I cannot install a 48.6 MB app from the market; "Insufficient space on device"
This is driving me absolutely insane. I've tried so many solutions that used to work in the past for me, but nothing works anymore.
I am using an AT&T Captivate (Samsung Galaxy S). I have over 700 MB of internal memory and over 9.8 GB of memory on my SD card left. When I try to download an app that is 48.6 MB (Jelly Defense), no matter what I do, I cannot download it.
I have tried Force Closing and wiping the Data/Cache of Download Manager, Google Services Framework, Market, and Market Updater, and then rebooting the phone. Didn't work.
I've tried doing all of the above and uninstalling the Market Updates. Didn't work.
I've tried what's in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18874811&postcount=2
but I had the same problem as in this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18889951&postcount=3
What else can I do? This is absolutely ridiculous. I CANNOT install this app.
If you have android 2.2 there is an option on the app section that allows you to move apps to sd.If not then you should root, make a partition for the apps to be stored and move them in the external storage
The captivate has horrific stock software. I would root and go custom rom and then try it. You can odin back to stock if needed for service, even without a working screen if necessary.

But how can I move this app to SD? It won't even let me download it once in the first place...
I'd prefer not to install a custom ROM if possible.
insert your sd card in an adapter and transfer a custom rom or something
I have the same problem with blood and glory. Nothing has worked so far.

If it's a free app then try and find an apk file, put it on your SD card and install it to your device? On my rooted Cyanogenmod Galaxy 5 I can choose an option to automatically install every application to my SD.
Your /cache partion is too small search the i9000 forums there's a guide to increase the size of it

this would be an absolute last resort for me, and I definitely would not do it for a minor issue such as not being able to download a single app from the market, let alone a game.
So, the Android Terminal Emulator on the market is basically a Linux command line, yeah?
I have never touched anything related to Linux before...
copy the script to your phone give it executable permissions and run it through adb shell or a terminal
I have no idea how to give the script executable permissions, or how to run it through the terminal.
Can somebody please help me?
ok so
I'm now pretty sure I know what's stopping me from running the script fully
https://market.android.com/details?id=jackpal.androidterm&hl=en
I used that app. It moves the cache to the SD card, which removes current problems with market cache... but it still doesn't allow you to download apps above 30 MB in size...
but because it moved the cache, the script I'm now trying to run can't work, since it's trying to find the cache in its original location.
the description for the app doesn't say what the app ACTUALLY does, or where it moves the cache
does anybody have any idea how I would go about undoing what the MarketFix app did?
So, running the script through a terminal absolutely will not work.
btw, I'm on a Captivate, Rooted, without a custom ROM. Although I did do the official upgrade to 2.2.
I tried running it through a script manager, and this is what I get as an error.
It says it cannot find the device "mount"
What exactly is the problem?
Hi,
I installed the route 66 stock rom on my Verizon Galaxy S3, and now am getting the "insufficient Storage" error on Google Play when I try to install apps. I have lots of room on the internal and the external SD cards. I've tried clearing the data on Google play, but still won't work. Any ideas on how to fix it?
If you Google search insufficient storage space Google play there is some good info
Could this be your problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1726525
Are the apps you are trying to install ones you have installed before?

No, that isn't the issue. These are new apps.
How many apps do you have?

Not so many. I have lots of space on both the internal sd card and the external card.
I'm getting frustrated with this, considering wiping phone and starting from scratch, but no point unless I understand what's wrong.
Did you use lucky patcher on this app?

You have to deo-odex the app first, then install normally.
Fixed it
After trying a lot of things, I gave up, backed up everything with Titanium Backup, wiped my phone in recovery, and install the new Synergy Rom. Now works fine, and I can install apps fine. Don't know what was wrong, but just in case I installed Cache Fixer for future issues.

Can you tell me how much space has the Galaxy S3 for Intallation of apps? Confers with what I read on other sites: 2GB? My S2 had 16 GB internal, but only 1.75 GB for installing apps! ! Thankful!

If you are able to Wipe data, Might Fix the Problem (if rooted or different ROM wipe in Recovery)
Hey i did not understand what u meant to say. Will you be kind enough to elaborate?
THANKS
Wipeing data with erase everything and start from brand new. Putting Google play store back on there. Go to settings and try either backup and reset or storage and tap factory data reset. If you are rooted or on a different Rom tell me

Or, go to settings/applications and select google play, clear data, cache and reboot. Or simply redownload the app.
He uninstalled Google play he can't get it back unless he factory resets

most of my games especially 3D games like Shadowgun ,Beach Bugy Blitz and Dead Trigger are keep closing whenever they start they go back to Home Screen
i don't know why
this happened first on ics v28b then i tried v30a and optimusRS xperia rom all the same problem
i formatted cache ,internal storage ,external SD and did factory reset but this didn't solve the problem
i think i will go back to GB if no one helped me
all apps and games were running normally on GB
anyone else have this problem or only me??
so plz people any help will be appreciated
Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling the games? Or clearing data? I have not tried BBB, but the others have worked fine for me in the past.
You could be out of memory when these run from too many apps saved to system memory. I move almost all apps to external sd.
Many possible causes for apps to crash... just having ICS is not one of them, unless the flash was bad.
What tool did you use to get ICS?
P.S. I just tried bbb, since I have been hearing about that one. Works fine.
P.P.S. please ask in Q&A section next time
1. Enable 2D GPU rendering.
2. Enable swap and set swappiness to 100.
They should work, I have no problem.
I even ran 3DMark from Google Play with no problems.

is there a custom rom with 2d rendering enabled and swap??
xbsall ,dark rom or optimusRS xperia rom???
If it only happens with the games I'd try reinstalling them and/or moving data to external sd (use the GL to SD app from Play Store for that). Like I say, they could be crashing from lack of memory.
If it happens with other apps it could be a system stability issue. I'd check pc drivers are installed correctly and flash a .bin that is not extracted from .kdz (no need to do that, there are plenty available), one known to work. But that's just me.
I have not had the need for any swap mods, so I don't know about that. XBSA vR3D works fine for my use.

yea i think is is a problem of ram
coz when BBB crash my ram has only 50 mg free
how can i solve this>?
should i try XBSA vR3D rom??
If you like. This is what mine has at the moment.
By the way, IF it is a system problem and not just app or storage, installing a different custom rom is not going to solve the problem. I'm talking about reflashing ICS from scratch

Well
I am downloading a fresh copy of V30a.bin and .fls NOT.kdz
I will flash it with LG flash tool and tell you if it makes difference
About memory I think more than half the system memory is free
Also internal sd and external sd
I formatted both sd and formatted system as I said
Thnx anyway for yor time and for your help
I will flash once I go home and tell you

BBB still crashing
and now google play store crash sometimes too during download
any idea??
It really sounds like a space issue. If you only have 40mb of system memory free there is no room for apps to work when they run. Uninstall some system apps you don't need. Don't delete your system
By the way I only meant the flashing thing as a last resort, if nothing else works.
As you see there, I have half a gig system space free so the phone has room to do some 'maths.'
