My brand new sensation h-boot says locked but s-off? - HTC Sensation

Was just about to go through the noob proof s-off process then discovered i'm already s-off.
I'm just a little perplexed by the *** LOCKED *** bit at the top and wondered if anyone could shed some light on it for me?
Can i just flash the clockworkmod PG58IMG.zip and then flash a custom rom without using the revolutionary.exe?

The locked bit at the top is the official HTC locking/unlocking message. If you go through the HTC website to unlock the boot loader it'll then say 'unlocked'
The S-OFF means 1 of two things:
1. You have a device S-OFF from the factory, or;
2. Someone returned it after unrooting and didn't S-ON the device again

So i guess i'm good to install cwm and flash away?
edit: all sorted now

I have same issue as OP, but my H-BOOT's 1.27.0000
I can't flash **** through Fast boot, says not allowed -_-
I managed to get S-OFF via Rev, worked flawlessly gained root and did the downloading CWM, flashed Virtuous Inquisition and successfully got the on screen buttons working via decompiling-editing recompiling the framework-res.apk.
But I am utterly clueless as to why today, I find the ***Revolutionary*** has been replaced with ***Locked***
Anything I gotta do? Or just leave it?

If your s off, locked means nothing.

It just means that your bootloader is the locked variety so you can't do some extended fastboot commands such as 'fastboot flash splash1 nameofimg.img' to replace the splash screen and a few other less common commands. I wouldn't worry about it. If you want to replace the splash image, check here.

Look in: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
You'll find an unlocked version of 1.27.1100 (3.24 Unlocked). It was unlocked by one of the Revolutionary team as far as I know.

I've got shot of the Sensation now anyway, my kid threw up on it >_< so I joined the trendy crowd (only cause it was the best my jnsuarance would replace it with) and got an SGSII
Hilariously enough, my first impression is, I don't like touchwiz and want to flash a different ROM lol

Whatever I see from ur information I suggest you to get ur bootloader unlocked by HTC devs. Reason is u got second hand mobile so anyway you don't have warranty. Other thing check is it super cid If not get it done then start flashing. You will have less problem and if you stuck will get quick resolution.

I'm not so sure, when I used the HTCDev page to unlock the boot loader on my first Sensation, I followed all the steps to the letter and it hard-bricked the device. Used Revolutionary with the replacement one, worked flawlessly

There have been many people with the same issue. Please do some research, educate.
All that means is fastboot commands aren't going to work, most people rarely use them so you'll be fine.
Oke thanks, but do you know what i need to do to get it fixed?
(for my education)
Well you can flash a new update with the revolutionary bootloader. Kohr-Ah has a tidy selection with everything you could need located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1459767
Head over to the second post and find the section that matches your carrier/CID. Download the 3.24 Unlocked version for your CID and put it on the root of your SD. Now, reboot your phone while holding volume down. The bootloader will detect the PG58IMG file and ask if you want to perform the update. Hit volume up, and it'll update a few things. Then, it'll reboot back into the new bootloader and update the rest. After that, make sure you have an ICS based rom (preferably one built from the 3.24 base, and you're all set. Be sure to delete the PG58IMG after updating, because the bootloader will pick it up every time and refuse to do anything else until it's gone.
Edit: However, I forgot to mention, it really depends on what you mean by "fixed", because you can currently run any rom and do most anything even with a locked bootloader. However, since it is a ten minute fix, I suppose it's worth doing.

Help an idiot out

so i unlocked my device via HTCDev.com thinking since its htc device and all they said was i had to unlock bootloader to flash custon OS's i already knew about S-OFF but being the site didn't talk about it(why would it) i went and flash virtouous ROM and got stuck at the HTC screen. i wasnt thinking so i never backed up the stock HTC Rom!!
now i tried 2 of those RUU's in the shipped rom thread the tmous ones with 29 and 50 both saying wrong version.
my question here is there anyway to get at least one RUU to work or get s-off from HBOOT?
my reason of doing this after going back to completely stock is i cant wait any longer for HTC/Tmobile to get us ICS so i tried the custom way and failed lol
I am sure unless you super SID you will have to find ROMs specific for the country the phone came from.
Eg my phone was from Asia region and I could not flash Euro ROMs
ok from the Shipped rom thread in the dev section for the sensation i was trying to go back to stock to gain s-off but the tmous(USA) which is where i am from said wrong version.

