sorry for bad English
Do you flashed baseband for Gingerbread?
Sent from my LG-P920 using XDA App
I also encountered this problem when I flashed to V21a 2.3.5 and at some time, my P920 is unable to make or receive any calls as a result of 'internal system re-organizing' and I have no other choice but to flash back to 2.2.2 and now everything is working normal. I just wonder if the V21a baseband does not fully comply with P920 HK branded mobile phone..I will do that again when the HK version is to be released sometime in December 2011.
Make backup and try to wipe phone.
Hi guys, am using german 21a and am having troubles with signal too.
When I get out of tube i have no signal till i restart the phone, its annoying cause with froyo the phone found the signal in just few seconds, now am sometimes offline even half an hour till i notice it and rebooth the phone.
I also tried some other GB roms and its a really problem of the GB baseband and so am having the troubles with any GB rom - due to the baseband firmware. So am changing back to fully working 2.2.2
Hi!
I had the same problem. My phone was dropping signal after flashing the first leaked version and the gb baseband. Then it got worse, when I flashed the 21a kdz, wiping everything didn't helped.
Also my battery life was terrible, because of this.
The solution for me was:
- flash v10k (T-mob branded hun)
- wipe everything
- flash v21a (hun open)
- wipe everything
Now my phone works like a charm.
I've got a Hungarian T-mob barnded o3d.
Had the same problem with the leaked GB, and now I am having the same with the official release, I have missed out on two jobs this week, the Customer told me in an e-mail that I did not answer the phone when he called and he left a voice mail which I never recieved an sms notification telling me so, I also had loosing network issue and not getting it back until a restart, unless LG releases a specific baseband for Australia when the phone is released, I can't see myself using this phone anymore, under froyo the phone is crap and in gingerbread the phone as a phone is useless, so much for LG waiting this long to release a trouble free gingerbread for the O3D and all we got is all this crappy problems.

Have you tried to flash back to v10k baseband with flashtool and then flash v21a KDZ? After i did this, all my Mobile Data and signal problems are gone.

Hi, well i changed to 21a from my original EU open 10K so i have been using 10K baseband before the change to 21a which is as per your post most important.
I now tried to reflash current 10K again and again (3 times in total), i wiped everything (even internal /sdcard ) and now i will flash to 21a again... will see during few hours if/how this works... Thanx for your tip! I will give it a try...
So after few days wiping everything i am still randomly loosing signal
GB sucks, sorry to say that. Am changing back to Froyo
somebody has the same problem with randomly loosing signal on GB ?
I have the same problem losing signal all the time when flashed to Germen 2.3.5, was left no other choices but to wait for an official release of GB 2.3 Hongkong branded..

I went back 10 days ago to Froyo, I don't think I will use Ginger bread ever again, I will wait for Ice Cream, I am having Zero issues with 10D, battery life with low to moderate use is well over a day, no restarts and the signal is always great, I also had problems with audio quality with Blue tooth under GB perfect quality under froyo. I also had freezing problems under GB never under Froyo. my couple cents
Hey guys..the same here!!!! I am the spokesman for 10 people who have the same problem!!!!!!
Inviato dal mio LG-P920 usando Tapatalk
I'm having the same problem in Hong Kong. I have a Thrill 4G flashed with the V10k EU open O3D ROM, and is fine though not great. Now with V21a, the battery goes so quickly, especially in places where signal reception is poor.
Ah good, everybody was so excited with GB and nobody in the develop sections is not mentioning any bugs with signal at all, so i was almost shocked that my phone is somehow broken or incompatible with GB... now i understand the delay with GB, maybe its just they found the bug with signal and are trying to fix it... who knows.
However i am now back again at 10K EU and it works perfect. I miss the LED light at filming or taking stills in 3D but I better choose signal and be available for calls/sms rather than have a better camera in 3D but often out of signal and unreachable for others.
My 3G signal will diconnect suddenly after I upgrade to 2.3.5 too. Is it the bugs of the official 2.3.5 rom?
Yep I hope it is, cause when I used the stock official german 21a I had the issue to... so i belive it must be some bug in the GB baseband which is distributed in stock GB roms... bad bad
Hey,
I have this problem also. I get most messages which are sent to me however some don't make it through (so I am told). I have also had one occasion where a phone call didn't make it through.
Is this just happening on a handful of phones or is it a general thing?
I am in the UK and on Orange network.
I believe its a global GB issue, at least with the german 21a version. Several users from various countries using various providers have confirmed there's something wrong with GB. I'm using 10K at the moment and seriously thinking for replacing my LG 3D with iPhone 4S.....

