Hi There.
I've googled myself blue... But I can't find a solution to this issue I'm having so I might be the ONLY one.
But I'm sure you guys know of this little button at the bottom that says "Send Text" when you have an incoming call. Do you guys have any idea how mad it's driving me. I'll get a call and pull the phone out of my pocket and I seem to always place it in such a way that when I grab it I press this button, ending the call, and starting up the messaging app.
Is there a way to disable this button? I'm sure I remember something about it in the manual or something, but I just can't find it.
Any help would be appreciated
Thanks!

No problem!
Hi there,
I was tinkering with my Nexus S when i stumbled upon a problem. Wanted to put a shortcut on my homescreen so that when i pressed it, it would go to the the dialer screen. However when i chose "Phone" app as the action it goes to the call log screen instead of the dialer screen.
My question is how do i make it go straight to the dialer screen instead of the call log screen? I've tried long pressing and going to action>dialer but cant seem to get the right action to go to the dialer screen.
Btw im using ADW launcher
Appreciate the help peeps. =D
Need help guys!
Have you tried Any Cut?
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.appdroid.anycut&feature=search_result
Thanks for the suggestion. tried any cut. The problem isn't how to get a shortcut. I just don't know which activity to attach to the shortcut so that it will go to the default dialer.
Every time i set the shortcut to phone it will go to call log screen. I'd have to press on the dialer tab to go to the dialer screen. so i just want to bypass that. I want to know how to set a shortcut so that it goes straight to the dialer screen.
Any cut has an option to create your own shortcut, but according to this :http://www.openintents.org/en/intentstable and this:http://developer.android.com/guide/appendix/g-app-intents.html it´s possible to make a direct call, but I am not sure about bringing only the dialer... need a little more research. I´ll let you know if I find something.
Thanks alot. Hope other members have the answer.
Any suggestions?
Help me out here people..
Download desktop Visualizer from the market and on your desktop create a phone widget. This will take you to the dialer screen (just tested it)
Sent from my MattedBlues CM7 Nexus S from the XDA Premium app.
I've been using desktop visualizer to set up my homescreen frm the start. Anyways tried to set the phone widget again but now when i press it it goes to the favourites screen instead! Very frustrating =S
Any way to set the phone widget default screen to dialer?
Try going into settings > Call Settings > Always back to call log and uncheck box may help.
Also in Phone app go to settings > Return to dialer after call and check box.
Hope it helps you.
How do u get to the settings mentioned above? I tried gg to these settings but there isnt such options. Tried long pressing but still no such options. Im using Nexus S android 2.3.2.

Hi,
I posted the answer in this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=12021463#post12021463
cheers
Thank you so much! Finally problem solved!
For many, above steps doesn't solve the problem. This might help - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1681695
---------- Post added at 06:20 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:20 PM ----------
this solution is without using any third party contacts app!!!
Ok... well I got a Samsung Focus. This is my first smartphone coming from a Pantech Pursuit, a (?) Quickfire, and an LG shine. It's absolutely amazing how fun and how great this thing is compared to those phones (although its a bit odd that some of those were more feature rich than this).
Anyway.. I have a few questions probably mostly relating to the WP7 software. If anyone can answer all or some of these.. that'd be great.
1. Not sure I full understand the start button thing. So, yes, it takes me back to the home screen. But is my previous app or page still running? For example if I'm playing a game, hit the home screen, go into another game, hit the home screen... are both of those games still running and slowing down my phone? Is it best to hit the start button when I want to end something, or is it best to hit the back button until I'm home?
2. Picture messaging. I have unlimited texts and pics with ATT. I also have data off since I'm on a limited data plan. However, it won't let me send picture messages with data off. Does it use the data connection to send pictures, but in this specific case it charges it as a picture message (free) rather than data usage?
3. Calendar. Is there a way to set tasks and stuff rather than appointments?
4. Calls. How can I look at previous call info, such as call time? It only appears to give me the call time and nothing else. Not a big deal if that's it.. but kind of weird.
5. Messaging. How can I delete all, rather than just delete a specific convo? Is there a drafts folder?
6. Pictures. Can I organize these on my phone? It says it takes down gps location, but I can't find a way to actually view that info.. do I need to upload it to skynet or something?
7. Where's a good nav?? Where's my damn update??
Thanks!
I think I have more questions but that's all I can think of for now.
1. WP7 cant mulitask atm. But it freezes the apps. Press back button to go back. But prolly wont let you start the game where you left off.
2. Yes it uses your data connection, even if its not using the same APN
3. No, but there is apps for that.
4. No you cant watch it.
5. Yes, klick to the the right corner in inbox.
6. Don't know.
7. There is non. Bing works bretty good if your account and phone is in US. Works in other countrys as well then. Need to learn to type adresses to get it right. As US user Bing will give mre buttons. And for the update, i wonder my self =D
Best regards, P. Nakazul

