T-Mobile wifi calling for LG 2.3.x - T-Mobile LG G2x

Is there any way to get the wifi calling app and all of the support files to test on my P-509? I'm not too keen on switching back to 2.2.x, but that is the only solution I have found thus far. Any help or pointers would would be appreciated!

Well the WiFi Calling app is a nasty one to get working. Requires edits to the kernel and several over lib modifications. I've never done it, but I've been around the block a few times. Your best place would be the actual WiFi Calling Thread, over in the Android Dev. It is a most basic overview of getting the app to work on specific phones.

"The free calling is applicable to the Android phones that have the Smart Wi-Fi app pre-installed and pre-configured for T-Mobile."
But there are a lot of things available after rooting that are app related and tmobile signed.

So I called tmo and the guy "added" this wifi calling feature to my phone.
I don't know how this magic works and I don't know how to test it because I can't find the wifi calling app, the one I copied from the G2X crashes on launch so I don't know....
OK I just called tmo and I was told the following: the nexus s supports this feature. There is no app to control ON/OFF. if they enable it on your account, then whenever you're connected to a wifi network, you're calls will go thru that feature. I don't like this because sometimes the wifi signal is so weak I can just see problems. I'll wait until there is an app for this.
Can someone verify if this true? You won't need the wifi calling app ??

Agreed..and there's no way just the apk without the lib files would work..wifi calling is only on branded handsets.

Can't believe we don't have hack to get this app to work with nexus s yet specially now that MT4G and G2 have gingerbread as well with wifi calling.

The problem is the radio interface layer, a proprietary blob supplied by samsung.
It does not support the auth calls made by the kineto libraries in order to switch to GAN. Without switching to the gan ril wifi calling is not possible.
Ginger bread is not the issue, the libraries have all been made to work, the apk works. The problem lies in the ril. Until a ril surfaces that works on the nexus s and supports gan (something kineto said is unlikely) progress is halted on wifi calling.

Q&A thread for ICS roms

Forum to discuss the different roms available for the Xoom since we have more than one now.
One thing I haven't seen mentioned was support for adhoc phone to tablet tethering. I'm using the Eos rom, is there something I can do to make it work or does tthis require drivers that are currently unavailable?
Thanks in advance!
looking for home icon on ics browser
Does anyone know if there is a homepage icon in the new ics browser. It's not in favorites where it used to be nor on the new browser menu.

The Honeycomb Tiamat build has ad-hoc support built in. It basically involves modifying the wpa_supplicant. I didn't test it on build 6 and haven't flashed build 8 yet so I am not sure if they have modified this yet. I am sure they will eventually if they have not yet.
Regarding Zone-ICS-12.19.11-v2.1 and exchange
Howdy,
Just flashed this after wiping Dalvoc an Cache, all apps still available, as expected no cam. or 3g/4g. Question is does anybody have exchange calendar available? Syncs to gmail calendar, exchange contacts and mail sync up, but exchange calendar doesn't show in lost of available calendars. Just wondering if it' a common thing and if there is a fix yet.
Otherwise I'm going to keep running it. Calendar isn't a deal breaker for me and once a cam and mobile data works this will totally kick butt. Thanks Mike for a super build.
Post 3=7 more to fo for the dev forums..... WooHoo
Will we see the camera and mic working soon?

I'm having the same issues. What apps are people using on the phone?

My phone is a bit old (motorolla cliq), but I have tried with the wifi tether included with my rom/kernel by adlxmod and also with barnacle. Both of these worked with tiamat/morray I had previously on my Xoom. I really like the ICS builds by EOS, and if my tether would work I will never return to HC!

I guess they removed it because I don't have it either. Why they removed it?, no idea.

Tehering works with Wifi Tether
Now that Bluetooth works I can tether using wifi tether without the need for adhoc functionality. Very happy.

Tried open garden with no success, not really sure why it won't work!
Notes Traveler
has somebody expeinrience with (lotus) notes traveler? Does it work with ics? I am thinking about giving ics a try
Thx for short feedback!
Does anyone know if the 1000 track playlist limit in Music/Honeycomb has been fixed? I know Gingerbread doesn't have the limitation, hoping they have fixed it in ICS.

[Q] Anyone can provide WiFi Calling APK for my MIUI Rom?

running Singh ROM and no WiFi calling app.
Would love to have it.
Any link to download and flash?
Thank you!
Look around and it probably wont work that's why he doesn't include it. It is a weird known issue about 98% of the users can not get wifi calling to work on an miui rom, if it does work a reboot kills it or you have to have an old sim card.

Need Help With Wifi Tethering

Hey guys, I am trying to tether wirelessly with my rooted Galaxy S3 on stock OTA Jellybean 4.1.2.
I've always used the Wifi Tether For Root Users app but it doesn't seem to be working with it.
Can anyone inform me of a fix or another app that works to tether wirelessly? Also, if you could include some of the apps settings to help me out... it would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

I tried WiFi Tether for Root Users, with a variety of settings and had no luck. Had to use a modified version from TrevE and it works fine now. There's a number of links for it out there and I'm not sure which is the best to point you to. You can find it via Google though

Thank you for this! I got it to work!
It still won't work when I enable wifi encryption to protect the connection for some odd reason, but works with access control enabled.
Again, thank you!
Sent from my XT912 using xda app-developers app
I never worry about needing encryption myself, so I haven't tried it. We pretty much only use it in the car, for example, so unless someone follows us around, they're not going to have much luck mooching free internet off of us. On the rare time I've turned it on in a public place, I did turn on access control.

Wifi Tether app issues

Hi, I was wondering if anyone else is experiencing issues with the Wifi Tether app by Treve Mod? I CAN NOT use the tethering on my windows 8 laptop, but it works just fine with the 7 one. They are the same computers. My dad has the Note 2 and he uses the same app, and I can connect to his, and it will work fine. I don't know if it's a setting inside the app that is messed up on my phone, or what. Thanks, any recommendations will help.
I use it and don't have any major issues but you need specific settings in it to get infrastructure mode to work. Otherwise it just does ad hoc which may not work on some devices that won't support ad hoc wireless networks such as other phone or tablets. I will check my settings tomorrow and report back.

You mind posting the APK if possible? I am having a hard time finding it on GP, AMZ, or BM
I will try to get the apk I am using uploaded, for now here is a screenshot of the version as well as the settings I'm using. The reload wifi driver setting was key to getting it to work in infrastructure mode for me.
