so.. the problem is that i deleted the camera.apk from /system/app/ because i would like to install the stock camera from sense, but i have installed CM7, is there anyway to install the stock camera on Cyanagon?
if there is a way to do it, i would be very pleased if anyone would upload the .apk and possibly something i read about a .odex file? Someone, help!
Stock sense camera will not work on CM7 or any AOSP rom..
Hello my friends,
and what is the best for CM7?
Yours sincerely

Does anyone know how to get the stock HTC camera onto CM7?
I really like the stock camera. I really dislike the CM7 camera. I'm not especially thrilled with the 3rd party camera apps in the app store.
I've googled, searched etc but haven't been able to come up with anything...
You can find the .apk in the thread I made yesterday
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1022479
However, I attempted install on MIUI and it wouldn't let me. Perhaps it'll work with CM7, but... I doubt it, lol.
Sense based apps will only work on sense based roms.

Would it be possible to modify the htc camera apk to work under a different framework (in other words, not HTC's framework found on sense roms)?

With a total re-write, it is possible, but at that point, nobody wants to code a new framework to support a Sense application.
I wouldn't hold my breath.
such a bummer.
That being said, does anyone have any recommendations for a camera app?

Nice! Where is the original thread where Miui Camera originates?
I can't get the Miui camera to install. I put it in system/app but it didn't show up on my Apps list
Edit: I changed the apk's permissions to the permissions of other apks in that folder, robooted, and it worked. Solid camera app, better than the cm7 one for sure.

You can mount the system as rw in adb and push it to system/app.
You change the apk permissions by long pressing in root explorer and selecting permissions.

I didn't make a backup so if anyone would be so kind could you please upload the 2.3.3 camera.apk?

Sorry, I don't have it, but if you root through the .ZIP file you used to flash 2.3.3, you should be able to find the APK in there, likely in the system/app folder.

I was wondering if it would be possible to install the stock GB camera from the 2.3.3 update on CM7. I find that the stock GB cam focuses properly, and takes pictures quicker than the CM7 camera app. I tried pulling the APK from the stock ROM and installing it via Root Explorer and changing permissions, but it keeps force closing on me. Any tips?
Thanks!
Also, I searched, and couldn't find a thread on this. So don't try being a douche.
Edit: I pulled the Camera.apk from an official 2.3.7 Nexus S 4G ROM, and I pushed it via ADB. It installed, and runs just fine. Only thing is that it only has the option for 5MP pictures, and VGA for the front cam.
Did u try a TB backup? Just a thought but probably wont work. Cyan themselves would probably have to make it work for you or donicqq since EB is Cm based

i think it could be done. correct me if i am wrong. Was LG's GB was an AOSP camera apk? CM7 2.3.3-.7 all used an AOSP? If i have time I will play around with it tonight. I hope it is nothing like the froyo camera port...

I have done every thing you have done and the same outcome. I downloaded both zips from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1166531 (GB and CM7) taking a look at them now to see if i can figure something out. one idea is if you have DSIXDA's android kitchen you could swap the files around. it is a little more in depth then that but that is another idea. what rom are you running? 7.1.0.1? post back if i find more.

If you want to know more about what's taking forever run a logcat. After you get a few logcats open a thred upload the logcat. If you don't mind send me a P.M. to the link of the thred. I am not a developer but would like to see the outcome.
Back to topic: I have not been able to figure out how to port the camera. I know there is more to it then just swapping out the .APK's. I am sure buildprop or something needs edits to make it work. If any one has knowledge on how to do this please post. I have a cheap chi-pad that could use a custom rom and this is something I would like to learn.....any one?

I recently just flashed my first rom on my phone and I love it. The only thing I dont like is that its pretty much stock ICS. Problem being I don't like the calendar app and the clock app, the touchwiz version was much better IMO. I have an unzipped version of the stock rom but I can't even find the two in there to extract. I need some help.. :\
Anyone?
Use root explorer and look in the stock .zip system/app for twcalendar.apk, twcalendarwidget.apk and such. Copy and paste to your current system/app (change mount o to w first) and fix permissions after. I'm not sure exactly what else you may need but bear in mind that touchwiz widgets will only work on touchwiz. Make a nandroid backup first because I just gave you some shoddy-ass instructions.

Might need Sense framework. Try pushing to system/app just in case. There is a price to using a non-Sense ROM, even for the Sense haters (and I am one). I'm stuck just to keep the Sense Camera app...

If you can't get it to work, Energy ROM has movie editor in it.
If anything pull the app from Energy ROM, put it in the place it in the trickdroid zip system/app and flash it again.
Push there, then click to install from root explorer sometimes works for me

After pushing the apk in /system/app, you may try restarting your phone. That's what i'm always doing after i push an apk there. Works everytime.
