was created to prevent meaningless threads such as this. Some take the time, read it and if they actually have real questions then they ask. You are not one of those people.
I wasn't going to answer any of your questions and simply flame you, but I thought I would be nice this time and answer your questions. The long weekend saved you

[Q] un-root Verizon Galaxy S III SCH-I535

So I was a little disappointed to learn that the JB update won't work on a rooted device. I didn;t use Odin to do it - I used a link on Droid Life. It worked fine, but now I would like to un-root it so I can get the update. I've looked around and found a few links - many of which involve downloading files that no longer exist. And I don't think the method I used to root it backed up the original ROM.
Anyone have any idea where to look?
Mahalo,

Yes the jb update can be rooted and you can simply use ota root keeper, take the update and be good.

There have been many reports of the update working on rooted devices. You can even keep your root using OTA root keeper.
The only thing you'll have to do is have stock recovery flashed and you should be good to go.

ROM Jumping

Hello I recently picked up a Verizon S3. New to the phone but not to android world, I am looking to see how you guys jump between ROMs? Do u flash back to stock? Or just flash with a data wipe and factory restore? Also is there any way to flash back to stock image minus the recovery without a PC?
Thanks everyone and I did try searching couldn't find much on this at all
Sent from the mobile world!!
if youre asking this, you need to do more reading and research.
I use titanium backup to restore my apps. others use different apps.
I do not care about apps I am asking if there is an issue with going from one ROM to another without going back to stock. I know some bases or mods sometimes conflict with each other

You don't need to go back to stock with Samsung devices. After installing a custom recovery, you just need to wipe the device and flash the custom ROM and you're good to go.
You should look into an app called MobileOdin if you want to flash back to stock without a PC.
