JaDu Skadoosh with My Touchpad - TouchPad Accessories

I was so excited to actually get this! I took a chance and after talking with the manufacturer about why they didn't offer their stand for us, they said that they weren't sure if there was a market for them. I of course said there are at least several hundred thousand touchpad owners out there.
So after some lookin' around and careful comparison I decided that their Skadoosh would hold our Touchpad just like it held the 1st Gen *pad. I got it in today and have played with it some. So I took some pics since I hadn't seen anyone else talking about stands like this.
If you go to the website for JaDu-Industries, you can look at the stand, maybe if we show enough interest they will put up a page for the Touchpad too!
Here they are, not great but my HD2 takes okay pics.

touch cruise unboxing

Can anyone point me in the right direction for an unboxing movie.... or list the box contence.
Mine is coming on Monday but I just can’t wait.
To be entirely honest I still can't believe that "apparently many people SAY" they have one and yet I can't find an unboxing video for it.
http://www.msmobilenews.com/windows-mobile/reviews/htc-touch-cruise-review.html
There seems to be an unboxing but this (I’m hoping) is the demo pre-release version I’m guessing the massive tell - tell sign being the hole on the back.
I've recorded my box on video. It's being processed by YouTube right now, title "HTC Touch Cruise Unboxing". It was taken with my own TC, two things to note: it's obviously the unboxing "preview" you wanted, and you can also see the awful frame rate on this thing...
Oh yeah, never mind what I'm saying, just blabbering
It’s alright mate, thanks. its much appreciated.
btw can you quickly list the contense of the actually retail unboxing? And if possible the link to your you tube video?
Thank you.
YouTube video just in http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UuM_-yalUpo
It's actually just a preview of the box, not so much to see.
Contents:
The HTC Touch Cruise itself
Good manual
Screen protector
Small pouch + extra stylus
Battery
Charger
USB Cable
2 CD's (1 for extra software like TomTom, 1 for drivers and Windows moblie and such (I guess, didn't check really))
Quick Start guide
Some extra flyers (some from HTC, TomTom, local resellers)
I think that pretty much sums it up
Ok cool, thank you so much. if u were a woman and in front of me I would have no problems in hugging you with glee lol.
I was really just hooked about the case, well more like slightly worried as all the other touch devices have a case of some sort.
Anyway if it is not too much trouble is the case like the one from the first touch or the one from the touch dual.
Once again, Thank you.
I’ve just seen it. Thank you so much it was only 44 seconds but now I REALLY can't wait until Monday.
I have no clue whether it resembles the Touch (Dual) boxes.
You're welcome, and I'm NOT a woman, so a pat on the shoulder should suffice
I understand how it feels having to wait for the ultimate package Been there lately
Trust me, it's worth waiting for, especially if HTC is going to release the GPU drivers, then the speed thing would be solved too...
lol well a pat it is then...
ive had to put up with the eten glofiish x800 it s was OK and that about it. good screen.
i meant case as in its protective pouch btw but ive seen a few pics now. unless the one i saw was an after market one.
anyway thank you so much you've provided a real service
really have made my day
once again thanks.
You're welcome. The pouch is nothing compared to what you see online, its just a bag with a strap at the top to close it, like a garbage bag, but then smaller, containing your TC and in soft tissue
Sorry to hear bout the X800, I wonder where everyone gets the money to buy *multiple* pda's... (and phone and gps i know )
Meh. Well the x800 was a bit on an experiment for the IT department I work in. unheard of going for something so untested but someone has got to test it. I don’t know what goes on behind the scenes that made them say "I want my employees to work with sheer crap" but it happened, anyway I'm giving it back soon, like I said it was ok, a bit like paper, you use it every day but you never truly take any notice of it.
Ye as I suspected the one I saw was an aftermarket one, looks like HTC just took it off the touch dual. It’s slightly disappointing I was looking to have a rubberized case like the one from the touch.
Yeah, unfortunately, the TC comes shipped with a very limited set of accesoiries, in contrast with previous devices, for that price!!

You’re absolutely right and it’s appalling.
I know it’s a really good device but I still feel like for my money there should be more production value.
Oh and Tracy and matt's blog has now got an unboxing of the pre-release version... it seems funny that it only comes out now as people are receiving their devices.

