Good day all, I have a problem, not ever having an android device or having anything to do with android before. I have purchased a Archos 70b ereader for a Xmas present for my partner. Now I have done a little research and have found that this device comes with android 2.1 eclair I believe. I was hoping for some advice on weather this device can be rooted and a new rom installed? I have seen that there is a app called z4 root and an app called rom manager that look fairly simple to use. If I was to get z4 root and rom manager and use z4 root to root the device first could I then install any rom via rom manager that I wanted on this device or would I be restricted alot due to the type of android Device this was. Also I have looked into roms briefly and I like the look of cyanogen 7 and MIUI could the archos 70b run these. If someone could give a list of roms that could be installed and used well on this device that would be amazing.
Thanks in advance for any help and advice.
James.

Good question! i would also like to know if this e-reader is suitable to run custom Roms. maybe run android 2.2
Am am looking for the same answers.
perhaps we should ask the CM7.1 Team?
I thing here are only guys with expensive tablets.
Archos70b will not be supported.
I know only this Rom: But I do not know if I should use my Rom manager Pro from my Nexus.

Hey guys,
I don't know if anyone has looked more closer into this, but for all who did not:
Your choice of ROM is very limited because of the distinct hardware and few developers.
The bq Voltaire has got mostly the same hardware, so their firmware seems to work.
I've flashed a pre-rooted bq Voltaire Android 2.2 Froyo Rom on my 70b ereader and it works like a charm with no restrictions and even the regular market works!
The link to the rom I used:
http://www.mediafire.com/?3vndcu7wzd8wu1z
It's 2.2.1 with Kernel 2.6.25 [email protected] #28
Build-numer froyo1.00 MASTER.eng.root.20110908.110852-jefi
I got it on a german forum (on page 2 and 13, page 1 is the eclair rom)
http://www.androidpit.de/de/android...irmware-Root-fuer-Archos-70b-oder-bq-Voltaire
For flashing, you can either use the guideline on the german forum or if you don't understand, there was an english version posted on xda some time ago:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14422370&postcount=4
(I don't take any responsibility if you brick or otherwise damage your device! I can just say that for me it worked perfectly :3 )
There is also some info here, but is on Spanish

-android-23.html
sorry for the lnk

Hi all,
Sorry 'bout the n00b question - but are there any of the custom ROM's out there which can be used for the Samsung Spica? I think my Spica is so darn slow, so really want to spice it up a little.
Just come off a SE Xperia X1, and used to flash it every other day - which I kinda miss on my Android device.
So - how is my outlook here?
Happy new year!
No one knows anything about this?

Not going to get much help here. After all this is a forum for HTC devices. AFAIK there is'nt a lot of custom ROm development for the spica apart from Leshak's ROM. you could google it.
Cheers
Try samdroid.net. There are active forums for samsung spica rooting, kernals and custom roms alongwith lots of tweaks and mods/
Hey
I have the following
Baseband version-i570EJXJC2
Kernel 2.6.29 [email protected] #2
build eclair jpjd7
Questions-
1. Which of these is the PDA or CSC etc
2. what should i do..i have jc2....I cant use spica jc3.ops
3.all i want is to root my phone and use app2sd since my phone memory is always full.
I cant use LESHAKS........... lk2 mod without being on lk mod i guess...also this firmware is what i got here in dubai. please help me root my phone...I am so confused with this firmware. only after i flash a good european firmware and root it can i use custom roms right?
AFAIK, the only stable and popular ROM, is the one from Leshack.... lets hope cyanogen releases something... i think both can take profit of each other's work and release something wonderful (froyo + multitouch + overclock + 3D driver.... etc...)

It's quite same like Acer A500
for 3.2 there is no really simple way, but this is not that bad eather, here is what I did:
1) donwgrade using this
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1276227 (edit: or maybe this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1307539 I dont remember, only neded think there is, that you need to add something at some point in front of the serial)
but with EUUs_PB_G100W_1.007.03_COM_GEN1 from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1113878
(well...its just download PC drivers from PB site, enable usb something (debugging or waht?) in tablet, find out serial number, run euu)
2) root it using iconiaroot
3) install CWM and flash whatever ROM you like, I used Taboonay 2.2
edit: I used taboonay cause my Huawei 3g dongle works with it
Hi there,
i was wondering if there are any new methods to root a Packard Bell Liberty Tab?
Also i wanted to tell you guys, that you can download the source code of both kernel (Honeycomb 3.0 and 3.2) on the support page from packard bell.
Maybe someone can use that for recovery.
Also i wanted to ask you guys, which ROM is the best for the Liberty Tab (maybe with support for Keyboard which works via a Bluetooth dongle)?
Hopfully someone will answer me
Thanks in advance

