[Q] CyanogenMod 7.10

I am sorry if I have Posted in the wrong Section... I have HTC Desire GSM , ROOTED and have Cyanogen 7.10 as OS. I am very Pleased with this ROM ,but I wondered will future Updates of this ROM be available for this Phone ???? or will I have to get a more up to Date Phone ??.Will Ice Cream Sandwich be the next big Update to Android OS
CM7 is still showing updates on the changelog, so most likely will be another update. However, there were a few things that came up with the CM7 team that kind of slowed the process down. The daily updates to the nightlies stopped about 2 weeks ago. Not sure about your second question, as to what the name of next major Android OS will be called.
For the last months CM was updated on a regular basis with the newest versions of Android. So, for the future I'm sure if your device will meet the requirements for the update CyanogenMod will provide it.

MIUI Users: Back to 1.12.30

I know many of us MIUI users have been having trouble with some of the bugs in the most recent MIUI release (2.1.20). I know the devs are busy working on ICS for MIUI, so a few bugs for these gingerbread releases is understandable.
If you're having problems also, then go ahead and flash back to 1.12.30. Since going back, all of my problems have been fixed!
I'm planning on sticking with this version until a more stable MIUI or MIUI ICS is released.
Hi Rod,
I have MIUI 2.1.20 and don't have so much problems with this yet.
Which big bugs/troubles you mean exactly.
yes.. even i am not having much issues with 2.1.20
oh no wonder I experience weirdness in my rom MIUI,
on the home screen can not portrait mode,
if so I'm flashing back just
Sorry for the delay guys. I think this is only an issue with the HTC Sensation as far as I can tell, but the Mod moved this thread to the general forum.
The problem was more or less a newbie mistake. I had flashed the leaked updated firmware 3.24 for my HTC Sensation, so I could flash a few different ICS roms. I found that the only MIUI rom that worked for me without any FC's or random reboots was the MIUI rom from 12-30.
I finally decided to flash the old official 1.17 firmware for the HTC Sensation. I found that after I did this the 2-1-20 MIUI rom worked flawlessly!
Again, just a basic newbie mistake.

Hmm...so I was right. It can be ported.
Jelly Bean ported to HTC One X http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1737736
I hope so.
I'm not a Developer, but I hope so :good:
nothing will be done until the source code is released (google said mid july)
Guys, chill. It is best we wait until ics is fully developed with the kernel 3.x before we talk about this. I am sure that this needs ICS as base. I have been researching about this jellybean update the whole day. it is somewhat a small update to the ICS with automatic widget resizing, GoogleVoice (commandable just like siri) and also less lag... this is just like a froyo to gingerbread update as they said in vid reviews.
now our future is on the 3.X kernel:good:
Hi
Did anyone noticed that kernel for jelly bean port on HTC one x.
It is 2.6.xxx

No, but I am
Thread moved and cleaned. Development section is only for roms/kernels, etc. being worked on with some kind of bootable image. This is not. (First hint was the title ends in a question mark)
Keep it polite guys.

Thanks Jay
And apologies for posting in wrong section. Everyday we learn something new
Thanks !
Maybe...
I'm not a developer and i don't know how to port a ROM. However, I think porting an I9000 Jellybean Rom will be easier since I9000 and I9003 has similar specs.

i9003 will follow, once kernel 3.0 + ics is completely ported and good for day-to-day basis ^^
Everytime it happens that when we work on perticular version of cynogenmod then suddenly new version of galaxy device releases or new version of android releases then current development looks old to us. So we leave it in incomplete stage & we move forward to achieve new things of new cynogenmod but again everytime same story repeats & thats why we have so many incomplete cyanogenmod roms.
I want to suggest that if the developers are working on ICS cm9 then they must work on first to achieve kernel 3.0 & get stable cm9. People now should not rush to achieve JB leaving behing cm9 work incomplete. "One time one task"

Source code of jelly bean is of no use for us until we get kernel 3.0. Because building jelly bean rom or cm10 based on 2.x kernel is again a waste of time & again one more incomplete rom

