I have the apk pack for the old style no picture box market. I have ran it on my phone a lot but Market soon updates itself to the new one which I hate.
Is there any way to stop it updating itself ?
Yes, use TI Backup the freeze the update process (marketupdater).
Nice one thanks

I want to start the Market Updater but since it is a system app I am not sure of how to force start it or if there is an app for this, there are many apps for stopping other apps but none that I know for starting them. My phone is not rooted.
Yesterday when the market was updated I kept deleting it because I was not sure what was going on, I was not given a notice that there was an update or was ever asked if I wanted to update. The new markets icon was not the same and since I am always quick to think something unfamiliar is a virus I kept uninstalling it and eventually took out the battery and restarted my phone (I know I am weird). NE Ways I looked it up on the net and confirmed that there was indeed a new market released and now I want it back so that is the reason for this question.
Please do NOT post or link to the apk, I want to get it through the Market Update app.

search and download in the market named "Startup Manager", once you've open it, you will have three tabs. Go to the 3rd tab labeled "Custom". from that tab you can add an application that you want to start on startup..
hope it helps if i understood your problem correctly..
Recently NYCMate app creators broke ties with their partner and as a result had to roll back to an older (crappier) version of their app. They promise to build it back up, bigger and better, but for the time being I'm happier with the old product.
I'm a big fan of the "Update All" feature in the market, but if I'm not going to update NYCMate, I'm forced to update every app one-by-one like the old days. Is there a way to have the market ignore updates for one app, and still be able to Update All?
This is for the Android market if I didn't make that clear.
I hate the old market and want to stay with the old one (2.6).
I've replaced Vending.apk to the old one and tried to freeze the market updater using Titanium Backup, but the market keeps updating itself.
Is there a way to avoid the market from auto updating?
I just recently got the android market update to 3.3.11 and when i try to update apps or view my apps i get a fc. Just wondering if any one is having similar problems, and if there is a work around?

I'm assuming you've tried to clear data and force close market from settings -> applications?
I got the Market update this morning too and I have not had any problems.
I'm having the same problem... I posted about it twice in the Prime thread to no avail. I have cleared the Market data and also the apps data that I have had problems updating.
It's only select apps (google apps?) that seems to force close the market when trying to update them.
what phone is it? im kinda lost here...im new to this form and would like some help.
.
Yeah, i cleared the data and cache, i even did a full system wipe to try a solve but no dice. Hopefully an update is forth coming that will solve this, kinda a pain not being able to update apps.
Cold boot fixed it for me when I updated to the latest firmware
i assume you did not read the info before installed right?
it's said that 3.3.11 is not working perfectly on Honeycomb tablet's
but now you now

I assume you know that this was pushed silently and we had no choice, right?
Now you know.
I also have some problems with the new Market app. However, it seems to only force close when I select specific paid apps under My Apps. One of those apps received an update, which it luckily installed automatically, and now I can select that app again without a problem. Maybe the Market crashed on certain permission settings that they changed or something. Just an idea.
Btw, it has been tried by gnufabio to put back the previous version of the Market, but that didn't work because of how the apk's are signed or something (correct me if I'm wrong!).
Hey does anyone in here know what the pRoblem is with some of the apps in the market getting the package not signed correctly error? It happens if i had a previously themed version of that app. I have Completely removed the old version from my phone, cleared market data also, and still the market will not let me download it. I even wiped my phone and tried a different ROM and still no dice. I flashed the old school market from froyo and everything was good. Why is this a problem with the newer markets? Fyi i don't want to use the old market i want the new one to work right. Any ideas? Or reasons why it's like this?

did you download these applications by another market?

Nope. note for an example, i have been running Google music i got from the market for a while. I decided to run a themed version cause i wanted black. Well now i want the original back and the market well not let me download it. I don't even have the themed version on my device. i sbf'd and the market still will not let me download it. I have a couple apps like that. I'll never run a themed app again if it means i can never run the normal one again.