Hboot: 1.18.0000
Check your CID using fastboot getvar cid to see if these still match the ROM you were trying to flash.
says for cid is t-mob010
i guess out of the 2 stock ruu"s from the post doesnt match that?
edit: ok from what i learned in another post i opened up the rom.zip file and looked at android-info.txt both the cid and mid matched my phones from the RUU file "RUU_Pyramid_TMOUS_1.50.531.1_Radio_10.56.9035.00U_10.14.9035.01_M_release_223976_signed" buuuuttttt it tried to update it but fails saying i need to correct version :\

Sent from my HTC Sensation 4G with Beats Audio using xda premium
Yes i am. the 2 Ruu's i am using seem to have matching info to my phone when i went to get the rom.zip it uses to send to my phone and looked in the android-info.txt but tell me to get the correct RUU and try again. i got the from here:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1074559 under the tmous RUU one with 29 and the other 50.
so i am just stuck at the white screen with the word HTC. if i could get s-off and SuperCID through fastboot that would be awesome but googling it shows up that i cant s-off via fastboot ughhh
still no luck cant seem to flash anything without s-off or supercid
so looks like i am jumping the boat going to sprint this thursday and geting the iphone 4s...byebye android
If you can get into fastboot you should be able to flash RUU from there. Just download the RUU.exe and run it as administrator. Follow the prompts in the exe program while your phone is in fastboot mode.

Maybe iCrap is better for you. When you use Android phones and want to complete unlock them for flashing customroms aso you shoud realy learn to read before you do something. I hate it when people are not able to read about the stuff they want to do and when something goes wrong they blaim Android for it.
To get s-off, super CID and root on a HTC Android device is realy easy if you read the how-to threads and normaly takes about 15 minutes.
Have fun with your iCrap 4S and please don't try to jailbreak it before you read some stuff.

first off let me say i have rooted and flashed roms on my sensation before just fine. i was unlocking via htcdev.com and figured their method didnt require s-off since it didnt say anything about it. it just talked about unlocking it to put customs os's on it. 2nd i always had a love hate thing for IOS since i had the 3G and ipod touch.
far as using the RUU'ss it tells me i need the correct Ruu version or something like that. maybe because i didnt run as admin but i have all that stuff turned off due to the theme i used for windows 7 required it off.
If I were you I would Super CID your device. That is what I had to do. A great guide that I used was http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
i tried and i get this error
vreg_set: request is duplicated id 14

You can recover this. Firstly read this guide, regarding downgrading hboot and getting s-off.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23222794
The problems are due to HTC.dev not unlocking all parts of the boot loader - you can't flash radio.img or boot.img so nothing is working.

Find your correct ruu, download ruu.exe to your pc, put your phone into fastboot mode, from h boot screen press power, you can then connect your phone to pc and run the ruu.exe as administrator. This will take you back to stock, s off, unrooted phone. Your phone will be restored and working. Then go read all of the stickies thoroughly so you understand what you are doing and what you need to do to successfully flash ROMS without the risk of bricking.

Sorry for being a noob, I don't quite get what you are saying.
Right now I'm pretty scared of bricking my phone, i've decided not to upgrade. Can I just insert the micro-sd card into my computer, then delete the firmware file and be done with it and have my phone back to normal????
Please help!!
Hi I'm learning about everything too. I can say I don't regret rooting and flashing custom Rom for a second! It can be intimidating at first, trust me I know but if you stick with it your reward will be great! Before you do anything read about it. What I did was even print out instructions so I didn't miss a step that helped me out a lot when flashing my first Rom. There's a lot to learn but everyone here is so helpful. Ask questions, read. Soon it becomes clearer and easier to understand. Its up to you if you wish not to proceed, but I just wanted to give you a pep talk and let you know you can do this! But never proceed unless you are comfortable with it. I wish you the best and good luck in what ever you decide to do.

The boot loop problem really scared the **** out of me. I guess i was being a little careless and didn't bother to check the CID of my phone, I thought I have Super CID already, but it is showing i have the incorrect CID.
I really want to experience ICS, even tho I am happy with my phone right now. I'm just so afraid of bricking my phone.
I guess I will do more homework on it before I do it.
Can someone answer my question in the previous post?
Thank you in advance

Stuck in bootloop after relock

Hey guys, just have a quick question here.
I've been running CM10 on my unlocked One X for awhile now so i decided i would restore my phone to its original rom so i could see what the new updates would be like. So i restored my old stock rom and relocked my bootloader. Now i have the relocked tag as expected but i also have **security warning** and I cannot do anything from there, it's stuck in a bootloop. Just curious as to what went wrong? This isn't the first time I've relocked my phone and I've never had any problems in the past. Any info would be great. Thanks

*SOLVED*
I have absolutely NO idea how, but I just tried rebooting it again after some time and it now is working. No clue really, but I;m quite relieved.
If your phone powers on, it's recoverable. It's when it doesn't seem to turn on at all that you should worry.

Once you have a custom recovery installed you can, yes. It will be super easy.
Getting S-Off is the hard part. Since you already have it, it's an easy road for you.

It is possible, but there are also phones that were shipped as S-Off. You can know if your phone was used befor by removing the back cover, after some use it tends to collect some dust. Replacing the back cover itself is easy and it makes the phone look new. However, if your phone functions properly, there is absolutely no problem.
