If you are using a custom ROM right now than you can go into recovery wipe everything and then flash a stock ROM. There is a code to wipe date/factory reset your phone as well. Go on youtube and there should be a tutorial but it's shown on a galaxy S. It will work on our phones also. I have tried it many times.
thanks for the reply... will definately try that
btw, i probably should start a new thread for this
but i installed Kies .. updated it to latest fix version
and connected my phone
It says
unable to connect to gt-i5801. failed to retrieve device information
I had installed all .net framework req, Samsung USB device drivers
can plz help as to what should i do now?
PS: sorry, got it working
just did factory reset on phone and tried connecting .. it worked
Thank you.

hye everyone. i'm having an issue with the Gtab plus. its actually weird issue. it seems like i can't wipe data/ factory reset. or even flash a rom every time i try to do the above methods it success until i reboot my device everything come back. if i flashed a stock rom to the gtab plus it will be successful and when the device starts its like i didn't flash anything. i'v tried wipe data / caches from Touch CWM since its the only CWM that doesn't require reboot after flashing it using "update from sdcard from the stock recovery mode" and no success when the device restart everything back. i even formatted the Sdcard from the PC but yet if i reboot the device everything will be restored i'm like "OMFG" what is going on with this device. and most of the time its on Kernel PANIC stats. any help/advice ? what i should do ? because i have tried almost everything. and btw its still on stock 3.2

Did you buy this tablet new with 3.2 on it? It's possible you have EMMC memory failed which is a hardware fail that occurs when wiping memory on ICS.

it's not a hardware probem ..the only reason is ..ur tab's bootloader is locked so u need to unlock bootloader then every thing 'll be ok .
First I used CyanogenMod's one click install and that was all good. Installed CM10.1 and installed some apps.
Decided to install a font app that changes the font of the phone. When I changed the font the first time, I didn't like it, so using a backup that was made in app, I restored it, before it shut down, there was a message saying it had failed so now my Galaxy Nexus (GSM) is stuck in a bootloop.
I already tried deleting cache, wiping the whole system, and wiping dalvik cache, but the bootloop is still there. I need help quite desperately.
What do I do now?
I am a noob to this so layman's terms is appreciated.

Hi There,
So, I have a Samsung Galax S2 Telus SGH-T989D phone and I decided to root it using the 4.4 KitKat and it went well and everything was great.
However, afterwards to resolve some other issues I was having I decided to make the mistake of loading the gapps which was for another
package into my phone and that messed everything up!
So, I have been struggling with the phone and first it wouldn't let me install another ROM from recovery and kept on giving me error 7 and 6
But, I fixed that and now I can install any ROM from the recovery or Odin (download mode) without any errors.
However:
The phone vibrates , brings up the galaxy logo and then the Koodo logo appears and a bar fills up quickly under it but it never goes away!!!
Phone freezes there and that's that!! Even after taking out the battery I noticed the logo was still stuck on the screen where as normally
it goes blank!!
So, at this point I am not sure what else to do! This is annoying and I'm tired of experimenting. I went through some XDA foroums here and
tried the Super Vipe (taking out the battery has been tried, factory reset and wiping the cache all have been tried)
So, please please please help me out here. I used to have a MyTouch4G which I rooted with CyanogenMod back in the day and it's the most
stable thing ever and all I wanted to do was to perform the same thing on my Galaxy S2 and boom not this time!!!
Awaiting your response and thanks in advance

Thank you for your reply. However, as I've mentioned before, I've already tried those (from ODIN and through RECOVERY) with multiple different
ROMS and it's not doing anything which is why I am posting this here.

Did you perform a FULL wipe? Custom recovery -> format ALL partitions except EFS?
I have tried the Super Vipe off the SD card through the recovery mode and also from recovery I've tried the wipe cache,
factory reset and wipe cache partitions.
I am not sure about "format ALL partitions except EFS" nor am I aware of the procedure.
How would I perform that?
Have you installed a working custom recovery?

Yes I'm able to successfully install recovery-clockwork-5.0.2.7-hercules or CWM_Root_Superuser_3.1.3_Busybox_1.20.2
from the recovery without any errors (same if rooted through Odin)
If there's a specific ROM you are thinking about please let me know and I will be more than glad to give it a shot.
You really should use a newer recovery version. But for now go to mounts and storage and format all partitions except EFS. Then try flashing stock firmware via Odin
Here you can get the latest recovery for your device --> TWRP for hercules

Do you have a working link for downloading the stock firmware? I have downloaded few and none of them even let me install them (status 0 error)
Any ideas?