You're right on that one bro.
Regarding porting Jelly Bean, it's another challenge for our great developers. And it is possible since it has already started coming on many devices. Another point is that JB does not introduce System level changes like ICS but a major update over it. So JB should easier than ICS.
Regarding Incomplete ROMs, each and every developer has his own set of skills and can't do what other can do and we must respect this. What dhiru can do is not necessarily doable by others too. But this should not come as deterrent for some quality work like MIUI and AOKP. If we would have kept waiting for 'Perfect and Complete' ICS then we would never have these great ROMs. These guys are working within known limitations and doing a great job. So i would always encourage new challenges, innovations, ideas, development and ROMs. We again might have many things not working on JB Ports but that's what fuel the developers to take up challenge and win it. Remember the first ICS and MIUI Ports ? And look today Thankfully Lolation, Frank, UT36104, Vurrut did not get discouraged by current limitations and went on to port these great ROMs and fix bugs. Thank You guys
Take every new thing as a challenge and give your best with whatever you have in hand instead of crying of what's not there or what will come someday
Good Day guys

I completely agree. People learn by doing hands on, and what I mean is building roms. Discouraging them just because you want them to complete a rom is very selfish, everybody has to start somewhere. Not everybody has sufficient knowledge in android programming to help with completing roms, i believe people feel a sense of accomplishment after building their first rom, only to be struck down by others that want a complete rom. I just want to say guys, don't discourage new roms please, think about other people's feelings. Thanks.
Cheers

Its not about discouraging new rom development. Its about how well we concentrate on each thing to complete it. I am not saying that we should stuck to only one perticular rom development. But remember guys that google will not take a pause for us so that we can complete current cynogenmod rom. New versions of android will contineously come out by google but we must have to think whether we should run behind new roms or should we first build a base kernel 3.x without which every future development will remain incomplete...???

Sense-based JB ROMs waiting for official HTC release?

Hi Guys,
I hope this isn't too noob a question to ask but is it a fair assumption that once HTC release the offical JB update, the modders on here who've so far released sense-based ICS roms will be able to do the same for JB?
I'm very tempted to give CM10 a daily drive but know I'll miss some of the sense bits (I know - the shame) - particularly the camera which I know is a topic done to death on here. So I'm just wondering if its purely the official release that must appear as opposed to people taking it on themselves to try integrating the framework with the base AOSP stuff?
Cheers
We need a test or official RUU from HTC that's it or just wait for the release, yes

LY-F1 'Official' JB imminent!

Ok, I know this isnt strictly a development post but its worthy news indeed, and I appologise if this is already mentioned elsewhere - I could only find threads about ICS or Cyanogenmod10 for this tablet.
I have an LY-F1 that I bought from Amazon and in case anyone isnt aware, the makers have a fairly good development team and have released several very good pre-rooted roms already.
The main download page is not english but can be found here: http://www.lyxfsz.com/cn/downs.htm?sortid=0_14 There is an english version, but it has out of date downloads.
I braved the language barrier and emailed their developer to ask if 4.1 Jellybean is being released for the LY-F1. I got the response: (after a google translation)
"Hello! We are currently adapter 4.11 well, I will as soon as possible on the official website go. Enjoy the wait. Thank you"
So, although there isnt a date mentioned, they are working on and will be releasing JB 4.11 for the LY-F1. Given it uses Livesuit, it will re-partition automatically - which I know is an issue for some users.
Looks like there's an update to our rom. New version of 4.0.4 is 1.0.5, a fix that brings more stability, fluency and fixes wifi thetering.
We should definitelly check it out.
I know my OP said JB was imminent back in Oct, but looks like they have finally got round to releasing it.
http://www.lyxfsz.com/cn/downs.htm?sortid=0_14 (Chrome will auto translate)
I have not tried or tested this release as I drowned my LY-F1 last week with spilt tea and it is dead. My new tablet is a tegra3 unit.
Very good firmware, indeed
Thanks to your post I managed to revive a Hamlet "Exagerate XZP700" tablet, which I discovered to be an exact clone of the LY-F1.
I am now on a 4.0.4 ICS rom, and I am more than proud of it.
Unfortunately, the ROM you mention is for the A10 chipset, while mine is an A13. Livesuit won't let me flash that update, and I am grateful of that, knowing how painful is getting off a bricked device.
Do you, by any chance, know if a 4.1 JB rom is being released for the A13?
I own a samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7" as well, and the improvement in performance I got passing from ICS to JB was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!
