I was thinking about the same but is there any developer out there who might wanna use up sooooooo much of his time to port CM 9 to this device?
I doubt that....

I bet someone in the mini/ace/(insert phone here) department is already working on ICS for their device..ohhh the agony..someone call 'em devs..we're not making any progress here..

Decide for what? Ice Cream Sandwich is still not available for our device yet you're deciding to choose and what to use? lol. ICS far much better than Gingerbread as it's a combination of Honey Comb and Gingerbread in terms of performance and UI.
if you meant changes, mainly the UI which is kind of similar to Honey Comb but slightly different and ICS works in any devices that can run Gingerbread even on such a small screens smartphones. the ability to use front-facing camera as a lock screen and other stuffs like that. just google it if you are that interested about what's new on ICS

GingerBread is 2.3 and IceCream Sandwich is 4.0 so it's obvious that IceCream Sandwich is better.....
For the changelog, go to the link below.....
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_version_history

alright. just inform me if ICS is already available to our hand set. Thanks

I don't think anyone is going to do the port for our phone, FIT looks like its the ugly one on galaxy line lol.

in 4 years maybe

It may be still possible, look at the X8 and X10 Mini sub forums here on XDA, they are already having an ICS port. as well as the LG Optimus One, it's almost like the Galaxy Fit. We just don't have any devs available and one that would volunteer to work on a port for our device.
It's just really sad we only have a few developers working for our device, it's also sad some like Praytush have move to a new device as well so he won't be able to make ports and stuffs for us anymore (maybe ?)

It's Official! After Honeycomb it's "Ice Cream Sandwich"

Jason Kincaid over at TechCrunch has the scoop (excuse the pun ) on the next version of Android.
Techcrunch - The Future Version of Android
It's not going to be called Ice Cream as rumoured. But "Ice Cream Sandwich". And that's straight from Andy Rubin himself.
What do you think? Good name?
A very strange name to use indeed
OMG My favorite type of ice cream. WIN!
I think Ice cream sound better then ice cream sandwich. but who knows
theres another link regarding the new one. apparently its supposed to be a bridge between gingerbread and honeycomb. interesting at the least. i'll post it when i get above 8 lol.
wondering if android have reached the "X" phase. C=CupCake, D=Donut, E=Eclair, F=Froyo, G=GingerBread, H=HoneyComb, I=IceCreamSandwich, ~~~~~, X=??? what food started with a "X"? Xylitol?

Jello!
Maybe it's Jam. Well we'll just have to wait and see.
Ice cream sandwich is cool... Cause its cold. I prefer the sandwich added rather than just ice cream.
Tough to get too excited when most of us don't even have Gingerbread yet.

I agree... Why did they have to include sandwich in the name? Maybe because this is going to combine both mobile and tablets into one OS version? (Sandwich them together???)
Anyways, I think most of us Android fans knew this was going to the name months before it was announced.
So what do you all think about the following version? Jello? Jellybean?
My guess is Jellybean since Jello is a brand name.

[Q] Will every android get ice cream sandwich?

From what i've read it looks like google wants to make every android have the same version...which is ice cream sandwich, does that mean every android gets the update?

[Q] will ice cream sandwich be ported for moto xoom?

this is probably a silly question but i just want to make sure cause i just bought a xoom and i love it... but the hole no Source code for honeycomb so no rom devolpment makes me sad... so when 4.0 (ice cream sandwich) comes out... it will be available to xoom right?...
Please say yes...
Please..
We don't know yet, but ICS will "unite" tablets and phones, but we don't know if the Xoom will (official) get ICS, but i do believe it will at one point. If it doesn't get it, XDA will fix that.

Zeekiz, you're an evil dude!!
I'm more than happy with my 2.3.7 or whatever version that came with CM7...but speaking of 4.0, do you recon it can run on e.g a Htc Legend or are there certain hardware requirements?

Wow, someone managed to actually port it to the Desire Z !!! Sadly, even the touchscreen doesn't work He was kind enough to post a guide here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=18607221#post18607221
DEVs, GET TO WORK
there's also a port for the nexus s. I'm not sure which would be easier to port but i'm guessing the desire z! I wonder how long it will take them to get it at least useable.
Today morning I was forced to install Custom ROM, so I know how it works now therefore I want ICS bad!

ice cream sandwich

when we can expect the fabulous cm9 port (Android 4.0) on or galaxy 3?
I see in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374691 that you guys are working hard on this port.
Greetzzz from a great fan of the developers from the sg3 Ice Cream Sandwich Port (AOSP/CM9) and Xda

The CM7 port has been going for 7-8 months and is still not finished so i think you'll have to wait a similar amount of time for CM9 although it may be slightly quicker because some of the development on CM7 has helped develop CM9. Anyway, this thread is useless and will probably be destroyed by a mod sooner or later. Next time, ask in the CM9 thread or don't ask at all since the developers work in their free time and can't be expected to work 24/7 like robots.
Come on guys!!! Seriously??
