(Q) Does your browser close when surfing the internet? - Eee Pad Transformer Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My gf uses my TF to surf the interwebz and keeps yelling at me that this thing sucks because the browser just closes randomly. I decided to test it out and see what was happening. I was browsing and then boom it just closed as i was swiping down the the page.
I have wiped and flashed different roms and still happens on stock browser.
Is it just me or has anyone else experienced it. I will try to get a logcat at some point.

Most probably an overclocked non-stock kernel?

Try Opera.

I have experienced the same issue. It is the only thing I don't like about the Transformer. I'm using the Prime ROM, happened with both v1.4 and 2.1 (both versions I used). I just assumed it was a glitch with the ROM, worth the tradeoff for other benefits it provided.

I have the stock OTA 3.2.1 and with the stock browser that happens to me as well. Very strange. Hopefully someone can figure it out.

This is a known issue, happens with most browsers but opera, firefox seems pretty good to.
When it starts closing go to manage apps, select browser and clear cache. When it gets to 25mb our so it starts closing. I clear it out every day or so and never have issues with the browser.

Well, maybe that is not what you'd like to hear, but I had similar experience with my wife's TF (yes, each of us have one ). It started with browser crashing often and continued with random crashes of lots of things and random reboots. It was in a few days after the purchase, so I just returned it to the shop and they replaced it with a new one. This happened no matter what ROM I flashed.
This may not be the case, however. You could also try checking your SD card. I read here somewhere (just search it up ) that simiar problems could be caused by a faulty SD card, because some browsers could store their cache there (although most apps will probably use the internal storage by default).

try dolphin browser
I had the same problem, using stock rom 3.2
Been using it almost 1 day and not a single problem yet

Only experienced this when I opened a crapload of tabs.

Nook App Constant FCs?

Anyone else having issues with this app?
They released a new version a few days ago so I decided to check it out. Unfortunately, I can't open ANY books, including the ones that come included. It automatically force closes 100% of the time.
Has anyone had this issue and been able to resolve it?
(Nexus One, CM 6.1)
Just installed it and I could open one of their free books without any issue.
I have a similiar issue on my phone. I won't FC, but it will never open anything. I can leave it loading for half an hour, and nothing.
I have the same issues too, I try to open any books and it will FC. It will load my imported books, but 2-3 seconds after it FC too.
Well at least it's not just me.
We're not using the same phones so that can't be it. Hmm
I am having this same issue with my Charge, and it wasnt even out when this thread was opened, anyone know what we can do?

Wow, blast from the past haha.
I think I flashed a new version of a different ROM a long time ago and then the Nook app worked. If you're on stock, perhaps Samsung's ROM just sucks

Gtablet running slow, apps behaving strangely

I've been running gtabcomb on bootloader 1.2 for several months, but just a few days ago my tablet started acting strange. URL links from GMail or Plume would only open in Opera one out of five times. Typically Opera would pop up but nothing would happen, the URL bar would be empty. Other times I'd get a partially loaded page. The standard browser worked more reliably, but was super slow.
The tablet itself was also slow as a dog, taking several minutes to update applications, 30 seconds to load messages in GMail, and two minutes to boot.
Today I wiped and formatted and installed with flashback 10.3 (which I'd also previously run successfully) but the problems are still there. It's super slow, and Opera still isn't handling links correctly. Given that this was a full wipe I'm at a bit of a loss. I guess I'll try a 2.2 or 2.3 build next. Kind of strange that I was on several honeycomb builds with no problems for the last three or four months though.
Has anyone else experienced these kinds of extreme slowdowns that somehow transcend fresh OS installs? Could there be some sort of internal memory issue that could explain the slowness and strange app behavior?

[Q] web browser forcecloses

i have a rooted TF w/Krakd rom, which i've had done for quite sometime now
last night i just notice that for some reason my web browser randomly forcecloses now, anybody have any ideas why?
Same herebut with tons of apps. Market, Dolphin for Pad, Launcher, etc... wth? I even wiped and started fresh and I'm still having problems.
Any ideas?
Yeah...problem with going to a custom ROM too soon without giving the stock ROM a good test drive...so I always wonder if I would have run into the same problems if I had just stuck with stock.
I have the stock ROM backed up...but don't feel like spending time to customize again.
it just started doing this, besides i don't think i could ever run stock

Apps closing - Any ideas?

I've tried a couple of ROMs, stock, unrooted, wipes, full formats and all manner of configurations, and I'm beginning to wonder if this might be a hardware problem with bad RAM or something. Before I send it to Asus, I'd like to see if anyone has fixed this problem. I've had a ***** of a time researching this because any terms I used result in worthless hits on Google. I have found a couple of people with the issue, but no one has posted a fix yet.
If I browse an image-heavy forum thread on any forum with any browser (Opera, Dolphin, Stock, Lastpass) apps will start closing by themselves. First Screeble, then the browser. It acts as if I've hit the home button, but when I restart the browser I get my home page. This occurs even after a full wipe without any apps installed.
I have a RAMdump file that shows a kernel panic and a shutdown of one of the cores, but that's about all I can figure out. I can post it if anyone can make sense of it.
Hi.
Unfortunately I do not have a solution for you but I wonder if we are experiancing the same problem.
When it starts accting up, if you turn your wifi off and back on does it show an error?
If it is causing FC's you probably have faulty hardware, and should return to store or RMA. If you've got the dump with the KP, attach it here, and try to repeat it,

Experiencing sleep-of-death on the P905, need help

Basically what the title says. I own a snapdragon P905 version and I'm experiencing sleep of death on the device. It was rooted before but then the problem started ocurring and I did a factory reset but that didn't fix the problem.
Any ideas would be apreciated.
SOLUTION
It seems that reflashing a stock firmware form SAMMOBILE solved the problem for me. At least no problems ocurred since I reflashed it. Cheers, I hope it helps someone else too.
EDIT: Nop, that didn't solve it, the SOD was back after an hour or so... back to the drawing board...
What changed in that hour? Perhaps an application that was recently updated by it's developer is causing issues?

No, BUT, it seems i made a mistake by not wiping the device because, after I used ODIN to flash the alternative firmware my data wasn't deleted and I didn't have to setup the device or my apps.
Note that I have only the bare essentials installed on the tablet (Dolphin browser, facebook, battlefield battlelog, battlefield commander, BS player, splashtop 2, and hancom office - not the viewer).
I've read on some other devices the wifi module causes the SOD, I'll try disabling the wifi first. If that doesn't work I'll try installing TWRP and wiping cache/dalvik to see if that brings me anywhere. If not, I'll start picking off my apps one by one.
I didn't have enough time to do any of the things I said I'd do in the last post BUT, the Sleep Of Death was gone for 3 days untill I installed facebook and dolphin browser yesterday. Now it's back again!? I uninstalled both apps but the SOD is still here. No clue on how it went away on its own, and why it won't go away again...
I'm still looking for some fresh ideas.
EDIT: It seems that factory reset does the job, and I can install my basic apps and it works fine for a day... BUT if I leave it over night I can't turn the screen on in the morning, and the SOD is back every time after that.
EDIT 2: It was the broken micro sd card I frogot I put into the tablet...
Same here. Didn't happen at first. Now when screen goes off, I have to reboot. I am certain I will track this down.... But it's currently frustrating

@canezila - Perhaps a corrupted SD card as noted in cavkic's last update?
I don't believe it is this. As best that I know, it's working well.