I rooted and have been running CM7 for months never had a problem. Earlier today I started having trouble sending texts so I updated from Nightly 71 to nightly 75 thinking I stumbled into a nightly bug (which happens often) and this did not fix the problem. So I went to an old nandorid backup from 7-18-2011 and restored because that particular backup has always worked perfect for me. Still this did not fix my problem.
Then I got my big boy shoes on and downloaded Heimdall and a stock image of Froyo 2.2 for my Captivate. I followed the directions and downloads from here.
This did not fix my problem. I am currently running a 100% stock version of the phone now so I cant possibly think of any other way to fix this problem other than taking it up to AT&T and asking them if there is any way to have it sent out or to receive a new phone. As I think there might be a problem with the radio inside the phone.
I can still send texts on and off but I can not use data. My mother has an SGS Captivate running stock Eclair 2.1 (never been rooted or flashed) and she has FULL bars while I alternate between 1 and none. What gives??
Have you tried a different sim card?
UPDATE: All the sudden my mothers phone and my friends phone (AT&T Iphone) are reporting the same type of service issues. Maybe it was a service outtage in my area and my phone just saw it first? This is getting stranger.
Seems like AT&T issue, just wait 1 or 2 days and see if everything goes fine.
Hi everyone! So I got G2X last week and the first day it worked great. It shipped with 2.3.3 on the device. Ended up rooting it and flashing a custom 2.3.3 rom, followed by Cyanogen mod nightly 2.3.5. Now, next day was my first day back at work and for some weird reason my signal would drop completely for 1-2 secs followed by device re-acquiring it and everything is fine again... super annoying and results in crappy data . Basically 4G/3G completely turns off, same goes for the radio, then its back to normal, anywhere from 2-4 bars usually. Any ideas?
That happened to me on CM7 aswell. I'm not exactly sure what causes it, but I haven't had any problems on the stock ROM.
I usually just have gps locking issues
We had a new Guy start today and he's gone the same phone on 2.2 though, doesn't seem as if he has same issues.
Are you just running stock rooted rom now?

Does anyone know of a fully working Gingerbread baseband for Canada?
I'm nervous about flashing new baseband and being unable to get signal/data on my device.
Thanks
Good Morning,
A couple of us have been discussing this in some other threads.
What I have found after flashing the GB Baseband is that it takes several minutes to register on the network. Once registered, voice and data work for a few minutes, sometimes only a few moments. Followed by a complete signal loss, that usually returns to follow the same cycle; sometimes only returns after a reboot.
I have gone back to FROYO for the time being. I heard rumours that updates for the Rogers Optimus 3D and the LG Thrill are expected by the end of the year.
I am not sure if the current baseband could be modified; or if the baseband from another GB device could be used or modified for use on our devices.
Thank you!
- Audi.
thanks for the information! Its too bad it wont really work. Froyo it is for me too then.
Good Evening,
Just an update. I reinstalled the GB KDZ for fun and it seems to have worked this time.
I have no explanation as to why.
Thanks, Audi.
Hi my friend.
Thanks for info again. Can you please let me know how you flashed baseband and kdz gingerbread ? Maybe ill try it.

Good Evening!
I followed the instructions found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1287236
When I had issues and had to go back to Froyo I followed the same process to flash an early version then used the LG Updater to return to the stock Rogers rom.
Let us know if it works for you too.
More than 24 hours now and no network issues for me to report!
Thanks, Audi.
Thanks Audi!
Was flashing baseband difficult? What instructions did you use for that?

Good Evening,
When you use the method of flashing the GB KDZ file the baseband is included in the KDZ.
The instructions for flashing the KDZ are outlined in the KDZ thread in the Android Development Section.
Please let me know if you if I can help in any other way.
Let us know how you make out!
Thanks, Audi.
Only edge
I don't know if it's because of this or because my 3G reception was already bad.. Will be sure tomorrow but since this update my phone is only catching edge and i've checked my APNs and they're ok so i don't know what it could be...

Good Morning,
When you run speedtest (available in the market) what are your results?
As I said earlier I am getting the same speeds I was on Froyo; so I have no complaints.
Once the GB update is released in this area we will see the full benefits of HSDPA+.
Thank you, Audi.
well, I did it! I got GB loaded and running well. Although, as you and others have said, I'm getting mixed connection results. Sometimes it says 3G, others H but usually its E. At least radio is always connected though.
Sucks for me because I notice big drop in internet speed. I will do that speed test when I can and let you know what happens.
Thanks
On Rogers here too. Hmm, I tried this and ended up with a boot loop. Still working on a way to fix it back up. The phone just plays the sound, displays the LG logo then restarts and repeats.
Whoops
EDIT: Nah I fixed it, I forgot to boot and wipe my old data/cache. BUT, no HPSA. Just E. My apn settings are correct so there almost surely is a baseband issue here.
EDIT2: Don't flash your phone on a retard day. I forgot to enter the password on my apn thing. BTW, King3D rom had all the rogers APN stuff already filled in. Its pretty nice! Cheers
OK, I've had a little more time to test this... And yeah, unfortunately, there are a few nasty issues with this base band. Signal quality is very strange, e-only in a lot of places. Stranger still, my wifi is broken and drops its connection after a second or so of usage. This is tested on both the stock gb and king 3d (which is really nice, btw).
Back to froyo ;(
Really sucks, it sounds like people will be getting ics by the time we Rogers customers get gb. And they are getting gb now that others are getting ics, LOL.

