Accessories - Samsung Galaxy Tab Plus

This is just a placeholder for accessories

charging/usb connector the same?
does anyone know if the 7.0+ is compatible with original gtab cords and maybe even dock connectors for that matter??
I hear the cases will fit but will be a "little" loose.

I'm curious if the screen protectors are the same or not?

should be close enough, you can always trim it. I have seen screen protectors and anti-glare advertised for 7.0+ on amazon.

me either, I already ordered one, so I will wait and see. and I just got a skinomi skin for protection from scratches, etc. many cables were advertised as working with 7,8.9,10.1 tabs, so i figured the 7.0+ would be the same.

I picked up an original Galaxy Tab HDMI Dock for under $15, and it works fine so far. You have to be a little careful inserting the 7plus, since the holder is a little narrow and deep.
So far, it's fine for docking and charging. I still haven't tested the HDMI port, but since it supposedly works with the 10.1, I would imagine it would be the same for the 7plus. Once the cable arrives, I'll confirm.

Any luck with the HDMI cable? I went and bought an original tab HDMI dock like yours and noticed the tight fit. I felt like it would eventually scratch the tab, plus (see what I did there?) it was a pain to get in. My solution...Dremel. I took shaved off the sides bit by bit until the tab was still supported but no longer squeezed. It works awesome.

Hdmi works great I get 1080p to my 55".

Has it been confirmed that the HDMI part of the original HDMI dock works?

I have the same sleeve and love it!!!! I did add an anti-glare film and have just ordered a skin to protect the back and sides; this sleeve isn't lined with a soft micro fiber.

Car Mount
Has anybody used the OEM vehicle mount? I had the last one for the original GT and the suction cup & arm were able to be removed from the rest of the mount. This allowed me to use a permanent mount from RAM. Is this the same with this version as well?

Got one and love it! found it a little cheaper on ebay.

Inductive Chargers for the Touchpad

Does anyone know if the Powermat or the Energizer charging platforms will work with the TP? I was in Target this past weekend and noticed that they were clearanced for 75% off retail price. The idea is nice but I don't want to waste $30 if it won't work.
No neither one will work with your TP. I don't think it would even recognise it was on the charger.

Yea why would you not go with the touchstone
I really like my TouchStone. Not plugging in cables, and having a real "home" for my TouchPad when not in use is great. Plus it works with the HP case, something I also really like.

you could turn it horizontally so gravity doesn't mess with it, or lay it down flat, then put touchpad on top

Pretty much any case as long as it's not too thick (and doesn't have metal between the tp and ts). I have a 'leather' case that works fine sitting on the ts and a tpu form fitting case that also works well. This one is now permanently on the tp and will fit into the leather case but the two together will not allow the tp to charge on the touchstone.
So it seems there are no "3rd party" chargers available?
I want a touchstone, but all the cheap ones are in the US and they don't ship to Australia
In Australia (or anywhere that is willing to ship here) pretty much charges double for the dock ($70?!), and that's not even counting shipping yet.

I bought the Amazon one and am the second reviewer of it. The one thing I forgot to mention is how bright the LED is. It literally lit up my room at night and I could walk around as if I had a nightlight on. I cover it with electrical tape and problem solved. I also edited that review.

This is perhaphs a stupid questions but just wanna be sure since the last time I bought a dock for my HTC Sensation, it came with two different cables - one for data transfer/syncing and another for charging and neither would do both at the same time which was obviously not what I wanted and so had to return it and all that drama.
My question is - Does this dock allow you to do data transfer/sync and charge the device at the same time?
Thanks!

I have this dock and the Diztronic case. It will NOT fit with the case on. It makes the phone too thick and just slightly too long to line up with the USB port.

I don't know. I don't use a case on mine. But how thick is the side on that case? It probably wouldn't without taking the case off.
EDIT : I tried my brothers One S on my dock because his has a silicon case. It's a thin case, and with it on you can use the dock as a stand, but it's not quite enough for data or power connection. Given that, the TPU case here looks small enough that it might work.

