I'm running version 2.5.1 and would like to update to 2.6.7, but not dice either via Android or Amazon app store, or via direct download. What are others doing?
Do I need to delete and install?
It's not natively available for the KF via either stores. You'll have to find the apk somewhere, or update and transfer it via a phone (if you have one available).
Search for it on Google. The people who make Go Launcher post the updated APK files on their web site.
I have the Apk file, that's not the problem. the piroblem is that it fails to install.

Oh yea I forgot about this. I used root explorer and got the apk out of the protected folder. I think paypal and something else is in there..

Download that App, connect your phone via usb and drag it onto the micro sd card. After that disconnect the usb cable, then go to the" files" application. Click on phone and then click on the file! That simple

I have the Asus TF300 (Android 4.1 JB) which is listed as not compatible (WHY GM, WHY) with Onstar in Google play. I download the APK a few months ago and it worked until a few weeks ago. Now when attempting to log in to Onstar I get the message "Authentication failed. Unable to perform request. Please try again. If this problem persists, check for an application update. (403_2)"
I have Onstar app version 1.1 (108). Where may I obtain the current version APK to download?

If you download through market, you can update directly from market. If you download & install on your own (sideload), the only way to update is to download a newer .apk file.

update apps by:
if you use play store, then you will have notifications when an update is available. if there are some country specific apps, then if you are rooted, you can unlock apps for all countries by doing this:
1: go to apktops. com
2: download market unlocker, whichever version is the latest.
3: it will allow you to configure which play store you want to unlock.
if you arent rooted, then just search for the apk file on google and sideload the latest version, and you have updated your app!

not throught the play store. the google now launcher is only for nexus devices and gpe devices. you can install the apk manually. turn on unknown sources in security. download the apk from a apk download puller like this: http://apps.evozi.com/apk-downloader/?id=com.google.android.launcher put it on your phone (or download it on your phones web browser). use the file browser and open the apk and install.

Exactly. You can't install GEL on other devics than Nexus. But it's working. I am using it all the time.

On a Verizon Ellipsis 7 they didn't include the Files app. Rather than install some 3rd party file manager that has advertising and pay to use extra features, I'd like to just install the stock Android Files app.

Apkmirror website, but you need to know the exact package name of the apk to correctly identify exactly which app you want. You also need to make sure that you download a version that is made to work with your CPU architecture(Armv7, Armv8, Arm_64, etc...).
Also, Verizon may not have its own stock Files app, they might just use the standard Google "Files" app, if so, you can probably get it from Playstore.
Files by Google requires Android 5+