Good Morning!
I am sorry to hear about your network issues; I wish I had could tell you why mine works!?
I had not yet tested wifi; just tested it this morning and it is working.
Bluetooth works great too.
I wish I had the answers to help more!
- Audi.
I suspect it has to do with the towers around where you happen to be. Rogers in Saskatchewan is a bit strange, it might be that with the different baseband its only talking to certain towers. Thats a guess anyway. Can't think of what else it could be -- I live on the first floor of my apartment building, I get edge-only. I visit a friend on the fourth floor and its HPSA and fast as lightning. No idea about the wifi though.
Cheers!
hi guys,
Mine has actually improved lately. I no longer have issues with connection, maybe once a day for like a second or too, but then its fine.
I am getting 3G more often now and H at times as well. I am in the Toronto area so maybe thats why? More towers?
Anyways, I found that I had to manually enter my APN settings to get it to work.
Bluetooth and Wifi work perfectly for me too. Although my battery life sucks big time for some reason. I think, when the screen is on, it drains like 1% every 3 minutes even when idle!
Thats brutal! There must be some blood sucking LG apps that are eating my phone for breakfast, lunch and dinner!
I guess I have to do some digging to get this GB running super sweet!
I flashed back to the lg provided Gingerbread this week and then upgraded to 2.3.4 using their tool. Could not get over the bloatware so ended up upgrading to ICS. I now have Eagles Blood up and running, everything is great, but I can only make Wifi calls. Every time I make or receive a call over Cell towers it's a loud clicking noise that both parties can hear.
I've tried multiple ROM's and re-installs(Hellfire/Eagleblood) with CM and AOSP versions and nothing resolves this, so I finally called Tmobile thinking maybe a cell tower reset would work.
I made it to level 2 tech support and this is a "known issue" with "incomplete" 2.3.4 patches. They basically read me a service bulletin explaining my exact issue, but the warranty is broken and they simply direct me back to the LG upgrade tool.
Has anyone else been able to recover cell tower calls on any ROM or did my G2x just become a tablet when not using GrooveIP?
TIA
As far as I know from lurking on the G2x forums, only stock Gingerbread and a rooted version of stock Gingerbread are available. I don't think any third-party ROMS have call audio working. The reason is that the official update changed the baseband.

By updating the ROM with LG's update tool to 2.3.4, u also updated the baseband, and if u read around the forums here for the G2x, you can easily find that none of the custom ROMs work with the new baseband because of compatibility issues, you can only use ROMs that are based off of the official 2.3.4 update but there arent any yet.
Although im quite surprised tech support said it was a known issue, i wonder how many other people have called having this problem because they dont read around.
Anyways, hope this helps clear things up

thanks for the quick responses. I read the ROM install instructions multiple times, but did not read about the underlying baseband since I was running Weapon G2x gingerbread with no problems and thought the 3 wipes recommended prior to the install would take me back down to a clean phone.
Appears I have a tablet till the updates are released.
Also, Tmobile tier 2 support had a KB item on this issue, but it was caused by earlier versions of the software update failing prior to completion and causing the SIM card/network errors.

There isn't one. You use the same kdz method that ppl are using to update to v21y. just switch the 21y.kdz with 21e.kdz when using the method.

Yup having the same issue with my friends phone. Someone mentioned downgrading the baseband, the only way I know how to do that is by using the tool that helps you unbrick the phone. please correct me if im wrong or have any idea what ive just said
What exactly is the benefit of the new march 2012 baseband (other than breaking custom ROM compatibility at this point)? Looking for apples-to-apples comparisons of a custom ROM running with old baseband and new baseband (other than broken cell voice calls).
A similar ordeal happened for Virgin Mobile's Optimus V line, where a new baseband came out, everyone jumped on it, but it caused occasional random reboots and no apparent benefits, and couldn't be downgraded. Eventually devs had to apply fresh LG released kernel source code & recompile kernel for new baseband to be stable.

As much as I miss ics, the new baseband pretty much fixes everything. Battery lasts forever, GPS lock right now and I've seen accuracy to 3ft. No random rebooting. Fast, smooth, dripping butter everywhere. Other than that, no real reason to flash it.