I just ordered the Hyperion stand from Amazon...it's available via Prime for $19.99.
I have the clear Cruzerlite Android case and will see if it works with it on when I get it.
Received the Hyperion Desktop Charging Cradle today via Amazon Prime.
The way the dock is designed seems that it will not work with any type of case on the HTC One.
Since the Cruzerlite case is so easy to put on & take off, it's not a real big deal...just a bit of an inconvenience.
I'm planning to keep this dock until something better comes along.
(RANT)
I'm just a bit upset with the delivery service that Amazon used.
They were so lazy that they actually threw my package from the sidewalk in front of my house onto my porch...there are 6 steps up to my front porch.
The thing that gets me is that the package fell off the porch and landed on the side of the house!
I saw this happen, but they drove off before I could give them a piece of my mind!
(END)
Quick question for those who bought the Hyperion Desktop Charging Cradle...does your One S indicate A/C or USB Charging when being charged on this dock?
Mine for some reason shows USB, but the Parameters Output: 5V 1000mAh (on the box)
Shouldn't that be A/C...not USB?
anyone try the oem evo 3d dock looks like it might be a good fir plus added hdmi functionality.
Anyone know if the hyperion will work with MHL adapter to bring hdmi functionality while docking?
I also found a dock made by a company KIDIGI that offers case compatibility while docked.
I am useing the evo 3d dock, Posted a picture. You would need to modify it alittle.

RND Nexus 4 dock review

Hey guys, I bought this Nexus 4 dock on Amazon and received it today. It's specifically designed for the Nexus 4 and fits like a glove. It is currently OOS but this dock looks exactly the same and is $10 cheaper than what I paid. D'oh! The dock works with or without a case thanks to a little insert that changes the size of the dock port. I tested the dock with my Diztronic TPU case and without.
What I like about the dock:
Plain and understated design with no logos or blinky LEDs
Matches the Nexus 4 with or without case perfectly
Works with or without a case
The N4 slides onto the micro usb port with little hassle. I think this will end my attempts to put in the micro usb cable upside down in the dark before falling asleep.
Surprisingly, the speaker doesn't sound too muffled despite being covered by the dock. I was able to comfortably have a conversation over speakerphone and watched a couple YouTube videos without issue.
You can lightly tap things on the screen without it tipping over
Charging works fine thus far. You can also plug it into a computer USB port to sync stuff
Cheap, at least compared to a Qi charger
What I don't like:
You need to hold the base with one hand to pull out the N4. It's made out of hollow plastic. A heavier, more solid feel would be nice, but the base would probably have to be made out of iron to slide out the N4 with one hand.
Included USB cable is short, around 3 feet long
Included wall charger works, but looks and feels cheap. I just plugged in my OEM charger instead
Here's a flickr set of some additional pics I took of the dock.
I'd highly recommend this little guy. IMO, current Qi chargers aren't worth the high cost for the extra convenience they provide. This dock strikes a better balance of convenience and price, and doesn't scrap too much on quality where it counts.
Looks decent. I had something similar for my old Evo. Be interesting to compare to the new Orb one. I just like the idea of magnets doing the work and not worrying about misalignment of the usb port.

Agreed, the orb charger looks ideal. That said, I don't think that this dock will hurt my micro usb connector - I can dock it with far less fuss than connecting the wire manually. But maybe that's just me and my poor hand-eye coordination. :highfive:
This looks ideal. Does anyone have a link to order one from Hong Kong? I have much better luck ordering from there to Canada than I do from the US...
Not sure if this is the same dock, but looks almost identical: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/KiDiGi-Ne...520772?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item2327426fc4
A question to the OP, I noticed from your pics that you were able to use the dock whilst the Nexus was in a Distronic case...was this a comfortable fit? I have bought the Ringke Fusion which is similar in shape to the case you're using.

Yep, the Diztronic case fit perfectly. Not too snug, not too loose. The phone slides down to the USB connector just by gravity alone. You then push the phone down a little and it locks in.

I own 2 of the RND docks, one for an HTC Inspire and one for the Galaxy Note. I went to buy one for the Nexus 4 but it was out of stock then Google had the Orb so I ordered that instead (a lot more expensive but I need to keep the phone for 2 years at least so might as well enjoy it). I really do like these docks, they are very easy to drop your phone into, holds it at a very nice angle and I have never worried about damaging my USB port with it (unlike the Samsung Car Dock which always worried me).
I may still buy one of these for travel as they are small and seem to pack up well. I cant speak to this one specifically as I don't own it but if it is anything like the other two I have it is a very well build product. The one thing that has me a bit concerned is the statement about the cables. The cable they shipped with the old ones were definitely not short, I use one in my bedroom and it is about 6' long. They used to ship a long charge only cable and a shorter data cable, maybe they stopped doing that.
@rmgill Just wanted to thank you again for the recommendation. I bought the cheaper version you linked to in the OP and it appears to be the same as the more expensive one you bought. Very nice dock and killer price. Unfortunately, they're out of stock or I'd pick up another one for my desk at work.
I have a Ringke slim case on it and it slides into the dock with just the right amount of tension. Doesn't feel flimsy or particularly cheap and the back supports it well enough that I don't worry about the microUSB port getting damaged. Definitely recommend it.

