I recently bought a tablet from China. Here are the details.
Name: Changhong H7
512MB RAM(on the box,Android System info reports 316MB)
ARM v7 Processor revision 2 (v7l)
7 inch Wifi only
Android 2.3.4
The device was already rooted. The device does not have a sim card slot. But does support 3g dongles.
I installed Rom Manager to take a backup of the current ROM, but when I try to install Clockworkmod recovery, I am asked to select a device. A generic device is not an option.
Google identifies my device as Unknown H7.
How can I take a backup of my ROM.? Are there any generic ways to install Clockworkmod recovery ? Or generic ways to backup roms? What sets different tablets apart? Are there some ground rules to identify certain devices?
Here is ascreenshot of the about device screen

I am new, so if this is not the right place for my question please say so.

An after I check the file is CWM5 which is a little bit old. Perhaps the SuperOneClickv2.3.1-ShortFuse comes with that CWM5 version. But still I can't extract it through recovery mode. It say "can't mount the sd card, I did recheck and found out that I already checklist the USB debugging.
I figure out that i must install it separately after rooting with SuperOneClickv2.3.1-ShortFuse. I also read the thread about installing the CWM 9 or 10. One of the thread in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576553 it is a nice thread, but I still need detail steps in installing either CWM9 or CWM10 on my device.

We have a new version of Android for LY-F1 (and clones), still ICS, but is 4.0.4, with more stability and better performance than 4.0.3 (JB was compiled but is not public yet).
Android 4.0.4
DOWNLOAD: ROM F1中性-20120920.1.0.3-A721_V4.2.img
Compilation: 20120920-LY-F1.1.0.3
To flash this ROM you need to use LiveSuite
Is pre-rooted too but you need to reflash the same new ROM (flash twice) to mount RW system properly. Complete root with UnlockROOT 2.4.2.
Default language is english, but you can change it for any language (if you need).
Have a fully functional Play Store, GMail, Google Talk adn Adobe flash player pre-installed. You can install Maps, Youtube, and other Google applications.
Have File Manager pre-installed (I prefer ES File Explorer).

Nice update, thanks for your instructions and (working) link! Easy install via livesuit, works well on my natpc m009s. Quicker than original 4.03 with some nice improvements to interface..
I'm trying to install the rom using livesuit but it keeps saying no device needs upgrading...

This device (LY-F1) does not have bluetooth hardware. If you want it you must use a dongle bluetooth and a ROM that supports it (maybe CyanogenMod 9 or 10 for Allwinner A10 devices).
Last JB works great with LY-F1, but the Seby ROM (based on the last official JB version for this device) works better.
This device tries to boot from sd card by default! You can easily use linux on this device: https://forum.armbian.com/index.php...rrytopwise-a721-make-old-tablets-great-again/

Hi,
I have an mt6580m device (Dialog Optima 2 / A130) and after trying almost every method in the internet I still couldn't get it rooted. The only possible solution seems to be compiling a recovery which I cannot afford to due to extremely expensive + slow internet. So if anyone could compile/port me a custom recovery (cwm/twrp/philz/carliv whichever supports install from zip) it'd be so nice of you. Please help.
bootloader is unlocked.
fastboot shows a max download size of 134217728 though the system.img is much bigger than that (around 1GiB) , so it seems to be impossible (afaik) to flash a modified system.img.

Did you find solution how to root MT6580 ?
Thanks.
First thanks for responding.
I am a tech have used ADB and fastboot / rooting , but this is a step further for me. I have installed countless OS's on servers and PC's and ARM based SBC's.
I bought 5 Fire HD 10's over a period of time for the Family. Added google play store to them all. However this Fire OS is just to chuggy. Before I proceed I know I need to identify which ver I have np there.
Been looking and it looks pretty unclear how to just wipe out whatever is on the Fire HD 10 tablet and install a clean vanilla android OS. LineageOS looked promising but doesn't show in the supported list. I finally found a guide which leads me to the following questions.
1) Will the below guide work in providing me access to the device to install whatever OS I want?
See Attached Image its not letting me post outside links as a new user...
2) Is there guide for which OS's I should install based on my Fire 10 Version? IE what OS would you recommend? Can you provide a link to the downloads? I can find lineageOS already not sure on the rest though.
3) Assuming that my question #1 will work will the below link also as to installing the custom OS?
See Attached Image its not letting me post outside links as a new user...

If TWRP or custom ROMs exist for your model number of Kindle, do a Google search for.
"TWRP for (your specific model number)"
And
"Custom ROMs for (your specific model number)"
You need to know your specific model number, go to system settings>about and look around for your model number if you don't already know it, use that model number in your searches. If it exists for your device, those searches should find what you can use.