I was able to finally bring it up!!
Basically I looked for a stock firmware for T-Mobile and after formatting the phones multiple times I tried this ROM
using ODIN and it got rid of the Koodo logo and replaced it with a T-Mobile logo and then it BOOM loaded to start screen finally!!
I was about to hammer the phone. So, trust me I was very happy to see it work.
Thank you for your quick and helpful response :good:
Cheers :victory:
Hi all...
I tried to upgrade by Tab 2 7" to KitKat today and failed. I installed Clockworkmod successfully, but then started getting error 7's. I discovered this was because it was outdated. I've tried to install updated clockwork mod which it says has been successful - but doesn't change the original.
I did a backup of my original rom, but this has failed to reinstall. I've tried to put an old version of cyanogen on it, which also has failed, and re-downloaded the stock rom from samsfirmware which passes through ODIN, resets but then the tab 2 hangs on the Samsung screen - flashing.
I can't seem to resolve it.
Has anyone got any ideas? I can't access anything other than clockworkmod - so if you think you know of a way I can successfully upgrade it I may stand half a chance.....
Thanks
Tim

Use Odin to restore to the stock ROM. Download the stock rom from samfirmware.com and flash it in Odin as PDA. Then, use the latest recovery (either TWRP, CWM, OR PhilZ) from @Android-Andi's recovery thread in the Dev section. You should now be able to flash any ROM you want to. Make sure you do a backup and a wipe system, cache, Dalvik, data, and android secure (if it's an option.)

Thanks so much, does it matter that it won't boot with the stock Roma which I've installed from sams? Will the recovery program still work?

Yes, I did twice and it's still hung after apparent success installation according to Odin. I've tried it twice.
No success
Thanks
What I've done tonight is reflashed the original Rom - this time it blew away Clockworkmod. It still wouldn't boot. I then put a recovery solution on from your link, which has flashed well. However I've then tried three ROMS and each have hung after installation on the initial boot.
I'll try them again tomorrow night - but do you have any idea why three ROMS plus the stock keep failing?
Thanks
Tim

Did you wipe system, cache, Dalvik cache, and data before flashing and wipe cache and dalvik after flashing? And your tablet will bootloop after a reinstallation in Odin because Odin does not wipe before installation. After flashing in Odin, reboot recovery (make sure tablet is unplugged,) and wipe data, cache, and dalvik cache. Reboot and you should be good to go.

Hi all
Thanks for all your help, especially rcj! I have managed to recover my device using cynagodmod 9 - it wont run 10 or 11 but at least its up and working - even if it's a downgrade from the Android version I was on Really don't care as I can use it again with a lot more memory.
Thanks - without you I would never have found Phils ROM which enabled me to get this far.

Which version of PhilZ? And I have found that TWRP 2.7.1.0 works better than other versions for KK.
Sent from my SGH-T989
Use latest Philz touch recovery. And use the rom and gapps compatible to your tab. Don't forget to reset to factory setting, clear cache and wipe dalvic cache before flashing the rom and gapps ☺

Way back when, I modified my 4.1.2 tab so I could use the Switchme app. Since it hasn't had a software update since then, I need to unmodify my system, so I did a hard reset but that doesn't seem to unmodify it so I can get it updated. Do I have to flash to a stock ROM, or won't that help either? I've done a hard reset twice now and restoring my Samsung account does seem to work either. Help PLEASE!
Nope it does not.

Factory reset only Clears out use added content apps and Personal Settings. To get back to stop you will ..
1 Download the Correct Latest Version Of Android From Sam-mobile or Samsung For your Device.
2. Download odin for your device
3. Make sure you can access your device from windows or os your using.
4. Follow instructions for getting into download mode and flashing the samsung firmware with odin from your computer.
5 . Reboot the device and Leave it be..
Never flash anything on any Device until you know how to get back.
There are many Threads with step by step details on the above. even many youtube videos..
Good Luck
Hey,
I don't think you have to flash back to a stock ROM in order to upgrade to a different ROM. I was able to upgrade my tab with 4.1.2 (I can't remember what ROM it was) right to GNABO then a few hours later to Carbon, and a few hours later to Hyperdive and I'ts running fine with no issues besides the Aroma freezing, but what else is new...
You shouldn't have to flash back to a stock ROM to flash to a modified ROM, reason being is the modified ROM Flashes over the current ROM on the device, so the original ROM will be deleted anyways. The new ROM contains the updates for you, that's the advantage of androids. I recommend trying a few OS's before you pick the one for you stick with it. If you want to go stock there is a thread somewhere in the DEV section with the stock ROM just do some searching.
Make sure when you install a ROM to ;
Backup your device and make sure to keep a copy of the backup to your pc!
Boot into CWM Recovery or TWRP
Wipe data / factory reset
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik cache
Install ROM from SD
Good Luck