Another vote for the iBolt dock. Secure, functions well, doesn't obscure the camera, lets the S4 in a Trident Kraken/Otterbox Defender fit, etc... pricey but worth it IMHO.

It does not fit, but you can shave down soft plastic of the iBolt connector pretty easily with a x-acto/hobby knife. Or any sharp knife really. Took me 1-2 minutes to do. See my post with pictures here:

There's also a bunch of other useful info about the iBolt dock in that thread.
I'm a big fan of these
http://www.amazon.com/cell-phones-accessories/dp/B002K9IPOC
It mounts securely and it solid and it's easy to clip and unclip the phone one handed. Adjustment is also one handed via push buttons and you can rotate it to and from landscape without changing your adjustments. My S4 will be my third phone to occupy the mount.

I've tried all the better model of car docks and the Craigsdocks dock is by far the best, IMO.
http://www.craigsdocks.com/samsung-galaxy-s3-s4-note-ii-car-dock/
Charges, secure holding. Can put the phone in and remove it, all with one hand. No putting it in the dock and then plugging in the USB cable. Nope, this one is all done in one easy motion with just one hand.
A bit more $$, but it will work with any Samsung Galaxy phone. S2, S3, S4, Note II. So it's pretty much future proof as long as Samsung keeps putting the USB port on the bottom of the phone.
It also works with extended batteries and large cases. And billet aluminum. I just can't really say enough good things about this dock.

That's exactly what I was going to do, right flat on the base with industrial strength Velcro tape - don't use screws, just Velcro that thing right to it and it should work just fine that way, the CraigsDock has a very flat base on the back of it and would work great with the flat face of the ProClip vehicle mount! Just make sure to get all the screws set first, obviously, or else you'll have to peal back the one side of Velcro just to get to it. Use Velcro tape and not double-sided tape because then you can't work with it quickly or switch out components when you get a new phone as easily! PROTIP :good:
Has anyone here tried out a magnetic mount?
I really like the iOttie One Touch XL that I just got. It has a very strong suction cup and an easy one click lock/release mechanism.
I got it on a sale from Meritline.
I'd also tried another iOttie that's more compact. While the S4 fits it, it's near the end of the range so it's more of a two handed operation to put the phone in the holder. I much prefer the Easy One Touch linked above.
I've had an iottie. Works ok but with my galaxy s4 my phones has fell out a couple times. Worth the extra money for ibolt

Seeking an easy slip-in car dock with integrated USB jack

I had a nice car dock with my bionic that allowed me to put the phone in on-handed. It held the phone in a landscape format. I would love to find the same for my S4, although the USB on the S4 is at the bottom so that might be difficult. I'll settle for one that can hold the phone in portrait format also. I have seen some nice looking car docks, but they all seem to require a two handed operation in plugging in the cable. I want a one-handed drop-in and flip-clip to secure it against inertia.
Right now, I have jury-rigged a desktop cradle and it works somewhat well, until I drive on a really bumpy road... hence the "inertia" part.
Has anyone seen such a beast?

the microusb conector is the worst conector fomat ever
I've had the ProClip, iBolt, Infuse and Craigdocks dock. I like the Craigsdocks best of all. By a long margin, actually.

I initially balked at the price, but the craigsdocks are hand made solid aluminum.. I might need to get me that one. It looks solid. Thanks for the tip.
Edit: Look at the videos. Craig is not a vendor. He's a craftsman. These are well worth the price.

Yeah, he seems like a really nice guy too. I've chatted with him by email several times about his product. He's totally enthusiastic about his designs and implementation! And listens to suggestions/ideas as well.
I'm very happy knowing that this one dock is going to work with several future generations of Galaxy products and it's built so tough (aluminum) that it'll never wear out.
Definitely a long-term type of purchase!
I received my craigsdock today and it is exactly as advertised. I am now able to use my otterbox defender case full time. It would not fit even with docks that had removable shims to accommodate larger cases.
I wholeheartedly endorse craig's docks