Much appreciated
So in general do most people keep hitting the back button to exit all apps unless they plan on going back? It would be nice to have a dedicated end button that closes everything in one press.
And for the text messages, when I click the bottom right corner in my messaging screen, my only options are new or settings... no 'delete all'.
When you mention Bing maps... are you referring to the default app on my phone called 'Maps'?
Hitting home (windows button) is the slimmest way if you want to go back later with the use of back button. Since it freezes the app, nothing is running. And why need a close when it doesnt affect performance? So pressing back or windows button doesnt matter that much, only depending in a order to get back if you want.
And for text messages, i noticed the same. Its only in mails you can use the described by clicking on a mail to the right.
And bing maps are the maps im talking off. There are some Google choises but only as apps you have to download.

Hi there!
We are two developers who have been following xda for a long time,
We are happy to announce a new kind of Application on Android Market and want some suggestions and testing by xda community!
This is the App's description:
Andro+ Call Backgrounder provides you an important feature that Android System lacks!
CallBackgrounder lets you put in background an incoming call simply by pressing a button!
How many times you were watching a video, playing a game or reading email/website and an Incoming call disturbed your actvity?
With CallBackgrounder you can return to the last app you were using by putting incoming call in background!
The caller will never notice about your action, the incoming call will continue in background and you will be free to carry on whatever you were doing and maybe later answer/reject.
You can find filters based on contacts and apps that let you ACTIVATE CallBackgrounder ONLY for some contacts or running apps.
New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!
DON'T FORGET to watch sample video that you can find in Android Market page! Or just go to: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbg

NEW FEATURE: Tiny Layout and Shake&Background, watch them on last one screenshot or directly on Youtube: http://tinyurl.com/androcallbgnf
Now You can use non-invasive Tiny Layout on TOP of your existing CallScreen Layout! Tiny Layout is not a Popup but ONLY one button!
So what are you waiting for? Try out the app and let us know your opinions!
What's new:
What's new? Andro+ Call Backgrounder becomes Andro+ Call Manager introducing new options, now you can place your incoming call in background and/or reject your incoming call and AUTO-Recall the caller!
*) ON SALE! For limited time!
*) Version 1.6.5 solved a bug when placing in background call on some devices
*) Solved bug: no restore ringer settings on call ending, thanks to Stefan
*) New Name new functions!
*) Fixed Anonymous call bug
*) New Feature: Tiny Layout (that you can see in the second screenshot) and Shake & Background function
*) New Feature: Shake Detection, if activated Popup will be displayed ONLY if you shake your phone!

I was hoping more along the lines of being able to press the home/back button or something to put the call in the background. I like the stock slide to answer/reject calls method.

Thanks for replying, unfortunately Android System blocks Home Button so we can't override it!
But if you want something less intrusive you can use the "Shake Detection" function that let you activate the Popup ONLY by shaking the phone during an incoming call.
Any other feedback is appreciated.
Thanks,

Hi,
We have just tried it with Go Contacts/Dialer and with Video Caller Id
and it works great with them.
We appreciate any further opinions,
There's a way to press "home" during a call and talk to the person in the background while using your phone otherwise, similar to what the iPhone does. If it's not what the "send to background" option does, any way to add a "pick up but put in background" option?
Hello what is called that application in second screen that gives you the control over wifi etc.

Hi, its not really an app...Its sort of like a control widget hard-coded into the status bar...Most custom ROMs come with it installed...
Can you add new feature please , it's (Recall) to redial the caller
android market always gives me a hard time because in my country these apps are not available for download.
Could someone post an apk or download link plz ,thank in advance

Thanks for suggestion,
Can be good an option that allow you to have a notification (in notification bar) to recall your missed call (that you've previously placed in background) by pushing it?
Something like missed call notification but when you press it, it will re-dial your contact?
Let us know,
Thanks,

Hey folks,
Many of you have downloaded and tried Andro+ Call Backgrounder, how it worked? Did you like it?
If you write here your feedback we can improve it!
Thanks to all.
Just tried the demo and so far so good. I just have one suggestion for now. For people who want to use their own dialer to answer/reject calls, can you make the "shake detection" automatically put the call in the background? It's kind of annoying to shake the phone then have to press the background button.

We've just added this features to Andro+ Call Backgrounder,
Update is on Android Market,
more details on first page of this Thread,
I'm looking for app that would completely ignore and send specified calls to background immediately ("don't answer" mode, not "reject"), so i do not even know i've been called. No ring, no vibration, no screen wake up when phone is asleep and not a single one notification when it's awake. Is it possible with root?

Seems possible, however, while the phone is asleep it may not be possible to check the number then background it before the screen awakes and/or rings. Backgrounding certain numbers automatically is definitely doable though.
Hi,
we need this app so bad ,, and the version in market is buggy ..
why development is stooped ?
any news