Hello XDA,
I have bought a new android device for myself today, the Sharp FX Plus (Model: ADS1) and I've been browsing on the site to find some compatible roms; But no luck. I've used the forums before to successfully root and put a rom on my ASUS tablet with no issues, but this one is a mystery. Is there a thread with what roms are compatible with my phone or has nobody ever really looked into this phone? I've tried to google it with no luck, either. The phone is already rooted, I got that far, I just can't find any roms that are 'confirmed' compatible with it.
Thanks to whoever replies!
P.S. I'm slightly new to the whole custom rom thing - but I do somewhat understand the basics.
metoo!
I too have a sharp fx plus ads1. I have my phone rooted but am having no luck finding a custom rom. I understand it is kind of an entry level android and maybe out of date but it has all the capabilites I need. I also know enough to root my phone and install a rom but not good enough to actually create my own custom rom. Is there anyone that has the time and enjoys doing so that would help out with a custom rom for these phones? I found a page that mentioned updated to 3.2 with a new rom but there was no link for the rom so I'm thinkning it was a fake. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

EDIT: I posted in Misc Android Development section here, trying to put the information in a centralized area for any potential development on this device.
Recompiled the CM7 Kernel as a test using the device's config.gz, working on getting the CM7 source to go (its being tricky lol). I have a test CyanogenMod 6.1.2 ported from a Z71 that runs, as well as a modded stock 2.2.2 ROM. A "dirty-port" test of a Z71 CM7 rom boots with some mods (no radio, networking, etc..) - so there may be some hope for this lil thing!
Hope that helps
Hey guys I am fairly new to android and really new to this rooting and custom rom thing and I've been doing my research with what a rooted android w/ custom rom could look like and what it could further do.
I was hoping that my rooted phone is compatible with Custom Roms like Cyanogen Mod, AOKP, etc. Unfortunately my phone isn't listed in any listed devices in the well known Custom Rom Sites but I still proceeded with installing Cyanogen Mod since everyone seems to be using it. I don't even know if there are more of these eye candy useful mods that makes the ios look miserably locked up while hoping at least one of these custom rom is compatible with my crappy awesome phone. But upon installation process of Cyanogen Mod WITHOUT awareness that it really isn't compatible, it stated in that page that I could (STILL)use their Custom Rom at my own risk. Beyond that I stopped the installation process in fear of destroying my phone.
I was wondering whether you guys could enlighten me about the compatibility of Huawei Y220-U10 to Custom Roms. I've seen Huawei Y210's on youtube that's using a custom rom but unfortunately ALL of them who's demonstrating their phones are speaking in Spanish. I also installed ROM Installer but I can't seem to see 'FEATURED'? Maybe because it's the free version?
Now I am willing to take the risk, starting from the bottom meaning derooting my phone, wiping it clean, rerooting it and flashing that Custom Rom but I'm seeking advice from much more experienced users because if you guys tell me that it is a BIG NO NO I guess I'll just have to stick with the Go Launcher and wait until I get a much better, stronger, faster android smartphone which has a friendlier compatibility to everything android. And how come I can't access facebook nor yahoo from any web browser in my phone? is it a virus? Please clarify my theories.
Much Regards, Jom
P.S. Phone is running at 2.3.6 and rooted with Kingo Android ROOT
Hello @Jom Apa Welcome to Android / XDA!
"BIG NO NO!" You can't flash ROMs not made for your device because of the underlying hardware incompatibilities. You might completely kill your phone.
Give me a few minutes while I search for ROMs you can use
UPDATE: Unfortunately I haven't been able to find any custom firmware for your device nor Github entries for the chipset used. Seems you'll either have to stick with stock or create your own custom ROMs there are a lot of support here on XDA, Let the learning begin!
Cheers!
Hello,
With the recent Android M coming out soon, I wanted to try to find a custom ROM to flash onto my Android Phone. It's the VeryKool Sparks II s5015. However, being as it's not very much supported, I'm having issues finding ROM's etc for Lollipop custom builds. Does anyone have any idea's where I could get one? Or what? CM 12 doesn't appear to be compatible.
hey bro, your phone it's compatible but there are no developers working on your specific device, thats the reason for that you can't find a ROM... Whatever your phone have MTK Chipset, install cpu-z app from playstore and see what model is. example mine device is mt6572. when you sure know your device chipset can download custom rom from here: http://_www.mtkroms.com_/ and here: http://_www.mtkcrom.blogspot.com_/ (delete the "_" on URL) obviously you have to ported first for your device, but don't worry, there are tutorials on the pages.
finally sorry for my bad english and... do all things at your own risk, if i helped you click the "thanks" button