Xoom Tablet

I know this the Gtablet forum and I am a proud owner of a Gtablet. I just wanted to tell you about Honeycomb. I went into the Verizon Store this evening on the way back from a trip to Walmart. The store manager of Verizon happened to wait on me. I asked him if they were going to have any of the Xoom Tablets tommorro in stock for sale. He yes we got 10 of them in today....and would you like to play with it. I was like of course and the town that I was in was a small town...pop probably around 10k. So the store wasn't crowded. I proceeded to play with it. It seemed about the same speed as our Gtablets. Everything else was okay, what made this tablet nice is the fact that it has Honeycomb. I am really impressed with the layout. I am trying to decided if I want to go buy it in the morning...Something tells me that it won't take long to get Honeycomb on the Gtablet. I guess that I am going to wait and see how Honeycomb runs on our Gtablet before I run out and spend a lot of money on the Xoom.
On a side note it doesn't take too much knowledge to know more than the store manager of a Verizon store. I was asking a ? to him that I already knew the answer to and he had to ask some of the other people in the store...of course they didn't know and then I caught one of them on the internet looking for the answer...lol. I don't know, if I worked somewhere and my job depended on commission...I would know my products inside and out...not just because I love gadgets.
To end this post I have to say that I was impressed with the Xoom's screen, and the weight. You can also add the 3g (someday 4g) optional service and GPS. Now is that worth 200-400 extra dollars...I guess some of you will decide tomorrow. Me? Well I guess I will see how honeycomb runs on my gtablet in the next few weeks because we have such great devs. I guess after then I will make my decision.
Peace \oo/
I am looking forward to getting honeycomb on my gtablet
Cool, thanks for the post.
Since people have responded to my post let me add one thing:
I wasn't that impressed with the Xoom. I think the Gtablet is a fine piece of hardware for the price. Throw in Honeycomb and possible Viewsonic officially releasing Honeycomb to our tab after Moto gloats a few months....no comparison, I think Gtablet will be the way to go. For the price and the possbility of full market support once Honeycomb gets settled in...hmm I am excited for my Gtab.
But the screen....much better right?
The Xoom had a better screen by far. The resolution was nice and you could see it at all angles, but it wont be long before someone finds a replacement screen for the Gtab, which might take a little soldering, but still a great way to save money.
Anybody see the review on BGR? It's terrible. I don't even now where to start.
The review is terrible, not the Xoom itself.
He even goes as far as saying Honeycomb "isn't innovative." I'm not a fan of the Xoom (mainly because of the price and contract obigations) but BGR has really let its readers down on this one.
I read the BGR review, it was more of a review on the Xoom price and Honeycomb.
I "get" his complaints against Honeycomb in terms of general user experience, but it wasn't a very elaborate review. When you have an iPad, which is basically idiot proof, Android of any variety takes some getting accustom to. Once you get past that though there's no competition on which is the more powerful platform.
The one aspect I've never been a big fan of on these device reviews is how focused they are with built-in apps. Yes, I get that's what you're paying for, but there is a pretty vast market and essentially everything is customizable.
I will say comparing my gTab to my Incredible, I do miss the widgets that come with Sense (kudos to HTC for making visually appealing ones). And while I'd love to have a Xoom for its screen and slightly altered form factor, it is cost prohibitive for me and I couldn't do anything additional that I can't do on this wonderful little gTab.
I do agree though, i hope there is a screen hack down the line.
Thanks for your refreshingly light mini review. All to often we get commenter take a new piece of electronics to seriously . They act like either the manufacturer is feeding their kids or they just insulted their momma. Your comment carries more wieght with me than anything I'm going to read on engadget/gizmodo etc
Microsd currently does not work with Honeycomb, so is useless on the Xoom- ATM. It also apparently does not have USB host function.
Microsd will be fixed, but the host thing...
Nice display though.

I don't get it. There is no design flaw. Why are they trying to dump this product? If they are really trying to dump this product for a newer model, the newer model better be able to sing and dance.

They are not dumping it, its just being priced competitively given the availability $400 IPS tegra 2, HC Asus Transformer.
Any way amazon's deal (via woot) was way better given it was $280 to your door step (no taxes or shipping fees).

Well, I can think of one giant design flaw that marred an otherwise great tablet (hey, let's take the most important part of the tablet and make it really, really, really crappy!). I would not be surprised to see this sucker at $200 new within the next couple of months with the onslaught of HC tablets hitting the market at sub-$500 prices.

You're talking about the screen? I've had my gtab for a couple months now. Been taking it everywhere with me. In fact, myself and a couple others from the lab attended a meeting to share our designs and experiments at a meeting. I whipped out the gtab and began sharing our autocad drawings and calculations. People were impressed. A few asked intently about my tablet.
The point is I've had no problem at all with the screen. I don't understand why people are crying bloody murder about this aspect of it. May be because you guys are spoiled?
To me, this is not a design flaw. It's not even a weakness. It just is. It makes the gtab different.
I have the Asus now, and I guess you just don't know what you're missing until you've seen a superior screen in the flesh. My jaw literally dropped when I turned it on. Straight-on, the gTab has a great screen, but the viewing angles are terrible, and I consider that a design flaw, as in they went really cheap with the screen. The Acer A500 does not have an IPS screen, yet its viewing angles are almost comparable to the Transformer, so it is possible. Whoever manufactured the gTab just cut corners on the most crucial part of a tablet.
If you're happy with yours, that's great, but that screen ran me off, and I can't recommend it to anyone when they can (eventually) have a Transformer for about $100 more.
Kinda wish I'd kept mine another week so I could post the difference so you could see for yourself, but I don't suppose it matters

I have an iPad2, the gTablet, an Acer netbook, a Dell laptop, and a 2010 MacBookPro.
The gTablet uses the exact same LCD as the acer Netbook. You can tell the screen is designed for a slightly off center nearly dead on viewing angle, and if you hold it so, it's quite fine.
You won't be able to see much at more than 10-15 degrees off center left/right (in landscape) or up/down (portrait)
It is what it is. It's not an iPad. It's not the $120 more Asus. It's the cheapest Tegra2 with great modding support here at xda you can buy. I wouldn't spend more than $280 on it, but for $280 its great.