I have the strangest issue. I get disconnected from calls in the middle of conversation if I'm using any of these main custom ROMs.
Blaz3r
CyanogenMod 10
Blaze Tweaked ICS 2.2
But If I'm using a stock ICS ROM or "Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (Posted by tthaz777)" everything is very stable and no disconnects.
I have full bar with all the ROMs and get perfect data speed and everything else works fine. I'm using the same exact apps on the ROMs as I do on the stock, so I don't think it's related to a particular app. It seems as if TMobile scans the sessions at their network level and disconnects the call because my connection is not providing some information/call data they need. The disconnect can happen as fast as a few seconds or after a 10 minutes or so, just random.
Is anyone else experiencing this ?
I'm currently running below and everything is stable with no drop calls. Just can't figure out why this happens when install any other ROM. and Yes I always to do a full wipe before install.
Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (Posted by tthaz777) with merwin's scorched-kernel-t769-ics v1.0.29
Well the 4.0.4 thazz build should be pretty stable as its essentially stock. That being said my wife (who is INCREDIBLY picky on how her phone functions... I've yet to get her to try something not TW-based) has been using Tweaked since before it was even posted and uses her phone as a phone constantly (... lot's of out-of-state sisters that she's always yapping with) and has yet to report an issue. I am unclear why you would be having these issues with the particular specificity you are experiencing... especially if kernels are remaining consistent across TW-based builds anyway. Without me being able to recreate it on my end or a logcat taken during the premature disconnect on your end I'm at a loss. If nothing else, at least you found something that works for you, so I suppose it a could be worse.
Sorry for the troubles.
Not all stock apps or play store apps work with 4.1, I had the same problem when I let my battery app manage my data. It would wait to connect sometimes up to 20-30 secs later after waking to make a call. Check all your apps your using for compatibility, and when you wake your phone give it a sec before calling out. If your in a bad area the alternating of edge/3g/HSDPA+ doesn't help either. I stopped allowing my battery app data control and that solved 90% of my issues, sometimes it still does it but only when I'm in the boonies.

LOL I am using T-Mobile service with this device, so if that's the case for you I would expect a few drops from time to time
On a serious note, drops can happen with full bars for a variety of reasons. Tower is overloaded (signal shows strong but can't connect/gets dropped), person you have called drops you (calling someone in NY that has AT&T? ), bad/faulty sim card (free to get checked and replaced), etc. No cell phone/ROM is drop call immune, even stock (and yes even those people using Verizon). FWIW, I haven't dropped a single call in over a month using Thomas' PA and Tweaked. That's pretty good considering that's including the holidays and I didn't go home this year.
Thanks for the replies guys. What drives me crazy is that I have absolutely no dropped calls when using the stock ICS ROM, but as soon as I load any of the ICS ROMs mentioned the voice call gets disconnected periodically. Same Location, Same Apps, Same Calling Number, nothing changes except the ROM.
I'm fairly technical and good at troubleshooting but not an expert in reading the Android Logcat and don't know what to look for in the log. I have loaded the UVLH5 radio after flashing the the custom ROMs to see if that might be the cause but same thing.... I wondering if I need to try an older Radio...
Like I said all is running great with Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777) + merwin's scorched-kernel-t769-ics v1.0.29 OC to 1728 but not knowing what's causing the drops is just driving me crazy....
To test I just load the ROM and then call one of the free news numbers (ABC News etc 650-293-9114) and put the phone on speakerphone, and yes I have tried varies other numbers... JUST WEIRD
Try finding an app of the app store to make logging easier like logcat or something. Then run the app and make a call. If it doesnt disconnect, restart the log. When it does disconnect, end the log and copy+paste it here. That is the only real way to find out whats up.
So the problem started again this AM and it's been fine since I flashed Android ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777). I hear the hang up tone and calls would just disconnect in the middle of conversation with perfect signal strength. Nothing new was added to the phone, so only way to fix it was to reflash it again from a nan backup.
This is driving me crazy. Attached is a short logcat from right before the call dropped, could one of you experts check it out and tell me if you see anything strange going on....
Thanks

any chance you can put that on pastebin instead of a pdf? just post a link to it. It could be helpful to a dev as I see that some info is spread out to different pages and is cut off.
Also did you use an existing sim from a previous phone when getting this phone or did you get a brand new sim? I know various issues arise when using an old sim with this phone. My old sim had issues and wouldn't connect to wifi calling and it was only 10 months old.

When I initially had the issue I ordered a new sim hoping it would resolved it and that didn't help, so I flashed ICS 4.0.4 UVLH5 (by tthaz777) which is pretty much the stock with bloatware removed and that resolved the problem and not a single dropped call for a month and it just started again. It's so weird as if Mobile is looking for something in the connection/session and forces a disconnect.

Ordering a new sim doesn't mean getting a compatible sim. Have you taken the phone to a Tmo store and had someone check it out? They could've sent you another partially compatible sim for it. If I knew more about reading the logs I would love to help you out....