There is nothing preemptive about it, the Asus transformer is already out there (NA release) and for even longer in EU, and the $399 NA price was already officially announced more than a month ago.

If you look at it straight-on, it is a great screen. If you look at it few degrees left or right, it loses quality but is still viewable. A few more degrees, and things become mushy. Tilt it slightly vertically and that's where the frustration really begins -- imagine those psychedelic videos where colors transform and turn negative. Like the post above said, it's a pure netbook screen and is meant to be viewed as you would with a netbook. Sticking it in a tablet was a cost-cutting shortcut.
Now, if you buy a case that props it up, it helps quite a bit. I'm not dogging the gTab really, it's a great tab that just needs to come down in price a little more in light of the the Transformer's release. If you're going to spend $280+ on a tablet, I'd advise you to spring for the extra $120 that will get you a Transformer.

Don't get me wrong. Whenever someone asks me about my gtab, I tell them it's not for them and recommend an ipad or ipad 2. I do that with pretty much everything nowadays. When people ask me I recommend them the most mainstream thing possible.
Well I don't feel so bad for directing a coworker to get an iPad 2 today She saw my Transformer and said she was looking at iPads, but she liked the widgets of Android (she has an Evo). I told her to just get an iPad, you pick it up and it's a vessel for apps, nothing more, and knowing her, I thought that was best.
But after playing with the Transformer, she's torn. So I guess that's a plus for HC, it's not as techie as I thought.
Bought one from Woot on 4/25, got it on 4/29
Sent from my Evo using XDA app

I direct people to the ipad 2 unapologetically. I'm sick of people complaining about nothing. Let apple deal with those spoiled brats.
Well I found someone who bought it and I guess they were scared to try to do any custom ROM stuff and they sold it to me for $190. I think i got a deal, I am currently reading up on it before I try anything though. I have been using Android for well over a year now, I have a captivate and I always flash the newest ROM's that come out for it. I am hoping the G Tablet is about as easy as my captivate to mod. Anyone have a favorite ROM for the G Tab, I am looking at playing Pocket Legends and games like that.

I've used them all. The one that seems to run the smoothest and fastest is the calkulin+clemsyn combo. I use the overclocked version 5 one.
That said, you really should try them all out one at a time. Again, it takes so little effort to flash a rom. Actually, it takes about 2 minutes for each rom to flash. Try each rom for a week and see how you like them.
Some people like vegan ginger because it's the latest and greatest. I personally like the fastest and most stable. Your choice.
Thank you very much for the information, i can't wait to dive in!

I currently have tNt 4.4 and I like it a lot. If/when I flash another rom, would I have to load all my Apps again? I have titanium backup but even then it would take a while to load them all. That might discourage me from trying ALL the roms out

hardware people, change camera?

Anyway to change out the camera to a higher resolution?
I asked this too, but didn't get any good replies. People just asked me why I would want to. Their argument is that hte resolution is good enough for a webcam, which is basically all it can be used for anyway.
They explained that holding this large tablet up to take actual photos would make me look like an idiot...I mean, I am an idiot, but I guess I'm supposed to prevent myself from looking the part.

Yup. I'm excited to get on the gtab bandwagon. Had it for about a month now and have tried 3 roms. On Vegan RC1 now and contemplating Illuminate HC. It runs great on Gingerbread. I added the carbon fiber/skinomi to it and WOW...it is pretty much a custom/expensive looking pad now! It beats any pad out there just by looks!
I can see how ipad users want to "sit next to us gtab users" coz they know they can't tweak their pads like we can!

Actually, I suspect they sit next to me to show off what they have. If there's one thing I know about ipad users is that they are proud of what they have. It's like lexus drivers showing off their really nice right off the assembly line lexus to a beat up impala like mine.
In their eyes, I'm using a piece of crap. So, they sit next to me and take out their ipad to show off what they have. I've talked to a couple of them and they were very surprised when I showed them how responsive and fast my gtab was. Before, they always thought that anything other than an ipad = slow, sluggish, and unresponsive.

hahaha this made me laugh. Back to topic, yes I have looked into this but I have not found a similar camera that supports the cable that connects to the G-tab. Now that the GPS project has come to a close I might need a new one...
EDIT: ok, camera prolly isn't gonna happen. There really isn't much information out there on this sort of mod. Here are a couple pics of the ribbon cable the camera connects to the board via.
Here is the port it connects to on the mainboard (top right):
If someone can find more info on this, I will do more digging. Oh ya, one more thing. I found a PDF datasheet that might be similar to the one that we have installed. It is attached below.
